Springfield released a new pistol. I went in here to order one as Springfield directs you to these jokers as a retailer.Upon talking to the guy at the gun counter I was told We dont order anything for anyone.Kind of took me a moment to process that response. I simply said okie dokie and placed the ammo I was going to buy back on the shelf and walked out.If they dont want my business I certainly dont have to give them any. I suggest you move along and patronize another store because this store has become a joke over the past couple years and quite simply doesnt want your business if it takes them any effort at all. They used to order things in for me, guess its a new policy that they cant be bothered now.Really a shame given the money I have spent here over the years. Thought I would patronize my local gun shop instead of giving another one money or ordering in and making Jax do the transfer. Now they wont get money from either option.Oh well, bad business is bad business. On to the next dealer.Edit: Also reached out to Springfield Armory to let them know about this experience with their suggested dealer.

Dear Jax.............you continue to surprise us in a positive manner! We were in today to buy some walking shoes for my husband. The young lady, Riley, was a wealth of knowledge sharing information about different brands and their strengths and weaknesses making sure we matched the correct shoes with my husbands needs. I ended up buying a pairs of Keenes as well. Your staff is always pleasant. I bought a pair of walking shoes there three weeks ago as well. You are our go to place here is town every time we need outdoor or sporting gear. .Kameron, in firearms was a wealth of information as well. Overall another pleasant experience. I purchased a pair of waterproof keen shoes. After 3 days of use there was stitching coming undone and a piece of rubber had cracked. I purchased these shoes because they were waterproof and where the rubber failed they now let in water. I tried to return the defective shoes but was told sorry cant help you and just go buy a second pair or to call keen. Which I did call and they told me return them to the store I purchased them at. So here I sit with defective merchandise and neither company wanting to help

Everyone is super nice. Especially Troy in the sporting goods department, hes been super knowledgeable and kind and has made amazing recommendations that weve not regretted. Store products are quality and reasonably priced as well.

Dont ever have a repair done at the bike shop. It took them over two weeks to replace a spoke. They said it would only take two days- and every time I called asking how much longer it would take they always said a day or two. Also when replacing the spoke they didnt replace the rim tape on the wheel. Ill never be back to this store!

A very diverse collection of outdoor gear for sale. Like a mini REI but with a local flavor. Many Colorado produced goods in this store. All high-quality goods. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. The goods are at a premium but they are not cheaply made Chinese goods. One can buy propane here too.

We love this place! They have something for everyone, I believe. The people are always really nice and helpful and they are a good company, it seems. We really enjoy shopping here for outdoor, kitchen, special treats, gifts, and so many other items. They even have great seasonal items!

My teenage daughter needed a backpack for a 6 day trek this August. Eric at Jax in Lafayette spent over an hour with us finding exactly the right fitting backpack. Having a correctly fit pack made a huge difference in how much she enjoyed the trip (a lot) and her willingness to plan another trip (very). I dont know of any other place whose employees have the knowledge and time to help the customers select their gear. This is the very best place!

I tried to spend my money here but I felt like there was always something more important going on that I was taking them away from . Probably under staffed and over worked ?. I don’t ask for much just some follow through on call backs and a bit more attention to detail. Sorry guys just not a great experience, I know it wasn’t intentional but you all need to realize that you are not in the gun business rather the customer service business.

They open at 9 M-F and 8 on Sundays. Please correct the Google hours! I wanted to shop before 9am, drove 20 min to the store... No shopping possible. Why cant you open before 9am?

We decided to go check out the archery range over the break. We were able to get a lane and rent recurve bows. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Be aware the range is outside and dress appropriately.

Mask usage was weak. 3/3 employees (around the store) didnt even try to wear their mask over their nose but the 1 female employee we saw at the checkout wore hers properly.

John was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He helped me make an informed purchase and was clearly interested in providing me with knowledge, while not being a pushy salesperson. Great experience, would highly recommend!

Went in to buy a pair of Keen shows. I know they are ugly but once you start wearing them your feet don’t like anything else. I had checked on line and Jax price was within a dollar. Got in the store and they were also 30% off. Very one was very friendly and helpful. Love this store.

Good store, not so great bike shop. Called in asking if I need an appointment for a simple derailer adjustment. They said no thats a quick job. Bring my bike in and the tech says 10 to 15 min wait. Feel free to browse around the shop. Waited 40min. Ask for an update. Original tech gone, some new guys tells me its gonna be 30min. So I sat outside for 1hr 10min to get a simple detailer adjustment. Lol I think I will go somewhere else next time.

This is a great place to shop for your outdoor adventure needs. Staff is friendly and helpful. Jared informed me that they provide rentals of watercraft like SUPs and kayaks. On expensive gear like that, try before you buy is definitely a good idea. New organization of the gear area seems more intuitive and easier to navigate than before. It seems like they are actually able to stock more stuff than before, although thats just my unscientific observation. Either way, a great place to get gear in Lafayette along 287. No need to make the trek to Boulder or Denver for a good selection of quality gear.

Everyone in the bike shop was super helpful. I went in to put fenders in my bike thinking it would be a quick and easy process, but it turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected. The mechanics worked hard to install them as best and quick as they could. Im very grateful for their help. Thanks guys!!

