Prep kitchen, not full kitchen restaurant. Doing their best to impress. Spent about $30 and got 6 thin slices of sushi fish pieces on a large plate and a salad. Great food at a great price! Just goes to show you that simple fresh and flavorful ingredients will always prevail over fancy overpriced tourist attractions! Only fresh caught ahi or not at all. Our server Holly was fantastic! Due to COVID, she did everything except cook!

I really enjoy dining here. Its small and limited seating doesnt accommodate a lot of people so best to come early. Service is consistently good and menu is small but well-crafted and uses quality ingredients.

Easily some of the best sushi I have ever had. As someone who loves Asian food and fish in general I dont say this lightly. Note, its a bit pricy and the menu is tiny (I view this as a plus though since large menus typically mean the food isnt as fresh). Just expect that going in and you will enjoy a wonderful evening with delicious food.

Moms Hilo. Why the name? Because it’s Japanes food made in the natural way. (No MSG ! No way !!) Yuta is the chef owner and explained it. He says “It’s Mom’s food.. it’s from Mother Earth .. Mother Nature.”. Good beer menu .. Big bowls of noodles & vegetables - great ambience. Love this place

One of the best Japanese and Asian restaurant I have ever experienced. This was just delicious, we tasted quite a few things, everything was amazing. The team is super kind and welcoming as well. This place is a must go... we strongly recommend!

Yummy oyster shooters. And the sushi is delicious!. The staff is helpful as well. Nice little spot, a bit inconspicuous so keep your eyes out for the front door. Its a bit hard to tell if they are open ... but once you go in, your in for a treat!Enjoy

The unagi and chicken don was excellent, and the spicy ahi and unagi rolls were both solid. Something to keep in mind, it may take a little while to get food after ordering.

Ive come here three times with my family and each time, hoping for a better experience, recieved the same disappointing scenario. Food is decent for sure, but the service is awful. The floor is always understaffed and the same waitress each time who is stressed and overwhelmed and lets you know about it. Hard to ask for anything, including water refills or anything else. Insanely long wait and grumpy overworked waitress EVERY SINGLE TIME. Whos managing the schedule?? For those prices and portion sizes, should at least have enough staff to cover the floor so she can do her job without having an attitude about it every time.

The Ahi misoparccio is delicious. Cocktails and other rolls are yummy too, reasonably priced.

Their Tan Tan is literally the most incredible flavor I have ever tasted when it come to Japanese foods. If you’re ready to try something unique and Japanese I recommend stopping here for a hearty meal. They also have a great selection of Sake!

Moms is just what Hilo needed. Classy environment, tasty, unique dishes, and fair pricing. Keep it up!!!

Definitely not authentic Japanese food. Don’t expect too much.

Havent walked out a restaurant in well over a decade. I have only walked out of restaurants 2 other times in 50 years. Was seated outdoors, served drinks, placed our order and then we were completely forgotten about despite our gentle attempts to remind 3 different people of our existence. All continued to ignore us. Completely. Seated at the only table outdoors next to parking lot and some loud intoxicated people smoking dope and sitting at the outdoor exit. Paid for our beer and cola and left. Only upon leaving did anyone express interest in serving us after I was already out the door. Wow. Hope the owner uses this feedback to ensure nobody is treated with such disregard in the future.

Oh wow, hands down best food we had on the island, traveling for a month! I was accompanied by my two girls and all our needs and requests were met with care! Waitress was very nice and recommendations were great! My daily special yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño was the best! Very fresh and ingredients were very complimenting in taste! My pineapple cider was great, as well. Every dish we ordered had a little extra twist that made it different from what you usually taste at a sushi restaurant! Chef Albert was very kind and friendly! Try this place, if you are a foodie! Also, music and ambiance was excellent!
