This place is absolutely amazing! Their customer service is phenomenal! The young lady at the front desk made sure everything was throughly explained before proceeding with the service on my vehicle. They’re not out to just take advantage of you or just take your money by doing whatever work you recommend either. The technicians check and make sure that’s what’s needed to be fixed. We were traveling cross country and had some transmission problems and they fit us into their schedule immediately as well as correctly diagnosing the problem and getting us all we needed including an extra conditioner I requested. The service was amazing! I was welcomed and invited to sit in the waiting room which was nicely appointed with comfortable seating, television and complimentary beverages, snacks and free WiFi and recharging. I was most impressed by the free inspection of lights, brakes and suspension with pictures on the app of my vehicle and measurements of brake disc thickness and tire wear. And the free tire rotation was nice. I’ll definitely go back for routine maintenance. They spent almost an hour on my car, and for what I paid I thought this was an amazing value. You should definitely go there. I’m a fan of supporting local business. And these guys deserve it!

I thought my a/c compressor was seized & brought it to MAC before a road trip. Not only did they fix it in time, but they saved me $330 off the original quote when they figured out what the actual problem was. I will bring ALL my vehicles to MAC in the future! Full synthetic oil change that included complete inspection of my vehicle. First, when the appt was made he entered into computer one time but told me a different time with both being on same date. When I came in 2 hours later than they expected me they still honored it without any problem and apologized for the confusion when they realized what had happened. The place is spotless. Very friendly. Comfortable waiting room. You dont hear or smell the garage at all. Now, heres the even better parts. They give you your receipt when you pay showing that they did the inspection and tell you about your fluids and such and what your bill came to. If there was a life or death emergency with you driving the car Im sure they wouldve told you right then. I was fine. You get a text message sent to you to click a link. This was great.. it graded your cars health and showed was is considered fine, moderate, or requires immediate attention in red. Those in red usually have pics to back up their claims. I know they offer financing to help with repairs but I havent had time to talk with them about it yet and I really need to because Im very pleased with them and Id love for them to follow through with my car.

My car broke down on Rt 90, and it got towed here. What a lucky break! Everyone I talked with was patient and helpful. The service was fast and reasonably priced. The communication was prompt (thanks, Katie!). They even picked me up from the train station when my car was done. Oh, and they washed my car!

I scheduled an appointment to have my car looked at for repair. I informed them over the phone that I was having issues with my power steering, wheel was tough to turn. And heard a creaking noise while turning. After arrival I was asked to sit in the waiting room, 25-30 minutes later, the receptionist enters the waiting room to tell me it’s going to be an additional charge, ($75 or $150 I believe) and possibly another 1- 2 hours to fully diagnose the issue because it needs more in depth testing. Due to the time it would take, they could give me a ride home if I didn’t have time to wait there.I have been an insurance Agent for 12 years and deal very closely with repair shops due to claims, so I am aware of sales tactics certain places use. Frustrated, I politely said I had to be somewhere and I’d let them know.On my way out I passed another repair shop and randomly stopped in. Had a diagnosis within 20 minutes. Needed my power steering pump and a wheel bearing replaced. Left my vehicle same day, paid for the repair. My car is now as good as new.I understand you may believe a person is more likely to choose your facility for repairs after they have sunk so much time into their car being at your shop and have already invested a “diagnosis” fee for your “free diagnostics”. But some people, such as myself who is a single mother of 3 who works full time, and has to go through a big ordeal to make time for life’s many inconveniences, (such as auto repairs) does not have time to participate in lengthy sales strategies. Possibly it may have actually taken you almost 2 1/2 hours to determine the creaking noise was a bad wheel bearing and the difficulty to turn my wheel was a leak in the power steering pump, but I’m not sure what that says about your ability to make mechanical vehicle repairs.The facility and waiting room was clean, and I can’t comment on the quality of their repairs, but the process of getting to the repair is not worth finding out in my opinion.

I was traveling through Indiana when my van lost power and needed a new alternator. AAA referred me to Midwest Auto Care whose staff was very kind and efficient getting us back on the road within a couple of hours. If I lived in the area, they would be my go to for auto maintenance and repair!

