I am very glad I chose Front Range Lumber for sourcing materials for my home remodel. From the lumber for framing to the sheet rock and many things in between I have been pleased with everyone at this company. The delivery drivers are courteous. The sales reps are knowledgeable. And the prices at Front Range Lumber are very competitive.I am pleased to be a customer!
Awesome company to work with. Had the best selection of cedar for our backyard project. They took the time to walk me through the yard and educate me on what I would need for my project. Delivery was prompt and professional. If youre looking for quality lumber, stop searching through the twisted section of the big box store and come here.
Been going to Front Range Lumber since the mid-90s. Its really nice just to have people help you right away with what you need. I fix a lot of different interior and exterior house repairs and its nice to go to one place and get the lumber and hardware I need.
The team was very helpful despite how busy they were. Ryan helped me all the way through my purchasing process and was very patient with me as well. Delivery was timely and also helpful as they dropped in my alley and helped me move the materials into my garage so I didnt have to do it myself. Prices were also good!
This is a quick review to endorse Front Range Lumber and particularly Rick R. for his friendly and professional service. I have purchased cedar posts and boards from this group multiple times and have never been disappointed!! It is a well run lumber yard.
This is a family run business. I worked with John the owner who started in the lumber business in 1955. The knowledge of products that he has is amazing. There is a small town atmosphere in the business and they will call their customers by their first name. Step back in time and visit Front Range Lumber and feel with customer service is supposed to be.
I prefer to give my business to a local shop, rather than a big box store. Friendly employees and good customer service. Peggy is especially great to work with! FRL sells a wide range of building and home emprovement products.
I highly recommend Front Range Lumber. I have been shopping there since the 1970s, before the store became Front Range Lumber. Their quality of lumber exceeds that of the big box stores. Their customer service is outstanding. Staff knowledge is exceptional. Always friendly.
I usually rent a truck and go to Austins Hardwood, but that $50 delivery option that Front Range Lumber offers looked enticing. I needed a few sheets of baltic birch plywood, so I drove over to FRLC and was immediately met distain that I would want them to deliver such a small order. Nothing on the website says anything about order size. I understand that a company might have a delivery policy, but dont omit that on your website and try to up-sell me on lumber I dont need in order to qualify for delivery.I noped right one out of there, rented a truck, and went to Austins, which by the way is awesome.
Front Range Lumber is one of the best lumber company, if you go there ask for Ryan Westover he will help you with everything that you need. He is very professional, friendly and helpful.
Just a quick comment on my first experience with FRL. From my initial contact with Peggy (order placement), discussion with John to follow-up (Peggy was off), to Renee (delivery) was OUTSTANDING !!! All 3 representatives of FRL were knowledgeable, friendly, and created a high level of reassurance. Based on my experience, all 3 individuals displayed a high level of passion for their company...a work place of choice. This passion is not learned, rather mirrors that of FRL leadership team. In todays environment, a rarity.Thank you all !!!
Great lumberyard. Great people working there.
5 stars all the way.. trustworthy, experienced, professional and all around amazing company.
I’m a first time deck builder and John and Michael were so helpful! They gave me some needed insight on what materials to work with and how to best execute my plan. I was able to get all the supplies for my frame, joists and decking in one visit. I highly recommend their customer service and am looking forward to going back when I need supplies for future projects.
Great, family-run, old school lumber yard. This is not a big box home center, this is a place where you can drive your pickup in to the lumber racks for loading and get help from knowledgeable pros about specialty items. Weve built several houses with their materials and I even recommend their delivery drivers!
Great family run business. The lumber they sell is far superior to anything you will get from the big box stores.
We have a small project and had excellent service on selecting the right wood from Peggy. Then we were also able to talk with Andy, who is very knowledgeable on how to best finish it. Our simple mantle will look outstanding with this mahogany wood as they took the time to offer so much help. Thank you both so much.
Great customer service as I was looking for a specific type of wood. They called and followed up, and I purchased the perfect stuff for my project!!
