I am really impressed with this store. They have a lot of variety, international, organic foods which are fresh, last a while in the refrigerator. The chicken is fresh, the only thing they are missing is an onsite cafe juice and coffee bar

I used to shop here every week. I only shop there if I cant find something anywhere else now. It seems they think they are Whole Foods with their prices. The prices can be deceiving, especially on produce. While another store sells produce by the pound, they sell for the same price-for each one! Ever since the other Stop&Shop in Hamden closed a few years back, the prices shot up incredibly compared to nearby supermarkets. Even when the other store was still open, prices at this store was higher, although they were on the same road, a few miles apart. I cant see much advantage to shopping here. The only positive thing I can say is that the older employees (especially Lisa in the deli, from the old store) are VERY friendly and helpful. Speaking of the deli, if shes not there, youre taking your chances, because some of the deli people are....less than friendly and helpful.

I split my shopping between S & S and Big y in Cheshire. Because Big y has no mask mandate, I only shop here now. Im happy to see most customers wearing masks properly, but I wish I could say the same for the employees. Most are under the nose and one employee in produce, (older guy, mustache, grey hair) doesnt even wear a mask. Two days in a row i went, and neither day he had one on. We all hate wearing them, but it has to be done even if you are vaccinated to end this pandemic. Aside from that, i enjoy shopping there.

Stopped here for gas as we were passing through, they had most of what we needed but most of the breakfast sandwiches were gone and it was still early morning. As busy as this place is it might be understandable though, so all in all a nice convenience store and the service was good 🙂

Natasha at the bakery was very helpful, friendly and artistic. She did a great job on the cake we purchased.

Costumers service doesn’t work at all, not helpful or even understanding the problem. and at the end they changed the words that spoke to me tell the manager the complete opposite

Great place to work for and great employees and the management is amazing

Save yourself 20 minutes and go anywhere else, checkout here is a nightmare.The self-check registers are calibrated incorrectly and are so sensitive that they lock up multiple times if you try to bag items while you scan. This results in huge lines and customers waiting for employees to unlock/bypass each register.

Out of all the Stop & Shops Ive been too, which are like 5 or 6 of them. This is my #1 Stop & Shop.Ive been going here for over 5 years love this store.Have such a friendly staff where you ask for help and they stop doing what they are doing to go help you out .Not like in other stores whether it be stop & shop or not where some days they treat you nice and others like they dont want to be there . I can honestly say Ive never ever had a bad experience at this store.And thats why I changed my rating from a 4 star to a 5star. They deserve it.👍👍👍Thank you guys I really appreciate you all.

So resourceful. 24 Hours! Beat the rush if you must, food stamp champ! Sometimes Im in the organic aisle where 3 out of 100 shoppers actually go. Great herbal teas. Fine oils. All types of produce, best nut selection around. Fine meat selection. Police presence. Great supplement selection. And all the processed garbage (ahem, food like substance) you can eat! 🙈🙉🙊

Good variety of goods. Produce very good. Quality of meat has gone down, do I get my meat elsewhere.

Getting sandwich meat from the Deli..is sometimes a problem. If you order from the Deli it shouldnt be an issue to wipe down the blade and change your gloves...but when you ask...it seems to be a issue... Cross contamination applies..when you tell the person to change there gloves..they seem to have a problem..

I like this store for the most part, but the employees do not wear their masks properly, if at all.

Went for the specials, there were a number of socials this week that interested me.

Limited items to shop ....not enough cashiers......not a place I want to shop in....

Ive been shopping at S&S almost my whole life, they have everything you could need, and if they dont Carry a certain item you need, just ask the manager to order it, they will usually accommodate you.

I find shopping in a supermarket very hard. I have severe arthritis and find walking difficult. Stop and Shop has a large variety of everything.Their food is always very fresh and top grade. I would highly recommend them for their lovely displays and delicious and nutritious foods.

Extremely high priced in overrated how much prefer to go to Price rite or save a lot

My reply to the S&S managements response to my review:All that what you say is positive, except half the people ignore the arrows - theres no one at the doors accounting for the occupancy (there were more than 125 people inside) - half the people ignored the arrows - people crowded in the aisles - I saw no sanitation wiping anywhere. This store is an example of a careless Stop & Shop - and that is on the manager.None of the store personnel were taking any notice of the poor behavior rampant throughout the store. A PA announcement could have helped, but none was made in the time I was there.I was considering taking video to send to the Hamden Health Department. Instead, I will not return to this store.- - - - - - - - - - - - - -My original review, to which S&S management responded:I have shopped in Stop & Shop stores, from the southernCT shore up into Boston, and my observation is that too many of the customers at this location ignore the social distancing signage throughout the store. Stop and shop Hamden CT is a great place to shop. Big variety to pick from, vegetable galore, Fish and spices.

Busy but organized. Incorporated social distancing throughput the store with pa reminders. Coordinated cashier and self checkout to assure social distancing and expedient service.

The self-checkout needs work as scanning the barcodes on some produce requires assistance from store employee.

I was racially profiled by another person of color while at the self check-out line. The female staff member stood directly behind me while I checked myself out up until my debit card was approved. Just because she is a person of color does not give her the right to stalk me at the check out while multiple white customers were able to self check out freely. I was picking up necessary items for my daughters birthday. Otherwise i would have left all the merchandise at the register. I will not be shopping there again.

Hamden stop & shop is pretty good. Its always very busy though. So not the place to go if your in a hurry. It seems that the prices are different in all the stop & shops? They seem to be a little less at this one. This one hasnt been redone like most of the others

After decades of being a loyal customer of ShopRite, I have switched to Stop &Shop. Everything is fresher, the meats, deli items, are all superior. And, I dont worry about being mugged in the parking lot, like I did at the Plaza...