Midwest Auto is amazing! They are informative, professional, educated in their craft, nice, affordable, accommodating, they are the only mechanic that I have ever seen that offers credit and/or no credit check financing. Midwest is the only place I will ever take my vehicles again.

Had a check engine light on. The code was for the thermostat. They quoted me a price. And that was the price that they charge me. They replaced it and no more check engine light. When I picked up my vehicle they had put a little goodie bag in the vehicle with a handmade 🦃 on it. Really cute and thoughtful. They also left a paper in the vehicle about their 24 month membership club that gives you discounts and oil changes. Ended up taking my vehicle back because the washer fluid line broke. I tried to rig it to work but the line was frail and just broke again. They checked it out. Called me and told me what needed to be done and the part had to come directly from the dealership. When it came in they replaced it and called as soon as it was done. I joined the club and they applied a discount to my bill that day and I got a free oil change. Then they told me with the club it works for both my vehicles. Will definitely stick with them. They are nice, friendly and professional.

Brought my car in early on Friday to get a windshield wiper fixed that had either come loose or broken the linkage and didnt hear anything back from them until Monday (Fortunately I had taken a four day weekend just in case, was hoping to get more things taken care of on it, writing this while getting an oil change) when I got called confirming it had simply become detached and it would be the initial quoted price which was fair. No one inside the small indoor customer service center was wearing masks (for future review reference, yes this is still during the part of the pandemic when its extremely unlikely the middle-aged employees were fully vaccinated) so thats inherently costing at least a star right there.My low score primarily comes from the fact that somehow in the process of correcting this issue with the wiper they somehow seem to have killed my CD player; I was given my car back with the CD ejected and now it refuses to take any disks. This could be extraordinary coincidence but unfortunately I cant really leave it there any longer until I can arrange for more time off work and to be honest it feels very sketchy that I coincidentally have something else unrelated to my initial issue that they could fix all of a sudden after only $80 of repairs.I fully expect theyll offer many platitudes encouraging me to come in and get it taken care of, no worries, rental vehicles and so on and so forth, they seem very focused on getting good reviews, but for now, I just dont have the time or the spoons to deal with all that. (Im definitely not using their pick up service if none of them are wearing masks.) Maybe once I can get it resolved, Id bump it up to three or four, but this is where it is for now.Edit; Duke of Oil fixed the CD player problem for free while I was getting the oil change after I got it back from them, so hey, no chance for them to fix it. I was of course contacted on a couple fronts with the predicted platitudes, but Im still not revising it higher than this, because seriously what is wrong with you, take health and safety precautions seriously, its a pandemic.

I am travelling across country and picked up a nail in my tire. My AAA app showed them as the closest AAA approved shop nearby. They checked all 4 tires, found the problem one, but didnt have my tire in stock. They could have it the next morning, but knowing I was traveling they referred me to someone who could get it done today. Not only that, they did everything for free-- completely complimentary. They are truly customer focused and very service oriented. I was so appreciative and surprised--I was ready to pay them for their time. And when I get in my car . . . A complimentary bottle of water with a thank you note. A class act!

I was visiting Indiana and my starter went out. Luckily I had a ride to and from the shop, but they had a shuttle service if I needed. They fixed my starter within 24hrs and communicated throughout the process. They even gave a free tire air fill for my ride. The Halloween goodie bag was a nice touch as well.

I went there as a new customer for an oil changed and tire rotation. Its a big garage with plenty of parking. The lobby and wait area was super clean and accommodating for me and my 5 year old. Amazing deal for oil change, which includes fabulous customer service, a very detailed inspection, and tire rotation. We havent used them for other services yet, but will definitely continue to go there for oil changes with the great extras that are included. The waiting room is comfortable and inviting as well.

