I replaced my air conditioning system and also needed a rework done on the existing return air duct. After a careful review of proposals received from several contractors, I selected Cool-O-Matic AC & Refrigeration. I had Cool-O-Matic install a new HVAC system in my condo. After reading reviews and getting several estimates, I chose them for several reasons. For one, Tom was very knowledgeable and pointed out some potential problems with previous work I had done. He included fixing those issues in my contract. He also was very clear on explaining various types of furnaces, measured everything to be sure I had the correct size, and gave me four options - all of which were less expensive than competitors. He did not pressure me at all, unlike other companies. The installers were very nice, polite and respectful. They wore masks and were extremely careful disassembling the old system and installing the new one. They gave me advance notice when turning off gas and water, and kept my inconvenience to a minimum. We had a small glitch getting my gas fireplace working again after the gas had been off, but that has since been resolved.

Had an AC die right when summer started. it was an older R22 unit so repair was not worth the money or trouble, and there was some issue with air ducting to be addressed. Had a few quotes and decided to go with Coolomatic as their proposal presented the best value and Tom seemed very knowledgeable in presenting the solutions. His crew did a great job with the installation and everything was nice and neat. They also took care of permit filing very quickly.

I had a new AC system and furnace installed. Although a little more expensive, Cool-o-Matic completed a full energy assessment of my home and identified some problem areas which other companies did not. In addition, they did not discourage me from getting a building permit, Other companies actively told me not to do this; my belief is they feared the inspection. Work was done on time and professionally. I have only used the AC and it is working fine. Company has been responsive to questions.

After 25 good years my furnace called it quits. My original furnace and A/C system was installed by Cool -O- Matic back in the mid 90’s and aside from some regular maintenance I did not have any issues until the secondary heat exchanger clogged up with soot &rust. I called Cool -O- Matic and spoke with Tom who is very professional and responsive. After verifying the furnace was in fact clogged he did a thorough evaluation of my home taking measurements to determine sq. footage, taking into account the number of windows, which direction (N,S.E,W) the windows face, number of air returns, hot or cold spots in the home and came up with a detailed proposal on BTU’s for the furnace and optimal tons for the A/C unit. Tom explained in easy to understand terms my options and recommended the Bryant brand. The installation was flawless, the engineers were very professional and thoroughly cleaned up when they we’re done (aside from the new furnace and A/C unit you never even know they we’re there). I highly recommend Cool -O- Matic.

A rip off company with zero customer value or respect. My ac was not performing well and called this company and they sent a rep with a side kick as well and within minutes told me that my refrigerant was low (that I had already researched and identified). The rep came and constantly kept selling his new system and left (without even checking if the system was working) after handing out a $$$$ bill that was 3 times the cost than others charge. I called the company the next day whose so called motto is serve the community (more like fleece their community with poor service) and talk to this rude & obnoxious manager called john. He says that if you want we will install a new ac for you (when I dont need one) and that they have to pay health benefits and EPA certification which is the reason they charge 3 times the cost. If you still go to these jokers then you might as well throw $$ into a well or better give charity to some needy people!!!

I called 3 contractors to get quotes for a central A/C unit that badly needed replacing. Tom Romano from Cool-O-Matic was the quickest to respond and come to the house. He also performed the most thorough evaluation of the site. I explained to Tom that, besides being an old R22 unit, the system did not cool my house evenly. The master bed & office were warm and the second floor bedrooms were freezing. I also wanted a premium brand..Carrier, Trane, or Lennox. Had a Bryant HVAC system installed by Cool-O -Matic this week. The two installation technician (Andrew and Joe) were very thorough and professional. They REALLY cared about the quality of the work they were doing. They went above and beyond what I think is normal in the industry, to make things work and look correctly. They didnt rush and answered any questions we had. The unit they installed was for our great room, and based on their workmanship this time, if we ever need to replace our other whole house unit, well have them come back for that as well. Tom the sales rep was the first person we talked to and he explained everything in detail. After it was completed he came back to see how things went and to make sure we were satisfied.

We are very satisfied with Cool-O-Matic service and Bryant Furnace/AC System. Sales agent Tom Romano made three pre sale visits to our house. On the first visit, he measured all our rooms, identified location of ventilation registers, location of windows, and orientation of house, and used software to recommend size of AC and furnace system. Of four vendors, only Cool O Matic performed this analysis. The outcome showed that our existing furnace and AC were over sized for our house, and the replacement systems should be smaller capacity. Three other vendors did not perform this analysis and proposed replacement with same sized units, at higher initial and ongoing operating cost. On his second visit, Tom presented three replacement options, and discussed the pros and cons of each. After considering his three proposals, Tom returned a third time to answer my questions and conclude the agreement (we selected a Bryant 96% two stage, DC multi-speed fan furnace, and a two stage 15 SEER AC system, a more efficient upscale system that came in about the same price as the less efficient direct replacement systems proposed by the other vendors, thanks to Toms analysis). The installation went quickly and smoothly. A team of six courteous technicians took about six hours to remove the old furnace and AC, and install the new units, including the pvc ventilation system required for the new high efficiency furnace, and clean up the work site. Before leaving they trained us how to use our new wi-fi connected thermostat. Tom arrived near the end to inspect the installation and answer any questions we had. The replacement was done near the end of summer, but so far we have found the house to be more comfortable with the two stage AC, and anticipate the same will be true with the two stage furnace once the heating season begins.

