Buyer beware! This camera store is nothing but a front for a bunch of thieves. They sold me a used camera a canon 5D, when I open the box that the camera came in the light sensor cover was laying on the mirrors. When I try to return the camera they refuse to take it back. I was finally able to take the camera back to the store and because they wouldnt give me my money back I filed a dispute with my credit card company. The credit card company sent me a letter that said that Hawaii camera has no record of receiving the camera. So now Im out the camera and the $634 I paid Hawaii camera for for the camera. I would never do business with a dishonest business such as Hawaii camera. These guys are crooks..

Ive never rented photo equipment before so I was skeptical of the process. It was so easy. Paid the 1 day fee to rent a super expensive lens, signed some forms, showed ID, and went out to shoot. Returned it the next day. It was really that easy. Staff was friendly. The lens was in excellent shape as well. No scratches on the glass and it was clean. The only complaint would be the parking. You can park upstairs, but the entrance is hard to locate if its your first time. The ramp is steep and vehicles go up or down the same ramp, but only one vehicle at a time. Cars are parked along the street so its hard to see the bike riders when pulling out.

The guys at the HiCamera are knowledgeable and will help you out of you need it. Renting was as easy as 1, 2, 3. No hidden charges. Everything is stated as is. This is now my stop shop for gear when needed for a video or photo shoot. Again, you guys rock!

What can I say, they had the lens I wanted, friendly people, good price. My only issue is the lack of signage. It is challenging to find for newbies like me as they have no storefront. However, they have parking on the upper level, which is where they are located.

Stay away from the water housing.water leaking because of improper installation of the lens port to the water housing by the business. very poor instruction of the use and without any warning of possibility of water leaking . The back door was sealed exactly as i been told. 40min in the water and all the water was inside the lens port, some great photos were ruined. If i were in town I would returned the equipment immediately and asked for replacement. I needed one more shot that day, got in the water again and less then a minute my lens port is full of water. Camera did not responded, had to cancel everything I invested time and money in. Now have to pay extra $240 for the repair. Awful experience

The staff here are very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing the right equipment you need.. they also have a website you can check out prior to you heading over.. Easy pick up and drop off as well.

Awesome place for lens, camera, and gear rentals. I have never had any problems with any returns or any bogus charges to my CC. They offer some specials like renting for the whole weekend for the price of one day, but you must sign up with your email to get notified.

I was recently on Oahu to attend a wedding. At the 12th hour, I found out the wedding venue would not have AV equipment. I immediately went to google and found Hawaii Camera. I recently went to Maui. I wanted to get a nice camera for an engagement my sister was going to have there. But I don’t know how to use them or want to borrow anyone’s. To get a camera person to shoot photos was over $200 for 30 mins. So I thought I would try these guys out. Now I used the shipping method since I was not going to be on Oahu. I ordered Monday to Friday for $120 package. The box arrived at my hotel before we got there, and was left in security.I googled a few camera tricks so I could work the camera. They actually sent me a smallUpgrade because the one ordered was unavailable. The camera worked beautifully. Pics turned out great. I was able to keep the camera card & retuned the camera on the same box it came in (I was careful when I opened it), I wasn’t sure where I could get another fed ex box. The front desk helped me tape the box back up, and set up a pick up. The camera company provided a return label. It was super easy. Kept me informed all the way and updated fed ex tracking. If you are a novice or and expert but don’t want to lug a camera across then US I definitely recommend this place!

Josh and the rest of the team run a fantastic operation here! My wife and I visited Hawaii for 10 days (too short...) and wanted to see what our new D600 body could produce with some quality FX lenses. Our experience with Hawaii Photo Rental was fantastic, and we recommend it to anyone who either does not have fantastic lenses, or does not want to bother flying all that value and weight in from the mainland (or elsewhere).We spent the last 5 days of the trip on Kauai (which is GORGEOUS), and the shop set us up with a box and a shipping label--we were able to take the lenses with us, and just drop them off at the FedEX on Kauai, who overnighted them back to Oahu. Josh even threw in a polarizing filter at no additional cost when we extended our rental to include our Kauai trip.Well definitely be using them again!

Wide selection of products. This time it was urgent so I went without a reservation. Unfortunately I couldnt rent because there was no space for rental. However, there seemed to be various equipment, so I decided to make a reservation and use it if I had the opportunity.The shop is on the second floor and has a parking lot, making it easy to access.It was the staffs response, but I didnt feel very friendly. Maybe because I wasnt a native English speaker.It seemed to be troublesome, and it was an image that was appropriately handled. It was a little disappointing.
