Wonderful place with extremely helpful staff. The LTC class with Russell was fantastic. He provided helpful examples and made the legal wording understandable. I am so glad I took this class. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.Prior to taking the class, we went to the gun range to try various guns to determine which one we should buy. William was so helpful explaining all the various feature on several guns and allowed us to get a feel for what we liked and didnt like about various guns. He listened and provided recommendations. He also explained why we should take the LTC class. We signed up that day.This is a great place. Everyone is extremely helpful, both staff and other shooters. We will continue using this gun range.

Most folks would expect a day out on the green speaking of business opportunities for more business and take downs or mergers, however I see a day out at my local Lone Star Gun Range as the best way to break in a new client or new business associate,..... Would be nice but was understaffed on our visit. We went on A very busy Saturday afternoon and the guy behind the counter mentioned that they were understaffed that day. We went to the rifle range and the people around us were not following the safety rules. Several people were holding their weapons during the ceasefire I had to ask them to put them down. At least two people showed up and never checked in at the front desk, shot for a couple minutes and then quickly left. Not sure if you can do that if you are a member or not idk. One guy had an automatic weapon without a cover for the shell casings and they were flying all over the place hitting people in the head, we asked him to move to another table and he wouldnt. Someone refused to do a cease fire and just continued to shoot for several minutes after everyone else was ready ready go and just made everyone uncomfortable. We looked around for an employee and because they were understaffed no one could come over and help regulate all the craziness. We didnt have a good time and ended up just being stressed out the whole time and left. Obviously this bad experience was completely due to the other customers and not the business itself but honestly an employee walking around checking in would have seriously helped out. I dont feel like you can trust people to not be stupid esp with guns involved. If they are understaffed they need to just limit the number of people that can shoot and not let it get so out of hand and crazy.

I’ve been here twice and both times was an awesome experience! The employees are extremely nice and welcoming, they gave great feedback on the pros and cons on certain guns which was very helpful! Prices are great and I got a tad bit hot and overwhelmed and one of the employees brought me out a water and Powerade because he wanted to make sure I was good!!!!!! I will be back and will continue to tell people about this place!!! 💜

Excellent range and very friendly and helpful staff. As a former CA resident, I was pleased to be able to do rapid fire! Only one suggestion: some improvements to accessibility would be nice, especially to handle muddy terrain when it’s rainy. Nonetheless the staff was very accommodating in dealing with the obstacles. Hope the rest of the steel targets come back soon!

Very professional team making sure all visitors are following rules upon entry and at the individual ranges. The rules in place provided safety to range while allowing ability to shoot as much as we wanted.

Our bachelor party had a great time here. They worked in rental guns with our guns and accommodated a wide range of shooters- from a former 10th Mountain officer to compete novices. The facilities were good and prices were reasonable. Exactly what we were looking for.

We had an excellent time celebrating my husbands birthday on Saturday. The staff were all courteous and knowledgeable. The space easily accommodated our big group with plenty of space for others to shoot without any of us getting in the others way. We will definitely be coming back!

First time at the range today. Staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful. Good selection of targets and rental guns Pretty easy check-in process... Read their range rules, a few verbal responses, sign in, pay the range fee and get out shooting. If you cant handle reading their rules for your safety and the safety of others around you, then you should never touch a gun. Thanks Ill be back again I need more practice.

Not too impressed. Rented 9mil pistol and asked to buy 50 rounds 9mil ammo. Was given 380 and after my gun jammed several times oy then we figured out the issue. I prefer reds.

I just utterly love this place all around. In austin you have 2 choices. Indoor Reds, or cliche the range . Screw both of those places. Come here for everything. Shooting, classes(ask for Russell), prices are downright the best. And just downright Texas through and through. First responders, veterans, or first timers. This place is for literally everyone. Last time I saw them teaching a British family. You guys are awesome! See yall tomorrow!

This place is awesome!! Everyone was very professional, courteous, and the facility is clean. Being new to this and wanting to learn gun safety/how to shoot, William was great at walking me through it and is extremely knowledgeable. Follow the rules, be respectful of each other and youll have a great time here!

Went there September 05 and had a wonderful time with my wife and sister. My first time since only visiting there.,the staff were great and gave us that big Texas hospitality. Thank you for letting us enjoy your facility. I will be coming back on my next trip there.

