Literally the best Mexican place in the world. Best tacos ever and best pastries ever. I just wished I knew how to speak Spanish so I could fit in more but I love the feel of the place

I have two tips for you; one: get an order of 4-5 Mexican style barbacoa tacos - you will be absolutely stuffed wishing you could taste just ONE more, and two: if you don’t speak Spanish, being patient and polite will go a long way. This restaurant is operated by hardworking predominantly Spanish-speaking families. They’ll serve you some of the best food you’ll ever eat on American soil and provide you with a small dose of authentic Mexican culture. Please enjoy!P.S. Mega Mercado is one of my favorite restaurants in Lakeland. The food is always on point and the portions are on the edge of extreme. Their chips are pretty much the best around.If I can give you any advice, it would be to not go hungry. If you arrive hungry, you’ll be reaching hangry status before you get your food. It’s a super busy place and it’s very much organized chaos. I’ve come to expect this so it doesn’t bother me. The end result makes it all worth it so definitely give Mega Mercado a try!

Came here due to the reviews stating how delicious the food was. And it is! The food here is amazing, but it is not worth the 1-2 hours you will wait for it.The waiters will actively ignore you. It took 30 minutes after we were seated for anyone to even ask if we wanted drinks/order. When we finally ordered, it took another 40 minutes to get the very first dish. After the first dish arrived it took another 15 minutes to get the other two. The waiter also forgot one of the sides. During the entire time, no one checked on us. They actively engaged with other tables and ignored us. Definitely only come here if you have a few hours to kill.

Ive had tacos from so many places and this place takes 1st place hands down. Plenty of other dishes to choose from as well. Very authentic.

It is worth the wait, dont go if you are in a hurry. Chipps and salsa are included with your order(fabulous). Good place to practice your Spanish.

I was on the hunt for the BEST tacos in Lakeland and was led to this place by several people. Let me just say, I’ve been here THREE days in a row and I feel like each time the food tastes even better!!! I’m amazed at the quality and the level of service here. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for authentic SUPER DELICIOUS tacos or anything for that matter, this is definitely the place you want to come to! They have a plethora of Mexican candies and treats, also some of the BEST Mexican paletas EVERRRR!!

Went for lunch for the first time. They were busy, but the service was good. Tacos were very good with a lot of meat in each one.

The food is absolutely delicious. I have been going to another Mexican restaurant for my whole life and I’m sad to say this place is incredibly better tasting. However the service and customer service is horrendous. I’ve went here 3/4 times and every single time they are rude, we never get what we want. It’s ridiculous. I have continued going just because the food is that good. I really really hope they get their act together because I cannot stand being treated poorly at a place I’m PAYING to eat.

Food was good. Authentic Mexican cuisine. Decor is pretty rustic, but adds to the experience of eating at the real deal place. If the menu was in Spanish, you might think you were eating in Ciudad Juarez. Chips and salsa look like theyre made in the back of the house, and hot sauces on the table are excellent. Burritos and quesadillas are huge. Waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. Ill be back for sure!

It should not take over 20 min to take someone’s order!!!!!!!! You take there order in 5 min. Having people wait and wait waist time! Some people walk in already knowing what they want. Waiting 20 min to order the food then having to wait another 20 to 30 min to have the food done is just to much time sitting around doing nothing. I understand service is busy sometimes. But this has been happening ever since they got new owners. And that’s not good for business.

If you enjoy authentic Mexican food as much as I do you will absolutely love Mega Mercado. Nestled inside the the grocery store; this family owned and operated restaurant, serves up huge portions, with friendly service, and low prices. Here you can find real Mexican food, ice cold Mexican sodas, cerveza, and delicious tres leches. Also if they have them, (they sell out daily) dont leave here without ordering tamales.

