They offer a wide selection of new and used machines to purchase and a complete repair and maintenance option to keep your machine in shape.I love the classes offered as well.

As soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted with a cheery hello and welcome: this makes me feel comfortable to spend as much time as I need to browse the fabric and threads. I am always impressed with the variety of fabrics - textures, colors, patterns, materials. The staff are friendly, helpful, and never make me feel like the beginner I am when I asked silly questions.

In high school my mom took me to a quilting shop in Salt Lake City. We both agreed if we ever needed some stress relief, we would go back to browse the beautiful fabrics. I felt the same at my first visit to the Montavilla shop in Lake Oswego. I recently purchased a sewing machine at the shop in Beaverton and started following the Facebook page. It was through FB that I saw several beautiful featured fabrics being sold at the Lake Oswego store. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and I didnt feel pressured to browse quickly or buy something. Everyone was also very mindful of social distancing.Did I buy fabrics I dont need? Yes. Did these fabrics inspire me to start new projects and reinvigorate my creativity? Absolutely. If you arent looking to spend money, dont go here because youll inevitably find something (or 12) that you like. It was hard to leave, Ill definitely be coming back!

Karen is excellent at helping to educate you on a new machine. She’s so good. I found Irina to be more interested in pushing sales than Educating youOn orientation of a new machine. Since you don’t have classes anymore, it’s important that you work with a customer to make sure that they understand how to operate the machine. Karen does that!

An awesome place. Karen was so nice and very knowledgeable. All of the staff are welcoming and fun. If you are a quilter, it is a must!

Montavilla Lake Oswego is one of my favorite places to spend time. The staff is friendly and helpful...but never over-bearing. Although they don’t consider themselves a quilt shop, they are MY go to for all my quilting needs. The selection of fabric they’ve curated is great quality and varied. I almost always find what I need and when I don’t, they are happy to order it for me if they can. In a world increasing geared to online shopping, Montavilla LO is a gem.

The store had a lot of new and used sewing machines to choose from so I had a one stop shopping trip which is exactly what Id hoped for. The sales person was very knowledgeable and after talking to me about what kind of machine I needed she helped me to decide on the one that best fit my needs. I would definitely recommend Montavilla Sewing Center to anyone wanting to buy a new or used sewing machine.

I have now purchased 5 sewing machines from Montavilla, including a long-arm quilting machine. Their service and support is why I keep going back! Even through Covid their support was reliable and their patience seems endless. I have also started both my granddaughters sewing experiences by shopping at Montilla for their appropriate machines to begin their lifelong journey with sewing. After living in many other states with limited or no sewing centers, the Montivilla Sewing Centers are a dream.

Montavilla carries the brands I prefer and all of the accessories that go with them. They have a good service department . I especially like the displays showing the capabilities of the machines and the large number of classes available to inspire use of the machines. I shop there often. The fabric selection at the Lake Oswego store is the best in the area.. very good quality.

I so appreciate the staff at Montavilla Sewing Centers to collect what I was looking for via a phone call and offering to bring it to my car. I ventured in with a mask and picked up the batting and some thread from the counter that was well protected by a plexaglass divider. I love this store perfectly placed where The Pine Needle used to be and the staff which has always been friendly and helpful before COVID and during this long winter of staying at home. Thank you. I look forward to future visits and classes when they resume.

The staff was so friendly and helpful! I came in with my old Bernina sewing machine that had been misbehaving, and had a broken light bulb. It would have taken weeks to have a full servicing completed, but Montavillas staff took a quick look, checked my tension, and got the machine back in working order, and replaced my bulb. They have a lovely selection of fabrics and amazing range of sewing machines. Love this place!

We went in to see what sergers were available, previously had only been in the store twice before and this time when we went in, the manager remembered who we were and gave us personal, friendly service! She didn’t rush my wife to decide what to buy and showed her how to use the machine she bought. We love out of town but the trip was completely worth it! Would definitely shop there again!

I went to the Montavilla Sewing center in Lake Oswego to look for a sewing machine to replace my very old one. I called to make an appointment to meet with a staff member and the person answering the phone was happy to help.Prior to my visit I had done a little research to narrow down a machine I was interested in purchasing. When I arrived at the store, the woman I had an appointment with greeted me and lead me to the sewing machine I wanted to look at. She asked if I would like to try it out along with others within the same price range and was very helpful and patient while I took my time deciding on a machine. I was able to test several machines and enjoyed my time learning about each one.I did purchase a machine after giving several a test run and I’m very satisfied with my purchase. I’ve been back since the then to get fabric for various projects.

I am very impressed with the customer service, the level of experience demonstrated and how welcoming everyone is. I had an issue with my machine and it was assessed and ended up being operator error. There was no charge for the time and I was given some tips on machine maintenance. And...picked up lovely fabric while I was there.

