Kelsey is amazing. She remembers your name. No matter what time I’ve been there during open hours she’s constantly cleaning the floors, hallways. Stairs.She’s always been polite, respectful and considerate.

Site was recommended by a friend, told me the girl there genuinely cares about the customer, I had to see for myself. Above and beyond is all I can say. Not only did she find me the best storage, but she taught me some great pointers for storing your items, she said ever play Tetris? Great gal that one!

Super easy online interface made signing up for a unit (and moving out) really simple, and the office staff at this location were really kind and helpful whenever I had a question. The physical property itself was always kept in good condition; hallways always seemed clean, and the elevators were always in working order.

I went to the ExtraSpace storage unit on Willow St. CA and the staff was so incredibly helpful. It was 5:45 and I realized the keys to my friends storage unit were wrong so I had to last minute buy a storage unit for my college stuff. I went online and 1) bought a storage unit for the wrong location 2) couldn’t get the online forms to work 3) by then it was past 6 and the office was closing. Luckily the staff stayed behind and helped me get a refund for the wrong storage unit AND helped me get a prime storage unit on the first floor! I have used PublicStorage before in the area and this place was beyond better because the staff was amazing, the overall units were cleaner, and place felt safer to walk around in. Would definitely recommend.

Russell was extremely rude and hung up on me several times. I simply explained why we were frustrated that notes were not properly updated and have to repeat steps to transfer our account to the business.1. He tells me I have an attitude simply because I had to repeat my concerns.2. Tells me You must be having a bad day so Im going to hang up on you now/disconnecting the call3. I call again and say you did not understand that the frustration I had in explaining over and over with office visits and multiple phone calls, etc, nothing was resolved and he interrupts me, tells me he is hanging up again.I cannot fathom a person like this would be in any position of customer service who would do this to someone who did not raise their voice nor hurl insults that would warrant being hung up on. He provided no alternatives but to keep telling me I had to bring in someone who is no longer with our company.I cannot believe this guy refused to share his name or give me a manager when I asked. I was not rude and I only asked for some alternative in handling our issue. I had to call again to get his name when he did not know it was me that called back....then he hung up on me again.This whole issue has wasted a lot of our time and efforts. I will contact corporate and see what can be done about the incompetent and rude staff member (RUSSELL). Seriously expected more from this location considering we have been a customer for many years.I see he is selective in who he helps nicely and who he decides to speak to rudely without cause.

I just got off the phone with Russell who helped me sign up for a storage unit. I called in earlier with some questions on how the process works, and Russell was notified I was interested in a specific spot so he called to let me know how to make the best decision about it. Renting a space over the phone was very easy - he patiently walked me through each step. He even helped explain each section in the contract I was signing, which I appreciated. I’m looking forward to moving my stuff in!

Scammers! ((Renters beware))I should’ve listened to the reviews before renting a unit at this place. Russell the site employee tried to feed me inaccurate information about what items I could and could not store in the units. Then, he tried to push their insurance by telling me it was a company policy and renters had to purchase it or “could not rent from them” I called their 800 number to confirm the information he had given me and found out it was inaccurate. I went ahead and rented the unit anyway because it was conveniently located but just 4 months after moving into the unit my rates were raised from $87 a month to $95 a month then again 8 months later or at the one-year mark it went from $95 a month to $175 a month. I called the site and inquired about this substantial rate increase and unfortunately they were not willing to do anything about it. I will also post this review on yelp where I should be able to attach images of the rate increase notices sent to me by extra space storage and you can determine whether or not you should rent from this people or considered a better option.

Not as easy to use as the one on Bayshore, insisted I come in before I could use the storage place I booked online and only had limited hours I could do that.Clean and trouble free storage once that was sorted though.

Absolutely amazing! They were patient and answered all of my questions regarding their policies, they took the time to show me the unit so I could get a visual idea of how much space I actually needed! They even showed me how to use the gate which I greatly appreciate it! Even being the cheapest on the market their property is extremely clean and tidy!! All renter seem respectful of people unloading and loading their items from the vehicles. I’ve recommended them to everybody I’ve talked to so far!

Absolutely perfect! I was checking different storage units in the area but this place stood out along with the excellent customer service! I’ve only met Kelsie so far but she was so patient and helpful. I arrived 5 minutes prior to closing but she was as helpful as if the day just begun. She pulled a golf cart back out and toured the facility with me. She made sure I saw all the options available. She stayed much later than closing time to ensure I had everything figured out and that my access code worked properly. It was a real pleasure.

She was honest when I asked her questions about renting, she told me all the benefits of why its important to get insurance. I have mixed feelings about this place. This is a storage place. The price is reasonable and the facility is clean. Sounds great at first.But my experience with Russ has been less than stellar to say the least. Heres what happened. Last summer (Year 2020), I was moving abroad and I had to empty my storage unit. Being somewhat naive, I thought I could simply pay a certain amount of fee and let them empty my unit.To my surprise, I was told by Russ that they cannot empty the unit without me first coming and removing everything that is inside. I was a bit annoyed because all I had was a handful of clothes/shoes/pillows which wouldnt take up more than maybe three small boxes. Not only that, I left the unit unlocked before I left, so they could have simply opened up the unit and see how scarcely it was occupied. But he didnt even bother looking at it even when I pointed out that I had very few things left. And again, I said to Russ that I am willing to pay any reasonable fee if necessary. But no, he was adamant. I couldnt help but to think, If there is a single t-shirt in that unit, would I still need to come in and empty the unit? I ended up not asking this question but I wish I did.It wasnt just his answer that annoyed me. It was his demeanors as well. I still remember the way in which Russ talked to me, condescending, uninterested, as if he cannot care less about me. This was just about the worst customer treatment I ever had *in my life*. He didnt even bother saying something like I am sorry that this happened to you. All he said was that I cant. It was like talking to a freaking wall!In the end, he didnt even budge to look at the unit so I ended up paying almost $300 for letting a garbage collection company remove those three damn boxes. And those guys told me that they were sorry that I had to pay that kind of money to remove just that.Compare Russ to Kelsie, who was amazing and the only reason I gave two stars instead of one. Since I-cannot-care-less-Russ stopped talking to me, it was Kelsie who took over. I was worried that the garbage collection guys may not be able to find where the storage facility and the unit was. She understood my situation and made sure that everything would go smoothly. She volunteered to even wait outside the storage facility for the garbage collection truck and guided them to the right unit. A true lifesaver! She also told me, Sorry you had to call up those guys. There wasnt much in there. She was so helpful and emphatic and I really want to express my gratitude to her.I think Russ can learn a lot from Kelsie on how to treat a customer, and I think this company should definitely consider promoting Kelsie to a position where she can make a bigger impact. She is a star and deserves more.

