Im in the market for a couch. I love R&Bs style but their prices are a bit too steep for me, thus, outlet seemed like a great idea. This was my first time here. I arrived 15 minutes after opening on a Saturday. It should have served as a warning that I was the 5th vehicle in a train entering the parking lot and had a hard time finding a spot. When I entered the store, it felt like Black Friday shopping. Literally swarms of people, and as I squeezed through the crowds to look at the couches, I did not see a single couch without a Sold sticker already on it. I was hoping to casually peruse and maybe purchase, but, I assume to actually score an item here you would need to be waiting in line before opening and then make a mad dash to what it is you want; Im unsure. The discounts I saw didnt seem to warrant such an experience. A $2800 couch was marked down to $2200, and a $1300 couch was marked down to $1100. If you enjoy Black Friday type shopping, knock yourself out. Otherwise I tend to think I would sooner pay full price than come back here.
I love R&B and I love their outlet even more. I live way too close for my wallet’s comfort!I’ll start by saying listen - this is not a place you go to get cheap things. The outlet will save you money but R&B is quality products so you still need to go ready to drop some $$ if you want to buy anything.But the R&B outlet has seriously shifted how I purchase items for my home. I cannot get Target and IKEA furniture anymore because I will pay more for quality. I have never regretted anything I’ve purchased from this place. There are no returns and you may get furniture that may have a scratch or two or is missing the felt pad in the leg but I have bought items from the outlet that really have no issue or easy to fix.Every piece of R&B furniture i have is impeccably built and beautiful. On top of that, I can feel good about the company I got it from and giving jobs to Americans.Last but certainly not least I am OBSESSED with their native meadow garden. What a unique, impactful and honestly smart thing to do. Each time I’m there in the summer I spend some time enjoying their native landscape. I appreciate this company’s contributions to creating local biodiversity with their garden and helping to educate those who stand in the sometimes long line to get in.
Lots of fun to shop at the Room & Board outlet. The furniture is made of excellent quality, and their delivery and customer service is awesome. You will not regret shopping here. 5 stars all-around.
Great store but..... Staffing isnt greatest. Im kind of on the fence dealing with customer service. And I thought the furniture was high quality when I first walk into that place years ago. Now that I have a few pieces, and know of other stores that have better quality for around same price.And with buying anything from the outlet. You need to think about if things are already dinged or scatched or damaged in some way. What keeps them from damaging it more in the process of moving it from purchasing area back into warehouse again. Then on to truck for delivery. They could be thinking this stuff is already damaged to a certain extent, who cares if we damage it more.Just watching them move things and take things apart at outlet is scary sometimes. I had purchased things from outlet, looked over them and found the few things wrong. When it was delivered I seen a couple more scratches and dings. So its like you purchase a product that is possibly already damaged. You dont want it to be damaged anymore once youve bought and paid for it. Just be careful. Since everything is sold as is, no returns etc.
Best furniture store IN MY OPTION in Minneapolis, customer service is amazing. Delivery team is professional. Customer happiness is their priority. Furniture are great quality. They have amazing deals, you just need to look and find it. Moved to new place and starting from scratch got lot of furnitures with in couple of weeks. Where as most of the place has insane wait, I am guessing because of all this pandemic. I highly recommended to check this place. Good part is you can look, feel it and if you like it, they will delivery within a week(only if you choose to or you can pick it up anything you want). Couple of times, I had bad experience shopping online at other places, feels and looks totally different in real.
Exceptional value. Beautiful American craftsmanship which is rare with all the imported junque. Many items upholstered. Come early on Saturday when they open. Sat and Sunday (12-4) the day we visited.

