I drove 4 hours up to this place and it did not disappoint! Super friendly service and the person at the front (which I believe may be the owner?) was happy to give recommendations on what to get. The egg custard was delicious and the pork bun was great as well. The strawberry matcha wasn’t overly sweet, which is a good thing for me, and I was a fan of the honey boba. I enjoyed everything I tried really.Highly highly recommend this place. You won’t regret it! I would be a frequent visitor if I lived closer :)
The Foundry Bakery is one of the best things to happen to the St. Louis food scene in a very long time. The quality of the food at the Foundry easily rivals that of Asian bakeries seen in NYC and San Francisco and the offerings, such as the Portuguese egg tarts, are ones I would not expect to ever encounter in a Midwest city of this size.To boot as well, Ray and Leah are incredibly personable and care deeply about their customers. I appreciate Ray’s perpetual smile and his interest in everybody’s ongoings - every time I’ve ever visited the Foundry Bakery I have had a fantastic time.
Ray and Leah are the nicest owners who make the bestest boba tea and baked goods in town!!! They are always there to welcome customers with a wide smile and are invested in perfecting their products :). I have so many favorites from their bakery, from the iconic pineapple buns to their yummy fruit milk teas to their seasonal shaved ice! Their Taiwanese toast (pictured below) is also super fluffy and goes well with anything sweet/savory. St. Louis is so lucky to have them -- thank you guys so much for spoiling our palates
I’ve been here several times, and I’m always delighted with my purchases. Today, sadly, I got there in between the morning and afternoon batches of their crispy orange rolls (and I didn’t have time to wait for the new batch to come out of the oven). Actually....I’m kind of happy they weren’t ready when I was there, lol, because it forced me to try something new (but if you ever go and they have the crispy orange rolls, absolutely, certainly, without a doubt get them - hoowee!!)Hubba hubba! The Berry bread was fantastic! It was hard stop eating it and my eyes are still rolling around in the back of my head from the joy! Full of blueberries, cranberries, Goji berries and walnuts, it was soft and springy and chewy and, best of all, still warm from the oven when I got it! How fantastic is that!?I got the their seasonal drink the Legrand (they always have several seasonal drinks on their list) and found the bitterness of the oolong tea, the brightness of the strawberries, the smoothness of the mint and the sweet chewiness of the honey Boba I added made the drink very refreshing.I finally got a chance to try their Mango Pana Cotta and I was not disappointed! Creamy, sweet with perfectly ripe mango, it was everything I wantedLest I forget the baked cronut. Holy moly! All those beautiful layers! Yet one more wonderful thing about The Foundry Bakery!
This is a much delayed comment...part of it is because I don’t know how I can adequately describe how amazing the Foundry Bakery is and part of it is becauseI honestly felt possessive of the Bakery and didn’t want to share it with too many people. I have been coming here on and off for about 3 years now. There are just too many favorites that I can’t even keep track of...the strawberry matcha latte, the taro bun, the cronut, the orange bun, the egg tart, the mung bean pong, and all the fluffy bouncy rustic bread. Everything is not only beautiful looking but also incredibly delicious and fresh, with a pinch of care in every bite. In addition, with every visit, you got free chats with Ray, the owner, about just anything and everything. There is no better combo than sugar, dairy, carbs, and a good laugh:) The foundry bakery is definitely a gem of St. Louis, a place that I will travel hundreds of miles back for one day. As I am eating my last pineapple cake from the bakery on my way moving out of the state, I am already feeling nostalgic :’(
I had a great experience here! I loved trying their pastries, they were all new to me. I also go the chai milk tea which was really good and I appreciate that it wasnt filled with ice. They have a good clean environment as well, it was calming. I will definitely be back.UPDATE:I went back again to try the pastries I didnt have the first time and again, they were all fabulous! I didnt have any that I didnt like but my favorites are the bean and taro buns.I had the taro milk tea as well and it was a unexpected as there were pieces inside. That was not enjoyable for me and I wish I realized the taro pieces were inside of the drink beforehand but I understand that is a personal preference. All & all still great but if you are unfamiliar, you may want to sample the menu to see what you will like.
