Self checkout systems are past inadequate. 2 wouldnt ring up ice and 2 red bulls.Nobody comes to help with the machine. It really is self checkout.Now waiting in an open human checker line... But where is the checker? Not here.3 open human lanes. But only 1 has a human behind the counter.To be frank, im surprised this Lucky has managed to hold on for this long. You should be an Albertsons.

First time coming here, I used the self checkout as the regular ones were full. The employee who was at the self checkout desk was super rude, she scolded me for not putting my items on the surface after scanning them. I brought my own bags and was trying to keep my food items from touching the dirty surface, then I hit skip bagging, as I was using my own bag. The employee came over and took the bag out of my hand and started accusing me of not scanning items in my bag!!!

I shop at this store multiple times per week and I have never had a bad experience. The grocery items that I need are usually in stocks, and the employees there are always professional and very polite.

Worst place to buy groceries. Always one cashier and self checkout is a joke. If you have time to wait around go for it.

This is absolutely the Worst Lucky I’ve ever been to. Employees aren’t helpful, waited at Customer Service for over 10 mins…employees walked by never asked if I needed help. All of them are Lazy. Extremely unsatisfied and will never go back. No wonder why there’s always front row parking…

The night crew there is definitely has no customer service skills no body said hello three workers talking about personal business and do not even greet the guest the only one that should get a promotion is a young man by the name of Ben, that is the sweetest most helpful person there. If it wasnt, for him your company would be one of the worst places to shop at. Even the manager or the top clerk at night needs a customer service class she does not smile or even look like she cares only maybe getting her paycheck, since she stands at the customer service desk with not acknowledging you and not saying she will be right with you. Probably going to have to drive to Safeway because there a huge difference in customer service they at least look happy and say hello

Higher prices than anywhere else in the area. Their self checkouts are totally unmanned, so if you have a problem youll be waiting an eternity while the employees ignore you. The back of the store stinks strongly like fish. Its enough to make you gag.

I always love shopping here. They have many food items that you cant find in a contemporary grocery store. The staff is friendly and helpful and the produce section is always immaculate! I think its the best in town! Their prices are affordable as well.

I dont know how this place consistantly has no lines open, but its a problem. I cant think of a single time I didnt have to wait in an absurdly long line. Especially while just having a few things to check out. Hire more god damn checkers.

Something is seriously off with the morning staff. The overall morale must not be great. Their unhappiness is shown through how they interact with each other and customers. I understand working at a grocery store isnt great, but try and have a better attitude.

I split my weekly grocery shopping between this Lucky, the Marina Grocery Outlet, and less frequently the Safeway in Del Rey Oaks and Costco. The Marina Lucky is not necessarily GREAT, but its not TERRIBLE either. Middle of the road, I guess. I like it better than the local Walmart, for sure. The Marina Lucky was built in the 80s, and its smaller than more modern supermarkets (a lot smaller than the Lucky in Sand City, for example).You need to be mindful of expiration dates when shopping here. Sometimes Ive found non-refrigerated items a few months past their use by date, but thats not often not a huge deal. It doesnt mean the item has gone bad, but the quality/texture/freshness might have degraded some. However, if I find things like cold cuts that are even a few days past their date, I alert the staff about it so people dont get sick.If you see a great deal advertised for something in the meat department, dont wait until the last few days of the sale. Chances are they will run out before the sale is over, and getting a rain check isnt always possible.The staff is hit-or-miss in terms of friendliness, but Ive never encountered anyone that was outright rude. Heck, if I had to work in a public place during a pandemic, I might not be Mr. Sunshine all the time either, so Im cutting all grocery workers EVERYWHERE some slack during the stressful times weve endured.This Lucky was recently renovated, with updated flooring replacing worn-out scruffy vinyl. All the outdated and grungy freezer, meat and dairy storage was replaced with clean locker-style storage with glass doors that dont fog up. I imagine their energy bill went way down after that, and the food is definitely kept colder now. I use a copper hook on my keychain (bought at the Grocery Outlet) so I dont have to touch the locker handles with my hands, but recent research seems to indicate thats probably overkill on my part. Earlier in the pandemic this Lucky store didnt seem to take as many precautions as other places, but now they have separate nicely-marked sections for sanitized carts, and returned, un-sanitized ones. That was long overdue.EDIT: I forgot to mention that every time I go there are at most only 2 checkout lines running. While that might be due to Lucky wanting to reduce covid exposure for their staff, what about the long lines with people waiting? Everyone in the line ends up breathing the air of the people in front of them eventually, as you slowly advance forward. I try to use the self-checkout but some of the machines are twitchy and staff has to come over to clear the error out. The last time I went there 3 people (including myself) in the self-checkout simultaneously needed help. Because of the shortage of open checkout lines Im knocking my review down from 4 stars previously, to 3 stars.

