Grape and Grain is the only locally-owned liquor store in Kerrville, at this point, and a great little shop. Owners and employees are always friendly and helpful in making recommendations. Decided to drop by on my way home from a motorcycle ride.Came in, (To preface this story I’m a middle aged clean cut guy) with a backpack because of course there is nowhere to store anything on my motorcycle. My backpack also had my wallet and personal belonging so I sure didn’t want to leave it outside.The older heavyset (possibly owner) guy who was running the counter was extremely gruff and rude to me. “Leave the backpack on the counter” he said in a rude and mumbling voice. “Okay man”,I said begrudgingly. Guy barely made eye contact and of course didn’t crack a smile. Truly made me feel like he was absolutely sure I was going to steal something from him EVEN THOUGH I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE STORE. As I was checking out he knew I was annoyed with his demeanor. But don’t worry, he didn’t care one bit. Continued to mumble. Didn’t give a thank you or anything for my patronage, and once again didn’t even bother to look me in the eye. I grabbed my six pack and got out of there. Probably my last visit. Shame because the beautiful lady and young red headed man who works in the afternoons are so wonderful.I get it. Walking into a liquor store with a backpack is probably not kosher. But a “Hey man, sorry to tell ya, but we have a no backpack policy. If you could just place it up here I’ll keep an eye on it for ya.” Would have been a much better option than the route he went.

Found Weller Antique 107 for $60. 2x the retail price. Asked the kid at the counter if they could deal because its a $25 bottle. He said its too rare and the price is what it is. Hence the dust collecting is the reason they havent sold it. Watch out for the rarity rip off on the secondary market. Even tried to make an offer for it.

What terrible business owner closes a liquor store by 630pm when there is a festival in town on July 4? This is the closest store to the premises. I don’t even own a business and it makes me sick to think how much business they lost today.

I usually only stop here if Im running out of time, which was the case on Saturday after I got off work. I arrived at 8:40pm thinking i had plenty of time since they close at 9pm. As we walked to the door the older gentleman, who never has a smile and never greets you, turned the lights off and locked the door in front of us and walked away leaving us standing there baffled. Mind you, this was Sat the 26th of May, Sunday is the next and Monday was Memorial Day. We had to rush across town to Specs in order get what we needed for the Holiday. Bad service, pricey, and inconsistent.
