A true hidden gem! I purchased a cello here last year in October. I had done plenty of research and shopping around visiting Day Violins, Peter Prier, and Summerhays. The cello I decided on was made of 8 year aged wood and had Spirocore tungsten G and C strings for an added bonus. Now a year later Im very happy with my purchase. The cello absolutely sings! It came with a semi hard case and a bow. The customer service was pretty good too. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase again in the future. Truly a wonderful place to purchase stringed instruments.

Fantastic experience restoring an old family violin! We were told by other places that it wasnt worth it, but Alan was able to make the violin playable, and at a reasonable price to boot! He noticed all the little details and gave the violin new life. Definitely recommend!

We bought my daughters violin fromMicelli 3 years ago, the experience was such a positive one that when my son decided to start cello in 7th grade orchestra, it was a complete no-brainer who we would purchase from. I was able to arrange the meeting through text message, which is a MUST for my forgetful “Mom brain” as it helps to have pretty much everything in writing so I can refer back to it.Alan and Leslie gave my son and I individualized attention with excellent suggestions within my budget and my son chose a beautiful sounding full-size cello for an amazing price. Micelli was referred to us 3 years ago by about 4 different people… for excellent reasons. When it comes time to upgrade we will definitely be back…

Very personal cello buying experience. Alan sat down with us for quite a while basically educating us on cellos. He stays within the price range you need him to and doesnt pressure you at all to buy more than what you can afford. We left with a great deal on a cello that would have cost us 30% more at a store. With Alan you not only get a better quality cello with great sound for your money, but also an education. A person that can restore and repair cellos is the best person to buy from as well. Highly recommend for any level! Only complaint is I wish he lived closer to us:)

Great to work with, and very accommodating! Want to pay off your instrument sooner? Great! Need to spread it out a bit longer? No problem! Always willing to make an arrangement that works for both you and their company. A bit of a drive from SLC, but definitely worth it, so don’t let the distance scare you away! Quality instruments, quality service.

We had a good first experience at Micelli Violins. We sized up my kids to the correct violins and I was happy to have help with that. The prices seemed reasonable (about what I expected after calling a different place as well). The price included a nice case, and a bow. I was happy to know about their trade-in program where you get most of the money back to go towards the next size violin. There were several brands of instruments to choose from, which was nice as well. For a business that is run out of a home, I think Micelli Violins does a nice job with their presentation. By that I mean their business cards, a beautiful website, a professional approach, and an atmosphere that is also friendly and down to earth. I didnt feel pressured or anything either. Being able to use Venmo for payment was a bonus that you may not find at another instrument store. We look forward to working again with Micelli Violins and establishing an ongoing friendship with Leslie and Alan!

I am so pleased that I found Micelli Violins! After shopping for a cello for my son online and in local music stores, the best experience, by far, was with Alan. He gave several options, taught me the value of one instrument over another, beautifully demonstrated the tone of each cello and answered all of my questions. His pricing was more than fair and Alan is wonderful to work with. I recommend him highly and will be going back for any instrument needs we may have in the future.

I had an amazing experience with Alan. He helped me pick the perfect cello and gave me an exceptional deal for it. His prices are all much lower than the other shops because of running it out if there home. I was able to purchase what would have been a 5 thousand dollar cello at any shop for only 3200. He was very helpful in showing me many great options to choose from and narrowing down the right pick. Knowing now how low their prices are and how awesome Alan is to work with i dont see myself going anywhere else. They can also fix instruments at a lower cost and am going to be taking my Peter Prier cello in for some work. Recommend Micelli Violins 100 percent.

What a wonderful experience shopping for a cello. Micelli Violins was so helpful, professional and personal to my needs and wants. Alan helped educate me on ALL the questions and concerns that came up for me (which were MANY since I am a beginning cellist!) I had already purchased one for $300 on KSL but ended up hating the tone of it. I also rented one from Riverton Music that wouldve cost me over $1,100, same level of cello that Alan starts at $850. Once I had these experiences, copuled with Alans expert (seriously!) service, I was happy to spend $1,800 plus tax for my handcrafted cello (in Beijing) and pernambuco bow. Cant say enough thanks to Alan at Micelli Violins. If youre in the market for a string instrument these are the guys to buy from! Just give them a call and youll see the difference.

There are very few companies left that I know of with the care and attention you will find at Micelli Violins! Which is equaled only by their knowledge and professionalism. We felt like family from the first moment we walked in! My daughters violins are her babies and I see this same love and care in the owner Alan Heath with every instrument that enters his shop! He gave us a wonderful deal on the violin we bought from him from France. And most recently, we took in a very old violin from Germany that we were fortunate enough to purchase from someone that needed some definite TLC. The restorations he did on it were incredible!!! Better than I ever could have hoped!! I will never go anywhere else for anything strings related!!! His prices are the best I have found and his customer service cannot be matched!!

My son really needed a 3/4 size cello and we couldnt find anything for under 500.00 except rentals, which are a ripoff since they give a small percentage towards ownership. I found Micelli on Facebook and was pleased with the cello being under 400.00 and like new with a great sound and brand new bow. Leslie was knowledgeable and gave great advice to my son on posture etc. We can even trade in his cello for 90% of the value when he gets a full. I am so glad I found them.

