As owners of a used boat which had a gas fumesmell while out on the water, we set out to find an honest marine mechanic to diagnose the issue, to look over all mechanical, and give us a complete diagnosis of the boat.As Kevin was highly rated we decided to seek his help. He went above and beyond our expectations. He thoroughly went through every inch of the boat and provided a fair outline of items that could be repaired. More importantly took the time to explained each line item and it’s importance and priority. At this point he could have easily taken advantage of our lack of knowledge, instead he educated.While running through the normal process of the 100 hour service, he came across an unexpected problem. He immediately called, and asked that we come in person to inspect the issue. He again took the time to educate and give us budget friendly options to address the issue.Kevin was honest, informative and stuck to the time frame he promised. Lastly, when picking up the repaired boat he took us on a sea trial and went over every aspect of the boat and answered every question we had, while giving us general tips and maintenance advice along the way. We noticed his perfectionist side too, after loading the boat back on the trailer he insisted we return to the shop, and out of courtesy he made a couple adjustments to the trailer to better fit the boat.Five stars. We will be retuning for all our future needs.

While on vacation with my family our twin engine center console started acting up and both engines went into guardian mode. I called some local shops but getting squeezed in last minute can be difficult. I called Kevin and explained my situation. In less than 1 hour he was working on my boat to get my family back on the water. Right away talking and watching this man work you can tell he is legit. He addressed a couple issues and insisted we put the boat on the water to see how the motors were acting under throttle. By the next morning he found the part we needed. We still had some other remaining issues that needed to addressed at a later time, but my family was back on the water to enjoy the rest of our vacation.The past 2 shops I took my boat to never once considered test running my boat to make sure the problem was resolved. Honest, stays on job until completed, follow up calls are taken and answered with professionalism.Kevin came to my rescue and answered my call at 7:05am, and was on my boat by 10:15am assessing the engine trouble. Previous boat electrician cut engine wires and did a lousy job (unprofessional hack job)I called Kevin and within 2 hours after showing up, had both engines running!3 days later I was fishing with family down from out of town, when port engine blew a hose 12 miles offshore. Got into Port, called Kevin on a Saturday morning at 9 am, HE ANSWERED THE CALL ON A SATURDAY! Kevin came to the boat that Saturday morning, checked out water pump, raw water pump, then sent me to parts store for new pump belt. He saved my family’s boat ride that Saturday, I was able to take them all down the intracoastal.I told Kevin of my lousy luck of finding a reputable mechanic, electrical or engine...until now. Thank you again for your honesty, and staying on the job until complete (not having multi jobs going while blowing smoke up the customer’s exhaust). Kevin’s Customs Marine did a fabulous job on my 20 foot Bossman flats boat! After nearly sinking I needed fiberglass work to repair the hole and delamination in the bottom and a lot of electrical work to replace everything that was flooded in the bilge. Kevin came to my lift, put a temporary patch on the boat and, escorted by Sea Tow, took the boat to his shop. He worked with the insurance adjuster to put together the estimates and negotiated with them to his satisfaction which freed me from having to deal with all this. He made the boat better and stronger than it was originally and did it in record time. Really nice fiberglass work! I was without the boat less than a month and Kevin beat the time he told me it would take. I have had it out every night for over a week and I could not be happier. Kevin was my one stop shop to get everything done. I would highly recommend Kevin’s Customs Marine for any sort of boat repair work. I had Kevin replace the transom on my 1999 Mako 282 with dual Mercury 200 Verados, perform some engine work, and replace the hitch on my trailer. Was super impressed with the knowledge and professionalism from Kevin and his glass guy (Forrest). They sent me periodic updates on their progress and explained every step. Kevin took a boat in for me and went through the whole motor, top to bottom. Had the 5.0L inboard/outboard motor out, running on a stand and then back in the boat in no time! Kevin is very knowledgeable and demonstrated outstanding attention to detail of all aspects of the boat, he was able to repair the motor and went even further to address other issues I was worried about. He was committed to insuring that I was on the water as soon as possible and wanted to make sure it was entirely right in regard to safety. Worked with my tight schedule and went out with me on a test ride and went over and above to insure things were right....even when the weather wasnt the most opportune. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I hired kevin in 2017 to fix my boyfriends scooter the first time he was out he found the problem and replaced the part, and it ran fine or so i thought. One week later my boyfriends scooter stoped running. Then i had to pay him to come out a second time. My bf told him we thought it might be a starter as i know scooters often have a issue with them and the last shop i took it to prior to kevin had already lied to me and robbed me out of 167$ and it died the next day after the repair. My bf told kevin he didnt want him to waste the time to try to fix the original starter he had. Kevin did so against my bfs knowledge and also attempted to charge me for said labor as I was the one paying for everything as a gift after my bf said dont bother the part was only 14$ and id rather have a new one. My boyfriend also informed kevin that he needed a new exahust as he was losing power and his exhaust had multiple holes due to rust. Kevin told my bf he could not find the parts. I simply typed into google and found the required parts in less than 10 minutes of searching. Later my bf found out the stater for the scooter he bought was used and claimed a new one was unobtainable for my boyfriends model. Again within 10 minutes my bf found it was obtainable brand new for half the price he charged me. At this point my boyfriend realized something suspicious was going on kevin was fine to take the money but didnt do any research or provide new parts. About one month later my bf ordered every single part that fit to the letter. Hes not even a mechanic. We later ordered the part to remove the magnito flywheel that kevin worked on, because my boyfriend became suspicious of the quality of his work. My bf ordered the part and removed the flywheel and discovered a screw was inside the stater/ magnito flywheel Which destroyed the new part i was overcharged for. I asked for a refund ive paid him so far around 350$, cash. He has provided no recipts to me. Me and my boyfriend sent him pictures of what we discovered. He agreed to refund our money yet he would keep saying he would come by, yet has not done so.(i have proof of it through text messages) The result is that ive had to file a civil suit against kevin for his apparently unacceptable performance and to keep his word and handle this dispute professionally. Additionally would tell me 35$ a hour for labor on the phone and then try to charge me 50$ in person. (Have an actual recording of my bf taking off the parts with the tools he ordered as well as the recipts of the special tool he had to used).
