If youre looking for the best pair of ski boots youll ever have, look no further! These guys are boot scientists! Derek is a pro at what he does, and hooked my dad up! He meticulously measured, fitted, made custom orthotics for each foot (in house), heat molded, and then put the finishing touches on the fit. Definitely coming back here in the future!

Superb service and boot fitting. I have struggled with uncomfortable ski boots and foot pain for years. After purchasing my ski boots at The Sport Loft, and getting expert fitting adjustments, I was able to ski with absolutely no foot pain. They homed in on my specific ankle problem and modified the boot to suit my foot. My feet were so comfortable! I recommend The Sport Loft highly. It can be a multi-visit process but the end result is worth it.

Got my boots to fit! Ive had my ski boots stretched at other places multiple times, and was still disappointed with the fit. I heard amazing things about this place, so I figured Id give them a shot.Jeremy listened to my concerns, at was honest about what was possible - telling me the limitations of certain plastics and needing to leave room for the bindings. Im so happy with how my boots turned out!Im an ultra runner with wide forefeet - Altras fit perfect. But ski boots are shaped differently, and Jeremy was able to get my downhill boots to be comfortable. My touring boots are better, but he was limited by the plastic. Next time I buy boots, Ill come here!

Jeremy is by far the best boot fitter I have come across. I was having significant pain in my previous boots and he jumped in to diagnose the problem and customize a pair of boots that let me ski all day. I am recovering from a broken back and he was able to also recommend tips to help me ski my best in the boot I’m in. I am so impressed not only with the knowledge Jeremy brings to the table but also his customer service and care. The entire team at Sports Loft is so wonderful and I cannot recommend them more.

I stumbled upon The Sport Loft and I cant imagine what my next ski season was going to be like if we hadnt. I explained what my issues were and Earl was happy to help me understand what the real problems were and how to fix them. Derek helped with the first stage of the custom fitting, taking multiple measurements of my feet and ankles (I had been to multiple other local ski shops and no one had measured that extensively) I cant recommend this shop enough, everyone is so helpful and friendly!Update: Ive been skiing in my boots for a month now, about 10 times. These boots have completely changed the way I ski and how much I enjoy it! I finally appreciate a great powder day and tree runs because my feet arent numb from hot spots and they actually fit. I cant recommend The Sport Loft enough. Had a minor technical problem with one of the heated liners but they were able to take a look and reset them quickly. The boots are perfect but the service is phenomenal!

I highly recommend the Sport Loft! I was having pretty bad foot pain from tailors bunions, so much so that I didnt want to ski. Derek was really helpful in explaining the options with my boots, never pressuring or upselling and answering all my questions. They then custom fit my ski boots so now theres room for my crazy feet, plus fixed a problem with the liners from when Id had them fit at another store (should have gone to the Sport Loft to start with). The team also expanded my snowboard boots to deal with the same issues. Ive now skiied and toured in the boots with no bunion pain - game changer. Everyone at the store was incredibly nice and the customer service was great. I 100% recommend going here.

I can’t speak highly enough about this group. Even more impressive than the knowledge, tools and techniques they’ve developed to create the perfect boot fit, is the detailed attention they provide to every single customer. They were clearly willing to spend as much time as necessary to make sure that our boots were perfect. There was zero pressure, and zero rush. They explained every single detail, every step of the way. The service they provide is not cheap. Thats a good thing. Its not often that you spend a good amount of money on expert service and feel like you got more than you paid for. You will here. Thanks again!

The ski boots they prepared for me have changed me. I have never experienced this level of comfort and control in a ski boot. I have never been second in the lift line in the morning and last down the mountain, after they close. Never, until last week. I simply couldnt get past the pain..., until now.As for performance, it only gets better. I always had issues with edge control on one edge. So much so, that I came to expect it and avoided more challenging terrain as a result. That all changed this week as well.I will admit, I was skeptical going into the process, but am forever grateful that I did.Thank you

Best boot fitters around in my opinion because they nailed it the first time and I couldnt be happier with my boots, both tour and alpine. Im an instructor and everybody has their boot guy, Jeremy and Derek are definitely my boot guys.It is a small shop and it will be more expensive than other shops but its so worth it. You pay more because they are a full custom shop 100% of the time and not trying to get you out the door. Jeremy and Derek will take the time to pull out some boots and give you options and their opinions. Then they will let you leave and never come back if you want.Yes there are other full custom fitters however you either need to know the specific guy to get or make an appointment, often times both. Sportloft you just walk right in, might have to wait a bit but thats it.Have I mentioned they do tour boots? They fit tour boots. Its awesome and why I came in the first time since the other tour shops dont really do fitting, they just sell the boot. Again, expensive but worth every penny.

