My bike, amongst 20 others, was stolen from this place. I recovered the bike after finding it on Facebook Market place. To get the bike back to original is now going to cost me over $1,500. This shop does NOT carry the correct insurance (baileys insurance) to cover your bike if something happens to it. Mark the owner only offered to sell me the parts at cost to fix the bike. In my opinion, the bike needs to be put back to the state it was when it got stolen, on their dime. 100% do not take or leave your bike there.

Please avoid The Bike Shop for your own peace of mind.I used this shop for motorcycle repair multiple times. Each time was worse than the last. Work took weeks longer than quoted with no explanation. The owner Mark was incredibly rude when Id call to check on work after not hearing back. Cant believe theyre still in business. This place inspired me to learn to work on my own bike, because I couldnt bear to go back. Please avoid them for your own peace of mind.

Im so happy I found this place!! We have taken 3 bikes here in the past 3 months. First our 230 Honda dirt bike and our 110 Honda. Both were in poor shape. These guys got them working better than when they were NEW! No JOKE! Then we took our Polaris 4 wheeler. If anyone knows, Polaris went out of business. I have taken this bike to a couple of people over the years and NO ONE has gotten it to work the way these guys did. My son was so excited to ride it and said, Mommy I think its faster! : ) Just want The Bike Shop to know, we took all 3 out this weekend and they road like CHAMPS! We had so much fun! Thank you. Your guys are awesome!!!

I went to Mark on a Friday afternoon, arriving from out of town with no signals or horn working. He started working on it immediately, found the problem almost right away and only took about an hour and a half to do the analysis and repair.I appreciated his working on it right away because I was only visiting Kansas City for a short while and needed my bike to be able to get around. Everyone there was so friendly, too.Mark knows his stuff, nice guy, and there are some good relics to look at - bikes, not people :) - while youre waiting.

Mark has always been great to work with, he is a good guy who knows his stuff. From some of the other posts, it seems some people expect miracles for free or something for nothing. Im pretty sure that Mark, nor anyone else, does those things. The technicians are good, the place is old school and for many of us, that is a breath of fresh air. Im sure that more people have has a great experience there, and at a fair price.

Wish I could give less than one star.-They Rarely answer the phone.-They Called me 2 times while they had the bike for 2 and a half months.-My bike was there for 2 and a half months and they did nothing to it that I wanted done. (which was to clean the carbs)-They made me go drive out to Kansas to get them a gasket that they supposedly ordered 3 weeks prior.-Gave me no exact answer on what was wrong with my bike.-Also, when I dropped the bike off it was running. When I just picked it up it will not start.Do NOT take your bike here if you ever want to actually ride it.They will nickel and dime you for everything they can. Do not make the same mistake I did.

This bike shop not only appears to be inept at simple mechanical work but is underhanded as well. After having my bike for 4 weeks and not receiving a call back about my bike, I called only to have them tell me that the fluids were good and the cover over the blinker light was broken.... I asked them if they had checked out what I had... brought it in for (which they should have had on the ticket) and they didnt even know. So I reexplained the issue. They said they would check it out. Again after no call back (yes they have my number its on the ticket) I call them after 3 weeks. Im told oh yeah the bike had some bad wiring I asked what wiring. I was told Oh I dont know Im not the one who worked on it (again should be on a ticket) but its good to goSo I show up pay 250 dollars (which they asked for in cash by the way) and head to work where the bike dies a good 12 times on the way there. After arriving at work I called the shop back and told the owner what happened. He told me to bring the bike back and they can fix that too... as in another bill for what they didnt fix the first time. I asked them if they would make it right and come get the bike they did not fix and please fix it. Not only did they refuse to do so, they refused to give any sort of refund for what they did not fix.To conclude Im out 250 dollars and 7 weeks of summer I could have been riding due to the bike shop. This is not the way a real business should work and is a disgrace to Kansas City. I intend to make any other motorcycle riders out there fully aware and warned about this place. Im also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Took in my 2006 Suzuki GS500F recently. I couldnt find a shop that would work on a Japanese bike, so that was plus right off the bat. I took it in for a head gasket, surging at 70+ mph and occasionally dying afterwards, and just a general run through. I was expecting a 2 week turnaround and a $700+ bill. They called me 4 days later telling me that it was done and I owed them just $440! My bike runs so much better now and I havent had any issues since. Definitely recommend this business and will be returning.