Thanks for your help guy on motorcycle accident
My sister and I arrived at 12:30pm and were met with annoyed looks. We we’re confused and double checked that they closed at 1. They said “well yea, the yard closes at 12:30 but they can help you at the counter”. We wanted to inquire about some pricing and information about some materials so it wouldn’t take long. The guy at the counter was dismissive and condescending. Told us to google a railing company and that “even (WE) could do it”. The guy behind him was barely more “helpful” stating that trex is super expensive currently and we should just wait until spring. Never asked what the project was, what the budget was, nor asked us any questions at all.I prefer supporting smaller local companies, but now we are on our way to Lowe’s or Home Depot to hopefully be met with better customer service and less gender bias.Be better.
The young lady that helped was more than accommodating in helping select the best looking pieces of blue pine lumber and made sure the purple heart I selected was cut to size. My choice to continue to do business at Front Range is their selection and family owned service.
If youre looking for straight boards and post, this is the place to buy them. Very Helpful and Knowledgable staff!
Went in to pick up some wood for a home project, and everyone was super friendly and helpful! We were helped with what we needed, in and out quickly and efficiently. Even a great recommendation on fasteners to use. Highly recommend!!
Mike was extremely helpful and assisted us on a major project. Great selection at reasonable prices. It’s worth the drive across town for us.
I had a really hard time finding the lumber I was looking for but the guys at front range lumber were super helpful and friendly. Michael helped me check out and was particularly helpful. I will definitely come back here!
My advice is to not shop here. They dont have a resonable return policy, the front area is a mess, they charge too much for delivery, they are in a bad location, and they are completely unreasonable with their customers. The guy at the front desk told me that they are still in business because they dont accept returns, and they refused some perfectly good lumber that was left over from a job. I was hoping that shopping at a local lumber company was going to be better than the big box stores. . I was wrong.
We go to Front Range Lumber every week or every other week and they are amazing to work with. We send all of our contractors and clients for projects of all sizes here too. They have a great selection of wood options and can source pretty much anything we need at a great price. They also deliver which is amazing for our larger projects.
Ive been to Front Range multiple times, and always received the best customer service. Kent took the time to go above and beyond in assisting me with custom quotes. Highly recommended!
Beware of the company’s return policy for lumber!! The receipt says that “All returns MAY be charged a return fee”. Apparently that return fee is anywhere between 15 - 30% of your bill!!! Which is not posted anywhere! Outrageous considering I helped with unloading the lumber! Will not be doing business here again.
Not helpful, generally rude.
Good service, they were friendly and answered all of my questions.
Very nice people! They have everything you could want including exotic woods.
I wanted to buy local and heard they were good, so I went in on a Saturday to purchase ~$100 worth of lumber for a small home project. The planks wouldnt fit in my car, so I asked if they would cut them. They declined, stating they were too busy, but would make a single, simultaneous cut down the middle of all boards, which would have ruined the project. I asked if they would do a single cut per board if I marked it out, which they declined. Asked if they would help if I came back on a weekday, again declined. No other solution was offered from them - completely unhelpful. I understand them being busy on a weekend, but if its not worth their time to help me find a solution, then its not worth me coming back for a bigger (or any) sized project.
Poorly run, with a distinct lack of customer service. Dont waste your time with this company, they are simply an over priced middle man. Save yourself a headache and just get what you need from Lowes or Home Depot. Anything this outfit offers, so does the pro desk at the big brand stores, and at least the big brand stores care about your hard earned dollars your about to spend.
Micheal from front range lumber is the definition of excellent customer service, I really appreciate him and his help in guiding me to the right materials I need . Outstanding service !
Great lumber yard. One of the last real lumber yards with old school quality, far superior to the 2 big box jokes. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and makes themselves available to help you, another big difference from the box jokes. They also have a huge assortment of parts, supplies, and tools. Stop in and check them out.
Needed #2 Pine 1x6 12 ft boards in a short timeline and they had plenty in stock. Very nice staff and was in and out very quick!
Home depot recommend Front Range Lumber Co. Im glad they they did. Good place for some exotics.
Great service, plenty of staff on hand to help get in and out with minimal time. Glad to find a good lumberyard in this part of town. Prices are great, worth checking with before going to a big box store.
Good service, friendly people
Great people. They all are very knowledgeable with all products. Sure beats the box stores.
