I went in today determined to buy a car at my price point. I had spoken to Brian through offer up and he assured me that they would be able to help me. I rode my bike to the dealer ship and Brian himself said he couldn’t let me leave on the bike. I do feel like I am a bit picky I didn’t want leather I wanted the outside to look appealing. He showed me a couple cars, he let me test drive two cars and I was really stuck on this Ford(a bit out of my price range). Brian heard all my concerns and tried to work with me. Now I am an official owner of this Ford Edge and I couldn’t be happier. Honestly they were all nice and had positive vibes even joked about buying my bike, I would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking for a car.

I took a friend to look for a used car here. I was NOT looking forward to it. Even though I have been purchasing all the vehicles for our family and business for over 40 years, it is one of my least favorite things to do. I was pleasantly surprised. The employee who helped us was Brian Knights. He listened carefully to my friends budget and what she was looking for. They have many many cars to choose from. After driving quite a few cars, Brian suggested what he thought what might be the right choice for her and why. There was never at any time pressure to look at or purchase anything, and even after having spent a lot of time showing us vehicles, he continued to help her decision with again, no pressure. It was a a gratifying experience and a I recommend this place to anyone looking for a car.

I purchased two BMWs at great prices considering the post Covid price increases found everywhere else. The staff and owner where great and even delivered one of the cars to my home, because I cant drive two cars at once, obviously.

I’ve been here twice and man Brian is awesome. I didn’t get pressured into buying a car and he was honest! That’s the type of customer service that brings customers back. Definitely would recommend and they have nice cars!

We had initially put down $500 to hold a truck for us, and when we pulled into the lot we were told he wish he didnt take the deposit because someone offered $15,000 ( the price we settled on) and he could have had the money Saturday instead of Monday (today). Then he said he was going to get the truck for us from the other lot, came back empty handed and left again and tried to sneak away with jumper cables because the truck was dead. Then after further inspection of the truck there was multiple things wrong that was not listed or discussed beforehand. After we said we would pass on said truck he said that he already lost on it and that we lost as well; saying if we wanted power steering that worked we should go buy a new truck.

Great experience buying a truck from Brian. Laid back and let me make the decision without pushing me one way or another. Before making the 900 mile trip to look at the truck he sent me pictures and video upon request without hesitation. Would definitely do business with them again.

Kyle took the best care of us! He went above & beyond and made sure we got into the car we wanted at a price we could afford. Great selection of nice, dependable cars. The whole staff is friendly and accommodating. They really make you feel like family. When its time for another purchase we will DEFINITELY be back to South Texas American Auto. I was recently in the market for a vehicle and wanted to go with an auto dealer I could trust. Upon the reading the reviews and seeing South Texas American Autos overall rating on both google and Auto Trader I opted to stop by and see what they had available in their inventory.I initially met Nicole on their lot, and shortly thereafter had the pleasure of meeting Kyle as well. Both Nicole and Kyle were the epitome of professionalism, but also came across in a way that was friendly and reassuring. As much as I hate to generalize and paint with a broad brush - their approach was very much the opposite to that of a typical car salesman or dealership.As I am not very mechanically inclined myself I leaned on Kyle to help walk me through some of the items I wanted to have addressed. I had numerous questions throughout my shopping process, and throughout it all both Nicole and Kyle were incredibly patient, thorough and responsive.Perhaps most important of all - when my shopping experience was concluded, they continued their trend of responsiveness and professionalism. Purchased a 2003 Honda Accord May 16 and I still haven’t received my title or plates they mentioned it would take 4-6 months and I will be getting paper plates till then which isn’t right I will be going above and beyond for my title and plates I will be getting my lawyer involved. My car was considered totaled sold with no airbags and after driving 300 miles in a month my radiator has been smoking. I know if I don’t get my title and plates I will be suing the company do not get a car from these dealership.

Not a great experience. All vehicles were very dirty, food left inside, soiled upholstery-no attempt to clean. Engine Oil was dirty and no info given on vehicles besides engine is good. We were told to look for a new car if we are going to complain.

