We ordered their version of a pepperoni pizza. It was smothered in pepperonis, at first you might think this was a good thing, au contraire mon freir, this was the greasiest pizza Ive ever seen.
First time there tonight! Highly impressed with their calamari, the BEST in Rockford I have ever tasted! The service was on point, our waitress was attentive and very helpful for our big group! We will be coming back for sure! Their room for a big group was very intimate, the table arrangement was perfect for all of us to see everyone! I love the real potato chips they have to munch on at the bar too while we were waiting for our room arrangement! Owner came in to check on us too which was kind of him! I’m going to order the pork chop next! See you guys next time!
I had shrimp tacos and they were amazing. The new decor and atmosphere is great. Definitely going back.
It is now Pomodoro. New owners who have remodeled (impressed). A terrific menu and service.
Ciao Bella has been remodeled and is now called The Pomodoro. We were there last night and the owners, staff, food, and atmosphere were all top notch. You have to come in and give it a try.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and an amazing staff!
Great family carryout special. Great meatballs and for a dollar more I recieved a bottle of wine. My new go to place for italian cuisine
Not open scared of Covid so sad amd naive
Great food. Great atmosphere. My go to place for Italian food. Also, just learned they have a baked wing business that looks amazing!
Okay food, bad atmosphere.
We hosted a post-memorial service dinner in honor of my brother at Ciao Bella. Scott and his wife were beyond the prefect hosts! The food, service, wine list and the room were perfect for our occasion. Thank you again, Ciao Bella for making us feel welcome and full!
The food was FABULOUS!!! My family and I had a great time there!! Our server Hailey was amazing! We loved the steak and they were cooked perfectly. The rest of the food was awesome! This is a great place for the family!
We had the baked cod tonight - awesome! Nice flaky, properly prepared, with a nice side of vegetables. The new owner is migrating newer items to the menu, and we look forward to those choices. Great wait staff - as always, good wine pours, and so fun to see the new owner.Restaurants today should be the modern day piazzas of sorts - meeting places, gathering spots, and comfortable places to enjoy a meal or drink! Ciao Bella has had that neighborhood vibe for years, and with a new energetic owner, that tradition remains.
I was there last night 10/4/19 the food was out of this world in a single word superb. In my opinion one of the best Italian restaurants in Rockford. Also, the service is excellent very helpful with navigating the menu I had spaghetti with creamy tomato sauce and by golly that sauce was out of this world. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Had a great lunch meeting here. Vegan options are limited but the salad was quite good and better quality than iceberg lettuce and half a grape tomato. Our server was the bartender because they were busier than staffed for. That was a plus for me. She was fun and quirky and took our service to the next level.
The waitress had 4 tables and seemed very busy when helping us, but the food was good and the service was fair.
I had dinner her twice this week. Excellent service. Super staff. Pastas, soups, salads were nice. Mussel appetizer was great. Deserts were excellent also.
First impressions faded quickly. Lovely looking restaurant, pleasant atmosphere. However, it took over five minutes to get anyones attention for a drink. Appetizer came after the entree. Baked cod was very good, Normally, this wouldnt matter, however it was date night when those details do matter.
Food was not done well noisy kitchen. Ordered vegan and got chicken. No comps for food itema after waiting to redo our order. Much better when this restaurant first opened. Wont be going back
Fantastic food, great service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. They use fresh, quality ingredients that really makes the food stand out from other Italian places. They even have fall specials right now, including a pumpkin spice creme brûlée which had the perfect consistency and flavor.
Wonderful place for lunch. Delicious food, especially the mushroom soup, and superb service. Lunch menu is excellent. Nice ambience also.
Terrible food. Nice atmosphere and good service. Good drink specials. Would not recommend on food alone.
Amazing comfortable atmosphere to relax have a drink made that satisfies complemented with a delicious menu. The service is attentive and friendly which brings a very welcoming experience for family and friends. We will definitely have more great times here!
Stopped in for lunch with my hubby and the service and food were great! I’m especially a fan of the Cream of Artichoke soup! Being that we were there for lunch we also were in out and a timely manner which is great.
We had a great experience here. Kind staff, good food. Also GET THERE while the pumpkin creme brûlée is on the menu for the season. It’s an absolute dream.
Amazing food coupled with a great staff.
I love this restaurant! I love their menu!
Unpretentious welcoming Italian restaurant with the feel of fine dining in a casual atmosphere. Very low key and romantic. The service was very attentive. Fresh well balanced meals; with fresh baked bread. This is a great spot to go with friends or on a date. Also a bar inside to grab a cocktail while you wait for the rest of the dinner party to arrive. Good times.
My wife and I visited Ciao Bella twice this week. Once for appetizers and drinks and again for dinner and drinks. Both times were great. Dan is the best bartender and, according to my wife, makes the best Cosmopolitan she has ever had. I can say he makes a great Martini, as well. The appetizers we had were terrific. For dinner my wife had the fried cod and I had a salmon dish and both were excellent and the portions were huge. The salad that came with dinner was excellent. Do not forget the Gelato for dessert-WOW. Our waiter was just attentive enough and all the food came out in a timely fashion. It is a little drive from Marengo, but well worth the effort. I cant wait to get back.