I took my R1 to this shop to have my flywheel removed so I can replace my stator. My flywheel was not coming off as easy as it was supposed to. The two pulleys that they used had broke. After attempting to get it off for 30 minutes while it was still in the back of my trailer we were unsuccessful. He did not charge me anything for something he could not complete. I then headed to Renos Powersports in South KC on Holmes Street. A Yamaha specific mechanic shop. They did not have any luck getting my flywheel off either. I had left the bike with Renos Powersports. After 3 days they called me up and said they could not complete the job and charged me their rates. After I was disgusted with Renos Powersports for charging me for something they could not complete. I went back to the bike shop where I had met Mark. After putting three hours in he finally got the flywheel off. When it comes to professionalism and a sense of security of knowing that your bike will be taken care of I would trust and recommend anyone to The Bike Shop. I do plan to return to this shop when I need Marks help to put my bike back together. GREAT JOB. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS SERVICE. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE CITY FOR WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE ON YOUR MOTORCYCLES. With out hesitation they will treat you right and take care of your bike properly.

Stay far away from these scam artists! Took my bike there for a diagnosis, the owner Mike didnt mention any charges before hand. Later, he said it will cost $250 to get the bike back out and there was nothing wrong with it. I doubt he even looked at it because I asked him to do some work if he was going to get in it. They have the worst customer service of all time. I was genuinely duped out of my money. These guys are horrible!!

I took my Stella Scooter (Vespa) here and it took them over a month to repair it. I had to order the part myself in order to speed up the process. I had to make 2 personal visits to get him just to work on it. After gathering data, I am led to believe that I was charged for 4 hours of work when it should have only taken 2 hours max to diagnose and repair. When confronted with these facts, he became irate with me. No apologies for taking so long.

I dont know about the edit guy thats edited his comments for what i saw looked like three yrs! which I dont think you should be able to do!But my review is Quite the opposite! mine is more like the last guy! i dont know any shops that would be that friendly, and willing to work with what i gave them a bike in a Box of parts and frame, although i think it helped that one of the guys is trained on my brand of bike! i went to visit the pile from time to time & they were very open and friendly about showing & telling me the progress! and the pile runs good now! but i did notice with all my visits that a business like that is or can be a hurry up and wait type of biz! It would make me insane! and noticed they have a couple semi famous people that wont go anywhere else. 1000 times better than being talked down to at the other shops i went to! thanks for everything Mark & Ken!

