My first visit here was for an inspection. I came out and it was a busy day, but he inspected my vehicle and had it out two hours later. Charged the amount quoted and I felt I had found a good place.My second visit was a completely different experience. Only a few cars, but they were under staffed. Two people called out. I was quoted a price of $60 and told it would be no more than $120 after taxes and fees if it took two hours. It was $175 and change. Which is a violation of NC General Statute 20-354.5 which states that any price after the service cannot be any more than 10% of the quoted price given. Whether its written, typed or orally given.They took 45 minutes to do the work but waited another 30 minutes to put it into the computer. By their explanation, if a job takes over an hour then they have to charge for two. I explained it took 45 minutes and he changed the story to the computer said it should have taken two, so it has to be rung up as two hours. I could see I wasnt going to get anywhere talking to him so I paid the money and left. The work is subpar. I can tell they didnt tighten the brakes, because at my age its not the first pair of brakes I have had replaced.When the owner is there, its a great place to use. When he is away, its a whole different experience. Which should never be the case. I was hoping I would have a great experience so I could finally write up a glowing review, because I rarely write a review after a single visit. But after talking to long time customers who were also disappointed, while I was there, its clear to me that something needed to be said. I know the owner reads these and replies quickly. I understand they were under staffed, I work retail and know that struggle. But I dont understand being quoted a maximum price and getting a higher price after. 10% of $120 is $12. It should have been no more than $132 not $175.My uncle owned a garage, my grandfather worked in shops his whole life, my cousins have worked on cars most of their lives. I know what the laws are and all about the book. And to be honest, if not for the vehicle being unsafe to operate for long distances, I probably would have driven the three hours up there to get the work done if I knew that this was what I could expect. I used to go to Tiptons, but he only works on one or two cars at a time and it would be a few days. I wish he had more employees because he does better work and always quotes exactly the time and price it takes to get the work done.I gave Ash Street a chance since I had great service with the inspection. But I am going back to someone I have trusted for over twenty years for my car repairs. Which is a shame because the owner seems like a stand-up guy. Just wish the person in charge today was just as awesome.

Today was my first visit to Ash Street Inspection & Tire. I was very impressed! I needed an inspection on my lunch break. They had me in and out in a jiffy. I dealt with two employees there and they both were very courteous. Jamie was the name of one of the employees but Im not sure of the name of the other young man. I observed Jamies interactions with customers on the phone and in the shop. He was so professional and helpful with everyone that I thought he was the owner. I highly recommend these folks!

Love going here. I’ve been going here for several years now. They get the job done even if they are busy. The owner Eric is rarely there but when he is he’s very friendly and nice. Been there twice now. Once for tire mounting and another because I had a slow leak in one tire. They were very courteous and knowledgeable. Went in for an inspection. Quick service. The guy noticed my windshield wiper wasnt sweeping properly and adjusted it. Ive had trouble with that wiper for many years and no one else has known what to do with it. Works perfectly now. Id give these guys 6 stars if I could.

Good place for tires, tire repairs, oil change, replace brakes and car inspection. They probably do more, but these were the services I went there for. I am very careful about who does what to my car and I have yet to be disappointed.

I have bought 4 used tires here. The first two were good tires, the 3rd one had a broken belt when it was put on, and the 4th one, I heard something rattle around in the wheel well for a few seconds when I pulled out. Later, when I got up to highway speed, it made the whole van shake. I went back, the guy looks at it and says its fine. I go to another place, this one actually checks the balance, and said the noise I heard earlier was probably a wheel weight that hadnt been put on properly. He rebalanced the tire and now its fine.
