Awesome selection. Awesome service. Prices a bit high but its Los Altos and they are local. But not open on Sundays? Isnt that one of Gods 10 commandments - hardware stores shall be open on all Sundays, every Sunday? They used to be open on Sundays before this Covid business and their remodel. Now I have to drive to Home Depot and deal with lackluster customer service - ugh! Henry, you have a great shop - why no Sundays?

Im always surprised how much they can pack into this little store. I can often find things in this store that arent available at the big box stores. And their prices are spot on, so you get the best of both worlds. Their staff is awesome and always asking if they can help. And they have answers, something the big box stores just cant offer.

The owner and the staff are very knowledgeable and always willing to help. Today I needed a metric bolt and nut and wasnt sure of the correct length. The owner sent me off with two lengths and only charged me for one. This is service above and beyond.No doubt that anytime I can buy what I need from LAH I will avoid the big box home improvement centers and buy local.

This neighborhood hardware store is top notch for excellent service and very helpful staff. I’ve been here many times and have never been disappointed. It’s not a massive superstore but they’ve always had what I might be looking for and often go the extra mile to help out as needed - like cutting a board for no charge or assisting with loading the truck. Five stars all the way.

The place is an excellent local hardware store. They are very friendly and right there near everything in downtown north Los Altos.The store is well stocked and carries a surprising number of skus.

This is what I love about Ace. The inventory was better than adequate for my DIY needs. The service is great. The staff doesnt try to avoid eye contact. Its a small space packed fo the gills in well organized shelves and peg board. If you are looking for that something for that project you acqulred you will likely kind help here.

Posted opening hours inaccurate. I arrived today at 3:45PM and was told that the store was closed, in a certainly very unfriendly and uncompromising manner. I have been a store customer for many years and always enjoyed shopping here. Perhaps you should do a training refresher for your team on how to interact with customers or post different opening hours, to avoid wasting your customers time.

Just wanted to give great feedback for this store, as I am in here a few times a week for parts and help with various small jobs. I manage a hotel and these guys have helped us fix every problem from plumbing to electrical with great enthusiasm. They have a ton of staff on site and a huge store of parts tools and products. Keep up the great work!

The best place around when you need things for any kind of household maintenance, cleaning, scrubbing, etc. Plus, it is a contractors heaven with tools, hammers, and other products that they use for jobs. But, most of all, you get the very best service and care from Henry, Sue, Emerson, Nina, Sam, Mike, Zach and all of the rest of the crew..who I dont know their names. Go on in there to a place youll be very happy that you did.

The staff here is always very helpful and knowledgeable. I use this store almost exclusively for buying tools and supplies for work (facilities manager) when I need to see it physically before buying or am in a pinch where I need it immediately. The have always been accommodating; including special ordering items and tools for me. Its awesome to be able to support a local store like this one and not have to resort to the big box stores.

The staff makes it amazing, but this tiny looking shop from the outside packs a lot in. Ive not had a problem finding what I needed and Ive been here a lot. Im always surprised with how they can have such a wide selection!It helps that they are so close to anyone around Los Altos, you dont have to go all the way to Cupertino or Sunnyvale to get what you need. If they werent here, I would probably be getting things from Amazon. Thank you folks for making it an awesome experience!

Very helpful staff and they allow you to sign out and borrow tools. I needed a crimp tool to install some guy wires for my TV antenna and they just let me borrow it for a few hours. Great place.

This is the worlds best hardware store, with the nicest, most helpful, knowledgeable and patient people working here ever. They always listen to what I need to accomplish and give me lots of great options, ideas or solutions. They never make me feel rushed, even when Im butchering an explanation of what my problems are. They also carry the greatest high quality products that last and are always highly recommended by other sources. I am so glad I live near this hardware store, but now having discovered it, honestly even if I moved 20 miles away, Id drive to come here instead of any other place.

Went their looking for an item, asked 3 staff who all stated talk to someone called Fax, Lax or Jax. Waited for 10mins but no help received.

Our favorite hardware store due to customer service and breath of high quality inventory. Prices may not always be lowest but over many years we have never a defective or poorly functioning item purchased there as has happened with purchases from other hardware stores. Easy in and out with dedicated parking.

This is a great tiny hardware store. Its packed to the ceiling, well organized and a very helpful staff. A good alternative to the warehouse stores if you want to get a few things without walking miles. Not too pricey, for Los Altos.

My favorite hardware store in the area. I skip the one in Mountain View and come here. The service and selection is about 5 times better. The staff is super friendly and knowledge. I host went in today and now they have chics for backyard chicken coops. Yard to keep them is an additional charge ;)

Los Altos Hardware is awesome! So convenient, just down the street from my house; one of those great stores that has everything you could ever need, and best of all - super friendly and helpful staff! Im not a great handyperson, and theyve helped me figure out how to fix numerous plumbing, electrical, etc. problems!

We normally do not post our opinions but we want to for Los Altos True Value Hardware. They are a wonderful local store and provide good old-fashion service. Those three are NOT seen much at all today so when a place is truly helpful, has good supplies, great hours and a pleasant staff, we want them to stay in business!!!! They seem to be busy at the times we have been there but we want to spread the word.Please shop at Los Altos True Value Hardware where the customer is treated with utmost respect and courtesy!!

Its a small store but they manage to carry just about everything you could need. And then on top of that you get top notch friendly, helpful customer service. If you ask for an item they dont just tell you oh its in the isle over there - theyll take you right to the item youre looking for - show you all the options they have. I love coming here.

This store should get 6 stars! I call it Magic Hardware. It is very rare not to be able to find what I need here. The staff is beyond great. They all are very helpful with advice and give great impromptu tutorials on how to use the products. This is what a small town business should be. The owner is extremely accommodating and highly appreciative of your patronage. I hope they never close. Bravo TrueValue Los Altos! They put the big box stores to shame!

I shop at all the major hardware/home-fixup places within 5 miles of here, and Im a regular visitor to this store. The strength of Los Altos True Value is its staff. They do a good job of maximizing the variety of stock in a limited space, and they generally know where everything is, to get you in and out quickly. Its a great place to go when you need some advice, or a few little parts to get something fixed so you can get back to your life.

Some of the very best customer care Ive ever had in a retail environment. The shop itself is small in comparison to the vastness of the Big Box Hardware Warehouses but they are smartly stocked and able to address most household hardware needs. I go in a handful of times every month and they have ever not carried something Ive needed. [Save for larger orders of lumber.]

They have so much inventory that I rarely need to look elsewhere, consistently helpful service over more than a dozen visits.Once came in with an issue with a malfunctioning toilet that I couldnt diagnose. Snapped a picture with my phone of the inner tank and from that alone they were able to determine that someone previously had installed an incorrect part. Was out the door with the correct item within minutes with issue resolved.