The Room and Board Outlet is a great place with friendly and cheerful staff. We have two sofas from here. They provide high quality goods, many of which are made in the USA. While the wait times can be deterring (I wish less people knew about this gem) - and this review probably doesnt help my case - well be returning for more.
It seems impossible to get anything timely from the retail store and if you are looking for something specific you can drive to the outlet, stand in line just to get in the door, and maybe, just maybe they have what you are looking for.I would happily buy from the retail store if I didnt have to wait until March.I wish the outlet would either have a better system of knowing whats in or make it easier to find out. Because they dont have a good system in place I give them a D-.And please if you happen to have a full size steel bed frame let me know!
Overrated and Overhyped. We got in line early to make sure we had the best chance of finding a couch we wanted. After making a loop through the outlet, it was clear to us that there wasn’t really anything setting this furniture, specifically couches, apart from anything you could find at one of the other furniture outlets in the area.It might be worth going once if you want to see for yourself. Otherwise, don’t feel like you are missing out unless you know there is something in store that you want. The discounted prices seem fair for the quality, but I couldn’t imagine paying full price for anything I saw there. Some of the couches lacked stability (wobbled when shook), and the style and variety was just lacking.
Some decent furniture, but terrible, rude, condescending service - seemed like the staff there would rather be doing anything but helping customers. It seemed like the delivery and return policy was extremely unhelpful as well.

Purchased 4 dining chairs about 3 years ago. They’re failing and the company will not do a thing because we purchased at the outlet. We have purchased lots of stuff at this company (both retail and outlet) over the years because we believed it was top quality craftsmanship and a company who backed their products. Good luck. We will choose to shop elsewhere in the future.
Due to covid, expect to wait an hour or more to get in. We showed up around 950 (10 minutes before they open) and got in around 1105.You have to wait outside in the parking lot, so an umbrella or something to shade yourself is recommended.For what it is, its a nice furniture outlet. Prices are on the higher end, and its hard to find a complete set of anything because its an outlet, but the discounts are pretty good and they had a lot of really great pieces. The inventory is constantly changing so they have a good variety.
So much awesome furniture, and most of it 50% off! Room and Board sells lots of modern designs, and thats what stands out in this outlet store.The store is open weekends-only and all sales are final. People start lining up an hour before the store opens to get first look at the best deals, but I doubt its worth that wait to see a couch 3 minutes earlier than the last person in line.Expect some showroom wear and tear, and some returned merchandise, but there are a lot of gems in there. If youre willing to accept a few scratches on the back of a piece in trade for a $500-$1000 discount, youll love this place.
My wife and I shop their regularly but we were most impressed by the service of Emmett and his colleague during a recent delivery. The desk I purchased has several outlets but when it was delivered, we noticed the electrical cord was missing. Emmett took ownership of the issue this morning and stated he would follow-up with us in a few days after he checked around in the store. He surprised us by dropping off the electrical cord the same day!!!From the interaction during COVID, to the professionalism of the floor staff, to the accountability of the delivery drivers, you have earned customers for life!!! Covid Times: Be ready for a suuuuuuper long line. So long that you need a snack (or maybe a full meal). Bring your Thermos and wool socks, cause itll be awhile but that amazing couch you want will be worth it. Or will it? This photo was taken by me, in a line wrapped around the entire parking lot. I love it how everyone there puts their feet up on couches and walks across the rugs with their shoes on, or when people set there babys car seat on top of a wooden table or cabinet.
Interesting and a great excuse to go out on a Saturday or Sunday. Lines to get in are common even pre Covid. Best times to see most new items is first thing in morning. Checkout process is easy.
Its a very nice place to shop, if you can afford the furniture.
This is the site for the discount showroom on Saturdays and Sundays. The pieces can be floor models, overstock, special order returns, scratch and dent, or discontinued close out. Anywhere from 20-75% off retail! Pieces are first come first serve and there is a line before open. If you want something, raise your hand and they will write it up. If someone else raised their hand first you are SOL. Shipping is reasonable. You can carry out small pieces or bring a truck/trailer and they will load you up right away. All the employees are friendly and helpful.
Know what you are looking for. Get there early. And be prepared to claim what you want quickly. No time of being iffy about whether you want that furniture piece...cause someone else will.The staff is really helpful. There is a cartoon room for kiddos to hang out in. Make sure you look the piece over carefully before you buy. Often its minor reasons that its at the outlet, but sometimes it can be a bit more.
Love the R&B outlet!! They are only open on the weekends. The store is composed of all of the room and board items that people have returned from all over the US. We have saved hundreds of dollars on pieces or furniture that we have found there. It you are looking for something specific you may have to go a couple of times to find it. Well worth waiting though!
Love the option of a Room & Board outlet. Great, unique furniture at reduced prices. Theres a separate kid area with a TV and seating for restless kiddos (that was pre-COVID).

