Between my two properties I have been with ML Halle Oil for over 45 years. Ever since Townsend bought ML Halle, customer service has not been the same and its such ashamed. There are so many things that are wrong now that Townsend took over. For one, its not a local company anymore. Every time I call for a deliver or schedule an appointment for maintenance they literally have no ide who I am and its very frustrating. The last time I called, their answering service person/line asked me what type of oil do I need? Really???Second, when their answering service line picks up, half the time I have no clue what they are asking me because he sounds like hes either stoned or drunk. Hes slurring his words and I constantly have to repeat myself. And thirdly, they dont leave the invoice/receipt anymore and when we do receive our bill in the mail its three weeks out and now our bill is late and we dont get the 5% off discount either. I dont know what is going on there at Townsend but its a mess and we are going to be switching to a new company. We dont have time to keep calling them for my bill and other issues that we have with them.
Have had wonderful service as a oil customer for 3 years now.
Our recent furnace cleaning service was excellent. Dave was professional; he answered a few questions; he was on time; worked diligently and was very knowledgeable regarding his craft. I appreciate this. Therefore, we will continue with our service agreements for both AC and furnace.Townsend is slowly but surely regaining my confidence in them after a period of time during which I had to call them on several items. They always responded, but they did have issues to resolve. Enough said.They have resolved those issues which we had with them in a satisfactory manner.We will continue to work with Townsend Energy and I am happy that they are following up with surveys now. They obviously recognized the need to receive customer feedback. I am happy to give feedback because I feel that proper feedback always helps.
Sarah at Townsend was great! Very professional, knowledgeable and just a very nice person. She explained something to me that I could not wrap my brain around in a way that I could easily understand. She’s a keeper!! And I highly recommend Townsend Energy in general! Their customer service is awesome and they know their stuff!
My service man arrived early and was very nice. He answered my questions as he was doing the work and showed me the process of how the boiler works you could tell he has years of experience. I made the change to Townsend at the beginning of the year and I have been happy with their oil prices and now their service.
Mike did a great job checking all my gas connections. He was promptly on time and finished his work quickly. Highly recommend! I also really like their budget pay pricing so I can pick the day they draft my account 😊
Just bought a new home and asked Townsend to come clean furnace just to be sure all was OK, Got a call yesterday they had an opening and came a day early, tech found a couple minor issues and corrected them, answered all my6 questions and gave great advice. He was friendly, knowledgeable and did an excellent job! What more could you ask for?
Mike, the technician that came to perform our Safety Check, was very thorough and informative. He took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He spent time answering our questions and even gave us advice on how to get the most out of our Fireplace Log set.
Brian made an emergency call for no heat at our house on one of the coldest nights so far this winter. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had us back to making heat in less than 20 minutes. Great all around tech and he goes the extra mile every time.
A top-notch experience with Townsend Energy. The technician was able to get to me the same day I called for service, during a snow storm. Mike Welch was professional, personable and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem quickly and had the parts to fix the issue in this service van. Took the time to explain to me what had failed and how the safety functions worked properly. Got the unit back up in running within the hour, paying attention to detail along the way.

Lost our boiler Friday, filled out a Townsend inquiry Sat. night, was called back shortly after hitting send by Jim Townsend. Met the next day (a Sunday morning) with Brian. New system by Tuesday afternoon. Absolutely amazing follow-through, consideration, and service. I had been told I was looking at over a week with no heat. Townsend really came through for us. Tony was very efficient and got the a/c inspection done quickly.Sadly, my unit did not pass (unable to hold Freon), but it is nearly 25 years old, so not unexpected.He said that he would report to headquarters that I want an estimate on a new unit.Tony was definitely more pleasant than the last tech that I had working on my a/c unit.
Ive been a customer for years and have had numerous service calls in that period. Some great and some not so great. Lee is in a class all by himself. Professional and thorough. He came out on an On Call call, after hours and stayed until the job (not an easy one) was completed. These days the dedication and commitment to service that Lee displayed are very rare.

Time had come to install a new Propane Water Heater. Got in touch with Townsend and they immediately came out accessed the situation and recommended a new water heater. Within two hours the crew was there and installed the new heater. Thank you for the service and the crew Mike and Rich were friendly and courteous. Job well done..

Greg came over to service my boiler. Ive never owned a home before and he was kind enough to show my how the boiler worked and where all the pipes were and what to look for if I ever had no heat. He was very knowledgeable and a nice guy.

We recently had a new boiler installed by Townsend Energy. The entire process went very well, from the initial meetings right thru to installation. All preliminary questions were promptly and professionally answered and the installation team of Matt and Lee was exceptional.

