First time ever being in this candy shop it’s super cute a little smaller than I expected but they have a wide variety of candy you are able to pick from. They also have benches and misters you are able to sit and relax at if you don’t want to immediately hop back in your car, they offer a potty space for dogs as well as a water bowl they can drink out of!
We love this place! They have all of the info and supplies needed for your hike, or your special occasion. The candy selection is great. The sandwiches are fantastic. They offer gluten free and sugar free selections, cobblers, pies, brownies, and even wedding cakes. The gift boutique is so unique. You can find an antique button, or even get something for your rock collection. The Ortega Sweet Spot is one of a kind. A must visit while cruising the 74.
Such a great spot to stop for a snack or lunch. The woman working was super friendly and all people were wearing their masks inside so it felt super safe. We enjoyed grabbing a candy treat and iced coffee after a hike nearby.
Cool candy store with an interesting selection. The woman working at the store was very nice and knew the area extremely well.
SHANNON IS THE MOST KIND HEARTED WOMEN IN THE WORLD SHE HELPED MY FAMILY WHEN WE REALLY NEEDED IT TODAY THANK YOU 😇😇😇😇🥰🥰🥰🥰
Nice ride on my bike cool little spot
She made her special panuci fudge (only twice a year) and it was delicious just like everything she makes! She is very kind, friendly, and helpful! Definitely stop here and buy some candy!
This place charges a 4% credit card processing fee on top of their already inflated prices. No working restroom for paying customers either...
Delightful place to visit after a hike! They have cold drinks, old-fashioned candy, and homemade treats. Recommend the pumpkin roll. Also, the orange shake, tastes like orange Julius. They also have sandwiches made to go.
Cute store but tourist expensive! Bought a good sized brownie for $4.00. Tasted good.
Been coming here since a was a little kid now Im taking my three kids here and its absolutely awesome how its pretty much the same 😊
Very good service! Very kind worker and delicious chicken salad sandwiches!!
Great little shop. We had a fun time looking around and buying candy after our hike to the waterfall. I also bought a cool rock that will remind me of my trip. The cheesecake was delicious, we ate the slice in the car and we had to drive back and buy a whole one before we drove home! The woman was very friendly too. Thank you!!
GLUTEN FREE BANANA BREAD! It’s a rare treat to find homemade gluten free baked goods that taste this good, let alone in the middle of a forest. Now add in the fact it was actually affordable compared to some other gluten free places, AND most importantly, the baker was also the cashier, and she listed off all the ingredients, informed me about prep space cross contamination precautions and the added steps she takes to make sure the products are celiac/nut/soy/dairy allergen safe (cuz as y’all with allergies know, you can never just eat anything with out grilling someone about the prep precautions). It was a probably good to be wearing a mask because it hid my stupid gleeful dazed with delight grin; such a hidden gem after a beautiful drive and morning hike.
Good selection, seems high priced but I suppose thats all of California 😄
Awesome little joint, reminds of good old days. Amazing owner, very welcoming. Great place for those with sweet tooth, brilliant selections. The price is right! Great place to pack your munchies and drive through the Ortega highway.
I might be a bit biased because my family owns it, but hey! A review is a review! I honestly love what my aunts done with the place. Love you Aunt Bubba! Keep working hard and making the candy man proud!
Great place to stop for your Forest Adventure Pass...
Great place to stop and get a sweet treat after a hike!
Great place but If the owner thinks the Ortega Highway doesnt need improving, she is delusional. The Riverside County side of that highway is horrible. The difference between that and the Orange County side is night and day as anyone can see and to say it does not need attention is self serving due to fear of access issues and people not stopping at her business.Great sandwiches, candy and old town feel but she should reevaluate her business plan to address the changes and petition the DOT for a signal or dedicated exit due to safety related issues.
Always a great stop after hiking Bear Canyon Loop, Chiquito Falls or Sitton Peak. Really look forward to a cold beverage and some sweets after a good hike. Candy Store has some unusual candies as well. Also, dont forget your adventure pass for parking at the trailhead across the street. If you dont have one, you can buy a day pass at the Candy Store.
Awesome store and very convenient.
The shop keeper/owner was really nice when we visited, and the place itself is pretty cute and has decent parking, but its incredibly expensive! $1 each for chocolate covered Ritz that I could make at home for a fraction of the price, among other things. The fudge looked delicious though!
Beautiful hike,little rocky.
Good selection of candy and not too much of the hard candy. Lots of various chocolate bites and perfect to browse the knick knacks after a beautiful hike in the wilderness right across the street. Easy to get to, though be careful if your young ones as its right on the body Ortega Hwy!
Very helpful
Awesome customer service! Very unexpected but it had one of the freshest tastiest sandwich ever! Great candy selection! We loved all the gifts for sale too!
Everything about this place is a delight. From the homemade goodies to lovely lady that runs this perfect throwback, to what makes you feel at home. If you have the time to stop and take a break from the windy curvy drive I would do it. Grab a homemade peanut butter cup.
Homemade candy and a casual atmosphere with benches and chairs to relax on. The loop trails are across the highway. A beautiful ride and a great place to stop to get a cold drink and something sweet to take home or eat on the trail.
The young lady who owns this candy store is sweeter than all the candy in her shop. You instantly get the at home feeling with her and her store. She makes some great bread, cookies, and cheese cakes. She also can hook up sugar free along with gluten free.
Great little store to go to when heading over the Ortega mountain
Cute little spot.
Nice place to stop for lunch or a quick bite on the way home. Nice people all the time. And homemade candy as well as the old classics.
Always love going in and at least grabbing a drink when I am hiking in area. . My buddy loves the veggie sandwiches and there desserts are excellent. Owner is a nice, friendly young lady who is always helpful.
Awesome little cute store, very convenient for your need while youre hiking around the area. Shannon the owner is such a great friendly person.
Super cute little fudge store. Situated at a junction of so many trail heads, this little shop becomes indispensable to the day hiker of the immediate areas.
Great candy site with tons of different sweets! I am very glad to have been able to eat the candy because it is great!
Good service and great candy. Of course thank you for serving DeJongs chocolate.

All kinds of goodies. Friendly people, and helpful. A lot of homemade goodies also. A regular spot I go to on weekends
Went here this past Sunday. Very cute shop. Was even going to come back after our hike to purchase some things. However, that was spoiled by the clerk who was too busy talking to her friend than to pay attention to potentially paying customers. When she did acknowledge us, she was very short and rude like we were disturbing her. Very unprofessional. Wont be coming back or recommending this place. Which is unfortunate.
Delicious candy and friendly service. I recommend the jam.
Great store. Very friendly staff. Amazing chocolate covered coffee beans.
Great place to grab a snack on the drive over the mountains.
Has all the best candy from when I was growing up.

Super cute little shop. The employee there was super friendly.
Great old fashion candy store with the best people. We stop here every time we shoot through to Dana Point and have always been sent on our way with a bag of sweets and a smile.
Nice owner, unique selection, great location.
Nice place and friendly staff, but terribly overpriced. $50 for a couple of jars of jelly and some banana bread?!
A special little find in the middle of Cleveland National Forest.