In life, we often question our choices. Should I wear a blue shirt, or a gray one? Should I ask out my crush? Should I visit the Foundry Bakery? Yes you should. Stop second guessing what could be the best experience in your life. Walk right up to the counter to the handsome person behind the register and say with confidence “I would like some bread and/or a drink!” They’ll guide you from there, and from the low point of an empty stomach you’ll be brought to the delicious heaven by products such as the rich egg tarts, the savory umami loaf, and the sweet and zesty crispy orange bun. What better to wash down your amazing choice than with the finest teas and juices in the area. Your ticket to flavor town is waiting right behind the doors of this beautiful bakery! So no longer fear unsatisfactory products, or waste your time pondering “should I?” and go to The Foundry Bakery.
Wife and I love this place. It’s just a bit far away from our place but the bread is so good. Their teas are delicious as well. This time I got the light oolong and yuzu fruit tea, which works nicely. The egg tart was all reserved / sold out by 4:30pmI would recommend preordering by phone or online if there is a bun you reallllllly want.(Recommend the Egg tart - it’s a bit pricey but it’s big and packs a delicious punch)
This is the best authentic bakery for Chinese/Taiwanese baked goodies and bubble tea! Everything is so fresh and made with quality ingredients. Their drinks are so good too! Im so glad there is finally a good place for these treats that are just as good as the chinatowns on the east and west coast Ive grown up going to!
Ive tried most things on the bakery menu and I cant say anything but wonderful things about each item. My husband loves the orange rolls and Im a huge fan of the buns. With COVID going on, we had a pick up order, and they bagged everything up for us neatly to take home and enjoy! It smells amazing when you walk in - I cant wait to go back!
Ive only been here twice, but I love it. The owner/manager is such a sweet man. He personally goes around to the tables to check on customers. He even gave my youngest free taro. It was their (nonbinary) 15th birthday and theyd never had taro before. Now, they cant wait to have it again😄 Also, it smells INCREDIBLE in there🥰. The freshly baked breads, the pastries, the coffee, the tea & everything smells DELICIOUS!So far Ive had the Legrand, Ruby Melon, red bean bun, crispy orange bun & the bun with the custardy pineapple shape top. All excellent! Im taking my husband next😁 Im so happy I found this place! Google doesnt always get it right, but this place is a DO NOT MISS.
Wonderful Asian-themed bakery! We ordered online from NC. It was delivered within two days. We really enjoyed almost all breads and buns. but especially, I really like fruit-inserted bakery products like crispy orange buns, and pineapple gems, which are not too sweet but they are melting in your mouth with fresh fruit tastes! Id buy more breads next time soon online!
Foundry bakery is an excellent place for pastries, bread, and drinks made of high-quality ingredients. Highly recommend! None of my visits were disappointing.
Tried this place for the first time. Even though they were busy, the gentleman who took my order was very sweet and answered my questions nicely. My husband is a picky eater and the gentleman recommended the egg tart which my husband loved! The mango panna cotta was also amazing! I will definitely be back!
I walked into this place last week to grab a bun and tea with a friend. The owner of the shop, who was working front of the house, did not in any way acknowledge that wed even walked in. They proceeded to have a 10 minute conversation with people theyd been talking to when we arrived. Not even so much as a, Ill be with you shortly, which could have gone a long way because I will never patronize this place again and will advise others against it as well. This was incredibly rude and disrespectful. As a small business owner myself, I truly cannot imagine treating a customer in this way.
My Chinese wife order mooncakes for mid autumn festival, they were so delicious and authentic. All their baked treats are very good!
Amazing and fresh Asian baked goods. This is a gem of a place -- we were so impressed with the quality of the pastries that we returned on our cross-country road trip just to visit this place in St. Louis! The owners are super kind and patient in explaining the menu items. Everything is absolutely delicious. We tried all of the pastries, longan walnut bread, Taiwanese pineapple cakes, *huge* Portuguese style egg tarts, and their avocado smoothies. Would recommend it all - you cant go wrong here!
The pastries goods are excellent. The crispy orange bun is fantastic. Not too sweet. Just right. The breads are perfect. An excellent place to meet up. Lots of seating.
Great food and great service. The owners always take the time to talk to us and we enjoyed our time here every single time!
Great bakery with a small “café” bar. The interior smells amazing, they bake everything fresh and the flavors are well executed! Great pineapple bun! I wish I could try all of them! The seating area is good for large groups. There wasn’t a big selection of drinks though, which is fine if you’re not planning on sitting around for long. It’s pricey, but worth it if you love these breads!
The items were fresh and unique to the bakery with great quality. I was uncomfortable about the hand soap issue and could see everyone was very busy. Menu and presentation revisions would be my sincere recommendations. Thank you for your response and customer service for which I will revise my review from four to five.
