Great store when theyre open but they dont keep their posted hours. Front door locked and store empty a full hour before closing time on Saturday. Wastes peoples time to drive here only to find its closed without an explanation.

Good experience; they helped me get my first gun, and my first ammo purchase. The website says they close at 4PM, but in my visits it was more like 3:15. Also, the written safety test is not administered after 2:30. Time your arrival accordingly.

Lets face it, Zack is a straight shooter. Ive been in there 100s of times and I couldnt put up with half the clowns that walk in that place. Do your research first, dont walk in like a dummy not knowing anything about what you are looking for, when you go to a car dealership do you go there not knowing what you want to buy? Anyways, I love the staff there and the owner is pretty cool also. My only complaint is I go in to buy ammo and I always walk out with a new gun.... ha ha Also dont forget to check out their knife selection, pretty nice blades in there.

Crooks. Called came in from Fairfield. Was quoted 65 a box for 357 sig. drive in guy says 100 dollars a box. I say I called was quoted 65. He said sorry you were miss quoted. Won’t ever do business with them straight crooks.

I went in today and bought a gun only because of the price. It was cheap which I liked. But for a new buyer like myself I hated the fact that their mood was a get in and get out type of deal they were very rude. It made my buying experience uncomfortable. Plus if they wanna rush people at least have more people behind the counter. P.S if you dont like your job which they complained about constantly then dont work! Dont make your customers feel bad for coming in.

I went in to Canyon aware of both the good and poor reviews. I was looking for a hard to find item and expected to have to order and wait a long time. I almost fainted to see that one was in the case with my name on it. The employees were joking but business like. Zack and two others helped me through the paperwork, and in no time at all I was done. My thanks to the crew.

The whole staff at Canyon Sports is great. It was busy the day I came in, but they always made sure to direct me to an area to look at the rifle I was interested in. They always circled back to make sure I was seeing what I needed and to give me a few other options.In the end, I got just what I was looking for and a few extras too. I am not a gun person but me and some friends did a beginner lesson and really enjoyed it. The place is run down but everyone is very friendly and shooting is quite affordable. Highly recommend it even if you never shot a gun in your life.

Brought my Browning challenger III to see about getting rail for a optical reflex sight! The owner was able to modify a rail and get it to work in about 15 minutes! I was expecting to have to leave it there for a week! Done while I waited! I will shop here again! I am very happy!

Extremely unprofessional, overpriced and looking to screw inexperienced gun buyers. My experience with staff has been worse every time I visit, very disrespectful and condescending tone to a repeat customer. Prices on guns have been jacked up due to covid situation, even after I spoke to owner once and said he would never overprice due to the situation. I was there Saturday with my dad to get him a gift for Father’s Day. Naturally there was a line with the covid situation. My father chose a handgun and we proceeded to tell them we still wanted to look around for a long gun. Not only did they rush us, they didn’t bother giving us dedicated attention when we asked about guns behind the counter. Once I was ready to pay, they proceed to try to make me do two separate transactions, one for hand gun and another for long guns. Basically they wanted to charge two DROS fees when all the guns should’ve been one single transaction and could’ve been done under one DROS, as I’ve done in the past. Then when we bring it up to them, they said that’s the way it works, if unhappy they could cancel transaction, feeling very confident trying to act all tough and mighty behind the counter. The transaction was cancelled and I will be taking my service elsewhere, plenty of decent FFL and gun shops in the Bay Area who know how to appreciate customers.

Since the Guns and Ammo shortage Ive been buying ammo where ever I can find it. This place has a good amount of ammo in stock and a good amount of guns in stock. The service is absolutely the worst I have ever had in any gun shop. All the sales people behind the counter have major attitudes, especially mister biker dude with the tattoos. When I was there the store was not busy only a few customers so I asked a few questions and he gave me the most demeaning attitude I have ever received from a retail store. I will not buy anything except ammo from them because I cant stand the attitudes. They all think they are Gods gift to the gun world. I have been around guns for over 30 years and have a good deal of knowledge with guns. Those idiots are lucky to have a job. If I owned that store most of them would be fired immediately if not sooner.