One of my favorite adventures! The highest quality furniture for amazing prices. We have stocked our house with things from the outlet and never had a problem with a single piece. As much as I’d love to tell you to forget about it so the lines are shorter, I just can’t, it’s too good! If you love R&B furniture, make the stop.
Room & Board Outlet is the best way to get super high quality furniture on a deal. You have to show up before it opens, well before because a line will form of eager patrons waiting to get in. When it opens the line will stretch around the building and the rush of people in will be like a war zone. People will bring there extended family to have them save furniture. Great deals and it is kinda it’s own event.

If you like the hunt then this place is for you! You just never know what you might find. Most items are made in the USA. Some items are new and in perfect condition. Some items are scratch and dent. Once in awhile there is a prototype for sale. Friendly and knowledgable staff on hand to help with questions. Excellent delivery service available or bring it home yourself. If you get there at opening time, be prepared for a lot of people. Just think State Fair.
Shopping here is something of a bloodsport.Theres nearly always a huge line (a good problem) and rush at the door when the place opens as bargain hunters fan out into the space.If theres an item youre looking for you have to go early to stand any chance of purchasing it.Go with another person. Youll need a friend/significant other/mistress to babysit any item youre interested in lest it be swept out from under you while you shop the rest of the store.If you do find something then youre getting a top tier piece of furniture at a decent price. Give it a shot!
Overpriced with limited selection
There is always an opportunity to find great pieces of furniture and at a great price. However you have to be ready to buy something you like or the Id a high likelihood it will not be there later. All sales are also final so know your measurements and inspect the piece carefully.
This place is incredible and a Minneapolis icon for interior design. Great quality products at great prices and the staff is incredible! Saturday at Opening is a one of a kind experience.

If youre patient and can come back a few times, you can score a great deal on well made furniture. We are lucky to have access to this store. Its around back of their corporate office and its where Room and Board sells off their returns, samples, canceled special orders etc.I have several pieces from there and continue to collect as I find things I like.
This place offers really great deals on otherwise uber expensive furniture. Just be sure you know what youre buying. Go over everything with a fine-toothed comb. The only reason I gave them a four rather than a five star rating is because they scratched the credenza I bought in the process of moving it or wrapping it in plastic. That said, Im really pleased with my purchase. Saved $1,000 on a beautiful piece for the tiniest bit of wear.

Good place to get quality furniture for less. Not open for a large amount of time, only Saturday and Sunday, but has a good amount of stuff. The furniture changes every weekend. You have to be ready to go a few times for what you are looking for as they have a limited selection.A lot of designers open the store up, so it is packed at the first hour or so. Then it settles down.
I had such a wonderful first time experience yesterday!Stood in the freezing cold for a half hour before they opened. There was a slow growing anxiety about what was to come, and I totally got carried away into it. But to my surprise the wonderful people working there calmed me right down. Reminding me to measure and be sure, maybe to wait and come back (there might be something new). I went from the feeling of “I have to buy something RIGHT. NOW!” To a much more relaxed and enthusiastic shopping experience.

What an adventure. Get there at 9:30am on Saturday. Yes I know it doesnt open until 10am. Look at the catalog beforehand to know what you like. Dont be too picky or someone else will buy it.