Be very careful with this auto sales place they sold me a lemon I paid 2200 cash on a car and within a month the motor blew and when the mechanic was checking it they had said that it was gonna blow anyway cause there was liquid were liquid should have been they had said that that car was way or needed several times and this company lie to me and they told me that the oil leak was just a gasket would judging the gasket and it didnt stop so they knew this car was messed up already and they still proceeded to sell it to me I am a single parent and I live out of town and I do work in San Antonio so near the dependable car and they took my last time knowing said that there were selling me a lemon. And the AC didnt work either. It worked at the moment but because they just put in freon to make it cold for the test drives

They tried to pay me to give them 4 or 5 star. Hell no. They sell lemons like all the negative reviewers tell you on here. Buyer beware they sell headaches and wallet breakers. I know bought a car on may 5 2020. It had the check engine light on. Brian tried to turn it off but couldnt. It took me almost 3,000 dollars to fix a 1,500 dollars car. Keep driving and dont shop at this car lot. You cant buy my vote on Google.

I was treated like I was not a serious buyer, and had a level of distrust in my ability to pay for the vehicle I put a deposit on. Even after showing that a wire transfer to thier bank was deducted from my account they demanded a $100 deposit to hold the car ...once the wire transfer went to thier account there was a noticeable change in attitude! Good selection of decent cars, I think it was chris(light skinned fellow), he was a good salesman and treated without biasness. Btw my transmission went out a week after I bought my car, the check engine light was on. I did get a good deal though about 1/2 the value...if they had treated me better probably 4 stars

Rude. Not worth the money. Showed and was told repeatedly that they closed at 6. Ok but i drove from Austin to view a vehicle that I possible wanted to buy. So customers should be treated better, especially if they are driving from far. Was mad that I didn’t buy their rattling vehicle with many malfunctions flashing as we test drove it. Cussed loudly and slapped a car as we left because we didn’t buy the trash can of a car.

Got a really good deal on a beater, I was looking for a really cheap car but was nervous about buying from a private party. I saw an ad on OfferUp, so I stopped by and took a look. Kennedy was the guy that helped me out and he was real friendly and honest about the car I was looking at. It was definitely a beater, I would definitely have to throw some money into it, but thats what I was expecting. He told me it needed a few things but did not rush to get me to buy it right away. He wanted to make sure I was making the right choice and was trying to negotiate a good deal. Now they are still Dealers and theyre trying to make the most out of their business. They talked me up a little bit more than the initial offer to cover some of the TTL but it still wouldve been better than buying privately. Overall really happy with the deal, they have a huge inventory for a range of different vehicles. They offered me discounts at a nearby mechanic since my car needed some work. And was just real friendly and made sure I was satisfied. Good bunch of guys doing honest work.

The customer service is amazing and I just want to say I did enjoy my experience there. However I did post my review too quickly because my car started messing up in June so 6 no after purchase. I did get a great price but I also wound up putting another 2,000 into the car maintenance by September and still had it completed breakdown and lost it something was wrong with the engine I had no idea it was a salvage title which is my bad for not checking but damn in my opinion just be cautious like any other used lot

Bought a car from here a month or so ago and drove it for about a week before I had to get it fixed and no matter how many issues are dealt with another one pops up, there are tons of issues with the car I was not made aware of and they told me there was no transmission issues. They lied. 0/10 was sold a straight up lemon, if youre looking to buy a used car Id look elsewhere or you risk getting ripped off.

As far as used car sales go this place is okay. I would return

April I was in a car accident. I came to American auto because I saw a 97 dodge. Unfortunately the care of the truck was In poor condition and it has now failed me not once but 5 times since buying it. I wish I knew the history of the truck before buying it but it wasn’t discussed with anyone at South American. They buy auction cars. Not saying all of them are bad but I’ve put into the truck what I paid for it already and it still needs more. And now I’m stuck with no vehicle. I just wish they told me the history

They are very nice. But I got ripped off really bad on the the key to the doors and the AC. The owner said he would get with a locksmith to help with the keys. To date 8mths later I cant lock my door. After having the car two weeks, I had to pay a locksmith to open the car. Once I had to get in through my sunroof because the door lock issue. 🙁Also, they put freon in knowing the AC would only run 1 day. I left there with my check engine light on which was my fault. But you can blame that on me being a woman and my disabled hubby was with me and knows nothing about cars 😊. Lesson learned....but again they were very nice.