Delicious boba teas, fruit smoothies, and pastries. We had the crispy orange bun and taro bun. So good! Also the owner/employee was super helpful and patiently walked us through their menu - we could tell they really cared about their products. We will definitely be coming back.
I heard the baker/founder was an award winning baker from Taiwan. Ive had Taiwanese pastry once and loved it so I paid them a visit. I was more than amazed when I saw the choices. Everything was made fresh and delicious. The number of bubble tea selections were so vast that it was actually confusing but the owner was very patient. He even stopped by to ask for our feedback. I hope they do well and will stay in business for a long time.Above was from 2019. I went back today. The berry trio walnut was very delicious. OMG, the no-frill looking mung bean bun was more than amazing. Every bite was so full of a special sweet aroma. Ive found my favorite.
Omg,this place is the best in the planet earth,I always come here and can come everyday if I have a chance. That taro drink and taro pastries or whatever is so delicious.Everything on the shelves is ridiculously good.I ordered a box full of different kinds for gift, guess what? I just put it few minutes on the table....my kids ate it all!!!where in fact I brought some for them too.Now I have no gift....I love the place so bad...
Ive been eyeing this Bakery for almost 3 weeks now and finally I was able to drop by. Owner is very friendly, as a first timer he explained to me how it works. I LOVE the Portuguese egg tart, the crispy orange bun, the Taiwanese Bolo bun, the taro bun and the red bean bun. Ill come back and have some more and will try their tea.
I had my first Taiwanese bakery experience here! I find the desserts to be very tasty and the owner is very kind and generous. Im lucky to have a nice bakery near my job!
This place is pure gem!! Me and my husband arent too big on sweet but just the right amount of ingredients can win over any taste bud...delectable! I have never had such balanced tastes in a bakery here before...was dying to have their umami burst which I have tasted once before at an acquaintances and finally got my hands on it today, and no doubt their orange crispy bun is raved about...that crispy, flaky, just-the-right-amount-of-sweet orange heaven so deserves it and so does the people that bake it ..it was fresh out of oven and we couldnt keep our hands off it for too long and ate it mid way....and thankfully they have varied temperature option for the boba tea and my mocha boba was just apt cold for a throat that goes on a rampant drive of it own with ice and it surely was the best tasting cold coffee Ive had so far...Such warm lovely people serving the tastiest of the tastiest!!They arent heavy on marketing, rightly said so by Ray, may be thats keeping them at the top of their game, but this place deserves a hell lot of word of mouth!!Love people when they stick to their roots and create magic...
What an amazing bakery! Everything I have tried, from coffee, to boba tea, truffles, and cakes, have been incredibly flavorful and lovingly crafted; but even more than that, the inviting atmosphere and genuine care for each customer is the most endearing aspect. If possible, I’d give the Foundry Bakery 6 stars instead of 5! Highly recommend!
Very authentic Taiwanese bakery with legit pineapple cakes, Portuguese egg tarts, delicious bubble tea. Amazing for any city, let alone STL! You can also call ahead to make sure they reserve or make extra of something you love. Amazing service.
Delicious snacks and drinks in a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!
I highly recommend. Amazing customer service. Very helpful in describing items you may not be familiar with. The chocolate cherry bread is AMAZING! We had it for dessert, its decadent. I loved the pineapple gems too. Great variety of delicious drinks. I will be back a lot more.
The owner was extremely kind and helpful. Ended up ordering a ton of drinks and bread for the roadtrip home. Which were also really good. My mother is obsessed with the crystal boba.10/10 would recommend. Will definitely go again the next time Im in town.
Absolutely love The Foundry Bakery. We come here almost every week for bakery or tea. My favorite is Portuguese egg tart!!! Customer service here is awesome!!! The owner is super friendly and remember us by name. Highly recommended!
This place is hard to find with a tiny sign at the storefront and you’ll easily missed it. Pretty much all of the pastries or drinks are homemade and you could tell from the first bite. They might be having a bad day but the gentleman handled it well. Wish you all the luck and we appreciate the quality products you are bringing to the public. Keep up the great work.
The best bakery in St.Louis! Their egg tart and shaved ice are the best!!
Coffees, teas, fruit milks, buns, breads, and tea cakes. A very limited menu, but everything is exquisite and fresh at this Taiwanese bakery. The owners usually behind the counter offering very friendly service. Clean and cozy, with lots of natural lighting, the atmosphere is very light and relaxing. Couldnt ask for a nicer place to enjoy a tea.
