We were having fuel issues towards the end of a 2000 mile trip with horses and trailers. It was getting late, we were tired and couldnt get the old part off. After calling 5 different shops Cold Smoke came to our rescue. The technician was great, knowledgeable and had us back on the road in about 10 minutes. His 10 minutes saved us hours and I am forever grateful for his help and kindness.

Way way way overpriced for what they did. Acted like a dealership with looking for many things to fix (said my battery was bad but it is just fine from my observation), and I had to call them back to take off several unnecessary fixes. Even after the unnecessary fixes were taken off, the 9.5 hours of labor didnt change. I was in a bind, a bit desperate in Livingston with every place having a 2 week wait, and was tired of biking to work in the winter. They were nice enough folks and all. When I went to pick it was apparent that someone was very recently smoking (cigarettes) in the main office and the entire interaction of me paying was done in a cloud of smoke. I know repairs can be expensive, but I felt fleeced after leaving with my truck. I am sure there would be cheaper options somewhere. The check engine light came on shortly after the repairs, and I was very annoyed. The code cleared when I checked it, but it just seemed crazy after spending $1600 for an oil pump repair. Anyway, wont be going back to them for sure. My truck is running fine as of now, but I just didnt love the experience and still question the overall cost for what they completed. Maybe that is just what people pay these days, but I am more in the mode of affordable car repair and will keep looking.

This place is amazing!!. We were traveling through from Texas and had a issue with leaking coolant. Turned out we had a cracked hose that was leaking fluid everywhere. Everyone here was so kind and helpful. They were able to get us taken care of and back on the road in under an hour! By far the best customer service and experience Ive ever received at an auto repair shop!

I had an electrical issue the morning of a road trip. Cold Smoke immediately got me in and had multiple people figuring out a strange issue with my truck. Very happy with the staff they were thuro with all the work, the estimate was presented in a timely manner, the work was completed when they said it would be they replaced the Duramax diesel engine in my 2015 Chevy 3500 it was an expensive repair but Elise was very knowledgeable on the components needed to achieve what I needed and the techs we always informative and helpful I am from Missouri so they help with transportation to and from the airport in Bozeman which was very appreciated I give them a 5 star plus rating

I broke down on the interstate going to Billings from Bozeman. Literally the nicest and most understanding mechanic I’ve been to (I know nothing about cars.) They got me in right away and made sure I was safe. Very professional and the best customer service. Plus, as a college student I’m not made of money and the shop rate was very affordable.

Had electrical truck problems while visiting in Yellowstone. They were the only auto shop that would take a look at our problem and diagnose it. Extremely competent came right out to our truck diagnosed our problem immediately and we were back on the road! They were also extremely nice! Highly recommend.

My wife has used this shop before and service seemed great. Brought my truck in for an oil change. An hour or so later they called my wife and told her it was also due for transmission flush. When I came to pickup the truck I had a $450 bill for service.My truck has a drain plug, if they were going to do more than just change the fluid then they should have said.Well be taking our vehicles somewhere else from now on. If youre fine paying 300/hr for labor then this shop is what youre looking for.

This is one of the most honest and caring autos shops I have come across in awhile. I recently bought a truck from a used car dealer and the list of problem began. The fuel pump went out two days after I got it home and with an up coming hunting trip I was unable to wait for the part that was backordered from Ford for 3 weeks. Coldsmoke searched tirelessly and worked with another shop to get that part and get me back on the road within 2 days. The next day my U-Joint was going out, even with every lift full in the shop they brought the truck in, jack it up and changed the u-joint within and hour. The most recent problem on this cursed F-250 is a broken valve spring, they took the extra time to research a way that would solve the problem without breaking the bank.I cant say enough about the staff at this shop. They are professional, understanding and have an overall care for the customer thats hard to find these days. If I could rate them 10 stars I would!

Excellent customer service, honest, and reasonable! I was visiting from out of state and had my check engine light come on. They were very honest with me in what immediately need to be done and other things to keep an eye on but didn’t need to be repaired right away. I appreciate that because so many places try to make more money saying lots of things need to be repaired right away when usually they don’t!

I am on the road and was having trouble with my recently purchased Ford Excursion. Matt got me in the same day. Drew helped me get it repaired quickly. I found them very honest and Drew was extremely knowledgeable. He is a diesel enthusiast with a lot of experience. They even helped me save money by explaining that my battery was under warranty and they didnt have my brand. It saved me around $150 by informing me.

My review is just on helpfulness and kindness. While driving into Yellowstone National Park I had a collision with a bull elk. I was there on vacation hundreds of miles away from home and feeling worried about my Jeep and whether or not it was safe to try to drive. Matt graciously listened and managed to fit me into a very busy schedule. He came out personally to evaluate the damage and then immediately set about securing my rig so I could safely get home. I am sincerely grateful for this company and their dedication to safety and service.

Id like to thank Matt and his excellent team at Cold Smoke Auto. While at Yellowstone, our Volkswagen Westie experienced a transmission linkage problem. We were able to limp into Livingston and our repair was immediately diagnosed. Parts were shipped overnight and we were back on our way to Canada within 24 hours! These guys did a lot of work on my old vehicle. Most of the time, I didnt really know exactly what it needed when I took it in, just that there was a problem, so Id ask the mechanic to look it over and give me their opinion on what work needed to be done. And I never felt like they were telling me to get stuff fixed that didnt need it or creating problems just so theyd get a bigger payday. For the work they did, I always felt like the work was quality, and I always felt like the prices were fair. If my new vehicle ever needed work, Id take it here.

We were traveling through town and our car broke down. They were very nice and were able to fix the car right away. Great service.

The starter fell of my truck, which was obviously inconvenient. I called Cold Smoke and was told I could come right away. They ordered a new starter which arrived at same time as me and the tow truck. Less than hour later I was on my way.

Traveling from out of town, several competing shops could help me diagnose my trouble. These guys dropped what they were doing, pulled my vehicle in, found my problem, and had me back on the road in a short amount of time.

Overall, pretty bad. While they did do what needed to be done, doing diagnostics and replacing the broken part, they did not however call us like we clearly said we wanted to have done. So instead of knowing what they were going to do, and knowing how much it would cost, my buddies and I were left in the dark for a whole hour. When they finally did call us, the price was much more than it shouldve been anyway. Dont go here if youre desperate, they will gouge.

These guys do excellent work, and they stand behind the work that they do. I give them my highest recommendation.