Would love to be able to rate them even lower. Can only say one thing. Never use this company - ever. From faulty installation with 5 call backs to service left undone. When installed 5 years ago, they returned 5 or 6 times just to get the system not to leak water all over my attic. This year alone they came out to service 4 times. 1st was general service - which was left incomplete with no filter change. 2nd was to replace a faulty plastic tube (not pvc) which they installed a year earlier only to say they used the wrong material. This tube cracked and caused a leak in the attic yet again. 3rd and 4th were for a problem they still can fix. They have changed out multiple expensive parts (electric board to capacitor). Still doesnt work. Best I can get is we can get to you maybe tomorrow. Not me. Fired and will never return as a customer. Truly awful service.

Tom and Cool-O-Matics installation crew were extraordinarily diligent and workmanship was superb. Their first installation in 2007 was excellent as well. In terms of price, Cool-O-Matic was very competitive and responded to my other competitive quotes responsibly. Replaced our 20+ years ac and furnace with Carrier Infinity products.. Cool-O-Matti install team did a good job. The new units was up and running with the Infinity touch (wifi capable) control - a very cool box compared to the old on and off thermal mucury swich. Tom was really nice to work with and very thorough in prep work to propose the right units for us. The only issue I ran into now is Carriers My Infinity Touch server - unreliable access (got frequent disconnect or access error). Called Carrier and they said that it was a known issue, and it was actively being worked. In fact, since yesterdy, I was able to connect it using infinity touch app without any issue.

I will not be using Cool-O-Matic in the future. After years of having an AC contract with them I finally had to take advantage of the service when my condenser fan stopped spinning. I feel that there is no benefit to the service contract. Cool-O-Matic’s service department was not responsive, their repairman was late and there was no communication. The cost of the repair was excessive.Friday night – Condenser fan stops spinning and our house is 82 degrees.Saturday morning – Internet research helps me diagnose that the issue is the capacitor that makes the fan start and run. You Tube is awesome. Further research and removing the side panel of the condenser let me know that I can buy the replacement capacitor online for less than $40. I call Cool-O-Matic (they are closed) and leave a message explaining my problem and self-diagnosis. I ask them to call back and schedule service. I would have tried the repair on my own but I had to head to a conference first thing Monday morning, leaving my wife and 3-year-old home on high 80 degree days without air conditioning. To be clear I did not specify that it was an emergency in the message I left.Monday morning 10:00 am - I call Cool-O-Matic back because I had not heard from them. After explaining my issue to the person that answers, they say “Oh, you left a message” and I reply that I thought they would call me back. They inform me that they are booked for the day and the earliest they could do is between 2 pm and 6pm on Tuesday. I make the appointment.Tuesday – I asked my retired father if he could come to our house and wait for the repairman since I was away and my wife could not take off for the day. He comes over before 2 and waits. 6 pm comes and goes. My wife comes home and my father leaves. 6:20 the repairman arrives and 20 minutes later he is done. The issue was the capacitor.Here is the break down of the repair listed on the bill.Diagnostic $125Turbo 200 Capacitor $254Subtotal $37915% discount (for having an AC contract) $56.85Total $322.15Tax $22.56Total $344.71They used a universal capacitor that is available from Amazon for $60.25, my guess is that they pay less. When I called them question the bill I was told the $125 charge was for coming to our house and that the $254 was a flat rate for the part with a markup and the repair.I will be searching for a new company to handle my AC repairs in the future.

They explained every step of work and when they were finished, they explained how and when to change filters and what to look for in furnance in case a problem comes up. My A/C broke in JUN and the temp was hovering at high 80s. Called for an emergency appt. The driver arrived late, but thats fine on an emergency visit, i understand.He evaluated fast and quickly arrived at the conclusion that i needed a new capacitor. Only he stated a price in advance of $280. In their defense, i said go ahead and do the work, so i technically agreed to the price.While he was replacing, i looked online and saw the range of capacitors from $40-$90. I asked again why it was so expensive, and he said it was the best one on the market. I also got stuck for another $170 in labor for 20-30min work. Even for an emergency appt, $450 total seems a little high.I called the next day to complain, and whoever answered the phone never got back to me.I absolutely agreed for the work to be done, i just didnt expect to get get gouged on an emergency appt. I actually found them on Angies List, and theyve since been taken off. Not a huge wonder why.They knew their job and worked fast, i just cant get past being taken advantage of. Will not use them again.ps - also a chump move to 5-star your own company just to raise the already lousy rating.