Wow. We had a pick up order of a chimichanga, a chorizo taco, an american taco, and a kids quesadilla meal. It was FANTASTIC. Portions are very generous..Prices were super competitive..Chorizo was on point. Order was 100% right. Im writing with a full stomach and a smile on my face. I cant to try other options on the menu :) keep up the good work guys!

Great food! Service was very slow, though. We were there for 1.5 hours. The Enchiladas Rojas was very good.

Waited a hour and half for fajitas and my old ladys tacos. But then after asked why so long they was in a hurry because they still hadnt cooked it and my vegetables wasnt cooked and tasted real plain. Salsa and cheese was great. Sure thought it was going to be alot better.

Walked out after sitting, waiting for service, for the better part of, oh, 20 minutes! To be 100% FAIR, they were crowded & the food looked yummy BUT the Hispanic folks entering WELL AFTER we did were served & we werent. OH well.I would say Dine At Your Own Risk

I called in my order at 12:50 PM on may 31, I was told 35 minute wait, I arrived at 1:35 to the store I paid and was told my order was now being prepared, mind you I do not speak Spanish I feel like if you are an American at this store they will skip you and provide the other Spanish speaking customers their food first, I did not receive my food until almost 2:50 after multiple times I was asking was my food ready and they would just look at me and start screaming in Spanish, and they knew I did not speak Spanish, multiple customers came in and out without ordering ahead and got their food before me. Please stop discriminating against non speaking Spanish customers.

Was seated in a reasonable time, but from there it was all downhill. Waitress after Waitress just walked past and ignored our pleads for assistance for over 10 minutes. Finally one acknowledged our request and said she would be right back. After 5 minutes she came back and we told her we were ready to order (15 minutes is long enough to determine what you want) and she said AGAIN I will be right back. Of course she never came back and all the other Waitresses kept saying not my table. I hate to say it, but really feel we were discrimated against because we did not fit in. Everyone else was served in a timely manner.

This place is sooo good my wife got steak quesadilla just took a bite and said the best shes ever had. Also got Chile relleno, chicken flaunts, El pastor tacos and carniyas tacos. My daughter got a cheese quesadilla not in picture and loves it. I tried my wifes quesadilla and the steak is awesome super tender and flavorful

The food options & cooks here are AMAZING. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Lakeland, although yes the wait times for TO-GO’s can be LONG. Always call ahead & save yourself from waiting around. As far as dining in, it’s a hit or miss, service can be VERY fast or slow depending on how busy. Since I eat alone a lot I don’t mind the wait if chose to sit down, I’m usually just desperate to eat the good food so I deal!! But if you want a nice dinner out maybe try going when traffic is slow so you can get a good service which their servers are capable of giving when not over sat. Weekends VERY busy. Hopefully they hire more servers soon or figure out something out so everyone gets the best experience & wants to come back.

Best chips and salsa we have had yet in Lakeland. Freshly prepared authentic cuisine. Corn tacos and taco salad - very good. Price is within reason. Friendly staff and quick service. Pair with authentic beer and enjoy! Live music on Sunday was an unexpected treat.

55 minutes to get our food! I had to call out to the waitresses to get even one refill. Our food was mediocre and our appetizer came out 10 minutes after our entre. The only redeeming factor is that the market is pretty cool.

Use to love this place but not anymore because for the last year Ive been ordering from them over the phone or going inside they always get my order or just give me what they want lately Ive been ordering beef tostada but they keep giving me pork and I dont eat pork so Im done with this place and I have been going there for 7 years but not any more

Ordered via UberEats at 10:40AM. My driver was there at 12:20 and my order still hadn’t been handed over to the delivery driver. Absolute inefficiency. And the food is good—but definitely not worth it.

