Earlier this year I was shopping for an engagement ring and Petra Gems had the best price for a custom ring that I saw. Their reviews were good so I went with them. To cut to the chase, the ring was not designed properly. The ring was delivered so a local jeweler could install the center stone. The local jeweler upon first inspecting the workmanship was immediately concerned and warned me that the prongs were too thin. The center stone would not stay set so we had to bring it back to the local jeweler several times to re-set the center stone. A microscope revealed there were multiple cracks and pieces missing from the sections which hold the accent stones in the head. One of the accent stones fell out and several didnt have metal surrounding them on the sides. On the stone that fell out, the metal behind it looked blown out. The local jeweler said the method for setting the accent stones looked like one used overseas. I took the ring to two other jewelers to get their opinion and each said the ring was not structurally sound. Eventually one of the prongs broke off of the ring. Where I became thoroughly dissatisfied was with the customer service from Petra Gems, whose first response was defensive and accusatory. I tried to reason further but the second response from Petra Gems informed me in the same defensive manner that their warranty was void the moment another jeweler touches their work! This was not on their website and this was not communicated when Petra Gems and I arranged to have another jeweler set the stone! It wasnt until a week into the ordeal that Petra Gems offered to fix the ring at cost to me. Keep in mind my traumatized fiancée was not interested in any products from Petra Gems at that point. My warning to the buyer is use a credit card so that you can get a refund in the event that Petra Gems decides to void your warranty and not own up to their mistakes. Ive attached some microscope images showing some of the cracks and chunks missing from the prongs.

Petra Gems is so easy to work with. I originally found them on Etsy and was in love with a semi-mount, white gold and diamond accent ring on that site. Then I realized, this was my wedding ring and I was going to buy it more than halfway across the country! I read a bulk of the reviews, saw their ratings on other sites, including people who were also making the same important decision.The ring was a reasonable price and through chatting, we made some adjustments. I decided to buy my center stone at my local jewelry district and felt completely secure mailing it to them. They set my stone and I received my ring overnight 10 days later. I ordered a setting from Petra Gems for a diamond that I already had. I received the ring on time and communication regarding my purchase was quick and extremely efficient. When I opened the box, the only thing I could say was WOW!! It is so beautiful!!! I took it to a local jeweler for setting my stone and for a full appraisal. I purchased the setting for a total of $819.00 which included shipping. The setting itself appraised for $3,000.00 to replace. It is so shiny and sparkly and absolutely what I wanted in every way. I am so very pleased with this purchase!!!I wish I could post a picture, because again, WOW!!

Was working with Sharif on an engagement ring setting and when we were close to finalizing the order, the price went from $699 to $899. Not really bait and switch but a lousy way to do business. We had a very tight budget and would not have wasted our time if we knew it was going to be that much.

I searched for two years for the perfect diamond anniversary band for my hard-to-fit set. Petra Gems was quick to respond, and the ring they created exceeds my expectations with a most reasonable price. They communicated promptly, had patience, excellent customer service, and it did not take long to receive my product. I love it, and I would use them again.

Sharif worked with me to find exactly the right diamond for an engagement ring. I also had a custom design that I put together in the form of a 3D model and they were able to make it exactly as I had imagined. We ended up with a ring that was appraised at a higher value than what I had paid. They do amazing work.The communication was a little lacking and the time it took to get the ring was not quite as quick as I was hoping. It seemed to me as if they were extremely busy and didnt have as much time to allocate toward updating their customers on progress or addressing concerns. However, you will get a high quality ring for a price that is much less than anywhere else I could find.I would highly recommend them if you can come to terms with purchasing a ring online and the resulting challenges.

I was so lucky to of found this jeweler. When I was looking online (for a better than retail price on an engagement ring I found came across his website. I ultimately found the perfect ring . It was exactly what I wanted but it did not come with a GIA report which I really wanted that so he sent it away and got the GIA report for me.When we were ready for my wedding band, I sent him my engagement ring and asked him if he would help me find the perfect match for it (I had an unusual setting so it was not easy). Within just days he found two options . He took two pictures of my engagement ring with each of the wedding bands he picked. I chose the one I wanted, and it arrived within a week. I was so excited because it was perfect!! I trust Sharif so much, and appreciate his knowledge and honesty. He is the only person I will buy my good jewelry from.

