Fun place to jam out and appreciate musical instruments. They have sound barriers for various rooms and parts of the store where you can test and experiment. The staff are always friendly and able to assist with questions and whatnot. Great place! Come when theyre having a sale!
I an a beginning guitar player and I broke a string as well as discovered my new case didnt fit my guitar. It was busy and one of the employees named Justin went out of his way to help me. He went over all the aspects of my guitar, helped me pick out some strings and showed me how to restring it. He showed me all kinds of things I could use with the guitar but did not try and sell me anything I didnt need. I really felt like they cared and wanted to help. I dont find that much these days. Thank you.
Like any service or venue, what you get depends on how you use it & what you expect. The measure of good retail is service, and I want that service to be courteous, prompt, forward-moving, and of course competitive with the existing market. Kirkland GC has been all these things, regardless of which employee or department Ive dealt with. Returns, recommendations, internet purchases -- I figure theyll get tired of me eventually, but it hasnt happened yet. Definitely recommended for first-time purchasers & experienced musicians alike
Ive gotten a few guitars from here, but the customer service isnt very good. Obviously, guitars are expensive, so you want to choose wisely and waste as little money as possible, but Ive found that some employees will do pretty much anything for extra money. I was looking for a bass and a distortion pedal so I went there and found two basses I liked, the employee said I could bring the bass back the next day to exchange it if I wasnt satisfied and said theyd reserve the other bass for me just in case. I went back the next day and big surprise but that exact employee said they had sold all of that bass they had in stock. I went along cause the bass I got was still pretty decent and I asked about distortion pedals. I just wanted a single button one added and removed distortion, but the employee showed me a different one with two buttons for distortion and a pedal that works as a wawa pedal. I bought it because it was a decent price but when i got home and used it, all it had was reverb and some robot noise. I went back to return it, but they wouldnt let me because I had opened it. Overall, I didnt have a good experience.
These guys have put up with a lot from me; Ive returned plenty of used items to get something else. Which is fantastic for someone trying to figure out what may or may be what they need/want. Only when Im pretty sure do I buy new, and of course they have that too. Yeah, sometimes the service is slow -- no surprise when youve got to compete with the internet & still pay an overhead. And sometimes they dont have a repair guy. But my experience there has always been positive & helpful; only in a physical store can you try something out, hearing for yourself the difference between one item & another before buying. And only at GC can you buy a used item & bring it back in 30 days for store credit. Are they experts? Not necessarily, but they certainly know what they know, and try to help. A customer should always research anyway -- if only to understand why a certain item or answer may or may not be right for you. Thats always the kind of customer whos going to have the best shopping experience. I used to avoid GC, but Ive found them to be a consistently valuable resource, and this to be a good location.
Just walked out of the kirkland guitar center with nothing but a pair of sticks. I had wanted to purchase all new heads for my kit, and maybe a cymbal and bass pedal. After standing around listening to some kids play really loud for a half hour, I went to the front desk to ask someone if he could just look up inventory for me. He told me he woud page someone in drums to come find me. No one came. After standing around for another 15 minutes I just gave up, bought some sticks, and left.
For drum gear its ok in a pinch but Donn Bennett is sooooo much better.I found the staff at Guitar Center to be hit or miss. Some were very friendly, some helpful, some seemed irritated, some clueless about drum stuff. The drum area is usually not staffed at all so you have to go find someone to drag back there if you need help. Also the staff seemed to be all young guys which is fine except a couple of them gave me the what are YOU doing here vibe (Im a middle aged woman just learning drums)I still go here if I need to pick up something small like when I had to replace a couple of rusty tension rods on a used kit. But thats only because they are closer to me.For all things drumming Donn Bennett in Bellevue has been a godsend. They are so friendly and helpful and knowledgeable...I cant say enough good things about them.
I dont know why all the hate in the comments. Ive had pretty positive experiences with this Guitar Center all around. Ive interacted with maybe 6 or 7 different people there, and theyve all been perfectly fine. No, not all of them are super-knowledgeable about the gear they are selling, but some are. And if you just want them to leave you alone to noodle, they will. The selection youll find on the walls is pretty good in a number of categories. I know some stores nearby that have a better selection of just guitars, but GC has a good selection of stuff across the whole spectrum of music gear.Anyway, I got a nice deal on a floor-model 2x12 cabinet at this store, I also just yesterday emailed the manager Tygus (using the link on their website) about a nice $200-off coupon that came in the mail but expired the day before and I had missed it. I asked if I they could still make good on it, and before the day was out I got email back from BOTH Tygus and Brian, the assistant manager, telling me I could use the coupon. There are a lot of haters for some reason, but Ive always had pretty good experience with this GC.
Loading in we discovered we were missing a mic cable. It was 9:02 pm. I called GC in Kirkland in tears, where else can you get a mic cable on a Saturday night on the Eastside? The guy said we are closed, but if you get here in 5 mins I can make it work.I arrived exactly 8 mins later and gave him $40 for a $21 cable and said keep it. He smiled and refused the tip.Say what you want about CG, these guys have my gratitude and have bailed me out as well as many of my other working cat brothers countless times over the years. This is above and beyond customer service.THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
My favorite guitar shop so far - friendly people, great selection, fair prices.
Store hours on Google are wrong. This store keeps stupid hours different from the rest, not a convenience.
Not the biggest store, but the staff there is really nice. Ive bought at least six instruments from them and tons of gear.
Good selection.