Great staff and awesome facilities!! We were visiting from Canada, and I was thoroughly impressed with the level of safety and professionalism displayed by the entire staff. Everyone who came through the door was given the same safety briefing regardless of past experience. If you rented one of the many firearms available, you were also given a quick run down on how to operate and manipulate the firearm safely. I have spent a lot of time on military and civilian ranges over the last 25 years, and can say with the utmost confidence that this one of the best ranges I have ever visited.

Alex was the most pleasant person there by far. She was very friendly and entertaining while giving instructions to operation of multiple firearms

The staff here dont judge people like me that are new to firearms and learning safety and accuracy techniques. the range itself is well made and hand built by the late owner and his best friend. there are .22 rimfire plinker range with steel targets. a shotgun and pigeon range, 100 yard rifle range and a pistol range. I also noticed archery range.the prices are fair. targets 1 buck. bullets are same as everywhere, hard to find and expensive (not their fault).the staff will answer any questions about safety and functions. Russell is a very smart and over qualified instructor. William is friendly and socialable and has great advice to new shooters like me.i will continue to visit this range for the foreseeable future.

The Owner and Range Safety Officer are very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Everyone is very helpful! I have been going to this range for the past couple of months, weekly and it has been a pleasant learning experience. Prior to this I had NO experience with handling firearms. I recently purchased a Taurus 605 and was needing a good place to squeeze off a hundred rounds or so. After reviewing some of the local ranges, I decided on Lone Star gun range. Im so glad I did. The guys behind the counter were super friendly, answered any questions I had and made me feel welcome. Signing in was easy, they have a variety of targets and ammo in case you need any, and if you forget your hearing/eye protection, they have loaners available. I will DEFINITELY be going back!! Because really, whats more fun than shooting bullets out of guns??? Nothing...

My father and I both love to shoot, and Lone star is our choice for our once a week or two week meetings. The staff are awesome and all of the other shooters have been down to earth and knowledgeable about firearms safety. I would hands down recommend this range to any shooter at any skill level.

Great experience here. Came for a bachelor party and had William help us out. He was super helpful as we were all beginners or amateurs. Really awesome options to shoot, super friendly, and great support for our time there. Would highly recommend coming if you are looking for a place to try new things. Some of the places in Austin were never going to be the experience that this place is.

It was a fantastic experience! Rex and William helped me and my buddy on R&R out. Neither of us have shot much, and didn’t know what to expect. There was a wide selection of firearms to choose from, and the staff were completely educated and thorough in making sure that the person handling the firearm understood everything needed. On the range it was professional, clean, and most importantly, friendly. Fellow shooters were friendly enough to chat about whatever particular firearm or grouping that brought interest. All in all amazing trip and I’m definitely going again in the future!

Very casual place to go shoot. Outdoor so wear the right shoes if its rained in the past week. One restroom that has been surprisingly clean every time. 1 dollar targets unless you want to bring your own. Cant beat 100 dollars a year. That is fantastic. Call your own ceasefires. Better paved parking lot (especially the pull in off of the dirt road) and a bit longer rifle range say 2-300 yards would have scored the extra star. Dont expect to have a clean vehicle afterwards the last mile or so is dusty un paved road.

Im from Brazil and as tourists we had a great time at this shooting range. My wife, my son and I shot several times and were very well attended by friendly staff. Great experience. We intend to return.

I have been out to this wonderful outdoor range several times. They are the friendliest people around. Always willing to help. Even for those first timers, dont be afraid to ask.Rules are common sense and very easy to follow.

The longest they have its 100 yards . The staff they are great and very respectful . $15 dollars get u to shoot the hole day 👍👍.

Fantastic outdoor range, modestly priced ammo and firearm rental, and extremely helpful staff. This was perhaps my 3rd time on a range in the last 10 years, but the staff here made me feel comfortable enough with the range and firearms, that Ill be making this a regular haunt of mine.

Decided to check this place out after a bad experience at The Range in Austin. This place is better by every metric. Nicer people, more practice options, no time limits, and the list goes on. I will happily drive the extra 30 minutes every time to support this business.

Prior to my trip to the Austin area I was looking for a place to take a group of guys for an afternoon of shooting. The ranges in Austin didnt have the variety or kinds of weapons we wanted to shoot. Although this was about a 35 minute drive to get to, it was 100% worth it. The staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable. For the afternoon we also had a host with us (Rafael, who was fantastic). This was an extra fee, but we felt like it was extremely helpful, because our group had varying degrees of shooting experience and he was able to help with any questions or issues that arose during the visit. For example one firearm kept jamming, so he swapped it out for a different firearm at no added cost. The ranges themselves were also very nice, everything was clean and well kept. The prices were also very fair and affordable! A highlight of the trip was also being able to fire the Barrett 50 caliber rifle! Overall our group had a great time and I would recommend this to any other individual or group visiting the Austin area.

