This place will definitely bring nostalgia if you grew up going to a penny candy store.Staff was super nice and helpful.There is something for everyone. From a large sugar free selection to fully loaded sugar. Different sizes from kids to large and extra large if you get a Big Ole Drumstick as they call it.My youngest said the fudge was thick in her sundae so she knows its real. My middle child said her double chocolate milkshake was a Kid vs Food challenge for her.Will definitely go back again.

Our family loves Lazy Dog! They have a notable sized selection of vegan sweets, and their visual merchandizing is top notch. The second you step into their entryway you are transported to a simpler, happier time. It is colorful, bright, and smells delicious! If I have one want from them, it would be dairy-free ice-cream options. They do have some Italian Ice options, but a creamy Oatmilk cone would be extra lovely. Its unfortunate to see business slowing down due to the closure of Mill Street. I really wish we could easily swing by to pick up an after-school treat, but its definitely more challenging to unload all the kids a few blocks away and make the trek. I really hope they can stay in business!! And it must be noted that even in the busiest of times their customer service is always on point. This isnt to say that you wont have to wait, because sometimes you just DO have to wait, but its totally worth it, and you will have the full attention of your Chocolaterista. Definitely check it out if youre in town!

Nothing like that old style candy shop to really bring the inner kid out. Wide selection of chocolates and candies. The most awesome part about this place is the variety of ice cream, gelato, ice cream bars and ice cream sandwiches. Everything is made locally and everything is absolutely amazing. Particularly recommend the Baileys Irish cream ice cream bar

They are so rude! I walked in and (most likely because Im black) got ignored at first but as I started shopping was being watched constantly like I was stealing with my dog. They had so much candy i couldnt believe it. it was better then are candy store in live oak. had the biggest ice cream ever. took me 45min just to get halfway done and still didnt finish.

Had a sugar cone with a split scoop of pecan ice cream and honey lavander ice cream. Life cant taste any better than that. Parking can be difficult but we got lucky and found a spot right in front of the store (parallel parking). It a nice small old downtown area, you can get your ice cream and walk around window shopping.

This is listed as a candy store, but actually, Lazy Dog is the inventor and purveyor of the greatest ice cream sandwich that is available to mankind in the modern era.This is basically the highlight of visits to Grass Valley. At this point I have tried every flavor. It used to be I came for the CBA fathers day bluegrass festival, but now I come for the ice cream sandwiches.

Went there and had a lavender ice cream. The people were very helpful and super nice and then I had the ice cream! Never had lavender ice cream before, very creamy and the flavor is not overbearing. What a fun place to come. So colorful and delightful. Reminiscent of an old candy shop I used to go to as a child. The ice cream here is absolutely delicious. They have so many flavors its hard to choose. Plus they have ready-made ice cream bars and huge ice cream cones covered with chocolate and almonds. The ice cream is very reasonably priced and is made to their specifications and Sacramento.

Busy shop with everything sweet! Plenty of staff for those customized yummies. A bit pricey for everyday sweets, but they have such a great selection definitely worth the little extra splurge for convenience, or for that special someone. I am very pleased with Lazy Dog Chocolateria. They have been making specialty chocolates (shaped like feet since I am a foot doctor) for over ten years. They make great gifts. Paula and the staff have been wonderful about accommodating my sometimes last minute, large orders.

We wandered in when we noticed the sign at the door saying they had VEGAN strawberry coconut ice cream. Vegan ice cream at the local chocolate shop? Count us in!When we went in, they had a ton of different candies, and the chocolates looked amazing. When I inquired about any vegan chocolate options, the girl behind the counter gave us a laminated list of all the dairy-free options available (I noticed they also had one for gluten-free treats).We bought a couple of dark chocolate peanuts butter cups and also got the strawberry coconut ice cream. The ice cream was different than we were expecting--more like a sherbert--but it was still delicious. Light and refreshing with specks of strawberry throughout.This place is vegan-friendly and totally cute, so I would absolutely come back again when I find myself in town.

Went in there today hoping they were open and they were to my surprise they were but as soon as we walked in the person attending great us but then got on the phone. We were looking to see what ice cream to get and she never acknowledged us or said anything. So about waiting for 5 mins and no contact from her we decided to leave and all she said was Happy Easter. Amazing Death by Chocolate gelato and great selection of candies and chocolates. The whole place was very cute and interesting and the staff members were attentive and friendly. Deducted one star because bistro tables were not clean and there were some visible cobwebs around the overhead decorations.

It would be hard for me to imagine not loving any chocolate shop, but this one is my favorite that I’ve been to. Decorated nicely, lots of options, plenty of friendly staff so you aren’t waiting. In the summer I go for the gelato or ice cream and winter time I go for the chocolate. I’ve never had anything I don’t like here.

I love everything about this place! We always take family here when they come to town. And it is our favorite place to take the kids for a treat. Their Kahlua gelato is my favorite but seems to be seasonal.
