We had such a great, positive experience with Gautier and Consort. We are an art museum and during installation had a last minute change of design/display plans. One of my contractual colleagues recommended the Abstraca tubular units. We were working on a very short timeline; and I contacted Gautier about the possibility of a rush order/expedited ship on a sizable order request. I love Abstracta. You can fill the space you have exactly as you wish.

I have purchased three of the Abstracta shelf systems, one in chrome and two in black. I designed each to fit the room they went to, and the Abstracta system permits quite a lot of customization so that the dimensions could match constraints well. The finish of the tubes, connectors, and accessories is very fine, and the tubes were wrapped for shipping to protect their finish well. Assembly is not without some effort, but be patient and mindful of what you are doing at each step and it works out well. Pro tip: find a very solid floor (concrete basement, say), lay down a thin layer of towels or blanket to protect finish yet not offer too much cushioning, and assemble by tapping with the mallet on the tubes and and connectors AGAINST the solid floor. If instead you try to work on resilient carpet or other cushioned surface the connectors will be much harder to tap into place completely. Gautier at Consort is very helpful and I recommend Abstracta in all regards. The end product, once in place, is incredibly strong, elegant, stylish, and understated.