I came here a few years figuring that I would try on some ski boots and buy them online for the coming season. I was on vacation skiing the Wasatch at the time and it seemed like a reasonable way to spend my off day. Then my boot fitter (Earl) informed me that they charge for fittings -- a fee that would be deducted from my sale. Amused, I decided to pay the $35. Earl had me take off my socks and shoes and proceeded to inspect my feet so thoroughly that I figured they were owed dinner and a smoke! ;) The fitting took more than 2 hours, but the result was the best fitting pair of boots I have ever owned! Earl knew just by looking at my feet and my old boots what problems I had in my skiing and how my poor boot fit was contributing to them.So a year later I broke my ankle and the boot on that side did not fit well any more. I took the boots back to Sport Loft and they refit it to my newly-formed ankle and they were back to skiing like before.I will NEVER buy boots from anywhere else ever again. I do not live in SLC, but I will absolutely fly to these guys whenever I need a new pair of boots. Trust me...even if you think you have had a proper boot fitting, I guarantee it is NOTHING like what they do at Sport Loft. They are just that good!

If you’re looking for the best fitting ski boots possible, go to The Sport Loft. I got fitted for a pair of boots in the middle of last season and the difference between the generic off the shelf boots I’d been skiing in vs. the pair Jeremy fit me for was night and day! My skiing ability has def improved since upgrading my boots here, and my feet are happier too.The sports loft takes a very through approach to fitting and will take in account the type of skier you are, foot/ankle/leg shape, what boots you were previously skiing etc. The whole process took a little over 3 hours for a molded liner, custom orthotics, canting adjustments etc. Getting boots here is probably a bit more expensive than other places/def more expensive than buying them directly online, but if you’re skiing more than 2-3 times a year, it’s 100% with the investment.

I grew up skiing, but in my mid-20s started having increasingly severe pain in my feet whenever I skied. Eventually I gave up on skiing. A few years ago, a friend recommended the Sports Loft, but I wasnt interested in spending a lot of money on custom boots. Flash forward a few years and my kids are interested in skiing.I went in for an assessment and received a quote. The boots and fitting are definitely expensive. I thought about the purchase for about a month and finally decided to go ahead with it. After my first full day skiing with my kids, the price was worth every penny. For the first time in ~20 years, I was able to enjoy skiing and look forward to many years in these boots as my kids start learning to ski.

If you have any ski boot fitting needs, you need to get boots at The Sport Loft. Ive been on skis for 35 years, but until this ski season Ive never had ski boots that fit right. My feet are a mess. High arches, wide toes, narrow heel, hammer pinky toe, and to top it off, neuropathy under the ball of my left foot. Forever I bought ski boots 2 sizes too big to accommodate my high arch. Enough was enough, so I sought out help from The Sport Loft. Derek and Jeremy sized my foot and ran me through the fitting process. I was skeptical when Jeremy put me in boots 2 sizes smaller than I had been wearing for the past two plus decades. I used to have to take the boot off of the foot with neuropathy at least every other run if not every run because of unbearable pain. I also never really felt my foot was all that stable and secure in my boot. All of that is gone now. The boots I got at The Sport Loft not only fit really, really well, they are down right comfortable. I got a pair of Fischer Ranger One boots with a tech toe for a bit of touring. Ive skied 20 plus days in bounds and toured three times so far this season and the fit and feel is just incredible. I might take them off at lunch just to rest my feet, but otherwise they are fully buckled up all day long and feel great at the end of the day. My skiing performance has improved as well because of better fitting boots. I just cant say enough good about my boot fitting experience with Jeremy and Derek. Definitely seek these guys out if you have any need for specialized boot fitting. Yes, the boots will cost you more. Its worth every extra dollar.