As quilter for years, I was so glad when I moved to Oregon and found Montavilla sewing center, they have been like family Brett the owner always says “hi” anytime he sees me, whether it be the store or a quilt show. It’s that personal touch that makes such a difference. When I go into the store they always tell me about sales or specials they’re having, but I’ve never felt pressured to purchase an item. When I do purchase an item like the several machines I have bought, they have always searched for the best deal for me and provided excellent education. I’ve even traded up some of my machines and they’ve always given me a fair market value. All the staff that I have encountered have been polite, kind and welcoming me to the store with open arms and it is that individual attention that keeps me coming back each time!!!

Ive always had a good experience at Montavilla Sewing Centers. Everyone is so helpful, and they seem to want me to succeed! Ive purchased a few machines there, and used to enjoy going into town (Wilsonville to Portland) to buy fabric at Fabric Depot and stop to see what was new at Montavilla (yeah... wish that one-stop could still happen). Also enjoyed seeing MSS at the big quilt shows at the Expo Center (bought one of my machines there). I recently visited the Lake Oswego store, and liked the fabrics, found what I needed - Beaverton is most convenient, tho.

I went in to buy a new bobbin case and the employee asked to look at my broken one before I bought a new one. He found that only a tiny screw had broken, he fixed it for free and saved me $50. Weeks later I was having tension issues and was hesitant to wait the 4-6 weeks to have it fully serviced because I was in the middle of a project. They asked me to bring my machine in to just check it out. The same employee checked all the usual suspects, made a couple important adjustments, taught me some great tips and tricks, and again did not charge me. It was so nice to go in and be able to ask questions and get the help I needed. Thank you!!

I am a complete novice and a man. I have been wanting to get some projects done and so I have been looking for about a year. My mother was a very good seamstress and had always gone to Montavilla Sewing Center to get her machines and service so I started there.The friendliness and service as well as the great deal convinced me to buy there. Their constant help and amazing kindness not only keep me coming back but cause me to recommend them to everyone. In a world of diminishing service and reasons to visit physical retail, Montavilla is a great example of what great retail is and why it needs to survive. I feel like part of a community when I am there and feel welcome when I come in with questions.They are earnestly interested and even know my name when I come through the door (and I have only been there a handful of time).I could go on with many more examples but suffice it to say, they are a great place! 11 out of 10!

The easy, safe curbside pick up when shut down for Covid was very helpful. While staying at home, I was doing a big quilting project, and the helpful staff pick out the extra fabric i needed, fabric I described, put by the door for me to look at and then i was able to do curbside pick up. I needed a can of special sticky spray, and they transferred it from another store. Last summer I took the beginning quilt class which gave me the necessary know how to build a quilt. I highly recommend the beginning class - Quilting 101. Ruth

Shop local for terrific service. I was looking for a sewing table. Yes, I could have ordered it online, tried to figure out the insert for my machine, and asked someone to help me put it together. Decided to see if I could shop local and called Montavilla in Lake Oswego. From the start I had personalized service. Everything about the process felt comfortable and my questions specific to my machine and needs were answered. I am very happy with the table. It arrived ready to go. From start to finish the service was great.

Customer service was great. I live on the East side of Portland so had driven a ways to get this shop’s Quilter’s Trek kit. I love the shop. Wonderful fabrics and friendly, helpful service.

My inexpensive sewing machine did not work anymore; a singer with a few zigzag stitches, nothing special. I took it in to the Lake Oswego Montavilla Sewing Store to see if it could be fixed. I spoke to the nicest young lady... wish I could remember her name; so knowledgable and helpful. She said yes, the machine could be fixed but the repair cost might be more than the machine is worth. I use my machine for mending and very easy projects. My son-in-law is minus a finger on one hand. I help him out by modifying his work gloves. At that moment I felt like I was in a bind because I do need a machine and was, at that moment wanting to fix some gloves. This helpful young lady showed me a few very basic machines that could essentially do what my broken machine had previously done well... and for much less than the repair. I was given a rebate for the broken machine, taking it off my hands. I left good about the whole transaction, and went straight home to fix up the gloves for my son-in-law. And I got er done!I recommend Montavilla. This young lady intuited that I wasnt a big spender, nor did I want to wait days for a costly repair. I left feeling that my problem had been completely solved in a matter of minutes!Good job, Montavilla!

Great work. Timely. I had a basic machine service to my Singer. Even though COVID was going on and they were experiencing a delay, my machine was back much sooner than anticipated. It runs like new again.

My aging sewing machine was cleaned and adjusted and is working great. The work was done ahead of schedule and it was easy to pop in to retrieve the machine. Thanks for your help!