Our experience overall was very courteous and professional. We were kept up to date every step of the way, and there were never any surprise charges. This was very important, especially with a transmission / 4wd issue.Due to the nature of the issue, we had to leave our car with them for a few days but we were provided with a free loaner car which took a huge weight off of our shoulders. Midwest auto has been repairing my vehicles for years going back to the Merrillville shop and I have never had an issue. They have done excellent work with a reasonable price from rebuilding a transfer case to oil changes and even trouble shooting certain other mechanical issues. They even offer a courtesy vehicle for major repairs or drop off if you dont want to wait. Customer service (communication, friendliness, clean) is very important to everyone. I found Midwest while doing a Google search. I was in desperate need of an oil change, and after two weeks, I still could not get an appointment at my regular place (which I absolutely love, and thought no one could match their service). Needless to say, I called Midwest, and not only were they able to fit me in, but their customer service was absolutely impeccable.I received an oil change and tire rotation. The initial price was higher than I usually pay, but Midwest offers coupons, and because I am frugal, I checked into that before calling. The coupon I mentioned was applied to my service without hesitation. There were several amenities that were offered during my visit that made me feel comfortable during my wait time, and they even offer shuttle service if someone has to run an errand during the service time. There was a full diagnostic test, and explanation of each point of the inspection, with no pressure to purchase additional services. If I could recommend any improvement for the business, it would be to add extended service hours on at least one business day.From the moment I arrived, Katie remembered my name from our phone conversation and greeted me immediately when I walked in the door. She was very thorough in welcoming me to the business, and explaining several offers that Midwest provides for their customers. When my service was complete, the payment process was smooth, and there was a surprise note of thanks left in the car with a cute treat, along with coupons.I felt at ease by bringing my vehicle to Midwest. I went in yesterday for the first time because of my check engine light coming on. My first impression of the waiting room was amazing. Leather seating with TV and snacks and phone chargers! After finding I would need some work done on my car, the crew helped to get me financing to pay for it painlessly. I also received a free ride home while they worked on it! This service is unbelievable. Once we figured my car would need to be left overnight, I was offered a FREE loaner to take to work. This loaner was a brand new car. You guys, this review gets better... not only did they diagnose my car and text me the results including pictures, they fixed everything perfectly and explained all repairs in detail. The cherry on top.... they brought my car to my job when it was finished to switch with the loaner! This place is top notch and I wont be taking my vehicle anywhere else ever again. Every time I call or arrive Katy or Amy are so pleasant. The technicians always keep you informed about what’s going on with your vehicle. They send you inspection updates via text and they are so informative. I love coming there and this is literally the only shop I’ve brought my Jeep to and became the only shop I’d take my Trailblazer to. I just started my own transportation company and they are about to receive even more business from me.

I originally ended up at Midwest Auto due to a coupon received by mail. All personnel is very friendly and informative. They are very good at keeping you informed. I also appreciated the loaner I received during one service. This time I came for an oil change since I had purchased a loyalty package. There were a few more items that came up, which I accepted. I appreciate that they keep you posted on recommendations and items that are needed, and that they express the urgency related to each item. The staff makes a point of knowing you personally.

The people at this repair shop from the front counter to the technicians and including the owners are outstanding, honest, and very sincere. I have serviced my vehicles at this facility many times. They have helped me out of some jams and repaired only what was necessary when it mattered most to me. They are very thorough and take the time to explain the benefits of doing everything they suggest and potential consequences if you don’t. They will also let you know if you can put anything off until a later date. Other repair shops scare you into spending your hard-earned cash. This repair shop will never do that to you. They offer shuttle cars as well as a free loaner if available. They will also pick up and deliver from your home or business. In addition, they have now started a car club which more than pays for itself. I know I will be purchasing one. Trust is a very difficult thing to find - you don’t have to look any further.

Quality service on your vehicle and incredible customer satisfaction. All staff and techs provide excellent service. Free loaners are unheard of in todays market, but they will provide a free loaner. After a horrible experience the dealership where I purchased my car, I brought it to Troy over at Midwest Auto Care & Transmission in Lake Station. They loaned me a FREE rental, while they examined my vehicle, and they found things that the dealer totally missed that needed repair. Troy is AMAZING at explaining the problems and attempting to save cost. If youre not from the area, but can you vehicle to them, its worth the drive. The staff is superbly knowledgably and extremely fair. Katie is the BOMB, efficient, fast, and extremely professional. Friendliness and compassion should be their tag line. My car is now running great and I would take it back to them again and again.

Terry and all of the staff make me feel comfortable with every dollar that I spend with them and I plan to spend many more as long as I need automobile services in the area. I seriously have traveled to other states (I drive a lot) and I always seem to come back to Midwest due to their hardworking, diligent, and confident workers operating on my car. I always feel as if my car is done the correctly each time they perform any services on it.

