Oh my!!!! Very few people do donuts well, and boy their recipe preceded them. I am so impressed, each one worth the cost. Flavor is perfect, fun and of course brioche though never let you down!!! So delicious.

These are seriously amazing donuts!!! we drove from MA on our way to acadia to grab them, and i literally am planning my next trip up here just for these donuts. there is not one bad thing to be said about this place. the people working are SUPER friendly and awesome. the coffee is also awesome. my non vegan partner even loved them and hes hard to please with vegan foods. thank you for existing lovebirds donuts, i will be seeing you again soon

I’m gluten free and they are the best I’ve ever had. I must say they all look great and one day I’ll break and have to try the ‘regular’ donuts.UPDATE: I finally broke and had the regular donuts. The glazed brioche and monkey muffin (cinnamon roll) are to die for! If the eating gluten won’t kill ya, you should definitely try these. We also had the Dutch Apple Jam, we would have loved this more if there wasn’t so jam and it was not so tart. The hot chocolate is marvelous as always.

Love the donuts and varieties at this shop. I gave it only 3 stars because the coffee and service were not up to par. I have found Vegan Donuts at the Bangor Farmers Market that are even better so I dont think Ill be going out of my way to go to Love Birds anymore. Customer Service issues...I believe the reviews have gone to their heads! Unfortunate ...Customer service is IMPORTANT people!

Woke up early to get these weekend special chocolate croissants. Then the car battery died while I was there.So 2 hours, a failed jump attempt, and 1 $140 car battery replacement performed in the parking lot later, and I was able to get these babies back home so I could share them with my partner.So to answer the question on everyones mind, would I pay ~$150 and 2 hours of my life that Ill never get back for these croissants again? Yes, yes, I would.

First time trying Lovebirds. Got the raspberry coconut and ganache dipped. Absolutely loved these yummy donuts! As a celiac, it can be difficult finding good gluten free food, especially from scratch. I also appreciate that they are made in their own dedicated fryer; ease of mind!Looking forward to returning soon!

TOO SWEET. Two stars for being vegan and one for good service and venue. Ive gone here quite a few times and appreciate the vegan fare, but they seriously need to cut back on the sugar. The berry jam donuts are especially disappointing, because Im expecting a nice, tart jam inside an already sweet brioche, but the inside is sickening! Same with the berry glazes and other frosted options. I hope they get the message and change the recipes because I want vegan donuts!!! Ill give them another chance in a couple months or so.Edit: With all due respect, there are at least several reviews on here from recent months saying the donuts are too sweet, some of to which youve responded. I dont think its right to imply that Im trying to skew ratings--note I left three stars not one.I also did not leave more than one review, the other is by my friend who orders all the new flavors every month.I think they are too sweet and some people agree with me. Thats what a review is for.

Always amazing vegan donuts and drinks. We ordered the Boston cream and strawberry shortcake donuts. To drink, we ordered a raspberry matcha and a mocha latte. This is my favorite place for vegan donuts. I suggest ordering ahead if you dont want to wait in line as they are very popular. They also offer a good selection of gluten free donuts.

Omg these donuts were freaking amazing. Weve been saying for ages we need to get to lovebirds, but it just never happened. Today we finally made it before close (1pm). They were sold out of several flavors, but still had a lot to choose from. We tried: strawberry shortcake, cinnamon, brioche, french toast, strawberry rhubarb jam filled, and mango sticky rice. ALL WERE DAIRY FREE AND VEGAN!!! SO GOOD.

Creative and tasty donut shop. The monkey muffin is so sweet and delicious I almost couldnt finish it. And the Iced Irish Cream Coffee that I got alongside it was perfect. We also had a Pride Donut. Strawberry lemon frosting with both sweet and tang in harmony.

We already loved how their donuts are so delicious and unique, so we recently used their catering services. Their correspondence was professional and very supportive, and they arrived right on time to deliver them and set them up in the display stand! Fantastic donuts and customer service!