I have been going to Front Ranger Lumber for Years, cause their product is much better than Lowes and Homedepot, the bad experience I have is that I alway have to fight with the employees to get quality lumber that I pay for, whether it be a small or big quantity of lumber . . . I understand that you can not just let your customers make a rampage of the lumber yard as well, but I just dont want the lumber that is been hand picked thru that no one wants and try to pawn them off on me for premium prices . . . It seems that every time I stand my ground with the employees, they want to refund my money! This should not be the case, especially when someone drives a distance . . . Also I dont have a problem working with some bad wood either . . . not sure if my voice makes a difference or not, it seems that the employees are taught this professionalism ...
Great price and selection of exotic wood
People there are very personable. Great place. Lumber is great no worries
Counter help also loads you. We like this system. Yard guys always have other things to do. Customers first!
Extremely rude staff. Overpriced lumber.
Best place in Denver to get lumber or outdoor materials and more! Amazing owners and staff!!!
Exceptional lumber and a great delivery experience. Purchased lumber for a pergola with integrated seating, all cedar. Lumber was exceptional, straight and clean, no scrap. The delivery driver went out of his way to get the lumber into the garage. The process to get a quote and get the items delivered was the easy. Highly recommend Front Range Lumber
Had what I needed at a reasonable price. Staff was great.
This place seems like a great place from the outside eye, but is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Half the employees are drunk. The gentleman with a beard and corn hat out back that loaded me stank of booze and was very rude about getting me my wood because he had to pull it down. Manager was just as rude. I counted 6-7 OSHA violations in the hour I was there. I was a certified yard inspector for 20 years. The safety at this place Id give 0 out of 10. It seemed to be better a year ago where a younger guy stayed and loaded me for an extra 20 minutes on a Saturday after close named Corey. I dont like coming here because it is dangerous to watch.
They are awesome to work with! Incredibly professional, reliable, honest and with great products. Thanks Kent and Team FRLC!
I just walked in and headed to the counter to ask about fence lumber and gate ptions. Kent greeted me then proceeded to explain my options, then rang up my selections and carried everthing out to my truck. Great company and family owned and operated!
It irks me that this company has the best exterior wood selection on this side of the metro. There are a couple of folks here that are okay, but the customer service here is generally horrible. I can summarize a typical interaction with my latest experience:I called to ask if they had X type of wood, they sayYes, we carry that. Its $2 per linear foot for an 8ft board. I then drive 25min out of my way to purchase said wood. And when I ask for a bunch of 8ft boards they tell me, we dont carry 8ft boards, I was just giving you pricing. We only carry 14ft boards at $4 per linear foot.
I went here for some hardwood to build a table and everyone was very helpful and they’ve got a great selection there unlike the big boxes. The prices are very competitive and really appreciated how knowledgeable she was! I will be back as they have everything I needed
Great company and great employees. High quality products and quick service. Everything you can ask for! Highly recommend.
Front Range saved the day for my project. They stepped up when big box store failed to deliver due to a broken delivery truck. Front Range took my order over the phone, made sure the lumber they pulled was to spec, and managed to deliver same day. I have had great experiences with Front Range before and they went above and beyond this time.
I stopped in today to get some wood because Im in college for fine wood working. I was willing to spend good money here and hopefully be able to recommend this place to other fellow students in my class. However being a FEMALE is not welcome here. I got NO assistance at all. Nobody ever came to ask if I needed help. There were 2 men who came in after I had walked in and they instantly got assisted and they were more than willing to help the MEN. I beyond upset at this customer service and will make sure I never give your company a recommendation. You should be ashamed of yourselves. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE.
Great customer service, very helpful, even though I am a small time customer. Competitive pricing and quality materials.I am not sure about the recent bad reviews, I guess people can have a bad day - that can go both ways, customer or employee.Check them out and avoid the Home Depot hassle.
I have used Front Range Lumber in the past and have had mixed results. I recently called for pricing on James Hardi siding and was told they would check prices and call me back. I called again several working days later and spoke to another rep. and explained that I was waiting for a response from inquiry last week. He said he would check pricing and get back to me. As I did not get a call back, I called 3 days later and spoke to Michael, OH I DIDNT CALL YOU BACK duh, no or I wouldnt be calling again. I waited several minutes on hold and he informs me that the siding is just shy of $20 per piece. Pricing at Lowes and Home Depot is 9.98 per piece. Lets do the math, we know that Depot and Lowes is not selling at cost so Front Range is gouging at a 100% over the big box stores plus the markup. In closing, either the staff at Front Range is inept or they are raking people over the coals on materials, either way, NO THANK YOU, FRONT RANGE LUMBER, you have lost a customer for life. After reading the response from the owner it is now 0 stars, I did in fact point out the price disparity to Michael, his exact response, after I told him that both Home Depot and Lowes had this product at 1/2 the price, was YEAH i am more than happy to forward the recording and the other 2 recordings of your staff stating they would call me back with pricing. Nice try!