First time visiting Lone Star Gun Range and wasnt disappointed. Plenty of friendly staff on hand at check in so we didnt have to wait to get started. Got a thorough overview of the rules, which was great bc it helped me feel that all shooters knew the rules and how to stay safe. We brought our own guns, but next time were going to rent a few different ones to try them out. The range was busy but we didnt have a wait and were able to switch from one range to another very easily. Had a great time and really enjoyed the facility and the staff. Highly recommend you check it out next time you want to shoot!

Employees where helpful and informative on gun safety,range was quick to get use to,affordable ammo,I also like the option to test one of there firearms in there inventory! The prices and fees to shoot were outstanding! 15$ for the whole day cant beat that!

Great customer service. 4 guys there on 9-28-19 around noon Highly knowledgeable and Im a first time gun buyer and they helped me out a lot in finding out which one I really like and which 1 I would be comfortable shooting and i had plenty of questions. probably to the point where it might have gotten annoying at some point but they were still nice and helped me with everything I needed to learn for a first timer they Made it a very safe and fun learning experience

While I own property and do not need to shoot at this range. I find it is an excellent resource to take new shooters. I also recommend it to new shooters who want to try before they buy because of the exceptional rental program.The facility is rustic, but fully functional. A nice break from high tech or snobby facilities. Come enjoy the country shooting experience.

Started off with a good experience but ended poorly. I asked for a stapler during an employees cigarette break. He seemed bothered. told me I only had five minutes before “ last Mag.” It was half an hour before closing time. Never mind the fact that I had paid for the time. Overall still a good place but, some of the employees seem lazy.

Great staff and range! I shoot here regularly. Their prices are fair from range fees to rental fees. Read about each range on the website for details and the range rules. Everyone has been kind, respectful, and safe. The only downside is 100 yards is the longest distance for rifles and there are no plate targets, but that is understandable.

Went there for the first time. Range is nice, staff is friendly, and the price is right. We felt very safe while we were there. If you need to get some shooting practice in, this is the place you want to go.

I’ve been shooting here now for a number of years. It’s as good as it gets. Owners and staff are top of the line. If you shoot give it a try you won’t be sorry.

Excellent gun range. They have several different ranges. You can shoot pistols, carbines, long range rifles and even skeet. It’s a flat rate for all day shooting. They have great deals on rental guns. It is very common to see first time shooters and tourist from less-free countries stop by. They also have a .22 steel range for plinking, just make sure you don’t use anything bigger than .22 or it will demolish the little steel targets and they’ll be pretty upset. It’d be awesome if they had a pistol caliber steel target gallery, but people would probably blow them away with rifles. Saturday and Sunday are probably the most packed, but you can usually still find a spot. Go on a week day if you want a more serene, peaceful shooting experience. It’s just a good ole Texas outdoor shooting range in the country. Pair it with some bbq and you’ll have one of the best days Texas offers.

This is my go - to range. Max range is only 100 yards but stations are solid, target mounts are functional, supports rapid fire, and price is right. Staff is always very helpful. Today I was having trouble sighting in my new scope and Nick took the time to help me out, in 100 degree heat, no less! Not only did he help me sight the scope--he gave me a few shooting pointers that improved my accuracy significantly. Couldnt ask for more! (except a longer range, but thats a universal problem in Central Texas right now)

Great place, great people, and has got to be one of the safest shooting range that I have been to. I love that they make every new guest read some rules, sometimes you need a quick reminder.

Theres a section for rifles, pistols and I didnt see whats on the right side of me, but I love how its seperated and located outdoors. Not as scary and intimidating as an indoor range and for $18/day, thats a great deal! As a beginner shooter, coming out here and getting BBQ after sounds like a perfect Saturday well spent.

This place has horrible customer service. The staff act as though its an inconvenience for me to give them my cash. Worst of all is the way they openly speak about their customers. I didnt realize that the worlds greatest firearms operators of biblical proportions were born straight out of the ground from their facility. Ill never go there again

I’ve tried several ranges in my area when I moved to the Austin area, and this is the only place I’ve been using since 2012.The owner and staff are always great (unless you’re a knuckle head and a danger to others, then they’ll deal with the problem swiftly).The fee for the day is what you pay for 30 min at other places.I buy the annual package and that works out to average $2.50 / a day.Huge selection of weapons to rent if you’re a new shooter and trying to figure out what weapon works best for you.They continuously keep improving and upgrading the facility.If you’ve never been, make sure you give them a try.