The BEST donut shop ever. Just incredible. Huge variety to choose from with a new menu of decadent specialty donuts released each month, including gluten-free options. Everything is 100% plant-based and 100% delicious. No disgusting animal ingredients needed! The beverages are good too, they brew Equal Exchange coffee. The staff is always really friendly and everyone seems like they genuinely enjoy working there. Prices are excellent, if this place was located in Boston youd be paying double what they charge - Im proud to support a small local business like Lovebirds, who really go above and beyond to produce high quality reasonably priced goods for the local community and visitors. Get there early on weekends, they do sell out of a lot of flavors quickly!

Amazing donuts. It was so cool to walk and and while in line see a donut lineup to pick the donuts you like. It also streamlined what was a huge line because I went on a Sunday. I had a nitro cold brew, black. It was good, not amazing. For the price, Id say so-so. But youre likely there for the donuts, which are worth the trip.

I have driven by here so many times intending to stop in one day. Well, today was the day and Im sorry I didnt stop in sooner. I got the Key Lime Pie and my husband got the Peach Twist. These gourmet craft doughnuts and the coffee are amazing. I love that they are vegan and are so yummy! A lot of times that is not the case. We will definitely be back.

Donut flavors are generally good and creative, but way too sweet. If they werent sickeningly sweet, they would easily be five stars. Not sure why Im being accused of leaving multiple reviews as that is simply false.

I have celiacs, so I have to have gluten free products. I had three gf donuts to pick from. I choose cinnamon and sugar cake donuts. They were great. For a place that opened as the areas answer to not being able to get GF donuts. With six different GF donut options . Just disappointed with the three GF options currently. The GF donuts are still fantastic.

AWESOME donuts!!!! Loved the double chocolate donut that was a chocolate cake donut covered completely in chocolate with chocolate frosting. These are not donuts for people on a diet. They are full of flavor, fun and deliciousness. There was even a Pride donut. Congdons gets all the traffic and attention, but Lovebirds deserves your love and business.

Stopped into Lovebirds right before they closed while visiting some shops in the area. Ordered two donuts and they gave us a half dozen. They were delicious and very flavorful. Excellent service, will be back again.

My family and I are on vacation from New York and we decided to stop here and try it out. Despite how busy it was, the staff were so calm and so so sweet! We got a dozen donuts and some drinks and everything was awesome. We’ll definitely be coming back at some point!!

If you are in search of a delicious yeast vegan donut, look no more this spot is the best spot for vegan yeast donuts, people would ask how they compare to Holy Donuts? That is not a fair question because it is completely different, Holy Donuts are made with potatoes and these are your traditional yeast donuts in a vegan fashion. I really mean they are the best, I thought we hit the jackpot when we had Voodoo Donuts in Denver. However, Voodoo cant even compete with these guys. Keep making these little works of art Loverbirds you guys are amazing.

These vegan donuts are better than any regular donut Ive had, I dont know how they do it. These people must be wizards, thats the only logical explanation. I did not try the gluten free ones, but I have no doubt they are excellent because they were sold out by the time I got there at 10 AM. I will be back and I will be bringing everyone I know here to try these fluffy delicious miracles.

We drove up to Maine for the day and got some assorted donuts to take home. We were so disappointed when we finally opened the box whose heavenly aroma had been filling the car for hours. They were the most amazing donuts I had ever tasted. The strawberry shortcake was dense, yet light and creamy. The monkey bread was like sampling little cinnamon roll morsales. My husband who asked me not to get him anything took a bite and asked when we were going back. We live 3 hours each way 😂😂 We are still going through withdrawals. So good, reasonably priced, and an eclectic assortment. It is now on our must stop list when heading north.

Best Boston Cream donut youll ever have!

I used to fry donuts in NC, so believe me when I say these guys have perfected their craft. Very soft, not too spongy, the glazed donut is not laid on too thick. I have to go back to try more varieties!

My husband (vegan) and I (not vegan) keep coming back because Lovebirds is not just good for being vegan, they are good period. We drive 45 minutes just to enjoy these donuts. You can tell that they are crafted with the best ingredients and the recipes created by people who know what they are doing. I have tried baking vegan treats and can come nowhere close!