I have been struggling with worsening ankle instability and leg pain even as my skiing ability improved over the last few seasons. I went to Sport Loft after multiple attempts by other shops at heat molding my liners, adding foam bits, and training my arches to fit into typical footbeds left me without improvement. The folks at Sport Loft listened to my issues and offered me an expensive solution: a new pair of alpine boots with several modifications. It has been worth every penny. The pain, instability, and resulting difficulty controlling my skis have all gone away. In short, the boots instantly made me both more comfortable, and a better skier. This was all last season, and I am still extremely happy with the results. This season, I brought in my AT boots because I was experiencing the same instability, pain, and control issues. Instead of immediately trying to sell me another brand new boot, they evaluated my feet in my current boots, and recommended some simple changes to my bindings. Throughout each of my visits they have been patient, attentive, and interested in educating me about my particular issues so that I can ski better.

I cant say enough positive things about my experiences with The Sport Loft! When I was new to the back country scene they took the time to get to know me and the type of skiing that I was looking to do, presented a range of options and recommendations, and ultimately helped me to get booted and never let my gear be the limiting factor in my outdoor adventures. Since my initial encounter I do my best to support a local small business and go there for running, apparel, and accessories for myself and my family. Dont waste your time reading blogs and gear reviews on the internet. Just go to the Sport Loft and ask the experts, chances are they have personal experience with the item that you are looking for and will not only help you with the purchase but if there is something defective with the product they will assist you with the warranty/return (service I have not experienced with big box outdoor outfitters).

Ive been fitted for a lot of boots over my 40+ years of skiing. Earl & Jeremy are hands-down the best boot fitters Ive EVER experienced. First, let me get this out of the way - This is NOT a discount shop, so if you go looking for a bargain you will be disappointed. BUT, if youre looking for exquisite fitting, stellar service, and top of the line gear, this is the place.Im very particular about my boots. I insist on a high performance boot, but even with foot warmers my toes would get so cold Ive had to go inside every few hours. Other boot fitters have told me I need to unbuckle every lift ride and just deal with it because of poor circulation in my feet. Jeremy took a different approach altogether. He thoroughly assessed the structure of my foot and lower leg, identified pressure points that cut circulation, suggested the right boot for my objectives and foot/leg structure, and custom fit me with foot beds, liner and shell adjustments. He absolutely NAILED IT on the first shot. Ive skied my new boots for 3 days now, and unlike other boots that Ive had to have tweaked and adjusted multiple times before they are dialed, these are spot on. Just the best! No cold toes (Ive not even used the foot warmers yet) but the performance is phenomenal! My first experience with Sport Loft was a few years ago. I took in my old boots that I bought from another shop and explained the problem I was having with them to Earl. He looked at them, assessed me, and adjusted the boots to get me the proper ramp angle and heel retention. He spent at least 30 minutes with me and got it just right. The icing on the cake was NO CHARGE. Yep, they had me as a customer for life at that point.I bought a pair of skis at Sport Loft the beginning of the season. When I picked them up Earl would not let me carry them out to my truck. He insisted that one of the shop guys help me out to my truck with them. Now, Im certainly capable of hauling skis around (Ive been doing it for years), but that gesture shows the attention to detail that they pay to customer service. You simply wont find it anywhere else.Sport Loft is definitely a specialty shop. Ive noticed that they have an established clientele that keeps coming back. I assure you, theres a good reason for that customer loyalty!

I got my first ski setup this year so that I could ski tour and ski in the backcountry. I originally took my Salomon boots to Sports Den to get them fitted and after 3 trips back to the shop I still had terribly fitting boots. It wasnt until I went to Sports LOFT that I realized Sports Den was treating me very generically and that they werent the best option out there for boot fitting. I would consider myself to be a special case due to my oddly shaped feet, and as a result of this it was very difficult to get my boot fits right. Sports Loft, primarily Jeremy, really took the time to understand my issue, listen to me and offer actual solutions to get my boots fitted right. I ended up getting custom orthotics and some custom work done to the shell and liner and the boots FINALLY fit right. After initially dealing with so many boot fitting issues I honestly wasnt confident that I was going to get these boots to work for me. Since my last visit to the sports loft, Ive been out touring several times (as long as 6 hours on one day) and have had zero* issues with my boot fit. I would highly recommend sports loft to anyone looking for a precise and accurate boot fit as well as top notch customer service.Regarding Zaks 1 star review of Seems like they are more ready to leave than help you out ... I highly disagree with this. I have seen the crew at sports loft stay afterhours to accommodate several customers, including myself. Professional and knowledgeable - much better than competitors where I wasted A LOT of time and money. After two seasons of unusable boots from Inkline and an equivalent amount of money, I was recommended to try Sport Loft.Ive found them attentive and prompt, couldnt be 180 degrees more different than earlier experience at competitor. Sport Loft actually measures height and width in addition to the length only that Inkline does (in my case that makes a full size to 1.5 size difference. No wonder I was in constant pain). And they answer their phone which after two seasons of chasing their unpredictable competitor is refreshing.Maybe there is a reason Sport Loft has been around for so long. Highly recommended and definitely best of class. I have fairly complicated feet (including multiple surgeries) and have been fit at many shops over the years. They take boot fitting to a new level (including shell modifications) and they have a customer for life. There are less expensive stores out there but if you take skiing seriously this is the best possible way to spend your money (much more important than the skis). I bought both resort (alpine) and touring boots and the jump in both performance (most important) and comfort was well beyond my expectations. Ive skied 50-100 days per year for many years and only wish I had found them sooner! After seeing the negative comment about price I just wanted to add that boot fitting is definitely a you usually get what you pay for type service. I scour the web for deals on my skis and technical clothing but Im very happy to have paid for a professional boot fit.EDIT: Ive gone back for several more pairs of boots (different weights and performance tradeoffs, not because anything was wrong) as well as encouraged family members and friends to get their boots there.