Brought a large group - last min.Staff was wonderfully accommodating!Darling Italian atmosphere w lots of character -The Food was delicious! The Shrimp risotto and chicken risotto were awesomeI had a flat iron steak enteee cooked perfectly med/rare and the mushroom sauce was fabulous!Looking forward to another visit soon!
Quiet Italian middle to upper class restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere. Dim lighting adds to the ambiance. Delicious food and great service. Must try for the Rockford area to enjoy a nice date night.
This was our second visit. The place looks great inside. Exactly as you would expect from a high end Italian restaurant. Our server was also very friendly. But the food failed again...... We both had soup. Cream of mushroom for her. It was basically broth with a few mushrooms that tasted like tin as if they at one point were canned. I had the cream of chicken noodle. It was very thick under seasoned and tasted mostly of flour. The carrots were mush as well as the chicken. Leading me to believe this was canned (or bagged) as well. She had shrimp alfredo for her main course. Her first bite was a beautiful piece of shrimp covered in sauce cheese and with noodles. Unfortunately for some strange reason. This restaurant served shrimp covered in sauce with the tail still on. After the soup and that bite she had lost her appetite. I ordered the chicken parm. It ended up being two paper thin pieces of chicken breaded and fried then stacked on top of each other. They were over cooked due to being so thin I assume. I love chicken parm so I finished about half before giving up. It also came with a side of spaghetti. Which was average at best. I guess at this price point in Rockford Id expect things like fresh pasta and in house sauce. We had a gift card with about $20 left on it that we will be giving away as we do not plan to give them a third try.
This is still my favorite restaurant in the whole Rockford area. Talia and her father treat everyone like family. ❤️ I love ordering the Chicken Picatta. The bread and olive oil and grated Parmesan is so good. The salad had blue cheese crumbles that were huge! With a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, the world is always a better place at Ciao Bella!! It deserves 10 stars!✨
Was told to sit anywhere by the bar tender. Sat at a booth and was passed by the waitress several times and didnt even get a glass of water, a Ill be right with you, nothing! And, there were only 2 maybe 3 other tables when we went. We just got up and went to Greenfire. Best decision ever
The frozen drinks are amazing. I highly recommend the hand mixed Grasshopper! Soooo good.
Ignore the naysayers leaving poor reviews. They don’t know what they’re talking about. Best chicken parm I’ve ever had.
Experience was HORRIBLE!!! Would NEVER recommend anyone to go here and have a meal! For starts, we ordered 2 separate seafood dishes and the seafood was BAD! Like really spoiled and they did not even apologize!! We asked for the meal to be refunded and they REFUSED! Which is absolutely ridiculous, the owner is rude and stated hey did not give refunds or remove meals! I was very upset and expressed this and was simply told that they hope we give them a chance I’m the future!!! NEVER AGAIN! Do not EAT HERE
Have eaten here many times when visiting Rockford. Never disappointed. Great Italian food, service and atmosphere. Just changed hands and the tradition continues.
You cant get better food then here. Great menu, great service, nice sized portions and a beautiful restaurant.
Service was excellent. I had the steak la nikko. It was flavorful, cooked exactly as I requested. I will definitely be back!
Read Sally Mae Bakers review, couldnt agree with her review of this restaurants food. She felt it had no FLAVOR, which is simply not something I would say about Ciao Bella. Perhaps since she is from Florida, maybe she chose the wrong Ciao Bella Ristorante, as I know there are several with the same name across the country. I have never had a bad meal, and have taken visiting family there many times, and all have absolutely loved it! Its fair to say this is my favorite restaurant, and have met several of my friends for a group dinner and drinks here, especially on Monday house wine night.
A bit pricey for pasta, but good overall, and good atmosphere.
The staff was very nice, and food was really good! Definitely will be going back!
Great food friendly people and good value for the money. Seems to be a newer place though, so expect some odd behavior if you ask for special services.
Great food. The owner Scott Frank was very nice.
Our favorite place for Italian food in town. Great waitstaff and Nick will stop by to make sure everything is just right. The food is a step above most other restaurants.
Received excellent food and charming and engaging service. Loved their tilapia this time, but everything they do is very good.
The salmon was delicious. Service was good, but tables are crowded together, even though many were empty...I felt a bit cramped. Small tables.. but good food.
Had a 28 dollar steak, it tasted like it was boiled in water. Zero flavor. I went under the premise that Marias old ovens were installed here. Maybe they were but it definitely didnt do anything for my strip steak. Maybe the other food is better?
A step up Italian place with better than average menu and execution, but heres why I go back. Every time I dine there the owner has never once failed to come to the table and ask us how we were enjoying our experience. That says it all.
As a former employee, I can say that that this restaurant has some very good food and good hospitality! Their food tastes very good and have recommended others to the eatery. I would recommend their Monday wine specials, if any of you are into good wine and would also recommend their Italian beef sandwich! Tell them Anthony sent ya!