Some good stuff but a lot of questionable looking items..think green velvety couch circa the 70s. Ive been to outlets before and it doesnt necessarily mean damaged goods, but here it does. The more scratched /damaged, the cheaper it is. Some items still quite expensive even though they are damaged. Missing shelves, etc.
31 reviews1.0 star rating 2/8/2016I ordered 3 white metal cooper benches, and 2 of the 3 came with obvious welding marks right down the center of the benches. I communicated my dissatisfaction of the defects to R&B, and the agreed to replace them. Upon bringing the benches all the way back, and picking up the new replacement benches, the replacement benches had the same welding marks. Room & Boards explanation was that these marks are going to be on all cooper benches. Why they would even agree to replace the benches knowing that the replacements would have the exact same issue is beyond me. Whats especially frustrating, I have bought these same exact benches 3 years ago (2 of them), and they are perfect, not a single welding mark is there. Room & Board has completed wasted my time, and patience. Shame on them for not understanding the issue completely.
This place is a great spot to find Room & Board furniture at a discount. I have friends that come by every weekend while theyre trying to shop for a room. Theres always new product coming in to the outlet each weekend, so visit frequently if youre looking for something specific.
Great deals on Room & Board pieces here at their only outlet store. Most are scratch and dent, returns, overstocks, samples or discontinued items. Great markdowns from the regular price if youre willing to deal with massive crowds and come back every weekend to find what youre looking for. Everythings sold as is so look the stuff over REALLY well. Make sure its really what you want before you buy it because there are no returns and everything here is a final sale. Go to the Edina store first to figure out what you want and then come to the outlet to find a deal. Oh and no phone orders. You have to be here in person to buy stuff.

Makes you wonder who is posting??Let me try again...Staff was pleasant, nice and very helpful. Store is clean and well lit. Store directions were a little tricky (from Google maps).NOT all of the furniture is made in the USA. The prices are very high for the outlet bargain room declaration. Meaning dont expect to pay minimal $ for a peice of furniture. They do have some very fine pieces of furniture of highest quality workmanship, no doubt. I would say if you have a household income of $275k and up with no kids at home you will be pleased with the stores offerings. If you are looking for a bargain on a $2,500 chair you can find it here for $1,625. Perhaps you want a $8,230 couch for $4,685. You can find that deal here.I enjoyed the visit and look forward to returning in the future to look for trendy stuff. Shop USA and Minnesota in this store, except the stuff made overseas.
Place to be if you have a home that needs furniture. The prices are higher than ikea but so is the quality. Much higher. People line up for the 10 AM Saturday opening so if you have a certain item in mind (sectional, bed, dresser) you’d be wise to show up early and plunk your butt on what you want as soon as possible. Typically, I’d say things are 20-40% off but there are better deals to be had, though I don’t know how things are priced. We bought a nice glider for 50% off and it’s held up very wellPS - there’s free coffee.PPS - there’s a kids room and always plenty of children running around.
Be careful!! God knows what happened in their warehouse.I bought furniture here. When they delivered, I found some parts were missing. Customer service argued it was like that in the show room, and would only sell you the parts at high price. No repair, No refund, No return, No explanation. It is all your customers fault.
Good quality stuff, scratch and dent, reasonably priced for R&B. Used to be better before their parent company started selling knock offs instead of real deal high end furniture. You can still find the odd item here thats amazing but its fewer and further between.
I flew into MSP to hit the outlet for one weekend and found exactly what I was looking for, for a great price. Yes, it has a flaw but it was a great price (because of this flaw), and for me the flaw isnt a big deal at all for nice solid wood furniture that will get used everyday.

If youre in the market for modern furniture, you can stop here for a bit of a dollar break. Its still mid to upper average price points and I can not speak personally to the quality. Selection is limited, and pieces are customs, discontinued and scratch and dents. Selection is always changing.

I felt the furniture was over priced compared to some places. It isnt furniture that is really special. It is pretty simple furniture and very expensive. I dont think I will ever visit it again

This place can get pretty hectic in the mornings, but the deals are pretty solid. Generally stuff is around 30% off, but there are some steals to be had if you get there really early. The staff was helpful and the room layout was easy to navigate.
If you dont mind a lot of people this is a killer place to get a great deal. They have new things every week and its always fun to see whats new. Its a scratch and dent sale house but we have gotten a lot of things with damage disclosures on them and still have not found the damage.