2nd time going here and using Snap! to pay my bill. Katy has once again made it so easy! Hit a pothole on 294 and they replaced my blown strut and tie rod, got an alignment and fixed my rim. Was quick and extremely courteous. like wow, service like this is kinda rare in NWI. Plus let me know what else needs to get replaced when money is right. All in all, Midwest is wonderful and Katy was a huge help with Snap.

After the local dealership had my car in for a recall, it wouldnt start after driving it 1.5 miles home, (I had always had it serviced at the dealership). They were not helpful and wanted me to have it towed to them and they would schedule a time to look at it.So I called Midwest because i needed my car and they were listed in my car care plan, they came and got my car, diagnosed the problem, explained IN DETAIL what the issue was and fixed it in a reasonable amount of time. They even offered me a loaner vehicle!! They were constantly in contact with me regarding what was happening. I now only take my car to to Midwest for servicing. Highly recommend!!

Brought my van in for some repairs and Troy was amazing to talk with. After the complimentary inspection he called to tell me the bad news, the repairs were much worse than I thought. Troy broke everything down for me from each part to what caused the issue to cost. I was so happy to find out they offer complimentary loaner vehicles!! Made my life MUCH easier. The service there was great and fast. And I love the way that the work that needed to be done was explain to me. The staff there was super friendly as well.

I had the transmission on my Dodge Grand Caravan recently replaces. They quoted me a price that was $2000 cheaper than the dealers. The free loaner car for the 5 days while the van was at the shop (which was a huge cost saver in itself) was a reason in itself was a reason they got my business. The 100,000 mile warranty or three year guarantee was got my business. As long as I don’t have to ever use that warranty, as long as their work holds up for the 100,000 miles I will be happy with their service. The staff were extremely polite and professional people. I do recommend them for any major transmission replacement.

The job appears to have been completed in a very workmanlike manner. The service personnel are friendly and attentive. And the shuttle service is a real benefit for those who dont have time to wait for the repairs to be completed. One thing I would note is that when I got home and reviewed the invoice I noticed that I had been charged more for the tuneup then what was quoted on the phone. But, that could be because they thought my VW was a four cylinder as opposed to a five cylinder. Also, the inspection report appears to be very comprehensive.

The only place I’ll go to now on! Quick, fast and easy! Also they’re totally up front with you, they don’t yet to rip you off like other places. Recommend highly!

I have experienced great service at Midwest Auto & Transmission.The staff are very friendly and informative.Bill always takes the time to offer a thorough explanation of what needs to be done.Their courtesy shuttle has been very helpful also.If I had to give a complaint it would be that I have found tools on more than one occasion left in my vehicles .Fortunately, I only lives minutes away, but it does take up time.Overall, I think their service is great.

The only place I will take my car. Ive been to a few places, some well-liked and some, not so much. This is the ONLY place I have been treated fairly, honestly with a fair price, and as an intelligent human being. Something hard to come by if youre a woman ( dont believe me? ask your wife!). If I have transportation issues, they are johnny-on-the-spot to take me where I need to be and back. I get full reports each time so there arent any unwanted surprises. I had a great experience with Midwest Auto care. They are really professional and kind. They did all the diagnostic for free. They gave me a free loaner car while they worked in mine. My husband and I felt like we could trust them, which is so Important. The customer service was just the best. There are not many places that made me feel the way I felt after dealing with them. I was very satisfied with my experience! The staff is very kind and extremely helpful. The free shuttle service they provide helps out so much. They were able to get me in right away and they got the work completed in a timely manner and I was able to get my vehicle back the same day! I definately recommend them!

If you are looking for someone to take care of your auto/truck repair needs, look no further. They are honest, friendly and this is the cleanest repair shop I have ever seen! Honestly, it looks as if you could eat off the floor and the mechanics are just as neat and clean.If you wish, you can watch them working on your vehicle through the window. They also have a shuttle service that will take you home AND pick you up when your vehicle is done. However, I choose to relax in the waiting room with a book and enjoy the complimentary water or coffee.They are always having special deals and giveaways and if you refer a friend, you are rewarded with a complimentary oil change and/or money off your next service.