First time I went and purchased a gun they were great, which is why I drove an hour to do business with them. I ended up walking out in 5 minutes because the guy was so rude. Every other word was F&^CK out of his mouth (I swear a lot, but not to my customers), he was very disrespectful and acted like I was wasting his time, they were not busy. Not sure if it was the owner, but he certainly represented the store. I wont ever go back and will gladly steer people elsewhere. I love supporting smaller stores, but cmon, experiences like this will drive me to the box stores, ugh.

Canyon Sports is the only REAL Gun Shop left IMHO. When the Libs drove the San Francisco Gun Exchange to close. I felt like there would never be another real Gun Store in CA. Canyon Sports has one of the best inventories of guns I have seen in the Bay Area. The Staff is generally very knowledgeable, but like most things. You need to do your research first. Know what you want and what you are willing to pay. Some prices are high, some are VERY good. I read the other reviews. Lots of Wanna be gun owners in the reviews. I have been in the shop when all the so called customers want to do is hold guns and look at stuff they cant afford. Know what you want, walk in with money and you will leave happy every time. If you want to look and ask silly questions, go to a museum and stay out of the way for those of us who know what we want.

Ive always had a good experience (10+ years) and there selection is superior to other gun stores in the area. The prices are the best too..... Im not sure what all the bitching is about. Like I said...They have a monster selection and great prices. Theres also a huge staff so if you dont feel comfortable with one worker then move on to another.

I took my AR15 in to the store with me so they could sell the correct trigger replacement. I drove 95 miles to go there. Paid for my part, drove home and found out they sold me the WRONG part. Called them the next day and asked if I could mail the WRONG part back to them and if they would send the correct part.“NO...... you have to come back, we don’t do mail returns.”Called the manufacture and told them of my problem. They took the wrong part back and sent me the correct part without issue.I will NEVER set foot in Canyon Sports EVER AGAIN!

Well, curiosity was the main reason I stopped, and my daughter and son-in-law live close by. I am from Oregon and cant buy guns here but reading the reviews piqued my interest. Ive been looking for pistol gun powder so I dialed the address in my GPS. Easy that way, but it is literally a hole in the wall. Once inside though, holy cow!, what a candy store for gun owners! The man behind the counter was very congenial and interested in my comments. They dont carry gun powder. Storage problem, he said. I was free to browse and I could hear the famous Zach-like person discussing a deal with a customer. It was great. After the bartering the customer won out, and I left feeling I would like to come back here for my shooting accessories. I usually go to Vacaville to shop but the $5 toll and gas makes Canyon Sports higher markup (if there is any) tolerable.

At the same time, these folks in the shop know the products and required laws and procedures. When we talk about firearms; its a serious business and Canyon Sports know stuffs that you can trust.I was late by 15 minutes to pick up my order and they were about setting alarm and leave the shop to enjoy the rest of Sunday afternoon. Very knowledgeable staff! The lady at the register is a crackup and very helpful. They were able to figure out what rounds would be compatible with my old timey revolver, I had a great day shooting because of them! Cheap 12g target ammo, good stock, open on a Sunday, how could you ask for more?

Everyone there has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. From the beginning of going in there to ask questions about trap shooting guns... which were the best, what was reasonable, what was reliable, etc. We ended up purchasing a gun for my sons Trap Shooting sport... from Canyon Sports because of their knowledge and the helpful atmosphere compared to others we had visited when trying to decide what to get.

Wont be back ppl are pushy, rude and lack every aspect of customer service including patience. One nice guy behind the counter, I understand our gun stores need to be safe but the decision is up to the state and we shouldnt be treated like crap especially when we spend good money. Would have taken my money elsewhere if Id known ahead of time there was $145 restocking fee even when the gun never left the box. Will not be back, need some attitude adjustments.

Dont waste your time with this place to buy a gun. Very unhelpful on the phone. Basically they dont want to help phone calls. No help and no prices on the phone. Only if make the trip in and get treated like maybe youll buy something. Move on to the next shop. Theres to many out there that want to sell guns to you.

I was very pleased with the shop. They were very informative and helpful. The shop was well stocked with guns and ammo. I found the prices to be competitive. I did buy ammo but would consided a firearm purchase.