At the time I thought it was silly it was so expensive, but now after buying a pair of touring boots on my own and having them be the bane of my existence (while touring- OUCH) and feeling the bliss and control of my alpine boots year after year, I understand the cost. The Sport Loft has long held a terrific reputation for selling high-end, quality ski gear, and was, supposedly, the very best at fitting boots. However, my last encounter with the store was very different. I found them to be very difficult. I bought the boots they recommended, and asked for injected linings. They insisted that the factory foam linings would be better. They charged a lot more for complicated fittings, and, despite many trips back to the store, found that they were short in temperment, and could never get it right. Finally, i took it to an injecting specialty store, which questioned the work done by the Sport Loft, injected the boots, and got it right the first time. When i called the store to tell them that i had a bad experience, they wanted to know what they could do to make it right, but when they found that i didnt want anything, terminated the call, post haste and acted like they were happy to be done with me.

Next morning I went through a 3- hour science experiment, PHOTOS BELOW - and thats just some of them. 4 weeks later Im skiing better than every before...EVER before. Jeremy helped get the right boot for her and we are now both very excited to have the proper boot fit and see how that helps out skiing. As mentioned the Sports Loft is not the cheapest place to get your equipment, however if you want it done right there is no where better. Let me preface this with a bit about me. I am a certified instructor with nearly ten seasons experience teaching in Utah and abroad. I’m very skeptical about The Sport Loft. Most clients I’ve worked with who have bought boots here end up in K2 Spyres or Spynes, a boot that usually runs about 300-600 dollars. However the usual price tag associated with theirs is 1300 dollars plus. Now, granted they have usually done a custom liner or some sort of boot work to them but this is where I get really skeptical. Somehow every client has told me that they have this one issue that somehow can only be solved by a very expensive custom fit by these guys. After noticing this a colleague and I went in for a fitting, and sure enough I was told we have similar issues and require boot work only they can do (I’ve a very small narrow foot and my colleague has a wide foot with a high arch). We were both put in K2 Spyre/Spynes and they wanted over 1500 bucks a piece. I find this to be a worrying trend. I personally use a boot fitter in Park City who has kept my feet happy for years now. They are efficient and provide great service, although I do have to drink my water out of a paper cup not a small bottle; I just don’t feel like paying 800 bucks for a bottle of water :) That’s my experience and I feel as though it’s worth putting out there so people can be as informed as possible. If your looking to be smoozed, these guys can smooze. If your looking for a good fitting ski boot with a professional boot fitter without the massive up-charge I suggest shopping around and being aware of your options, it never hurts to talk to a few shops to see what’s available and be a more educated buyer. If these guys offer what you want and you don’t feel like the price tag is above what your willing to pay for it, then great! Go for it. But, be aware of your options and aware of your own feet, sometimes it’s better to shop around and find consensus on what you need, and somewhere like SLC/Park City there are many many qualified boot fitters to talk too.