A friend of mine brought me here for my birthday a few months back. The layout seemed a bit strange to me at first as I am accustomed to a different range in which I can drive right up to the shooting platform. It wasnt a big deal really as we werent going to be doing any bench rest shooting but didnt really like having to make multiple trips to the parking lot to switch out guns and equipment. The shotgun area is kind of a joke and one of the clay throwers didnt work, but we had fun anyways. The staff is mostly polite and the costs are fair (these days thats hard to beat), though some could be a bit intrusive about safety but thats not necessarily a bad thing. The other shooters were also polite and courteous. I liked that they rent out guns, and at a reasonable price no less. Being able to try before you buy offers a bit of peace of mind about purchases. The only think I didnt like was that they do not have a 200 yard rifle range, but really, not everyone has that much open land right?Ive been to many different ranges in Texas and while this may not be my favorite, it is definitely a great place to spend some time sending lead down field.

Best Gun Range in Austin Hands down for a beginner! Gun culture was something that was new to me and i was skeptical about. But after visiting here, my impression took a 180 degree turn. The staff is extremely helpful for a beginner. They teach how to handle each gun you pick and make sure you do la demo in front of them. We tried almost 7 guns on the same day. Clearly we were excited!Would recommend this gun range without a blink!

Great outdoor shooting range! There is plenty of stations with different target options and distance options as well. They even have a shotgun area to shoot clay discs. The staff was very welcoming but serious about safety, which is always a bonus when it comes to shooting ranges. Definitely recommend you stop by.

I was in Texas with my parents (Im 17) from the UK, I had previously been to a range in Las Vegas but this was a completely different feel, alot more responsibility on you, they were all very helpful and polite in showing me gun safety and how to operate safely and then let me get on with it, great value as well, I got plenty for the money, would highly recommend to anyone as there were experienced shooters there too

This range is by far my favorite in my area. The prices are great compared to the fancy indoor ranges that charge $25 per hour and have range officers breathing down your neck. The staff are awesome and friendly and Id recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I have been going here for about eight years and have noticed a slow, steady decline in customer service. Today was our final trip, we went to check in and they have a safety list you need to read beforehand. No worries, this is an important part of shooting sports. Whilst reading it you are supposed to say certain portions aloud, but the instructions were unclear. I asked for clarity on what the clerk needed me to recite. I was met with a smart ass quip and no actual answer. With that bit of unnecessary sarcasm, we gathered our things and left. I refuse to pay someone to insult me. This location has slowly gone from the best range in the Austin area to a truly negative experience. This is the first time I’ve ever left a range without ever taking a firearm out of a case and this is the final time I give Lone Star an opportunity to disappoint me.

Great and cheap experience. Very nice and professional staff. Love that you can rent a few guns and just head down to the range on your own, which is literally just outside the door (depends on what you shoot).Too bad they didnt sell patches though.. 😎

Friendly folks and and a good price for a shooting range. Changing the targets requires tromping through the mud. Installing a simple boardwalk or some way of changing the targets without standing in 2 inches of mud would be nice. Otherwise, a great shooting experience.

My wife and I took out LTC class there. I know a little about firearms. In the LTC course it was my wife first time firing a gun. The staff was very helpful and friendly towards my wife and I. Constantly asking questions the staff never got frustrated or annoyed about us. I recommend this place for first timers and even experienced gun owners. They have guns you can rent before you buy for yourself. Definitely Will be going back for more training. I want to give a huge shout to Russell for being a huge help on the firing line and in class room portion.

My daughter and I went to take there gun safety class and learned a lot it was her first time using a handgun. They were very patient with her, then we took an LTC class the next week. We had a great time and are going again soon. I give it 5 stars.

Excellent place to shoot. Check out rental fees if your interested in trying out a firearm. Would be five stars however it gets pretty muddy when it rains which can making shooting less enjoyable when you have to avoid a puddle.

I dont go here often but when I do its everything youre looking for in a shooting range. They also have a wide variety of pistols and rifles you can rent to shoot. Come on come all. You can save some money by bringing your own ammo, eye protection and hearing protection. Range fee is 10 or 15 bucks per person.
