The coffee is great, but their beans are outstanding. The only roaster I get my coffee from. Always less than two weeks since roasting. Made my mornings even better!

I don’t know how I’ve never been to Otis before! I landed here today because of a meeting and it will absolutely be one of my new regular client meeting spots! What a great environment.I love a good seasonal specialty drink and I was excited to see they had some great choices! I got the Sweater Weather and it was sooooo tasty. A hint of orange and spice and just enough creaminess. I highly recommend trying it!

I just stopped in Otis Coffee for the first time today and I can tell you, I will be back! I just got a simple camomile tea and 100% the best camomile tea I have ever had! 10/10 recommend. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and truly a place you want to sit and hang out! Love Otis Coffee!

This is my favorite coffee shop in this area. It’s got good space inside, the staff is nice, and the espresso is tasty. They have a good seasonal drink rotation too! I’ve also found that sweetened drinks aren’t sickeningly sweet like you’ll find at some other places

Great coffee shop, next to this huge indoor, very open-spaced seating area shared with the surrounding shops, with tons of couches, chairs, and tables to hang out at.I had their Spicy Brown Cow drink, which is a mocha with added cinnamon, allspice, and cayenne pepper. I had mine with oat milk. It was a delicious surprise of spicy chocolatey coffee.

Both coffee and pastries are pretty good. The ambiance is inviting as well.

What a fantastic find this was! A large area outside the coffee shop to sit made it a great place for an informal business meeting. Chairs spaced so it’s so comfortable! Happy to shop local coffee. Dog friendly!

This is my first visit to Proper since they moved. I love the new space! Theres plenty of places to sit, which was challenging at the last spot. Yummy bottomless coffee was enjoyed for hours while I worked on my laptop.

First time here. They were busy, but neither of the staff was flustered. They calmly for everyone their coffee/item of choice and were friendly. Then I tried my latte. 😍Yummm. Perfectly steamed milk, fabulous flavor to the coffee itself. Definitely find my new fave coffee spot.

Very fast (and secure) internet. Plenty of spacious seating and comfy (and less comfy) seating. Drinks are fairly proceed for size and style and are delicious. My only gripe: handles on coffee cups. There are none. I get it, they look great but a full cup + heat - handle = less than desirable cups. The saucers help, truly, but its a spill waiting to happen for me.

Ive loved OTIS since I first discovered it two years ago as Proper Coffee. Their oat milk lattes are out of this world - I come by every time I get the chance!

The new location is gorgeous. The drinks are great WiFi is super fast and it’s never too crowded. I’ll be interested to see how the layout looks and feels once they bring the roaster into the back room. This place has solidified itself as my favorite spot to work or meet colleagues and clients.

Strong and mellow espresso - never bitter or acrid. The place is bourgie looking but genuinely cool and never pretentious. Staff have been friendly and willing to make adjustments to drinks upon request. Also, my wife loves their chai.

Love is coffee shop in Lafayette. Friendly baristas and great coffee. I love getting the single origin Colombian or Congo when they have it and I suggest you give it a try if you like good coffee. They currently have outdoor seating available on the patio or you can take away. Also they have a selection of beans for sell to make at home.

Since moving to the area we have tried a few different roasters in hopes to find one we can stick with for our coffee bean needs. I think we found it. Looking forward to post-pandemic hanging out and getting to know the place and the staff better.

Ive always liked this place, it has a wonderful character and does a superb roast. The staff, completely turned over now thanks to COVID-19, was and remains friendly, warm and hospitable. The coffee has always been excellent, but now they have a decaf roast which is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.Its very, very rare that you find a good decaf roast, much less a roastery that takes decaf seriously. This is probably the best decaf Ive ever had, no kidding.

Amazing staff, great environment, wonderful people

Decent coffee. I met a friend here to try the place out but I dont like the overall environment. It is very stale and cold in an industrial sort of way. I personally like a more cozy warm environment when I enjoy a coffee beverage and this isnt it. Everything seems hard. No sense of softness. But then it also seemed to be more of a satellite business office for people than a place to meet and converse. Just not my style I guess.

The amount of love, time, quality and craftsmanship that has gone into this café is not only apparent, but also memorable. It is all done with great intention--and I mean that from not only how the coffee is brewed, but also how it is sourced, roasted, and poured. The baristas go out of their way to not only make you feel at home, but also craft you something youre sure to enjoy. I appreciate the fact that the pastries are fresh everyday and that the owners also frequent the shop. In my opinion, this level of presence demonstrates how much everyone cares, from management to support staff!

Been visiting since it was Proper Grounds several years ago in the previous location. Fantastic coffee and friendly staff. The only negative, perhaps, is the close proximity to the church. Fortunately, Otis has made a point to distance itself from the church’s backward ideology - with a welcoming message of “loveeverybody” and other more public statements.