UPDATE 4/20/21: Owner is requesting why I rated only 4 stars. According to Google, 4 stars = liked it, 5 = Loved it. I liked the Americano. Wasnt given with a cup sleeve, but no big deal. It was fine and I would definitely go back, and if/when I do I will update.Original:It was great - had an Americano. The bakery smells so good and the options are extremely unique and reminds me of being overseas.I would recommend and I will probably go back and update this review next time I do! Excited to try some of the rolls here.
The best place in St. Louis for boba tea and pastries. Their strawberry matcha latte is a must!! I am soo happy to see you guys doing strong!
Can’t say enough about how AMAZING this bakery is. Everything is made with care. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. All their baked goods and drinks are made from scratch with the best quality ingredients. And they make the best boba tea lattes I’ve ever had!! Blows every other boba tea shop out of the water.
Worst place . The lady was very rude and told us that Nisu milk bun was freshly baked in the morning and refused to take it back or exchange for fresh one . The bun was cold And clearly old stock .
The Umami burst bread was beyond delicious. I have a minor walnut allergy, but this bread was so good it was worth an allergic reaction. Would eat again. Definitely worth the visit if youre in St. Louis.**Edit** My partner who bought the loaf has informed me that it was not the Umami burst but the Longan
I went there for the first time. I tried strawberry mocha latte and hot matcha, both with oat milk and some boba and jelly. I like them both. I made mine(hot matcha) with 25% of sugar and I think its perfect, as I dont like too sugar in general. The owners were very nice and Ray, one of the owners spent some time with us chatting. It was nice of him. I will go there again and recomend this place. I tried red bun bread too and it reminds me of home.
We have been loyal customers since the opening of this local treasure. We never cease to be amazed by the quality of the treats and by the attention to details the owners devote to every product they make. The ingredients they use are so fine, so obviously carefully selected, it’s like they should be in San Fran or NYC. Prices are so reasonable too for the high quality. We tried the new panna cotta shaved ice yumm! I mailed longan breads and taro globes etc to my mom and brothers to Houston, now they want them all the time. I also brought chocolate cherry bread to my son and his in laws in Minneapolis and they actually don’t have anything like this. Keep up the good work Ray! It’s obvious you give 200%.
Great bakery! The pastry and bread selection is delicious!
Worst customer service experience! Waited for over 10 minutes while employee talked to customers at register. This was a very rude way to not take care of the next paying customer. I will not return!
Truly a gem! The owners were so sweet and accommodating, taking the time to explain menu items to us. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu- from the taro bun to the pumpkin spice latte boba. They even had Taiwanese Pineapple Gems, which I hadn’t been able to find ANYWHERE in America. A must-visit for anyone in the St. Louis area!
Very nice bakery with tasty baked goods, freshly made drinks, and very friendly staff! It might be a little difficult to see from the road at first glance, but is well worth the trip. I highly recommend the Crispy Orange Bun. Similar to a cinnamon roll, but not as sweet with a nice glaze and orange flavor in the swirls of the pastry.
Just the kind of bakery/cafe that St. Louis needs! Bubble tea made from fresh brewed premium loose leaf teas (that you can actually taste in your drink, but not too overwhelming/bitter). I had the oolong milk tea with coconut jelly (also appreciated that the jelly wasnt too sweet which is often the case at other places). I also highly recommend the crispy orange bun - it was warm and fresh, flaky, and just the right amount of sweetness. It reminds me of Kouign-Amann pastries that the Dominique Ansel bakery in NY sells. My mom also loves the Taiwanese pineapple gems!
Their boba is wonderful and pastries are seriously amazing. This place is awesome.
So delicious. The owner was very nice and gave me recommendations. The crispy orange bun was excellent. Will definitely be returning!
Hidden gem!!! My favorite place for boba and Taiwanese sweet breads. I enjoy this place because everything taste so natural and real! Unlike those other place were they use those artificial sugary powders for their drinks. They are so friendly and offer sweetness levels for those who like super sweet drinks. The breads are fresh and soft. Been here a few times now and have not been disappointed.
Such a wonderful atmosphere. The owners are so incredibly nice and the service is top tier. The pastries are delicious (I recommend the crispy orange bun!) and the boba is SO good!! The toppings and drink itself are just unmatched in my opinion, come here!! You won’t regret it!
