Fantastic Service. Had broken pickups in my bass. With a gig coming up, instead of ordering, he took his new pickups out of HIS OWN bass so I could have my bass ready in time. I usually don’t write reviews, but this shop deserves it and more.

Stores like this are becoming rarer and rarer these days. I was so grateful for the knowledge and time the owner spent trying to help me. I went in to get a banjo string. Although he didnt have exactely what I needed he spent time getting to know what kind of banjo I had, how I store it, my music experience (I am a newbie at banjo) and was able to give me wonderful tips. I highly recommend this place - the owner truely has a love for music, the instraments, and his experience will help steer you in the right direction!

Loved my first experience here. I went in with some whimsical ideas on modifying my worn and weary strat. The stock pickups were lifeless, the electronics buzzy, and all the hardware was corroded. At Travis suggestion, and after playing them in his handmade guitar, I decided to try his custom overwound pickups to bring a little more bite and even out the frequency response. I think he said theyre hand-wound, too, which I can only assume matters. He also recommended dressing the frets and changing all the hardware and electronics. Travis was able to get it all done within a couple weeks over the holidays, which is plenty fast to me. When he gave it back, it was truly a new guitar. It plays like a dream all across the fretboard, and the pickups are super smooth and articulate, not too much high-end sting and the midrange slightly beefier. Travis knows exactly what hes doing. It was a pleasure working with him and certainly will not be the last time.

Great place to have in the fox valley! I needed a re string and full setup and I was able to bring it right in- it was done very well! The guitar has never played so well! Done fast! Very reasonable. Excellent knowledgeable people and lots of nice inventory! The drum room is full too!!

I was looking for a Swiss-Army knife of guitars for my band. I am usually a used gear person, but finding the exact requirements was proving quickly to be difficult. I was recommended to Traverse Custom Guitars, and Travis and I talked about what I was looking for in my guitar. I wanted to get a variety of Strat, Tele, and Gibson sounds while having a tele style neck with a strat body. Color was not a high priority, but I wanted sea-foam green/ light blue to match my Yeti cooler. Sure as heck, Travis had the body type but I also notice some bodies that he had made himself from two pieces of various woods and his equipment and tools. He also had a beautiful neck that looked absolutely stunning. Travis gave me a run-down of pickup configurations that would help achieve the sounds I was after. I was initially wanting to go with a HSH pickup configuration but was prudently talked down to a 2 P-rail configuration because I dont use the middle pickups on my other strats, but wanted the P-90 and humbucker sounds as well. He helped me pick out a pickguard and even put custom decals on the head stock. About 3 weeks later, the Bambina was born! She plays better than any of my guitars and can get some warm, sultry tones as well as some good wails. This guitar is perfect for the type of music that Im playing and feels great! After playing it, I noticed that my high e string kept getting stuck on the 21st fret. Travis did not hesitate to take it back and filed the fret and sent me a video of him trying to get the string to catch and the string kept slipping back into place. Travis stands behind his work and I would HIGHLY recommend Traverse Custom Guitars from beginner to expert for a custom-made guitar.

I been looking to start playing Guitar again, but needed something that was of good quality that didnt break the bank. Fortunately, I saw the ad for Traverse Custom Guitars and started inquiring about his selection. Travis invited me in to try a couple of Strats so I could get a feel for the Guitars. He even switched up the necks for me to see if I liked the feel and sound better without charging me. I eventually settled on a SG and have loved it! Im glad I found Travis and appreciate his willingness to spend time from his day and earn my business. Once I feel Im much better at playing, will be buying my next Guitar from him!