Otis is my favorite place to enjoy a warm beverage in Lafayette. The baristas are the friendliest, the drinks are the most delicious, and the atmosphere is absolutely fantastic! Also, theyre good about being allergy friendly :)

This coffee shop is a breath of fresh air! My almond milk latte was not only delicious, but beautiful, and the staff was so warm and caring. I admire the attention to detail and keeping the menu simple and classic-- the mark of a true coffee connoisseur. Proper Coffee + Cocktails is open, clean, thoughtfully decorated, and has plenty of places to work and just hang out. There is clearly a lot of heart in this spacious cafe.

The staff here are very knowledgeable about their products they sell. In addition they really listen to what customers want and make suggestions to compliment what they order which have been spot on! Awesome place to come ad relax or to do a little work with a different vibe than Starbucks. Their new location is roomy and comfy. Highly recommend stopping here for coffee, tea or a quick bite to eat.

Former loyal customer... the new location is, well, new. I have a diet restriction, being that I am diabetic. I looked forward to my Sunday ritual, my sugar free hazelnut latte with skim milk. My husband and I were frequent customers, going at least 2-3 times a week. The staff, which we absolutely loved, would already know our order before we walked up to the counter. We were so loyal, my husband (who works at the local grocery store) turned his co-workers onto Proper Grounds. We were very excited to check out the new location, only to be extremely disappointed to find out they dont offer any sugar free syrups because they want to stay all natural. Which I get, but COME ON! No sugar free option at all? Well be going to a different coffe shop from now on. They do have good coffee, but very sad to say, good-bye Proper Grounds. Offer a sugar free option and this former loyal customer might be willing to return.

The coffee is good, I find myself driving to Ozo in Boulder sometimes. The one problem I have is this place is incredibly slow. Envision a sloth making your coffee. If I see more than 3 people in line I just turn around. I have seen that place completely fall apart when more than 5 people are waiting. The worst time was when I waited 30+ minutes for a latte. This is rather strange since I seen a single person operation run more efficiently

This is now the only place I ever want to get coffee. The owner is friendly, knowledgeable, and very customer service oriented. He obviously cares and is passionate about the business of coffee. And speaking of the coffee, it is outstanding! I usually drink tea, but Proper Grounds just might make a convert of me. Coffees are flavorful and aromatic without being overly sweet or bitter. The care that goes into making them is apparent. If youre in the area, this place is well worth the stop.

Great coffee! Great space very decent prices too. It has a great atmosphere and you can work, write or just meet with a friend.the tables are big and has beautiful character to them. They even got sittings outside for the summer or sunny days. The only reason it got 4 stars from me because Im not a big fan sitting on wood chairs, I guess more comfortable sittings can make it a 5 for me.

Not much more I can say than other reviewers. It is a very nice space with big windows and comfy places to sit. The coffee is simply the best in all East County and probably Boulder, too. And its also very consistent. (Lack of consistency in other independent shops is often the reason I have settled for Starbucks, but no more!) The owner is a great guy, very knowledgeable about coffee, and almost always on site. And if you like good foam and those wonderful foam creations you ought to get with a $4 espresso drink, the baristas here will not disappoint!This place is kind of hard to find, but well worth the effort!

This coffee shop appears to be all about the coffee which is great for the purist coffee lover. I would have preferred more of a selection in food to eat with my coffee. I went there for a meeting hoping to have coffee and a bagel, but they dont sell bagels. Also, the whole place has a pretty sterile feeling to it unlike some other cozier local coffee shops like East Simpson Coffee. One person in our party had coffee that had gone cold but when he asked staff to heat it up for him they said they didnt have a microwave because we dont need one. Well, if a customer wants their coffee heated up, maybe you do.

This is the BEST espresso in the Denver metro area! If you come here it will ruin your normal coffee house. Every barista makes smooth wonderful tasing espresso drinks absolutely no bitterness or burnt taste. The environment is super welcoming and family friendly. I’ll frequently come here with my family. It’s the perfect environment to spend a relaxing morning chatting with my wife while my son plays with his toys. They also have amazing drip coffee and pastries. I’m a customer for life.

Oh man. We are lucky here in South Lafayette. This might be the best coffee emporium in Boulder County. Owner is a young micro roaster who is very friendly and extremely conscientious about all things coffee. Take the trouble to find this incredible Lafayette gem. Get your favorite espresso drink or pour-over and take home some beans that were roasted within the week. Also great house-baked pastries (gluten free available). For some reason this store comes up on Google as a tea house. True, they have some very nice teas as well--properly brewed and served. But this is a coffee roaster first and foremost.

Artisan coffee, beans sourced directly from the roasters. Intricate flavors giving an accurate and wonderful representation of coffee. Our best cup of coffee has come from here. Well keep coming back to tasting a unique roast and taking beans home. Great place to buy gifts at

2020 Update: This is still the best coffee you will find in Lafayette, and Top 5 Denver surrounding area (and thats saying something). Awesome espresso machine and decor in general; awesome baked goods, and a growing offering of handmade cocktails and plates. The Big Gulps are a game changer, its awesome to bring home some cold brew. Outdoor seating is awesome, as is the indoor area. Hang around after coffee for beers at FRBC!