Army surplus!, archery, knife and gun and fishing arts, camping (candy store,!) shoes, clothing cookware books, etc. Etc. Etc. Its worth the trip!

The selection here is good and the products they carry are generally high quality. The service is great, someone is always available to assist you. I think this is a good place to go if you need guidance on what gear you need or the pros and cons of different pieces. You pay for that . Their prices are not the lowest. If youre a seasoned outdoors person, you can find similar gear elsewhere at better prices.

I went in looking for a sight. Found a high quality sight but cost was more than one I had reviewed elsewhere. A woman named Brandi was very helpful and even offered classes in using handguns for women. Very friendly & knowledgeable. Love Jax, great selection of outdoor supplies, and more.

We came today for a new bow for my son. We were very impressed with the archery department. There was a much bigger selection than the larger chain stores we had previously visited. Staff was awesome! They took their time and answered all our questions, never aggressively trying to upsell us. Great experience.

Absolutely LOVE both stores. Having lived in East County for 27 years, having Jax come to town was a huge gift. Newbies dont know how we used to have to drive 20 minutes away to get what they carry. I try and do all my home, garden, sporting goods, camping, shopping here. They have great products, are fair priced and they are a local Colorado company. But one of the things I really like about Jax is how the employees love the owner. Hes one of the most decent business people a person can meet.

Very friendly staff and a good selection. They even have an archery range that you can use your own or you can rent equipment. This was actually a fun time for the family and of course we picked up a few camping supplies while we were here.

Fishing department is top notch. Usually dont have crazy sales or liquidation stuff like other big stores, but the prices are good to begin with and they have what works IN COLORADO, not a wall full of destination lures based on what works elsewhere in the country. Mike is very knowledgeable and honest.

Jax is my go to store for anything fishing/hiking/camping related. The guys in each department are knowledgeable and and provide insight and actually answer questions. The prices are reasonable, and the selection is great. I love the Army Surplus selection as well.

Nice store. My husband is 65 and has been looking for a day pack for 6 months. Because of height it has been very difficult to one that fits and is comfortable. He found one at Jax. Even on line he could not find one that fit. We would highly recommend this store. Not only did they have the pack but knowledgeable sales people and weight to put in it to see how it felt.

I came in one Saturday a few weeks ago and witnessed an elderly cashier screaming at a young lady most likely under the age of 20 (presumably another cashier), this is extremely unprofessional and I very much hope that the older employee was terminated for this behavior. This business has been on thin ice with me for a while with how employees act (they appear to be burnt out and overworked, they do their jobs well), lack of knowledge for products, and I’ve heard a lot that this store has a high turn over. They are still trying to convince the community that this is a “local business”, which they are now not with two out of state locations. Products are sold at an extremely high mark up, they back this up saying that it’s to guarantee quality. Isn’t that the job of the manufacturer? After that interaction with the cashiers right upon entering the store I really don’t think I will be back, I’d rather pay a shipping fee on an expensive product than witness that behavior again.

Jax is a really cool outdoor/sporting goods store, offering well selected, yet somewhat diverse brands. They have a great selection of bicycle and other outdoor gear; definitely reflecting the range of Colorado interests. Mixed in, I often find interesting things I dont see in similar stores, e.g. sky watching equipment and kids outdoor tech toys.Jax is a real gem in Lafayette, especially when you consider the separate Jax Farm and Hardware store across on the south side of S Boulder Road.

This place is an amazing gem of a Colorado outdoor gear store!! Youll be surprised how many brands of boating, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, & yard work gear they offer. And they are all smiles to answer ad many questions as you have.

They have a great variety of stuff: camping gear, outdoorsy books, bikes, kayaks, games for kids, clothing, firearms and cookware. They have a propane filling station instead of exchanging which is nice. Prices are usually good but not exceptional but it is a local store which is nice. They also have 3 EV charging spots out front.

Better than bass pro or cabelas

While I very much disagree with the policy that their employees cannot have dyed hair, (come on, do you know what year it is?) this is a great place for outdoor gear. Mostly I would like to comment on the customer service. I got a new bow for Christmas but the string was too small. I took it over to Jax and they set me up with the right string. However one of the ends (its a three part recurve bow) did not get put back in the package. I didnt realize this until months later when the weather was good for shooting. I went back to the store and they had held on to the part! The man that helped me in the archery department was very nice and I was so happy that they made an effort to hold on to the missing part. Thank you for great customer service!

Wonderful archery staff and range. Archery shop sells and services Mathews compound bows and Sage recurves. Staff is very kind, helpful, and knowledgable--I dont trust anybody else to work on my compound. The archery range is outdoor but with covered shooting positions and both sides are blocked off to reduce wind. Distance is 13 yards and theres 10 shooting positions. My daughter got into archery via their kids classes; highly recommended!

This place has everything, at a reasonable price, without feeling trendy or where everyone is trying to constantly sell you something. Everyone in this store in knowledgeable and helpful but leaves you alone without bothering you constantly while you shop. I go out of my way to come to this place. Jax is probably my favorite store in Colorado at this point. If they can manage to keep their prices as low as possible I hope they stick around for awhile.