Quality service and mostly friendly
Great service, great selection, especially cedar which is getting tough to find elsewhere around town. Always helpful and willing to share their knowledge. High quality 7/8 cedar fence pickets. We use them frequently and have never been disappointed.
Told me over the phone one price for pickets that I was very specific about over the phone then when I got there turned into a completely different price wasted about an hour of my.
I needed to fix my patio, I was quoted $850 to $1000 at other places, with all kinds of recommended add on products. Came here and talked to Cathy, not only did she take care of me and answer all my questions, she simplified the plan and got me set up with everything I need for less than $300. Amazing knowledge and service.I will buy every stick of lumber and accessories here from now on. Thank you Front Range Lumber.
Only place I found that has 6x6x12 treated in stock. And the people were very nice and helpful, and they made sure I had nice straight lumberl. I will definitely be recommend them for lumber needs.
Unlike the big box stores, this is a REAL lumber and hardware store. This place is like a step back in time for me to days of personal service and knowledgeable staff. They actually know what they are selling and what they are talking about! They have better quality products, often at a better price, and stuff that is just not carried at the big box stores. Instead of tons of crap they generally have what one needs to get a project done start to finish.
If you are looking in the Denver area for a quality lumber company, you cannot go wrong with Front Range Lumber. They far exceed the quality and price of any lumber outlet that I have found. If they do not have it in stock, they can get it. I was amazed at the quality and competitive pricing that they offer. There delivery charge is low considering what others charge too.
The first time I was here it was a great experience, terrific quality lumber and terrific service. Every time since, its gotten worse. Today, the older gentleman who helped me tried to tell me that I couldnt reject any of the boards they offered me. He said that this wasnt Home Depot and I couldnt pick through their pile. I tried to explain that I didnt want to pick through the pile, but I couldnt use boards with excessive knots or damage on the edges. He told me I could take what they offered or he could give me my money back. I persisted, and ultimately he did allow me to reject a couple of boards, but Ive been in and out of lumberyards for 20+ years and Ive never had anyone pull this type of nonsense. Ive spent a lot of money here over the years, and Ive recommended it to a lot of other folks too, but neither of those things will be happening again.
Consistently the highest quality dimensional lumber in the Denver metro area. It you are a contractor, look nowhere else for your dimensionals. A great small business that is a pleasure to support
The service and people are great. The wood is good quality and reasonably priced. Just make sure you understand the return policy when you leave.
Great selection, helpful staff, decent pricing. Whats not to like? I would go back.
We had the pleasure of working with Cathy to select some lumber for an accent wall. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We will definitely use Front Range Lumber for any and all lumber needs from now on.
Extremely rude and unhelpful there is one guy heavy set guy with balding hair, just out right nasty, its sad that we still shop there on a daily basis
Cool selections of woods for nearly any project, with hardware options too. Best selection of cedar lumber than weve found in the Denver area. Delivery is available as well.
They have good products at a reasonable price. If you decide to do business with them be sure to get any promises in writing and pay by credit card so you can have a way to dispute any overcharges or denied refunds. You have other good options like Jordans building Supply and Alpine Lumber
Awesome company with great service and delivery for 25.00! Regardless if its an interior or exterior project, you should start here rather then getting bad information and materials elsewhere only to find out your going to end up there to get your project completed. Grade A quality lumber, decking and doors. Oh by the way the sales team rocks too!!!
Very patient and friendly staff. Purchased some specialty woods for a project a few weeks ago and the staff went above and beyond to travel the store and hand select pieces of wood that I wanted. Honestly one of the best customer service experiences I️ have had in Denver!
Nice people, reasonable prices.
Ive used FRLC for all my big outdoor-lumber needing project for the last few years. They are always helpful and easily the most knowledgeable folks Ive talked to in local lumber shop.Ive built a few hundred linear feet of cedar fence and a 200-ish square foot deck. Ive always had them deliver rather than pick, and have had very very few grade-out issues. Their prices have been similar to what I saw at the big Orange and Blue stores, but the quality of the product is FAR FAR better. Now that Ive nearly got my shop space worked out Im looking forward to visiting them for supplies for my furniture and other projects.