Great overall experience. The tele-sales at first was not 100% accurate re storage benefits but they got the job done. Ultimately, the onsite manager (in Menlo Park Russell) finished our paperwork and is an expert in the area of storage. he helped us understand all the ins-and-outs of our storage needs and happy we are working with his team and location! 5 stars for Russell and MP team -1 star for tele-sales = 4 stars. :-)

Network is very slow

A person called me and “informed” that there is a rule which is not in my contract and nobody told me about, according to which if I don’t put a lock on my storage in a week they will place a lock themselves and charge me for the lock and mail. It’s a little scam, as locks are sold and keys shipped at premium. Beware of this behavior.

This place is a RIP off,the only thing they do is raise the price.There security is a joke,any body with a unit can access other units no cameras.I have items removed mostly tools and electronics.Nothing done.On a 292 dollar unit late fee 250 late fee.They dont confirm electronic payments like they should.Watch Out.

Today I had to downsize units at 1520 Willow Rd. In Menlo Park . When I arrived at the office Liz greeted me by opening the door! She was so upbeat and positive that the whole experience was actually fun. She was totally efficient, helped me chose the right size unit for my remaining things and then sent me on my way an unusually happy customer. She is a keeper!

He made a typical painful process fun and positive.This was one of the most positive customer service experiences I have had in a long time. I had my ups and downs with different storage locations. Believe me I got stories, like most people most arent good. However working with Kelsie at the Palo Alto/Menlo Park location made my experience a good one. Always answering my questions and concerns, explaining the pros and cons, and the benefits of their location. She always has a smile, is very professional, and on a good day has jokes. Whenever I had a problem, she was always trying to see what could be done to better assist me. Its hard to get good service now a day, so I am never disappointed when Kelsie is there to help. I recommend this location because you get nothing but the best and real customer service with a smile.

I just rented a storage unit from the Extra Space Storage at 1520 Willow, where Felix is the manager and his wife, Rene, is also working there.After I reserved a storage unit online, I received a confirmation via email right away and also a reminder of the date. My first impression about this facility when I first got to the office was that Felix welcomed me with a smile and explained everything very clear to me and set up my account. He showed the unit, the floor plan and ways to access my unit.I drove a couples of times to bring my stuffs to the unit. Every time I was there, I usually saw Felix checking and maintaining the facility and his wife cleaning the place. No wonder the facility always looks clean and neat.At one time, I had to go to my unit late at night (around 9 pm) and I expressed my concern about the safety at night, both Felix and Rene assured me that the place was safe and informed me that the police station was on the opposite of the road. The information did help me feel better.Since I just moved to the area, they also gave very useful information regarding where to visit, have good food, or donate some stuffs.Felix and Rene, thank you for being so helpful and keeping the facility clean.

I have been a renter until last month for the last three years, I no longer needed storage but almost wished I did because of the excellent experience that I had there. The managers Renee and Felix Moya are so sweet and helpful, professional yet so personable. I will miss them both, and for anyone that has storage needs, this facility is clean and well maintained, online services easy and user friendly and again management cant be beat. Driving up to cal with a mattress and box spring on the car and stopped at this place to fix the mattress.. one of the workers, Renee (sp?), came out and was EXTREMELY helpful, patient, and proactive. She gave us a rope kit and helped us reinforce the mattress!! Excellent service!

Looking for a place to store your stuff? Then youve come to the right place! Renee and Felix are awesome people! They are friendly and sweet people! I came inquiring about storage since I work right around the corner from the storage place. Its in a convenient location, right off the Dumbarton and near the 101. Theres also a Starbucks across the street! Store your stuff and then get some coffee! I recommend people to come here to store their things!

Rented a 10x20 unit for 16 months to store full household of furniture. Location is fairly convenient relative to major roads. They raised prices three times during the 16 months, ended with $571/month. Front desk is fairly helpful but we didnt ask much of them so cant give assessment there. Besides being extremely expensive, it was a good experience for the first 12 moths...When I recently returned to the unit to move out, I discovered rats or mice had laid droppings everywhere. While our stuff was well-packed and we incurred very little permanent damage, the extent of contamination was ridiculous. Once we moved everything out, the entire floor was covered in droppings. I also noticed large rodent traps around the entire facility that werent there before, so I am assuming this a new development.When I brought this up to management, the head lady at the front desk did not take responsibility for the issue, and suggested that we likely caused the infestation due to food items stored in the unit. We have never stored food items in the unit. This is a property-wide issue at this facility and its awful. The fact that the local management doesnt want to own it is unfortunate for the Extra Space brand at large, and we let corporate know.Before you consider storing anything of value here, make sure you review the contractual terms to ensure the facility assumes liability for rodent infestation. My guess is that they wont since they know they have a huge problem, and you should take your business elsewhere.