We are so pleased with the service that Carl provided us. He was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of our oil burner, chimney, and oil tank. I learned A LOT. He was very professional, friendly, and efficient. We will request his services annually. I also felt reassured that my chimney was clear and cleaned, as he vacuumed out any blockage. Its just nice knowing that all is good with your burner. Sounds weird to say, but I do believe it perhaps will save us thousands in the long run by taking care of it. Great job! Called on 3/16/20 to have oil delivered on 3/17/20. I was told that the delivery drivers are no longer allowed to pick up checks. I had to pay by check, debit/credit card over the phone. I gave my checking account info even though I dont feel secure doing that. Today received a call saying that we owe them money for the delivery. I have no problem paying them but boy does it make me angry when Im accused of not having money in my account or its the banks fault that the payment was rejected. First of all, my wife work for the bank and it never was rejected and we pay our Bills. There was no question that the money was available. We wouldnt have scheduled a delivery if we couldnt pay for it. To be acccused by their customer service associate of this has me done with with this company. We always used Halle Oil., unfortunately they have been obtained by Townsend. Goodbye Ill never be back.
We switched to Townsend for propane from a much larger energy company for residential needs. It has saved us over $1,000 in just one year. Whenever I need a refill, I call and they come right out. I highly recommend them if you are looking to not get price gouged by these large energy companies that hold you hostage.
I recently had Townsend energy hook up gas lines to my dryer and generator. The service technicians were clean, professional and quick. I can rest assure that the job was done properly and to code. They answered any and all my propane questions. The technition Pete made sure my family an I understood the ins and outs of how to shut down the propane in case of an emergency, he made sure we knew what it smells like in case of a leak. Pete was super through with safety being sure our dryer was working properly and up to code. He double and triple checked his work, also he cares very much how his work looks and how he leaves his work area (clean no litter). Thank you so much for fitting me in and doing such a great job.

Previously I had written a bad review regarding the transition of Halle Oil to Townsend Energy as I had several issues. However,thanks to Pam G everything got straightened out. Pam has gone out of her way to make a long time customer very happy and because of that I would highly recommend Townsend Energy to anyone! As a matter of fact I already have !
So, Townsend faithfully delivered propane recently to my house as part of their great automatic program. I chatted with the pleasant driver, and he suggested that I had a rodent problem (building dirt) in the underground tank riser. He explained how I could remedy the problem. A week later, I went out to fix it, and - to my pleasant surprise - Townsend had sent a technician to clean it out - no charge! My experience with this company has been excellent. They really care, and they deliver energy for reasonable prices! Two thumbs up, Townsend!!
These people were great when they were ML Halle Oil. Since becoming Townsend Energy the service has gone WAY down and prices WAY up with no warning or even a notice that they went up. I will be looking for a new oil company that believes in supporting their customers and be open and honest with them regarding changes to the company especially the costs! VERY sad to see ML Halle Oil go too as I found them to be amazing, but alas all good things must come to an end I guess:(

The two guys from Townsend were very courteous and worked quickly and efficiently to complete the installation of a new liquid propane tank and the accompanying lines.
I used their services last fall/early winter and they completely took advantage of their pricing. I was being charged $2.99 per gallon for oil where any other company was offering at most $2.80 or below (called around for quotes).
Service for new tank was excellent.drivers explained everything we had questions about.on time delivery.

We have been using Halle oil for 16 years and would recommend them to any one. The service is wonderful. The customer service staff a real person (hi Lena) who answers the phone and goes out the way to help you. We had another local company do our service for awhile and we felt we were getting ripped off, every visit was $600. Not Halle, they will not sell you something just to sell it. Honest. Reliable. Friendly. Honey, just call Halle.

I have NEVER in my life dealt with a more difficult oil company. The customer service is atrocious and argumentative. The woman who answers the phone is much less than helpful and challenges you at the drop of a hat. I am not even a customer of theirs nor would I ever be. I am also working towards establishing my mother in law (who is elderly and without heat) with a more understanding and accommodating oil company. Entirely disgusted and will also be filing a report with the BBB. This company should be ashamed of themselves.

Its either great service or crappy with these guys. I stick with them because they are the ONLY company I have found that does a 12 month budget plan for oil when all others do a 9 month plan. However, their service is far from superior, they have often times quoted me different prices within the same day/call. If you dont write down who you specifically spoke with they wont honor the lower pricing. Many times I have to call numerous times just to follow-up with non returned called. Their techs however, are top notch and very knowledgable and arrive as scheduled.