Fresh produce, always well stocked.

Fond some great deals. I normally dont shop here but ExxonMobil is connected. The more points you earn by shopping at participating retail, them more you save at the pump.It was a little crowded, but I also realized. That shopping here at night; right before it closes is alot better.

Great selection of items and prices are decent I wish staff would be more vigilant about customers/staff wearing masks over nose and going down aisles in proper direction.

Curbside takeout is a wonderful feature. Orders have been very accurate. Fee reasonable. Staff very polite and competent. Usually possible to find a time for the day you place the order.

My boyfriend and I were looking around all evening for live lobsters and ending up coming to Stop & Shop after our google search pointed us in its direction. The seafood area unfortunately shut down a little sooner due to the employees extended shift but online it stated they were open until 8pm. Winston from the Deli department advised us promptly why someone wasn’t there during they’re stated opening hours and upon our request for a manager, immediately put in a request for the manager to meet us in the seafood department. While waiting, Gerald from the meats department came over and advised he covers shifts for the seafood department when they’re on break and would be happy to helps us! The manager arrived quickly explaining the situation and the unlikelihood of it happening as well. Gerald grabbed, bagged, weighed and labeled our lobsters like a pro! We were and still are thankful for everyone’s participation and our great customer service experience! Our lobster dinner came out fantastic as well. They were large, contained plenty of meat and the price was great! Thank you everyone

Extremely busy this eveming as its supposed to snow in the morning AND tomorrow is Superbowl Sunday! Cashier was fast and efficient as well as friendly and courteous.

The original trip was ordinary, which means great, because it was as expected.When I got home the half/half was chunky, disgusting. So I went back to return them, the young lady at the service center was rude and very demanding. There is no refunds, even with the receipt and a person must get exact item.Why would I want more chunky creamer? I came back with something cheaper and she still complained. Unbelievable

Its a good store. Clean orderly. Big selection of organic and natural products. Natures own is reasonably priced and a good brand if you want to eat a bit better on a budget. I enjoy shopping there. Would be better if it were a bit cheaper..but overall decent and fair. I would recommend shopping there.

Super busy, shopping before a winter storm, everything was still stocked ...

I stopped shopping at stop and shop for a reason I usually shop at aldis but sense it was so busy I decided to go here.Keep in mind it was not busy at all some workers were wearing masks some were not.A lot of workers were just in groups doing nothing talking to each other. I was trying to figure out how to get to the cash register I had to walk all around the store still couldn’t figure it out tried saying out loud I did not know how to get to the cash register,” no acknowledgement of me”. I gave up and just went through where you go out and the lady who was doing absolutely nothing, wasn’t even wearing a mask and gave me an attitude says,” OK but you still have to walk all the way around”. So I get upset because I don’t know what she is talking about where I’m suppose to go I’m Just trying to pay for groceries I can’t even afford while not working. She was refusing to take me even though she clearly saw I was frazzled and ready to cry she was gonna make me walk all the way around again.I understand if you had customers it was busy but it wasn’t also if she cared so much about protocol call she would be wearing a mask.Instead she was giving me an attitude about it.That to me is horrible customer service I almost just left my groceries there for them to put away again. I am so upset about this new trend of workers in grocery stores giving attitude and they think it’s okay and they could get away with it because everything that’s going on. This all happened around 7:30 at night. I am thinking about going to her boss today about it.

The reason I gave stop n shop a five star review was NOT because of the store, but the PHARMACY. I have been going to stop n shop pharmacy for 20 yrs. This is by far the better staffed than anywhere else I have been.

The selection is excellent and the staff are polite. There is a big variety of gluten free, organics, and food from different ethnicities, with freshly made sushi. It is not an upscale grocery experience, but you can get the food you need, especially if you have special dietary needs. The gas points also are helpful.

Great selection throughout the store. Much better than the S & S where I live (on the shore in New Haven county). A lot more and better choices. I shop here whenever I visit with my daughter in Hamden.

As soon as I was walking in the door an employee was complaining about cleaning the carts. Alarming in light of Covid 19!!! Its not over yet. We still need to be vigilant! Yes its an additional step an inconvienant, but so is being on a respirator !

I dont usually shop there but they have something that I can only get there.

I really like this supermarket. It’s really organized and has a big variety of products. There is a lot of organic options.The only problem with this place is the AC/Heating. In summer, the place is the North Pole inside. And in winter, it’s the Caribbean inside.Besides that, great supermarket.

I love Stop and Shop. Generally a clean grocery store with an excellent option for vegans/vegetarians. They have 2 aisles dedicated to better health choices. For the most part produce is always fresh and they have organic options available.

I live close to stop and shop. I have been seeing lot of fungus on strawberries, tomatoes and tortillas. This happened 3 times. Please don’t go here.

Waited in courtesy desk over 15 minutes one woman was taken care of and little old lady buying 500 lottery tickets the other girl was standing there typing something into her computer while there was like 10 of us in line and didnt make a move to help anybody finally I left my groceries and went home very poor experience if I were in that store there be more than two people there and there be a supervisor checking in to make sure if there is someone there theyre actually helping people

You have the folks who really care about their Fish, Meats, Deli departments.Bakery too. They all do their best! Love you!

Roaming the aisles of this wonderful Stop&Shop is one of the many joyous parts of taking a trip to Stop&Shop. NO. Its just a normal stop and shop. Good selection, ran out of my favorite veggie meatballs so Im kind of annoyed with that, but its just a normal Stop&Shop, s there anything else to say about that.

Go every day to return bottles