Went right at 7am when they opened. The donuts were out of this world! I got a half dozen donuts to try a little of everything. For the glazed brioche alone it is absolutely worth the half hour ride I took. I am new to being dairy free and dairy free donuts are impossible for me to find. These are better than any donut I’ve had - vegan or otherwise. I promise you won’t regret making the trip

Didnt know they only served vegan donuts. Not tender. And very expensive. 3 donuts for $8 for two cake and a yeast. If you arent a vegan I dont see why you would buy donuts here. Icing is also much too sweet.

We got a dozen donuts we 10 different styles and we loved these! Some of them were kind of hard and not super flavorful, but the others more than made up for that. We particularly liked the strawberry short cake and apple fritter!

Good donuts but theyre almost always sold out. Unless youre planning to be there before 8am I wouldnt make the trip. Im 45 minutes away and show up to see a sold out sign out front. The owners have to increase their supply to meet the demand or at least have live inventory tickers posted on their website. This is the the third time I show up and theyre sold out.

Ive tried a lot of vegan donuts, and Lovebirds is by far the best ones Ive had! Unlike a lot of gourmet donut shops that only offer a couple (a few if were lucky) vegan options, Lovebirds is an entire menu of plant-based deliciousness. The brioche and cake donuts I got were so moist and soft. I also love that there are tiers of prices depending on the extravagance of the donut you choose. I would say that Im looking forward to the next time I can get up to Kittery, but I preordered placed another order and will be stopping by again very soon! Could not recommend Lovebirds enough.

The donuts and coffee drinks that we have tried have been amazing. The menus change slightly every month, and it is great to try the different varieties. Ordering ahead is best if you want to make sure that you get certain varieties.

We really wanted to love this place! Its super clean, very safe, Covid precautions, extremely easy to order ahead...but the donuts are just...terrible. Im so sorry to say this because you can tell the owners try really hard! We purchased 5 regular donuts and 4 gluten-free...the cake donuts are HEAVY and dry. The raised, brioche are lighter and fresh tasting but the fillings miss the mark. Unfortunately, I wouldnt recommend this place for donuts!

The donuts were pretty good, but I cant give Lovebirds Donuts 5 stars. I drove from Boston for one of their giant donuts only to find out they have to be ordered in advance. It was a pretty big disappointment. If it were mentioned on the menu that they had to be ordered in advance, I definitely would have done so.

Awesome selection of donuts. Their apple plum filled doesnt quite hit the spot of a raspberry filled, but its close. They have a great setup for ordering in person, but ordering ahead of time is where its at.

I love love Lovebirds Donuts. My sister introduced me to this gem two summers ago. For nearly 20 years now I can not have dairy products but my other half he can. It is such a treat to be able to enjoy a pastry of any sort when one can find something without dairy (It does not happen very often and go without). Most times we just pop in when in the area as they do close early but we still walk out with a half dozen of yumminess to take home and enjoy. He never complains and gobbles them up and states how delish they are and that he can’t tell they are dairy free. Thank you & Great job to all of you!

Do yourself a favor and GO HERE NOW. I will preface this with the fact that I am not a vegan, but am surrounded by enough of them that I have had my fair share of alternative recipes and desserts. Therefore, I went to purchase these donuts with an open mind and an excited stomach, especially because of the Instagram photos. I was not disappointed in the slightest. These donuts are absolutely amazing and will fulfill every sort of craving you have for the donuts you know and love. The first one I tried was the gingerbread cream and I was hooked. I could have eaten 100 more. I would love to know what they use to make such a smooth and delicious plant-based cream because it was truly magnificent. I cannot say enough good things about this place and encourage you to give it a try. From the cute storefront to the incredibly friendly service, this is the place to be. I hope they someday make their way up a little more north to Portland, but for now I will gladly drive an hour for these puffs of perfection.

Theyre so good I am skeptical that theyre vegan. There donuts are insanely good and some of the best I have ever had. The glazed brioche is MIND BLOWING .. you should definitely try it. Also the people there are very nice. Even if you eat meat and dairy like me, you should still try it ... it still be some of the best donuts youve ever had.