Until they realized I was actually going to buy a gun, it I was then I was treated as a customer. Maybe because I was young. Maybe I didnt appear to have the money to buy the .500 S&W I wanted. Just my experience. It could have been an off day or what have you. But I wasnt getting a vibe that I was important especially until I unpocketed 1200.00 dollars.

The employee attitudes at canyon sports are abysmal at best. If you are looking to buy your first firearm I highly suggest going elsewhere in the bay area or making the drive to another part of the bay.Essentially what it boils down to is rude employees whos desire to get into your wallet supersedes your customer experience. Additionally, their prices are higher than anywhere else around. However their inventory is top notch (if you can stomach the employee presence) so you are essentially paying for access to guns that other shops would happily special order for you.TLDR: Just dont go here.

Walked in about to become a first time gun owner and was walked through the process. Never felt overwhelmed, they just kept it simple making sure I was getting a good match.

Ive purchased 7 firearms as well as ammo, mags, optics, cleaning and maintenance supplies from here and have had great customer service each time. They have a large selection of firearms and assorted gear like those previously mentioned, as well as backpacks, soft cases, reloading supplies, knives and gun safes.The staff takes the time to help explain the pros and cons of the products and Ive never felt pressured into buying anything. They seem happy to let you browse and if you have any questions or are ready to make a purchase, just ask. Granted, this is a bit more difficult when theyre busy, but thats expected isnt it? They do their best to get to you, just be patient and wait your turn.The prices also seem reasonable, or at least comparable to other shops.In my experience, the atmosphere and general attitude of the shop has been welcoming and non-threatening and I would highly recommend this store to anyone.

Staff seems friendly enough, I dont have any tattoos yet people that have some dont scare me. Yes, the store is a little disorganized but they do offer a wide selection of products at reasonable prices. A good place to buy your first firearm if you aske me.

After reading some of the other reviews about service I could see how you might get an impression of rudeness but its only because they care, trust me. The staff is very knowledgeable and will take the time to help if you ask. I was very pleased with the the selection and prices here and will definitely be back again.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The awful attitudes of the employees with the exception of one are unreal. There are several employees whos rudeness knows no bounds. These people are not the ones to spend your money with. The prices here are outrageous, I used to be a customer because they were the only gun shop in the area, thank goodness City Arms came in to offer slightly less ridiculous prices and reasonable customer service. Dont patronize this establishment! If I owned this business, Id fire all but one of the employees and replace them with employees who dont treat paying customers poorly. (I rated quality as good simply because they dont manufacture what they sell.)

Canyon Sports has come a long way. Quite honestly they used to be overpriced, butbin the recent years that seems to have come full circle. Now they have very reasonable prices on firarms, ammunition, and especially relaoding supplies. Cheapest powder around, exepy Rickmond Rod and Gun club, but there you must be a member and is that expensive.

Dont go anywhere else! Rick was a lot of help as well as the others there whos name I didnt get. Im relatively new to shooting and wasnt treated like an idiot. Bought 2 guns here now and will only shop here for now on.

Not sure about the whole staff, but one worker in particular was very rude and disrespectful. Just because I was browsing what they had in stock he became irritated, assuming I didnt know anything about guns. Then he tries to sell me a cheap 400 dollar gun like I was suppose to be sold off of the price. He also assumed that I was using my tax return money to purchase the gun. Then he started talking about how I can go home and tell my friends Ive held a gun. Just thought Id share my experience, but like I said it was just one worker in particular.

I have been shopping at Canyon Sports for 12+ years. Purchased many firearms there, as well as related products. Always received great service, and never felt cheated. I would like to address a few of the complainers after reading some of the negative reviews.. A. To the person that complained about there always being one person standing around watching the customers. Think about where you are, and what the reason for that might be. B. To the person who complained he was given inaccurate information regarding California law, You would be wise to get your legal information from a lawyer. Canyon Sports is in the business of selling firearms, not dispensing legal advice. Regardless, I doubt that locking your weapon is unsafe or likely to get you into trouble with the law. C. I have never been in the store when there were less than three people behind the counter willing to help me. If you have a problem with tattoos, deal with one of the guys without tattoos. D. Regarding prices. As I stated above, I have never felt cheated. I do my homework before I purchase, and always know what the going price is when I purchase a firearm. If you work hard enough, you can always find a better deal, however time is money and my time is valuable. Sure maybe I could have saved a few bucks by driving to Sacramento or San Jose, but time and gas would more than eat up any savings, particularly when you consider you need to make a return trip to pick the firearm up after 10 days. To sum it up, I have made many purchases at Canyon Sports over a period of many years, have always received great service, have never been lied to or talked down to, always paid fair prices, and intend to continue doing business with them in the future. I recommend them without reservation. (unless youre scared of tattoos)