Good food. Good service. Good value.Owners are involved on day to day operation.
Horrible. Food taste old took forever for the food to come out. Dirty floors, dirty tables. The owner Tallia is the wicked witch of Loves Park you should hear the way she speaks to her employees its borderline harassment Im surprised she has people even working there after I overheard her speaking to her staff. Also after we were done with the parmigiana cheese and bread the waitress put it back on a shelf and another waitress gave it to another table nasty they REUSE bread after its been on my table my whole meal we could have been sick! Call the health inspector and shut his place down gross. Stay away from this place!
Ate Saturday eve at Ciao for our special anniversary dinner. We both ordered a shrimp pasta dish with tomatoes and spinach. When it arrived you could not find the tomatoes, very little spinach and it was dry. Very little sauce and no flavor to the dish. We did inform the waitress and she said she would talk to the kitchen staff. Upon her return she informed us we would get $11 off the bill and a free dissert or drink of choice. I paid the bill and then informed the owner myself of the garbage that was served for $23 each. AND Yes I told Nick we would never be back again.
I would have to say the few times I have been there the food was great. Only had poor service once and for that reason dont know if Ill go back. We left a cash tip on the table and yet the waitress took it upon herself to take out extra money on the card. I didnt notice right away and when I did finally notice well I was on vacation so I just said the hell with going back and complaining. We left well above 25% which is what makes me so mad about it. Oh well Just keep an eye out if your using a debit or credit card.
Excellent Authentic Italian food. This place is a must try. My new fav.
First visit last night. Impressed!Everything from the crusty Italian bread to the tiramisu was very tasty. My steak was cooked to perfection, and my spaghetti was well seasoned, with the sauce coating the pasta well. Our waitress was wonderful, attentive but not hovering. Are the meals here inexpensive? No.Are the meals here quality food served in a calming, pleasant atmosphere by fine servers? Yes.(My only gripe....my portion of tiramisu should have been larger for the price.)
Food was good! Staff was friendly. Will definitely go there again.
Great experience
Alwsysa Excellant service with a smile. Wonderful food, upscale bar atmosphere while you wait for your table. Great martinis. Never a bad meal or drink.
Great, friendly staff.... Prices are reasonable and taste great.
I love this place. Great food, great service, and the owners are awesome
Great food. Great people. We had our wedding reception there in October 2016. It was prefect.
Good service. I ordered chicken marsala, grilled. The chicken itself was grilled perfectly, but needed much more than a couple of tablespoons of sauce
Attended an open house there sponsored by Heartland Hospice and Rosewood Care Center. Appetizers were excellent and wait staff was very helpful and friendly.
Wednesdays 3.00 glasses of wine. Great wine, ambience, snacks and service!! I love this place❤
Save your money and go to a Real Italian restaurant the food here is subpar and overpriced
Food was cold and over cook, which is more dangerous pair then Bonnie and Clyde when it comes to good food. Service was extremely slow, only got one glass of water so was dying of therst by the end of the hour and a half experience. Thought alcohol can fix that, but sadly the old fashion were not that great and you sobered up by the time the second round. Will not be coming back.
Participated at Taste of Italy at Venetian Club. Awesome people and excellent food! Thank you again for giving and serving!
New menu is excellent! Red Velvet cake is over the top!
The chicken picota is excellent, so much so I cant seem to try anything else!
Service was fine but food was below average. This is the 2nd time I have experienced below average food.
Great service. I recommend but dont get the steak - for the price it should not have been so chewy.
The food was subpar but the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and energetic. But ppl go for food so my suggestion would be get some authentic Italian cooks in the place and it would be 5 star.
The food is great, would be 5 stars if taste/quality was a bit more consistent.
Went only once and the food was great, the waiter was very nice, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. Will try again for sure.
The food is great, but the service sucks. There were 8 of us, and the waitress forgot my order. Slow taking the orders, slow on refills, and the waitress just disappears for long periods of time.
One of my favorites. LOVE their Ciao salad. Always good food & the service is very good.
Love the food, service and atmosphere.
Excelentfood drinks at a excellent price. Great service too
Horrible Food. Desserts are not housemade. Bartender could not even make a simple old fashion. Food was bland and poorly presented. Take your money else where.
Great food best meatballs any where super service super people
Awesome as usual Dan and Nick make it worth while
Cozy friendly atmosphere. love the homemade chips and bruschetta they put out.
Great food, great prices, nice specials, and a friendly staff in a nice environment.
Overpriced for the food quality. Ordered ahead and still waited because they lost my order
We had a wonderful dinner on New Years Eve. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The food and prices was off their regular menu!
Only had drinks that nice owners are great Dan superb!
Amazing pasta, great service, and luxurious interior
Over priced and over rated. Food is so so.
Excellent food and service
This is one of our occasional date night places. Everything is wonderful every time!
Excellent place for nice quick lunch at a good price
Great food, great service, nice atmosphere
Excellent food, enthusiastic, friendly owner and staff. Good atmosphere, and nice selection of wines, etc.
Great food. Servers are great. Did I mention the food is great!