We got Boston cream donuts and macchiatos this morning, and I was very very happy. The chocolate was so rich and hinted at a little darker note, and I absolutely loved it. The filling was so ample, so prepare yourself and eat over the container they give you. The macchiato was the traditional low volume, high octane type of macchiato, and it was freshly piping hot. Definitely a sipper, but it certainly got the day started out right. (Side note: The decor was pretty adorable. The headphone-wearing shark paintings were my favorite. 🎶 🦈)

Paid $2.50 for a doughnut, but it was delicious. Very fresh, and excellent texture. The top was coated with chocolate ganache. I wish I could afford to buy a dozen for my family, but that would be like $30! Try one to see how great they are!

They have pretty amazing donuts so if you are in the area highly recommended! Just fyi they can ran out of the most common (like Boston creme) pretty early so if you are craving one of those, you might want to be early or call ahead (def worth it 😊)

I’ve purchased donuts and coffee from here, at least, once every other month. Funny story, when I first came across LoveBird and tried their donuts, I didn’t even know they were vegan till after I ate them. (I must of skipped reading about that part 😂)They are SO good! I love how there are specials every month so you can try a variety of items. I also appreciate that they make GF ones. My MiL recently got diagnosed with Celiacs, so its a nice treat for her. Their cold brew coffee and classic Boston Cream are my favorite. The service and staff are on point!I recommend planning and ordering ahead to get the flavors you want (check their social media for updates) but you can also get donuts same day.Thanks LoveBird for being awesome!

Great service and selection! They were a big hit with everyone, including the non-vegans. The store is huge with lots of beautiful seating. Cant wait to visit Maine and for some gourmet donuts!

This place makes some of the best donuts. I Went there over the weekend to get a few for V-day and I am very happy with both the GF and non GF selections, both equally delicious. Kayla and Jill were very helpful as it was my first time there. We will be back soon for more.

Donuts are amazingly good. But beyond that, I wanted to recognize their customer service as well. I had ordered a gift card for a friend online and wanted it shipped to my house. Due to a mailing error (my fault, not theirs in any way), the gift certificate was returned to them in the mail. They reached out to let me know what happened and offered to resend it. They had it in the mail again right away and I received it a few days later. I thank them for their help and customer service (and great donuts).

My experience was good until I walked thur the door to leave. I got Thur the door but then I fell backwards and had to have help to get up!!! Many customers were in & out around me but no one offeredTo help get me up. There was a lady with me but she couldnt lift me. Finally a young lady with a little baby in her arms was able to get me up!!! She was the only one who even to help!! There werr 3 workers behind the counter but none saw what was going on!!! I had a walking cane with me but it wasnt any help!! There donutsare Delicious and I guess it was an Accident.. Pay Attention to whats going on around you!! I know everyone were concerned about gettting their coffee and donuts!! But kind of look out for other people around you.. And this young Mom risked herself and baby trying to help me!! I will always be Greatful!!!

This is the best vegan doughnut shop I have ever been to. The doughnuts are made the way they were back when I was young in the late 80s and early 90s. I bought and old fashioned, monkey bread muffin, with a chai latte. Everything tasted amazing and went together perfectly. Will return.

I would recommend this place anytime anyone wanted (an) AMAZING donut(s) and coffee. These are the best donuts I have ever had in my life, and the best vegan donuts I have ever had in the 10 years I have been vegan. My nonvegan family said the same thing. Its worth the drive. And the staff are so great and helpful. Its just all around one of my favorite places and experiences.

These donuts are absolutely amazing. Drove an hour to try this place out and it was more than worth it! The brioche donuts are so perfectly fluffy and the cake donuts are just as yummy. I’m not usually a fan of anything vegan, but I have to say I didn’t even know they were vegan until I after crushed a Boston Cream and Raspberry Chocolate fry cake and my wife told me. These donuts are awesome. I feel like I have had some good donuts in the past and these can keep up.