Apparently ML HALLE didnt care enough to let me know they changed. Ive been with them for many years and not one notice of name change, pricing, and how now they send you the bill now?? I think Im going to move on. Theres no personalized service anymore!! So sad

We started using Townsend in the fall of 2017. The account is in my boyfriends name and was supposed to be set up on an auto delivery plan. By the second delivery we were already having issues. I had given them a credit card number to run and nothing was run. Not realizing this, we were always a payment behind. We would always have to call for the next delivery, which was strange because it was supposed to be auto. We realize what happened and got paid up.Fast forward to the fall of 2018 when we need our first delivery of the winter season. We are told we have to call and pay prior to delivery because of last year. Well, thats funny because I recall that being their mistake in the first place. I called my sales rep, Richard Nolan, and asked if I switch the account to my name so it can be set up on auto delivery because of the mix up last year. He said he has to see if they will give me credit and take my info. (Little did I know they were running a credit report which was not disclosed to me. I found that out while checking my report this year.) Richard lets me know that they wont allow this because of last year. So I said, if thats the case then we are going to our old oil company. I never heard back. Sounds pretty clear to me that they werent interested and neither was I.We started receiving calls in February with a message saying we have a balance. I know this to be false as we ended our relationship with this company with a zero balance. We received a statement in the mail that now says that we had a delivery of 70ish gallons in January. Not only did we not call for this, we explicitly told Richard Nolan that we were going back to our old oil company.I called Townsend and spoke to someone named Emily on 3-8-19. I explained to her that we did not call. She said that it was delivered on auto delivery. I told her that we were told in the fall that we could not be on auto delivery and that is why we severed our relationship with this company. She said there were no notes and shed have to look into it.A few days later I was called and told that we owe over $200 and that if we dont pay they will call and attorney. I reiterated that we were told we could not be on auto delivery in the fall and he said, well if you had just paid your bill. Well, I gave someone my credit card and it wasnt run. I also and that we told Richard Nolan we were going back to our old company.So not only did they auto deliver 70 gals of oil 3+ months after they denied me the auto delivery option, they shamed me for not paying a bill last year which was their mistake. And the person I told I wouldnt be a returning customer didnt put notes in my account. How is this my problem? Sounds like its theirs and they want me to pay for it.
Tony was very knowledgeable of the system, he knew right what to look for and do. He also cleaned the system up for me in my attic, and in the backyard.He also gave me some helpful hints on how to keep the system operating at its full potential.He was very nice to talk with and made the experience so much better than it would have been. He deduced the problems I was having and fixed them promptly. I can look forward to having a nice central air cooled house in the upcoming summer months.Im so glad that I went with Townsend Energy for my system. You get good service and very nice people to come to your house and take care of your problems. Mr. Rodolosi makes Townsend Energy look great! We feel very confident in his workmanship, as we have with all the service people Townsend has sent to our home. But above all, Mr. Rodolosi does an especially excellent job of explaining the various aspects of how the system operates, in answer to several specific questions we had. Hes a patient instructor and good at calibrating his explanations to our ability to understand them. He would be a great instructor. Heres an idea for the company in general: when people move into a new home or first sign on to Townsend for service, a representative from Townsend (of Mr. Rdolosis caliber) comes in and introduces them to their particular heating system and all the dos and donts to maximize efficiency. Drivers a extremely rude . They block public roads so vehicles are unable to get through . There office people are of absolutely no use. Cars having to turn around almost leading to multiple accidents on a tiny road .
Theyll come same day if need be to get you what you need. Everyone on the phone has always been super friendly and they get out to you quick and easy
Can I give 0 stars?? Worst experience ever and we won’t be using them again. We called multiple times to get oil delivered and were promised they would call us back which they never did. When they finally sent someone out to look at our tank (after we called them 3 times) we were told we would have oil a few days later. We had to call them 2 1/2 weeks after that to beg them to deliver oil to us. They asked us to leave a check for them on the door when they delivered oil, which every other company I have used delivers oil and leaves the bill to be paid after, and told us they would send us the exact amount to leave the check for but they never did so we didn’t leave a check - I can’t leave a check if I don’t know how much to make it out for. Instead of them delivering us 200 gallons of oil they delivered 50. So unprofessional, never using again, would only recommend if you enjoy hassling your oil company and it being a long drawn out process.
Horrible service I was gonna be a member here I signed up and everything and they tell me they need a tank inspection which is obvious. And they say they dont schedule a time they will show up when they want they dont have a schedule it only takes 5min. I said I was available anyday after 3 and they reject me. Well sorry I work every day and dont have anyone at home to wait for a 5 min inspection.

Called for a estimate to check out a problem, they billed $55 for a service call and didnt tell me over the phone there would be a charge, then did work without authorization and charged me $101 to drain air out the system. STAY AWAY!