This is a sophisticated new locally owned coffee shop in Lafayette! The quality of the coffee rivals anything on Pearl Street... because he roasts his own! I also like that he has some creative ways to brew the coffee, which offers an entirely new flavor to your cup of Joe. If you want to try something new, and get HOOKED this is the place to go!

Awesome! Great, knowledgeable, and friendly service. Very clean with rustic, cozy decor. I had chai and a blueberry muffin. Both were excellent. They offered many milk options. Im not sure, but I think they might make the pastries there. It was still slightly warm and tasted very fresh. It was busy but quiet enough to go sit and read or get work done.

Kind of out of the way but the espresso here is amazing. Get the house special (Cuban cortado breve) and you wont regret. I come here to get work done but its often too busy to find anywhere to sit inside despite being on the far side of town.

Ive never wanted to give a 4.5 rating more--I really enjoyed my time here, the space theyve created, and the options they had for food and beverages. I also have no doubt that Ill be back, as it was such a calm and relaxing environment. My only hiccup is with the chai--there was something about it that just seemed a hair off and I couldnt figure out what; some flavor that I couldnt place. (Also, they do a spicy chai, and this one brings the heat--which is great--so if you like your chais sweeter, Id suggest looking elsewhere!) That being said, as someone who doesnt drink coffee, the seasonal offerings they have sound so good I may end up giving coffee another chance. Overall, definitely recommend.

I have been in a handful of times, specifically for the lavender cappuccinoo/latte option, which is wonderful! Drinks are made very well. The staff has been hit & miss (I have been treated 2nd rate to regulars; I have heard two males negatively discuss a female customer who just left; I have had great customer service as well). Cold brew is delicious. I love that they market Specials and they seem to have a good amount of food options. They offer incentives on merchandise or gift cards as well, which is cool.

Service is very slow! Coffee is good but need to take names as my Coffee was taking by impatient customers who just grab it and walk off. Ive been here before and its always slow service. It was better at their last location. Staff was friendly!

Recently moved into the apartments nearby and needed to find somewhere to get my fix on the weekends. While I do pay a little bit more at Proper Grounds than my usual goto (on my way to work during the week), I have to admit the quality is worth every penny. I usually buy espresso drinks, and theirs are damn good.

Proper grounds is a great spot to study or catch up with friends! ive been here a couple times after church since its right across the street. theres been a semi-long line both times, but it moves super quick. my almond milk white chocolate raspberry mocha was done and ready at the counter just seconds after i finished paying. their lattes are good-- not too sweet. on the pricier side, with a small being over $5, but i guess thats just the general trend these days. extra points for having almond milk as an option and for doing cool latte art! it would have been nice to get my drink in a mug instead of a to go cup since i was planning on staying, but no big deal. they also seem to have some interesting desserts and a few breakfast items (breakfast burritos, etc), which i will probably try next time im there.

Good Coffee, Nice Experience Having had to stand in line and not find anywhere to sit at the older and smaller shop, I was impressed with the new layout. Lots of space to meet a business friend. My cappuccino was excellent...perfect. I didnt check the bandwidth, but the wifi signal was strong enough for me to make a clear VOIP call from my cell. I still think its the best coffee shop in town.

This is the best coffee and the best coffee house I have encountered. I travel worldwide for work, and I love good and drink. It is really that simple.

The music nearly drove me insane (bad R&B)..... The quiche had a nice crust but was completely unsalted and therefore extremely bland; no salt appeared to be available. Also, even after 10 minutes of waiting for them to heat the quiche it was no more than room temperature, which leads me to wonder if it had been frozen or if it was heated for a minute and then forgotten for 9 before they put it on the counter. Also overpriced.

Proper Grounds is a premier coffee roaster. I often buy their beans to brew at home. In addition, they have knowledgeable staff who can prepare a cup however you like it: drip, espresso, Chemex, Aeropress, french press, and more. If you want a really good cup in Lafayette, this is the place.As for food and hanging out, its not my favorite cafe in town, but definitely holds its own and brings me back regularly. The place is small, so you need to occasionally be prepared to purchase your cup to go.

I was looking for a spot to study to kill an hour of time. Im a nervous person which makes finding new places unpleasant. The man at the counter greated me and smiled a ton which helped me start feeling at ease. And when I asked about milk (black tea) the woman was very kind about the mentioning the vegan-ish options instead of making me feel out of place, not knowing they dont have dairy milk. Then came the tea (delicious and full of flavor) with a steeping contraption like none I had ever encountered. So I was panicking inside hoping to look nonchalant as I took the entire thing out. But they didnt even look at me funny. I give this place an A+ :)
