I called Lora in desperation late one night and she was there at the crack of dawn the next morning. She was very patient as she dealt with me through my anger and tears. We are working on getting my supply up and seeing results. Loras low key style has helped me remain positive throughout this experience. I highly recommend Lora to anyone at any stage of breastfeeding. She was not the first LC I saw and she told me that happens a lot so get a second opinion and dont give up before you are ready to!
Lora was a lifesaver for me! She was so knowledgeable and gave me the confidence I needed to continue breastfeeding our daughter. Thank you, Lora!
Lora is very responsive and helpful, especially in the early days when you are seeking out the right advice for your specific child and her/his needs. She is great at getting back to you quickly in those times of great need!
Lora saved us from submitting our newborn to an invasive and completely unnecessary surgical procedure!!!!! She was a miracle. Breastfeeding seemed to be going fine, but my daughter was slow gaining so our doctor asked us to see an LC. I first saw another IBCLC (with an office not far from Lora) and she told me my baby was tongue tied, showed me a bunch of exercises I needed to do regularly, and recommended a tongue tie release and said cranio sacral therapy massages were ideal before and after the procedure. This first lactation consultants concern was so genuine, she had me convinced that everyone had missed some tongue and lip abnormality that needed to be fixed. We thought it would be a good idea to get a second opinion before taking a burning laser to our babys mouth so we called Lora. Thank goodness we did. First of all, Lora informed us that lactation consultants are not supposed to diagnose a tongue tie and she gave a us list of providers we could see for another opinion. We showed her the exercises we were instructed to do and while doing so she observed that our babys tongue looked and moved just fine. She spent an hour asking us questions and watching us feed and do tummy time. When she found out our baby was breech and didnt move much during my whole pregnancy she thought that could be a contributor and strongly suggested we may want to see a physical or occupational therapist before going down the road of tongue laser surgery and cranio massages (which would have started at $1000 and none of which was covered by insurance). We chose to see a pediatric physical therapist because our insurance covered it and we were able to get an appointment quickly (UCLA). Ends up our baby has torticollis which is basically a tight neck that needs some regular stretching. We went to PT once a week for six weeks and our therapist gave us a routine to do at home. Torticollis stretches are not easy to do, but it was much better than slicing open our babys tongue for NO REASON. SMH! Now my baby can get a full meal in one efficient feeding session instead of snacking on and off all day. And people, do tummy time. It really helps!
Lora was an invaluable help she saved my breastfeeding right when I about to lose my mind and give up. I had seen othe lactation consultants, some of which I found out later were not IBCLCs and had zero hands on training, and they had me pumping on rigid schedules and relatching and salving my breasts and herbs and all sorts of exhausting and expensive routines. My sister-in-law found Lora and paid for her to come see me because I had given up on breastfeeding help. Well, I have the best sister-in-law in the world because Lora walked in and within 30 mins had identified the most likely culprit—tongue tie! She helped with positions and a plan that helped me get by until I could see the ENT for diagnosis and treatment. We had the remade done last month and my baby is off bottles!!!! Finally!!! Well, now she has a bottle when I want her to, not because I have to. Do yourself a favor and call Lora. Don’t waste your time with doulas or any breastfeeding specialist that’s not an IBCLC.