I just want to say that I know buying a diamond online is a scary venture. The phrase “Too good to be true” is probably running through your mind when you see the prices that Sharif is offering on amazing quality diamonds. TRUST ME when I tell you I was that guy!! I saw a crazy good deal online, and I was super skeptical. Sharif answered every question I had almost instantly, sometimes not even during normal business hours. He made sure I felt comfortable, and then I pulled the trigger on the purchase. Still... how comfortable could one feel dropping thousands of dollars on a diamond from a stranger? I was still a bit uneasy, and went to a local jeweler to make sure the diamond I received was indeed the diamond I paid for. It absolutely was!!!!! Sharif is a miracle worker with his prices, so much so that I am having him design the setting as well! I will NEVER buy jewelry from anyone else EVER again. Sharif, you have a lifetime client here my friend! Sharif was fantastic to work with. I was skeptical about purchasing a diamond off the internet but Sharif was helpful and attentive. He worked really hard to find just the right diamond with my preferences. We took the diamond to a jeweler to verify that what we purchased was actually what we received and we are thrilled for having found Petra Gems.

My experience from Petra Gems was perfect, very fast service, overnight shipping as promised, but what makes them stand out above the rest is the honesty. I purchased a 1ct. halo engagement set, the center stone is incredible, crystal clear flawlessness arrived with the AGS certificate as promised. I was skeptical as first making such a high priced purchase online without seeing the ring first, I was not let down at all. Like everyone else, I was afraid of buying diamonds through the internet but after my first experience, I can happily say that I was very impressed with the help and advice provided by Sharif at Petragems. The high scores and reviews at various sites helped put my concerns at ease and everything proceeded smoothly. My custom diamond ring is so beautiful and the best thing is that it cost me much less than at the store. Also, I was able to determine each of the 4 C that I was keen on; I knew what I wanted and there were so many stones to select from as they were all listed on various web site BUT Petragems was offering the best prices for the exact same stone. I wanted to get a pendant and ring custom made to match so I decided to take a gamble on Petra Gems. Sending off a diamond and Australian opal off in the mail takes a lot of trust in a company. I was wary at first but Sharif was very open and communicated with me via email with all the answers to my questions. The price, of course, was far below what I would have paid to a local jeweler. The process took a few weeks but I and my girlfriend are very happy with the end product. I wish I could post a picture on this review to show how gorgeous the pendant turned out. The ring has yet to be shown since that will be popped out at a later date. I would highly recommend purchasing and getting any custom made jewelry done by Petra Gems.

The three things that describe my experience with Petra Gems are the incredible communication with Sharif, how fast I received my custom ring, and the quality and beauty of my purchase for an incredible price. For our first anniversary, my husband let me design my dream ring since we werent able to for my engagement ring. I spent a year researching emeralds and design ideas. I settled on an emerald that wasnt as large or as vivid green as I wanted. I contacted Sharif initially just for a setting estimate. I also contacted about a dozen other sellers on Ebay and Etsy. No one responded as quickly as Sharif did, he responded in a few minutes. Throughout the whole transaction, he never kept me waiting for a response, that was one of the most impressive things about him. He offered to look around for emeralds for me so I said sure. For a day and a half he sent over 10 emeralds he could get from a variety of dealers, in my price range and the carat weight range. He found an emerald that was the size as well as the vivid green I wanted and it was less expensive than the previous emerald I had settled on AND it came with a GIA certificate. The setting is exactly, 100% what I asked for. Throughout the entire process, he was sending me a variety of photos of the progress. He sent me photos of the emerald once he received it in the mail, sent me the CAD drawings of my ring with every detail laid out so I knew what I was getting, and once he had the setting made, he sent photos of the emerald in the setting but not yet set. From making the payment to receiving my ring in the mail, it took a little over 2 weeks. I was amazed. Until I received the ring and took it to my jeweler, I thought the whole thing had to be too good to be true. It was not, I will be a customer for life! I literally have never written a review online but I wanted to share my incredible experience with Petra Gems.
