I would absolutely positively recommend you take your animals or meat somewhere else besides American West Pack. I had brought in an elk (mid-Nov) to be processed. After a couple weeks without hearing a word, I called and was told that it would be done by the end of that week. After not hearing anything when that week was up, I tried calling back (a few times) just for the phone number to go to a voicemail that was full unable to leave messages. My wife called from her phone and low and behold the guy answered, just to be told the same thing “the elk should be done by the end of the week”. That week came and went without a callback. So we both tried calling again, but this time with no answer at all. My wife was fed up and just decided to stop in to this business to see what the hold up was. When she arrived, she was told it was done. The only thing was it took them nearly 30 minutes to grab my meat. They stated that they had to grab it from a different freezer on the premises (my only hope is that this meat is actually mine and was well taken care). My wife then asked where the elk tag was to identify the meat when she noticed it had not been packaged with the processed animal. She was told by the guy running AWP, that it was optional to keep tags with wild game meat. He said the only thing that mattered was, as long as the animal was tagged when it came in for processing (this guy needs to read up on the FWP regulations regarding wild game if he plans on processing them). Luckily, after shuffling through a ziplock bag full of (mine and other hunters) tags, he was able to produce it. Please save yourself the headache that I went through. (Fish and Game is aware of the scenario)