Met a friend here, first time, but my friend goes here frequently, so, thinking ok, must be good!She was seated quickly! She pre-ordered for me, so when I arrived, my tea was already there! I dont drink out of cups at restaurants, so I needed a straw! It took like 10 minutes to get a straw!Food came out! It was hot! It was very good!So, that was a plus!Ut oh, I need a refill, found our waitress, placed a request for a tea and a cup of ice for my friend!Another 10 minutes for a drink? Wow! This is not good!Were done eating! Im full! Now, we need a to go box? Another 10 minutes goes by while were waiting for a container! Wow!Ok, the food is great but get everything you need in the beginning or you will be waiting, waiting, waiting!So, me personally, even though the food is good, Im not a very patient person to be waiting for refills etcSo, Im not sure why? If their system needs to be tweaked? Put a drink station closer? Or were they short handed? But my friend said, its like that everytime she goes? Not for me, sorry, but love the food!

Best Mexican food in the area!

Great food with good price. Wait is a little long but they cook your food fresh every time and for everyone so wait come with it.And some food you can get quickly like rice and beans and pounds of meat. And service don’t have nothing to do with be white (mr. cole).It depend what you order, this place is a restaurant not a fast good joint.Been ordering here for years.

Restaurant was SO BUSY at noon on Sunday, but the tamales are worth the 50 minute wait for take out. Next time Ill call ahead, also avoid the weekends.

It took almost an hour to get our food. We seen people that came in after us get served first. Maybe because we were white and not Hispanic. The food was good though.

This place can not keep up with orders. You call to place an order, they tell you 45 mins, you take your time to get there, when you get there the food is not ready and they make you wait at least an other 30 mins to make your food. Poor customer service..

Used to love coming here. Food used to be really good but the wait times and the to go service are beyond terrible. Made an order through the phone and they told me 20min. I arrived, shopped around and ended up having to wait in line to get my food that was NOT ready nearly 40 minutes after I placed the order. Beyond ridiculous. Never again. Save your time.

Went for lunch and have enough leftover for dinner. The staff and music with the amazing food is the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We had steak and chicken chimichangas and barbacoa burrito and barbacoa tacos! The price is spot on the beans and rice as the sides amazing. I couldnt even eat half of my chimichanga. Will be back next weekend 🙂 going to get the awesome fajitas we seen a different table ordered. Best authentic Mexican ever.

Horrible Services! Order food they said 25mins went in 30mins they hadn’t even started the order I assume maybe to make sure it was picked up for so i made the payment walked around and 30mins after no food yet the young man didn’t even bother to let me know what is going on he just kept looking up and down on his phone.Notice him wearing his mask on his chin no one wears hair nets and they go from touching their cell phones to the food of plates. This new owners are the worst I do not know how they are still running the restaurant so many fails not clean and very crowed store unorganized I think the owner should get more organized with his staff he seems to only hire teenagers (not a bad thing).

I would never come here to order food again. I had food from this place several times in the past and every time it seems like the service gets worst. I came here at 7:00 ordered my food to go and at 8:30 my food still wasnt ready. When I asked how much longer I was told there are still 5 orders ahead of mine.WHAT!!! This was absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. This will be the last time I order from here.

Food is amazing, prices are reasonable, most of the wait staff are attentive. All in all the experience is great minus a few hiccups when certain servers decide to skip people and not take orders based on who came in first. There needs to be a better seating system that way this doesnt happen. Other than that, love the food. The dulce de leche is a must have.

Our 1st trip and will be our last! Waited by the door with nobody in front of us for 10 minutes to be told just a few minutes from 2 different waitresses. Waited another 10 and still not seated while half of the seats were empty. Walked out and spent my money elsewhere.

Horrible customer service I was standing inside waiting to order for over 15 minutes no assistance what so ever no even a I’ll be with you... so I called while I was standing there and was able to place a order over the phone so I walked over to the lady who answer and placed my order in person she said 15-20 minutes long story short I got food 45 minutes later and I watched two lady’s walk in after my initial 20mins were already up and we got our food at the same time...

It was better when the other owners ran it. I waited over an hour for my food recently. When I go by myself I get good and quick service but when I bring any white people with me, it always takes super long and the service is bad.