**WARNING** All the negative reviews on here are true. I experienced a little bit of everything.I dropped my scooter (in one piece) off at The Bike Shop to get it running. I received my scooter back still not running and in pieces! The painstaking process lasted a little over a month. I constantly called since Mark (the owner) would almost never keep me informed. I believe he called once to see if I wanted to go ahead with the purchase of a few parts. All other calls were made by me! Hell, it seemed like I was doing some of the work. One thing to be aware of is the price per hour they charge. I was not aware, but The Bike Shop charges $110 an hour! Go to a reputable car dealership and ask them how much they charge, youll be surprised at the similar prices. Also they will try to nickel and dime you. I wouldnt say Im super mechanically inclined, but I usually do my own work and I know the basic concepts behind motors. So by nickel and diming I mean that Mark tried to sell me a valve adjustment job on a two stroke scooter. Go Google how a two stoke works, then youll see that its not possible. Another nickel and diming event happened when supposedly they had my scooter running and was ready for pickup. I went to pick it up and it all of a sudden didnt run. He said my carburetor was completely gummed (clogged) and needed some ultrasonic cleaning (another $100). There was more, but there is no need to give anymore examples as you probably are starting to get my point. Finally, came the pickup day. I called (like always) and he tells me that he gives up on it. He says they are too busy and wont finish mine... What am I not a paying customer? Why do other customers get their bike worked on first? Either way, I have never heard that excuse before from a shop. When I arrived I was greeted by a calm Mark. He told me that all I owed him was JUST the cost of the original parts that were replaced and not all the B.S. he tried to sell me later on. Then my friend pointed out that he also charged me for labor ($80 worth of labor for not even solving the problem!) Mark exploded and rudely questioned my friend. I ultimately agreed to 160 some dollars so I could safely leave with my scooter, but here are the facts ladies and gents:Avoid The Bike Shop Because:*They cant fix a scooter, how are they going to fix anything more complex?*I went home and put the pieces back on my scooter and I was missing screws here and there*$110/hr labor rate!* Rude and horrible communication. All in all was a bad experience and I advise you take it elsewhere to save yourself some trouble and $$$.- DerekPS: Quit boosting your score... Two of the screenname/nicknames are dead giveaways. Mark and the bikes shop are obviously people associated with the shop not real customers giving real reviews. Mark and his crew may know multi-cylinder engines, but they sure as hell fail when it comes to single cylinder Asian bikes. Also since I feel like the bikes shops review was directed towards me for being stupid enough for buying a Chinese scooter Ill let the readers know that I did contact this place before hand to make sure they worked on them so no they were not forced by nature to take on my scooter. They just lacked the knowledge and experience to fix the problem.

Never owned a motorcycle of my own so when i bought it at first of summer i figured id have to leave it in the shop for weeks because of time of year, which i figured would be normal!.. so when i jokingly said i would like back for holiday weekend! we both laughed!! So imagine my surprise when the call came in 2hrs before weekend that it was fixed!! only 2 days later!!I however grew up around auto shops my whole life & am aware of the problems that can pop up & the fun customers that want it back right now or everything for nothing!Which can turn mechanics pretty non social after awhile! But not these guys! for a guy that owns that kind of shop to take the time to go over a few things about the bike with me that i could do to save money! I was more than alittle shocked!,( takes money out of his pocket) that & and the personable attitude With the Owner (Mark) which i havent met to many guys in garages that even wanna take the time to be on any first name basiss @ all!!! & The Other mechanic in the back is just flat out one of the nices most knowledgeable guys ive ever met!! ive sent 3 people there since & they said same thing ! didnt really get the bad scooter review making any since at all!! i did see them take one from a pile of parts & drive it out in one day!! the only sad thing on motorcycles is you cant get parts in town mostly so it takes a bit longer than cars cause they have to order them!! Ive taken my bike back twice, to add extras & everytime they have shown me things that could use some attention or went ahead & fixed a little thing, Without charge! one thing i had to pay for was a no brainer, no prob! Long Review! but never done one before & the first time i ever thought any business took care of me good enough to take the time!! These Guys are worth the drive!!!!

My chinese scooter broke down when I was leaving work and the bike shop was the closest place go. Lucky this place is within walking distance of my job. Mark did an excellent job. I had to wait a few days for the part I needed that Mark ordered since there are no parts available in Kansas City for my type of model scooter. All my parts are in California which sucks but I got patience. As soon as the part came in it was fixed and ready to go the next day. (It was late in the afternoon when the part got there close to closing time.) Got the matainence done also at the same time. $326 and it didnt cost my husband an arm & leg since I got him to pay for it. This place has a new customer now since Ive been searching for someone who can work on chinese scooters. Not to many places in Kansas City that can repair chinese scooters especiallly my 2012 model which is rare in this city. Great job and excellent service. Dont believe all the negative comments about this place.