Hands-down the best Asian style bakery in STL! Staff are so friendly there, bubble tea is so legit, and my husband and I love their taro buns and taro globes! They recently had a new item called egg tart, and let me tell you, it is beyond-this-worldly delicious! If you are going to place a big order, I suggest placing an order online or calling in to place the order first because the bakery needs some lead time to make the pastries.
Wonderful breads! Wide variety of new things to try and extremely unique baked goods! And the boba tea is phenomenal!!!!! 10/10 recommend this place to a friend.
The best and closest place I chose to go for my Boba Tea cravings. Not only is it always freshly made, its absolutely delicious. The customer service is really great too
Exceptional bakery and drinks!! Very fresh and authentic. The owners are fantastic people. Strongly recommend
Awesome i love trying the new food experience. They make the best dirty chai lattee. I discovered them by stumbling in just too check them out. I vist after work every fri, it how i start my weekend. I get my latte on my way how, i own my own business just up the street. 😍
Amazing place. Owner is very polite and super friendly.
Amazing service, baked goods were thr absolute best. Cant get bread better anywhere. Drove 45 minutes, well worth it.
So authentic and delicious!!
This place is genuinely the best bakery in St Louis. its not close to my house but I still try to go as often as I can because its very worth it. It always smells amazing, everyone there is extremely nice, and the food is so good every single time. I recommend the genmaicha tea with honey boba, the morning mojito, the cronuts and the egg tart!!
I come here personally for the fruit milk and taro buns :) always a treat
The taro globe is amazing!! They also have a strawberry matcha tea thats really good and I dont like matcha all that much
Foundry Bakery makes our quarantine life much better. We are still doing shelter in place but you can just make a phone call and pick it up; they also do delivery if the order is more than $50.The Chocolate Cherry Bread and vanilla ice cream is the best dessert after dinner (make sure you microwave the bread for 15 sec before adding the ice cream.) The Umami Burst is perfect for making sandwich and it is not the kind you can make it at home. I just ordered the Logan Walnut, very excited. The texture of the bread from Foundry Bakery is much better than the one from Whole Foods and other places in St Louis area. The buns are and taro globe are also amazing!
Wonderful, delicious and absolutely unique pastries that will blow your hair back & borderline change your life. The owners are very kind!
My wife and I come here probably once a week or at least every other week for the delicious pastries and bubble tea. We have yet to try a bread, pastry, or drink we havent liked. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. We honestly cant recommend this wonderful bakery enough!
For a first time visiting, I can say I definitely want to come back. The owners were extremely wonderful and explained everything to me. Super fresh baked bread and freshly made drinks.Get the Cronut! Was heaven!
One of my favorite places to visit.Love there sweet red bean buns.
Amazing bread and drinks. Great family owned business. Cronut and pineapple gem are favorites for family
My go-to place for authentic baked goods and bubbled teas! Lovely.
Everything at this bakery is fantastic. The breads, pastries, and tea are so delicious. They make their own chai that is a must-have. I have been back many times and will continue to support them for a long time!
Fantastic bakery! I havent made it to the bread yet, but the atmosphere is warm and pleasant, and the pastries are delicious.
SO GOOD. it smells divine inside, the milk buns were amazing and the staff was SO NICE! it was my first time there, and i cant wait to go back
Sooooo niiiice! Love their customer service!!!
I love this bakery! The owners are very nice and take pride in their work. The food and drinks are always delicious!
Attended a Meet/Greet here recently, great variety of fresh baked goodies and tons of room for lots of people. Extremely friendly staff. I highly recommend this place. Ive been several times.
Loved the service, the drink and the bakery item.. Will definitely visit again
I have only been a handful of times, which is really a shame because they are close, but they have the best boba Ive had in St Louis and I LOVE their red bean buns!
They use real taro and grate them for their taro milk tea. Nothing artificial, so you wont see the purple colour as youd see in other taro boba. They also have a selection of traditional tea, full espresso bar and baked goods.Baked goods are mostly Taiwanese or inspired otherwise.Great service, had a great experience!
Love the cronuts!
Pure honest mistake on the previous review. 5☆ review for sure. #1 Boba spot.
Authentic Taiwanese dessert
Everything has always been great. We always feel welcome when we walk through the door with service beyond expectations. You taste the quality in their teas. Even my children can tell the difference between their teas versus other places and often request to go here. I hope to see Foundry Bakery in our community for many more years to come and I hope their business continues to thrive.