The score always seem to be understaffed, expecially, when it comes to check out. You would think in this time of covid-19 you would want to move people out of the store at checkout as quickly as possible.

Love Luckys! My favorite local grocery store! There produce is always up to par, the prices are decent and they always carry items that you wouldnt normally find at just any old grocery store. The store overall is very clean and well kept. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well.

This place was jammed packed the other night. In no way is this grocery store following protocols as COVID-19 cases surge across the county!! Prices are 3 times higher here than down the street at target or walmart. For fresh meat, try Rancho Market which is a half a block away!

They had yeast! Do you understand how rare that is in 2020? Plus a full stock of literally everything else we needed. We waited in line for a brief period of time and the cashier was friendly. Well done!

Have nothing bad to say about this store. Checkers & customer service always helpful. Bakery very accommodating when i need loaves of LaBrea Bakery Honey Sunflower bread baked. Good produce sales. If theres a stock person working in the aisles & I have a question, they will go out of their way to help. Only ding is deli chicken which is often overcooked, hard, tasteless. They cant compete with Safeway chicken tenders or wings. Otherwise great store with plenty of parking. MUCH better than Salinas store which is dated & small.

Please just wanted to let you know that 4 out 5 employees did not have their Name Tags on. Do you know how irritating this is? Am in the guest services Would let like next time I go there Name Tags will be worn

I went in and asked about the Thanksgiving meals, got my questions answered. I went back 30 minutes later to order, but they said they were out of Turkey and beef..that would have been nice to know the first time.

Nice small store, but quite well stocked and the manager is so nice.

I came to the store on 4/8 at 6:30pm and it’s my moms birthday and Arturo was putting fruit away and he saw me struggling to find something nice for my mother and he was so helpful in the flower department, I am glad he helped me! my mom was super happy with her flowers.

The staff here is professional and kind to their customers. Theyre always working to keep lines short and shelves stocked even when theyre busy. This is probably one of the best grocery stores Ive been to.

This location is pretty convenient. Some of the inside feels a little dated, but overall its a nice grocery store. They seem to always have decent sales on their products. Plenty of parking and its well lit, so safety doesnt seem to be an issue. Id recommend this location.

Luckys is a good place to go shopping for your groceries. They are reasonably priced and you can find good sales in the Luckys. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, I would have given them four stars except for they never have more than one register open generally.

Not good when you are out of some spices I needed.

Love Lucky! Their produce is fresh, prices are great, and selection is good. This has helped me save money in my food budget which is very important when you have a family of 7. Worth the extra drive to go to Lucky rather than go to a closer Smiths or Walmart.

Good pastries. I would say the most people who work here are not the most friendly. I would say only about half are polite and serviceful as theyshould be. I will give it a 4 stars for the food and those rare employees who actually are very helpful and nice.

Expired food on shelves and what not. Always check things before you buy them here. No matter what it is. Shop somewhere else if you can.

Im not sure why this is rated close to 3.8. I believe this grocery store is excellent. Prices are reasonable, its clean inside, the staff is friendly no complaints.

The staff is very nice. That’s the extent of my praise for this store. They rarely have basic items in stock, prices seem to be set randomly(why is a small pack of Pocky $4 here when it’s $2 literally anywhere else?), they’ll suddenly stop carrying specific items(where ya at, Pesto veggie dogs!?). And most egregiously, as of this review-September 27th- they don’t even have the Halloween cereals in stock, despite having Halloween decorations out!

Im visiting from out of town. Ive never been in a Lucky before. It was better than I expected. Clean and with a reasonably good selection. Staff were friendly and helpful to me as one who did not know her way around the store.

Just moved here couple months ago. Since then have bought bad chicken as well produce always looks gross (when we live where they grow it) When I went back to tell them the chicken is all bad they said its just freezer spots... yeah.. bright white ammonia smelling freezer spots. Got sick after cooking some stuff from here the other day and that was the last straw. Would recommend another store for cleanliness and safe food. Any store!