Staff is always friendly and accommodating. When my quilting group meetshere, some wonderful person (whose name I confess I dont know) helps usto troubleshoot our sewing machines if we are having difficulties. The store has a nice selection of fabrics. I particularly like the Australian collection. Also, theres a nice selection of sewing paraphernalia available, and lots of sewing machines on display. When I am ready for an upgrade on my machine, I wont hesitate to purchase a new one here.

Lake Oswego has a wonderful store. The staff are friendly and helpful. The fabric selection, though smaller than the Pine Needles, is wonderful and up to the standards of the Pine Needle. The selection of sewing/embroidery machines is great. I purchased a sewing machine I had researched online and wasn’t disappointed when I was able to sew on it at the store. They have wonderful financing. I already own another sewing/embroidery machine, but purchased this one for straight sewing and garment construction. The only downside is during Covid there are no in store sewing training/tutorials. I would consider myself an advanced sewer, but with the new, highly computerized sewing machines with advanced functions, there are always new techniques and processes to learn. Learning now has transferred to the Web. Great store and great staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a sewing/embroidery/serger, etc. machine. Also if you need some cool fabric, they’re the place to go.

I have purchased my sewing machines at Montavilla for over 40 years. Montavilla has a well rounded selection of machines to choose from. I trust the staff ability to provide excellent information about any sewing machine, serger, embroidery machine, or long arm they have in the shop. Their maintenance on the machines is always the best. Lately I have even taking different classes too. The classes help give me the tips and tricks of the trade. What more could I possibly ask for?

I have never sewed before and was somewhat intimidated by all the machines and possibilities. The staff at Montavilla Sewing Center in Lake Oswego could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They suggested I join an open sew session. They provided me with a machine and directions for a tote bag. The end result was definitely that of a beginner but the encouragement, assistance and support could not have been more perfect and has given me the confidence to continue.

Took my sewing machine in for maintenance and they did a great job. Great shop also for fabric and staff is very friendly. At a later date had a thread looping issue and in less than 10 minutes the machine tech had my machine running perfectly, again...just in time to finish my Christmas sewing. Great service and also a good selection of fabric.

As a newcomer to Lake Oswego, Oregon, I had some drapery repair work that I needed to do. I went in to buy materials and was greeted by the friendliest most helpful staff I could ever imagine. They let me use all of their equipment, including sewing machine that they set up for me, ironing board, scissors and best of all their guidance. I really needed that as I hadn’t done much sewing in quite a long time. I cannot say enough good things about your sewing center. I hope I can soon create a project so that I can return to this beautiful environment.

I love the people at the Montavilla Lake Oswego store. They are friendly and very knowledgeable. I purchased a Baby lock Triumph last year and more recently a scan and cut. I LOVE my Triumph and just made a bunch of shirts and shorts for my grandsons. Ive had questions and called in and always receive quick answers. They have a great selection of classes as well as events. They cover it all!

Right in the middle of the COVID-19 mask making frenzy, a small spring in my bobbin compartment flew out and rendered my Janome inoperable. I took my machine to the Lake Oswego store and had the spring located and reattached on site. At that time I realized I was a good 4 years into never having had this machine serviced (shame on me) and I reluctantly chose to leave my friend behind and get it running in tip-top shape. I was notified that it would take five to six weeks turn around for servicing and we all know when you are in the middle of a project, the last thing you want to do is give up your sewing machine. But, in about four and a half weeks, my machine was ready, my automatic needle threader was replaced, and the old broken one returned to me. Now it runs like a new machine! I would not hesitate to take my machine to Montavilla again for service or repair.

I was having difficulty finding a certain bobbin thread and Montavilla Sewing Center was able to get it for me - and very quickly! Very happy they have a location close to me! Great customer service!

Amazing staff at both locations, took a class and could not have been more happy! The instructor was beyond amazing and patient! (I might have been a bit over my head but that didnt stop him!!) the Lake Oswego shop is bright and open. I will certainly take more classes from them.

The sewing machines I left for cleaning were finished in the amount of time promised. The only tiny issue was having to run the payments through twice - once for each machine.

Excellent store! Ive taken my machine in for service there, and they were very kind and did a great job on my machine. They are also willing to help you with whatever questions you may have. And while they carry a small selection of fabric, it was definitely very nice and some modern choices too! Would definitely recommend and would go back!

They have a great selection of batik and aboriginal design fabrics and cool, unique prints--retro styles, some themed designs, etc.--focus is on quality and variety, not quantity. Employees were helpful and friendly. There was a class going on that looked fun. I went back in to show them photos of my finished project and they were so excited and happy for my success.