2015/16 was my first year for skiing and by early spring it was clear that new skis were required if I wanted to ski in spring conditions. After some online research I had a short list of prospects and discovered The Sport Loft when looking for a local shop. A few days later I went to The Sport Loft expecting a short conversation, sales pitch and possible purchase. Upon meeting Jeremy, however, I tossed my expectations aside as his enthusiasm and passion for the sport are palpable. We discussed my current abilities at length and then Jeremy asked, What sort of skiing do you want to do going forward? Another conversation ensued after which he recommended a pair of ON3P Kartels. Being late in the season a demo pair was unavailable and I was apprehensive about purchasing the skis. But our conversation was so thorough and my impression of Jeremy so positive that I bought them that afternoon and was on the slopes the following day. They were absolutely perfect and enabled me to ski until Snowbird closed for the season.Driving home after my first day on the Kartels I pondered on how Jeremy had nailed my needs based only on a conversation... if he was able to do that, then surely he could fix my ski boot issues. A few days later I had Jeremy do a full boot fitting which was, without doubt, the single best thing I did for my skiing all year and absolutely the best money I spent all season. My first outing after the fitting was the first day I didnt think about my feet. Two weeks later I commented to my wife that I wished I could just wear my ski boots all the time as they fit that well.As summer arrived I was still thinking about how good my feet felt in the boots. I called Jeremy and asked if he could do his boot magic on my shoes. Turns out he can. And did. It took a couple weeks to get used to the orthotics, but once I did I spent a pain-free week walking around Bryce and Zion while on vacation. In a nutshell... My feet have never been happier as I can now go an entire day without foot pain of any level. And I cannot thank Jeremy enough for all that he has done for me.But the amazing that is The Sport Loft does not start and end with Jeremy. I have been back several times and have met everyone. Earl is a true gentleman in addition to being a boot fitting wizard and encyclopedia of ski knowledge. Lindsey and Mike helped my wife gear up for her first season and took the time to explain the how and why of a good fit for gear. And do not let Derek fool you... he may be quiet, but he is a wealth of knowledge. This year I wanted to upgrade my Atomics, but was concerned that the Kastles I was considering would be too much ski for me. Derek not only addressed my concerns, he provided a detailed comparison of how they would improve the shortcomings I had with the Atomics. Didnt demo those, either. Love them. You will never go wrong having a conversation with any of the folks at the shop. They test a wide range of gear and not just the products they carry. And you will not be pressured to make a purchase. For example, my wife tried Anon goggles at the shop, but told Lindsey that she preferred my Oakleys (which they do not carry)... Lindseys response was to go with the Oakleys as a good fit was the most important thing. Sure, they lost a sale, but actions like this ensure that The Sport Loft will always be our first stop.I cannot say enough good things about the folks at The Sport Loft as they are great ambassadors for the sport and, above all, want folks to have fun skiing. The day I bought the Kartels, Jeremys last comment was Thank you for putting your faith in us. No, Jeremy, thank you and the entire Sport Loft family for having the expertise, customer service and integrity to merit faith in you.

I have flat feet that clash painfully with most ski boots. Jeremy and Earl helped me customize liners/footbeds optimized for backcountry skiing. The service was fast and knowledgable but unfortunately, even after all the customization, I was in excrutiating pain after my first tour. Took them out again after some prompt tweaking by the Sport Loft and there was no improvement. Jeremy then did some more intensive boot work (free of charge) and within 24 hours I was back out and pain free. Excellent customer service. Would definitely go back.

I do not usually write reviews about businesses, but I owe my ability to be physically active and a happy runner to this business, so there is great reason for me to rave. I came to the Sport Loft with plantar fasciitis and very low spirits. As much as I loved running, I couldnt run for more than a half mile without incredible pain in my feet and ankles. I also struggled with standing on my feet for long periods of time and participating in other fitness activities. I had worked with physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine doctors, and experienced runners. I had tried just about every running shoe out there, a number of inserts and taping approaches, topical treatments, stretches, massage, and so forth. Nothing offered a solution, and I was told that the shape and structure of my feet made getting into distance running unlikely. The Sport Loft changed all of this. Jeremy used highly scientific analysis of my feet, stride, and biomechanics to assess what I would need from an orthotic insert and a running shoe. He was very detail-oriented and careful in figuring out what was going on with my feet, and he was spot-on. With his help, I had custom orthotics and new shoes that removed the barriers to my distance running. Immediately, I was able to run further without discomfort. I have returned to the Sport Loft for the last three years for my shoes and orthotics and each time, I have received unparalleled customer service. Jeremy has been responsive and helpful for questions Ive had in preparation for distance races Ive done and always offers really detailed, knowledgeable tips. I would recommend this business to anyone and although I have moved out of state, I continue to consult the Sport Loft for my running needs and give them my business. Its the best there is.