Hard to find anything in this store as the items are not always paired with similar items. Got a banana cream pie here once and it tasted like chemicals and had to throw the whole thing out. Tried again thinking it was just that one and it happened again. The stickers are super friendly but the cashiers are smug rude and definitely show that they hate their jobs. Prices are very high here which is why we only go to get specific items that the other local store does not carry. Long waits as there is usually only one cashier and the self check line typically has broken machines so does not run effectively. Not large meat choices and does not always look that fresh

Love to review places I have been

Was craving cottage cheese so I went here to buy. Thought it was my lucky day when I saw a 2lb for 50 cents but was suspicious a bit. Figured the price was because it’d be expiring in the next couple days according to packaging. Got home and found they must’ve not kept it stored properly because Soon as I opened it there was visible mold in the cheese even though it still had plenty of time before that would’ve happened.Selling improperly kept cottage cheese? Really? I’m not upset at the price. I’m agitated about the lack of honesty For a quick profit and the craving I now can’t even satisfy because everything is closed.

Decent store at all times. Keeps stocked, good cuts of meat, nice produce. Bakery is pretty nice but a bit pricey. Majority of the staff is great. Love Anne! But avoid cranky Karl. He is really unfriendly bordering on rude at all times. Even a friendly Hello Karl is met with a cutting retort.

My least favorite place to shop for groceries. Used only when I need something and it cant wait until I get to my favorite place to shop for groceries..Considering that we are in the salad bowel of the US and produce markets are almost on every corner in and around Monterey.. produced is not overpriced but simply OUT OF LINE . Staff is very nice and very helpful and for me that is never an issue.

After many years of shopping at Safeway and now having to shop at Luckys because it is close to my house, I realize how spoiled I was shopping at Safeway. Luckys simply put is a horrible store. They frequently do not have brands or items that I am looking for, several times I have bought food only to find out its expired (I no longer buy anything at luckys before checking the expiration date), and most recently I purchased over a pound of shrimp from the meat counter only to open it up at home and realize the shrimp was bad. I sort of thought it looked a little rough when I bought it, but the Luckys employee behind the meat counter assured me that it was fresh shrimp and that he had just put it out that day. He either was lying or incompetent. Im done with this store, I will drive the extra fifteen minutes to Safeway.

This local Lucky chain goes through new brand ownership every few years but manages to keep their staff in tact. It was Lucky years ago, once, before it became SavMart before it may have been a Monte Mart or some other regional chain. This store tends to be slightly lower cost than Safeway, but I like the staff and the loss leader and mark downs. Then I shop at the other stores. The hours here seem to get shorter recently and now leaves Marina residents without a grocery past 10 pm.

Sand city has a really nice one. I like the one in Marina but the produce and deli could use a makeover. They have a pretty wide selection otherwise and I still go here for my primary grocery needs.

Every time I go in here the staff are miserable and unhelpful. Today was the ultimate - I asked for a small plastic bag at checkout as I noticed the produce was leaking on the rubber belt. The answer was no - didnt you see it was leaking when you picked it up . These staff all need customer service training. Your competitors consistently out-perform you in customer service.

Good, but not as good as Salinas. I really liked the selection of take and heat entries at the Salinas location. But the Marina store was cleen and last year was friendly and efficient.

I dont recommend shopping here unless you want to take home rotten vegetables and waste your hard earned money.Im livid about the condition of the head of cabbage I bought from this location today, I ended up throwing it out.Marina needs a better functioning grocery store that doesnt subject their residents to products that will make them severely sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I have in the past, brushed off their younger cashiers inability to help paying customers who do nothing but subject you to listening in on their mundane lives while they carelessly pack your groceries improperly. When I get back into my car, I usually have to rearrange my vegetables and fruit from the dripping blood from meat I purchased because unless you think thats sanitary, then I can tell you that youre out of line and havent paid close attention when you obtained your food handlers licence.I would love to support local grocery stores, but I think my money and my time is better spent at the Sunday market where my money goes farther and the farmers that grow my food care about the quality of product they produce.

New standup refrigerators, freezers, flooring and a reduce of the outside store sign. Below the Luckys sign on the building, California looks like Colifornio because of the font used in the design. The store is stocked and clean. The self check out is frustrating to say the least because of the sensitive or lack of on the scanner. A quick check out turned into a slow go. Hard to choose with only one register open.