Canyon Sports has the BEST gun prices anywhere around, hands down! If you find a gun online you want, theyll match price or come real close. Ive been to every gun shop in the Bay area, Canyon Sports is clean and has a huge selection of arms and goodies. So put your big boy pants on and handle your business, or stay home and complain about awful service.

First, Id give this business NO starts but Googles set up to have at least one...who knew?Ok, I.m a very experienced firearm owner, have competed and shot for over 30 years, also am a hand loader.Canyon Sports has perhaps the worst customer service of ANY store regardless of type in the local Bay Area. Jason the manager is a prick, is trying to constantly up sell you into his favorite model of this and that. When asked for help trying to find things among their poorly organized display inventory the service is spotty at best, surly at worst. Cant think of a single reason to visit this store. The owner, Ron is a sweet guy, unfortunately he has put the store in the hands of a guy who actually is menacing, all covered with tattoos and a bad attitude. For example I was going to buy a 1200 buck Kimber 1911, he didnt want to even sell it to me suggesting instead i buy a Les Baer for 4 grand, when i said no he intimated i couldnt afford it. Trust me i pay more in taxes than this schlub makes in a year. I told him to stuff it and have not been back.Bottom line, avoid shop at all costs.

I dont know why this place had so many low ratings. Ive been in several times and each time has been great.The first time I was just looking for a new shotgun for clay shooting, the young guy behind the counter took time to show me models in different price and quality ranges. I know which one Ill be buying come Christmas.I next time I came in I was looking for a holster. I brought my handgun inside a case and they were cool helping me find a good holster, using my handgun as reference since its one they dont carry. Ended up finding one that was practical and affordable, also bought some .38 rounds because they were on sale.The most recent time I took my girlfriend in to shop for a new handgun. The main guy behind the counter, Zack, was super helpful finding the right pistol for her small hands. Price was $25 over MSRP online, but it still seemed reasonable since they helped us so much. I know Triple A sports in Vallejo usually sells at MSRP, but driving to Vallejo and paying 2 bridges tolls isnt worth that small difference for me since I live south of the bridge.Its a great store, and like most gun stores theres busy times where you may have to compete for their attention. But staff is helpful and display cases are well stocked.Dont forget to pet the gun store dog before you leave.

Worst gun shop in the bay area, and Ive been to most of them. This one is closest to my house, but instead of buying ammo here, I buy at the Concord shooting range (United Sportsmans). The first time I went in here, I called to try to ask for directions after missing their industrial-building 4x and driving up and down the road. The response I got on the phone was If you cant find it, dont bother coming in.. This shouldve been my first glaring red flag, and it turned me off, but I was there. I did finally make it into the shop about 5 minutes later after checking all of the driveways one by one to actually find the place. I mentioned that I had just called to the guy asking for directions, and he told me We like it hard to find to keep the N*****s and Sp**s like you out. This caught me off guard, as Im white (but tanned?), and I did a double take to look at him. The guy had the SS tattoos on his arm (White supremacist/Nazi insignias). I left after a few choice words and called his boss whom ive done business with before in a former job of mine.After that, I went back twice when I heard that the guy who told me that was no longer there, but the service wasnt any better. I sat and watched as he berated a guy for about 20 minutes about the benelli autoshotty he was buying and that if he couldnt shoulder it right (so that it would reload) not to come back into this shot b***ching about it...Ive been here a total of 4 times, and each time was just as bad as the first - minus the blatant racism.To the people who say they go there only to buy ammo - DONT BUY YOUR AMMO HERE. Stop supporting this horrific shop, and its horrific behavior. Go to City arms, or United Sportsmans range in concord (MUCH better ammo prices at USI range).Or, just order online and save 50%.
