We are new to the music world as our kiddo has been in guitar lessons for about 7 months now, but everytime we go in the store we are greeted warmly like weve been customers for years. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Wish I knew the name of your gentleman that helped us today. He took his time out to explain the different size of guitars to us and educate us on the different guitar picks and strings. Cant wait to buy kiddos new guitar for Christmas from here. Definitely rather support this local business than shop online.

Had another fun visit to your store. Came to purchase a slide for my slide guitar. Justin was the perfect CS rep to help me select the right slide. Then the drum guy with the double ear rings, one ear helped me find the perfect T shaped drum for my wife. Recently moved (back) to Lafayette. I havent been to Lafayette Music in probably 17-20 years. What a delight! I went specifically to look at their selection of Taylor Guitars - as they are an authorized dealer. WOW! They had 1 or more of every guitar across the line. All the way from Baby Taylors ($600ish) to 900 Series ($6,000ish), to Special editions and more! I had 2 separate people check on me, offer their help and input - while not being pushy at all. Not quite ready to pull the trigger, but when I am, I will be back!! A++ to Lafayette Music!

I brought my Yamaha pro 577 flute in to be worked on when after 9 years it suddenly wouldn’t play anything above high G. Well while there I asked if I could just “try “an upgrade. Will Green could not have treated me better! He made me feel me as if I was their number one customer ever, but actually that was the first time I had ever set foot in their store. Not only did I try an upgrade but the quality of the Yamaha Pro 677 flute convinced me to buy it too! Will Green even sweetened the deal beyond belief. I got so many extras that even if I find the flute online for less (which I won’t) I could never say anything. I’ve had it for about 2 weeks and I’ve already put about 30 hours of playing time on it! Not to brag but I now have that super cool C# trill key😊! Lastly my other flute was serviced to being like new again, except for the scratches that I assume full ownership of. I am so happy that my Lake Charles music community friends pointed me to Lafayette Music!

Bought some guitar strings and caught up on the music 🎶 Business with Mike Burch. I havent seen him in 2-3 years, we both worked so much,before Covid-19 . Mike has been playing drums with Wayne Toups for as long as I can remember, along with a list of the best artist on the Gulf Coast. I talked with a few of the staff and was treated like royalty. Place was neat, clean and plenty of stock.

I could spend all day in here... They sell some of the finest instruments, amps, and pedals you can get in town. Their acoustic guitar selection is top notch and they always get some of the coolest electrics. Just bought a set of Pearly Gates pickups with a sticker price less than online! If you play you gotta go.

The staff is helpful as opposed to being more like a big-box chain. They are also personable as well as knowledgeable. Special shout out to Mr. Brian, who is my complete musical go-to person with any and all questions about my guitars.

Went in Lafayette Music today and I was ignored.I stood in line behind a female customer whom also had a young male standing next to her as if he was her son. I was standing in line waiting to get some gloves. After waiting about 4-5 minutes. A female customer walked in and the young man that I was standing behind in the line with the lady at the register immediately greeted the customer that walked in and took care of her. Im like damn, I came thru the same door and u seen me but didnt help me. My turn was next at the register so I told the guy behind the register that I didnt know that the young man work here because he never acknowledged me standing right behind him. He didnt apologize for the young worker. He just asked how he could help me. I purchased just 1 pair of gloves and left. I went to another music store and purchased an alto saxophone and was greeted right away and received excellent customer service. I will not spend another dime at Lafayette Music again. I will also tell others before the make the mistake going there.

They have a bunch of stuff here. Prices are decent. But the staff is not diverse. Move around and change up. Also, the place is a bit of a crowded dump. Move some of that merchandise. Then make silos of instrument groups.

Lafayette Music was recommended to me. I brought my new, very expensive, Guild acoustic guitar to get a LR Baggs Anthem StagePro pickup installed in it. I was greeted quickly and friendly. Brian and I talked about the the pickup I wanted and said that it was an excellent choice. He did mention that they would have to make a cutout on the body of the guitar for mounting the new pickup and gave me other options if that wasnt desired. They had the pickup in stock and told me that it would take a couple of weeks to install, and quoted me the price for everything. The install took less time than they quoted me which made me happy that they didnt take advantage of the quoted time. The installation came out great! I used the guitar that evening in our church which just had installed a brand new soundboard. The sound from the guitar and pickup is awesome! I would definitely recommend Lafayette music for any guitar work. Thanks Lafayette Music for a job well done!

High prices. Staff is helpful and friendly. No bartering. At least not when I tried. Granted I did low ball but still, they didnt seem interested in that. Didnt know answers to some of my questions. Theres another shop down the road that is scope first. And Im not talkin about the guitar center.

Good people that were always willing to help me find just the right thing. Its a great place to go if you are interested in getting started with an instrument.

I come in to get my trumpet repaired and the guy knows what he’s doing and knows where the repair would be needed but won’t even think about getting it looked because it’s not a brand they sell. It’s an instrument just like any other brand done the same way and built the same way. But just because it isn’t a brand they sell out the store they didn’t want to give it a look nor repair. So If you have a different brand of instrument other than a Yamaha don’t go looking for repairs there.

My young musicians never pass up the chance to stop by Lafayette Music Store when we are visiting Lafayette. The staff is always friendly and incredibly accommodating. As a matter of fact, we have had our eyes on the Pearl E-Pro drum set for over a year. I recently called to get pricing on the set and Chance not only quoted me a reasonable price, but he also offered to deliver and set up our new drum set (in Houston, Texas) for a reasonable fee. The owner kindly agreed to allow his employee to provide us with complete customer service even out of state. Now thats AWESOME customer service. Thank you Lafayette Music for taking care of us Cajuns living in Texas.

Disappointing. I ordered and paid for a product over the phone that was supposed to take 8-10 business days to arrive. After 15 business days I called them to ask where it was. They didnt know. Then they didnt call back to tell me that they couldnt get in touch with the vendor. I asked for a refund and they told me itll take at least 14 business days for the money to get back to me.This is the kind of interaction that makes me go to Guitar Center.

They have really good instruments and the have private lessons if you need some and repair broken instruments you should go!