I am super impressed with Micelli Violins! I have been looking for a viola for my son for about 2 years when I came across their name. Alan was so patient with all of my questions over a few weeks time going back and forth. He helped me select an excellent instrument, bow and case within my budget. I look forward to being a repeat customer. My only regret is not being able to give 10 stars!

Where to start! Excellent service and great pricing on a wide selection of string instruments. Alan and Leslie were knowledgeable, patient, and helpful, answering all my questions and even adjusting my favorite pick until it achieved its best sound. They have some nice bow options as well, and everything is priced in a way that even the Internet cant beat. Micelli is appointment based, so you get lots of individual attention that leaves you feeling helped rather than sold to. These are approachable folks who want to offer you a quality instrument, a good deal, and an ongoing professional relationship—they do repairs and adjustments too. For my own needs—step-up violins under $1,500—this company was the best option because I felt that others in Utah County lack in-store variety in that price range. (Here, I tried half a dozen violins and got to hear and feel the differences between manufacturers and models, and at other shops, I got to try 1-3 options, all from the same manufacturer.) This company does a great job in every way, so if youre in the market for a string instrument, give them a go!

I was very impressed with the professionalism as well as the knowledge when it came to purchasing a violin. I felt like they were fair and their prices were great. They also mentioned that when we need to get the violin serviced we can call them and they do it for extremely reasonable prices. I feel like we got a quality product for what we payed and not just the bottom of the line. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Alan and Leslie were knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and kind. They spent more than an hour with us educating and helping us find the perfect violin for our needs. We were complete novices when it came to purchasing a quality violin, and Alan was an amazing help through the process. Their prices can’t be beat, and we are thrilled with what we ended up getting. They made a process that could have been daunting and intimidating a very pleasant one. I highly highly recommend Alan and Leslie!

Man, this was a great experience. Im not a musician—I dont know much about violins, but from the moment I called them up to the moment I left with my wifes restored violin, I felt respected, I knew I was getting a great deal, and I knew my wifes violin would be very well cared-for.Leslie answered my phone call and I told her I didnt know what really needed to be done on my wifes old violin and that it was a surprise gift for Mothers day. She was very friendly and told me her husband Alan would need to play it to know what really needed to be done. 5 minutes is all. She also told me Alan repairs string instruments as more of a love for the art and offers really good prices because they dont have the overhead of big businesses. They could get me in the same day! I told her I might have my four young children with me and she said Alan is really good with kids.I rolled up to their home where they do business with my kids. Alan answered the door and was very bright and cheery. The kids were welcomed and found a place to sit on a cozy couch amongst all sorts of string instruments in an immaculate living room while Alan looked over the violin. Right away I knew he was an expert as he saw a dozen things I didnt even notice. Some dings here, some polish needed there. He carefully helped me understand what each repair was for and what it would cost. Alan showed me the neck of the violin and how if he were to remove the varnish, hand movement across the strings would be much easier. He also noticed the bow was of low quality fiberglass construction and showed me some bows made of hard wood and that would produce a much better sound. He brought out several samples and showed me how each differed and what they would cost. When I chose one I thought my wife would like he looked at it closely, noticed the bow had a slight outward bend, and—instead of selling it to me—found another bow nearly identical to it, but straight and said it would be much better. Alan even knew that this was a gift for my wife without me telling him (I assume Leslie told him the details) and helped me see how it would be a wonderful part of the gift. He quoted me a price for the bow that was at less than half of what it would cost at a big music store. The whole meeting was less than 10 minutes and surprisingly my kids were very entertained by all the information they were getting. Lastly, as we finished, Alan had a surprise for the kids. He gave them each a penny and pulled out a Jelly Belly dispensing machine. They each took turns popping in their penny, turning the dial, and grabbing their three jelly bellys. They loved it!I felt no obligation to buy anything. Alan was very friendly, answered all my questions clearly, and ultimately I felt very trusting of his services. He told me it would only be a couple days for the repair, and sure enough, I got a call from him first thing on the day he told me it would be done. I could pick it up anytime. When I got the violin back, it looked brand new. Hed even found other things that needed to be done and just did them. He carved away some ruts so the strings would line up perfectly. He sanded down the finger board because years of use left it dirty. He cleaned a bunch of dust away where resin had permanently stuck it to the wood. He replaced some strings and told me how they were the type that professionals use. He even tuned and played the violin for me there in his beautiful living room. He really cared for this violin. I left with a detailed receipt of his services, complete with discounts. I felt very well taken care of and I knew my wife would really love this gift.I highly, highly recommend Micelli Violins for their customer service, Alans craftsmanship and trustworthiness, and for the great prices! Before heading to one of the big music stores, go visit Alan at Micelli Violins for a really great experience!

After having a very bad experience at Riverton Music Store. Thank God I looked into ksl classify and found Micell Violins store. I contacted them and went to see their violins the next day. They have great prices and beautiful instruments and also my daughter had her first violin class because we didnt know anything about violins. Thank you very much Alan because my daughter came out with a smile from ear to ear and very excited to learn to play violin. It was a very pleasant experience because you explained everything very well thank you for your time