Bought 180 cedar pickets for my fence - only one was slightly bent. The quality of their products is superb. The pickets were slightly more expensive than the ones at Home Depot, but the quality was so much better. Plus, the pickets were 7/8 thick, not 5/8.Some people lamented about the attitude - yes, they will not court you like salesmen in other retails, but the service is professional and they helped me load the lumber. Also, they got back to me the next day after I emailed them a question about some of their products and pricing, with waaay more information that I was asking for.
The first time I called this company to place an order for delivery, I was helped by someone friendly and courteous — and my order was delivered the same day by a female driver, which I took as a good sign that this is a progressive company. Today I called about a large potential order, and I was immediately condescended to by some apparently misogynistic male employee who thinks a woman can’t possibly know anything about wood. “What does shiplap mean to you?” Give me a break! I’ve run a table saw and installed more hardwood flooring than many men and still have all my fingers (unlike my former shop teacher). Plus he refused to provide a photo of the product about which I was calling, acting as if I would freak out if it wasn’t exactly as depicted. (I just wanted an approximate idea, no big deal.) I then called a competitor who, without hesitation, beat the FRLC price and quickly texted me a photo of the product in question. FRLC needs to climb out of the 1950s and modernize its technical — and social — business practices. I guess they only want your money if you’re a dude!UPDATE: Even their response to this review is condescending. The definition of shiplap is not open to interpretation, it’s not about “what it means to you” because it’s an actual milling style. Thanks for proving my original point though, nice job! I chose wisely in going with a competing company that doesn’t treat customers like morons — and doesn’t employ misogynists.
Friendly and willing to go out of their way to help!
I like to support local business. I went in to FRONT RANGE LUMBER and was offended by the guy at the counter! He was rude and impatient with me through the counter sale and in the lot picking out my lumber! I will think twice before I return there!
We had a nice experience!! Cathy was incredibly kind and thoughtful. Nice wood at good prices.
Solid staff, a go to place for lumber
Service was unsatisfactory, reluctant to accept return of lumber to warped to use. Had another bad experience last year when they delivered a new door damaged. I will never spend a minute or a dollar there again. They make the big box lumber cos look good.
Quality of lumber is vastly superior to big box stores for the same price. Alan helped me and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Hey these guys are great, I came in on Saturday and worked with a guy named david about fortress railing and he was able to help me make sense of my project and they had all but one part in stock (They had it by monday and I didnt need that part right away)ps I got most of it done over the weekend and my deck looks great!
Super helpful and great product
Great, really helpful staff, and a nice selection of some pretty exotic (and gorgeous) hardwood boards.
Good hardware store. Locally owned and operated. Great place for advice
Though this lumber company carries a wide variety of Woods don’t expect good customer service. I called to get a particular kind of hard wood in a specific length and was told they had it. Upon arrival (120 mile drive) I was told that the wood I specifically needed was on the bottom of the stack of 10 or 15 boards and would not be available. After telling them that I needed that specific length they begrudgingly complied with my request. My entire experience with this company was me being talked down to by a jerk of an employee. That being said if you can go somewhere else please do so... I was not able to because they were the only place I could get what I needed within a 250mile drive one way.
Prices are a bit higher than big box, but the quality of wood products are superior.
Ive been here twice and both times Ive received rude customer service. If you dont know exactly what you want theyll help, but all the while make it seem like they have better things to do. Dont expect any support.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff and alot better lumber than Home Depot.
Over priced....2$ more a pocket than Rocky Mountain.
Incredibly helpful staff, and very affordable prices. Ill be returning again soon for future projects.
After being severely disappointed by BORG (Home Depot) on numerous occasions I decided to look for a better place to buy lumber. This is it.These guys stock real, high quality lumber products and sheet goods. They are also a wealth of information, unlike the inexperienced idiots that BORG hires. The prices are appropriate for the quality. When you consider the waste you end up with from BORG products youll probably save money by shopping here. The lumber is straighter with tighter grain than BORGs and the sheet goods are a much higher quality too. This is especially obvious when cutting them as the junk from BORG has tear-outs even with a good blade and Front Ranges plywood gets a nice clean edge.
