Be prepared to wait for a table if you want to eat at this little sushi joint located inside of the Japanese market. Though pricey, the omakase sushi was some of the best sushi Ive had on either coasts.

This is the place to go for traditional Japanese sushi. If you have been to Japan and enjoyed the food this is the place for you. The ambience is non-existent because you are sitting in a small Japanese market (convenience store). The food is outstanding and at a very reasonable price.Additionally, the family that runs the restaurant are incredibly hospitable and dutiful. I is always a pleasure to see them.I would definitely recommend this place to people that appreciate good food and are well traveled.

Everything is so fresh and delicious. The prices are so inexpensive, you almost feel guilty. Polite employees that always genuinely thank patrons. Groceries are also very affordable. I LOVE THIS MARKET/SUSHI Restaurant.

Best sushi in Miami! The food is fresh and delicious. I know people may criticize them for their no-phone policy but I appreciate the respect they have for food and their customers. There is usually a wait here but you can get sake or snacks from the grocery area and chat to other diners waiting for a table. The sushi is so yummy that it is totally worth the wait.

The food is really good. I love the rolls. The rice in the roll is nicely steamed. The fish meat and the shrimp are fresh. But be ready for the bad survive. They are very busy. Only five people are running the whole market and restaurant. They dont even have time to refill my water. And it takes a long time to wait for the food. We spend about one and half hour to eat there. But if you dont mind the time and survive, its definitely a good place to have your meal.

This is probably one of the best places to eat on the East Coast of the United States. Thats not hyperbole. People travel from around the world to sample the masters sushi. Just say omakasa—Ill let you decide. The bill wont be outrageous and a small fraction of what youd pay with any other of the worlds top masters.BTW theres only 12 seats (a lot easier to get in than when it only had four).

Amazing fresh sushi. They get super busy though. So you have to order everything at once and you are only allowed to order once. The market offers lots of food items like whole BBQ eel and sake variety

The Japanese Market on 79th street is the only authentic Japanese restaurant I have ever been to in South Florida. Family-owned and managed, it is cozy and very low-key. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced, and you can also buy a wide range of Japanese products if youre looking to cook at home.

Good sushi; idiosyncratic customer service. I can handle all the rules once inside the store, but I have never heard of not telling somebody how long the wait is at 2pm if I call. Strange policy. Made me not want to go back. Id rather drive further and go to Dragonfly Sushi in Doral where the service is outstanding and so is the food.

Excellent Sushi, very fresh, and different. So tasty. I tried several times to get in but was too packed. Now I know why. Maybe owners were not expecting to be so popular. Get there early to sign in. Great experience and I like the rules. And I agree with them. Dont talk on phone - its annoying, some people are really loud. Will go out of my way to go back again.

Had a the worst F-ing experience. Wish there was a 0 star. Walked in at 4:05pm and was told closes at 4:00pm when all search engines say 5:45pm. Instead of apologizing for the confusion and seating us was told to go online and change it myself. My career is to recommend the best places in Miami to the highest net worth individuals, Japanese market is not worth the terrible guest service. Do not go!

I am Japanese and I love to come this place anytime so I can feel home, real Japanese atmosphere. I love to have lunch at this place, sushi, tempura, Japanese curry. I always buy thin sliced beef and pork with the other things. Because their meet tastes amazing and great for cooking sukiyaki, Nabe, and butashabu salad. Even if you dont cook Japanese, just try the thin sliced meet with any kind of cooking you can and you will know its amazing taste. The owner and his wife are Japanese. They are very authentic people and have beautiful Japanese spirit. They serve you high quality food. Very clean and organized. The best Japanese Market in Florida.

The food is fantastic! The customer service is really disappointing! And in addition it seems to be in a prison with all rules and tough guidelines. They should be proud to show the kindness of the Japanese but with all these no no rules they really make the experience difficult to get happy. They even refuse to sell you as to go food that is really not to be prepared (Ice cream)! Ruined a party because of the new no rule about not selling to go! (Even the desserts! I.e. Mochi Ice cream). I understand that you cannot do the to go food for sushi as the chefs are really busy, but the to go of ice cream in a place that is called Japanese MARKET, it is really disappointing that they do not do it anymore! And really disappointing to get Japanese so tough service in a place that may be the best Miami place for sushi! They really disappoint you for so many rules! That is no proof of good Japanese kindness.. Even if the food is really fantastic. ;-(

The sushi is top 3 in the city but the service could be better, except for the father and daughter that make the sushi they are always pleasant and with a smile on their face. If you dont mind having mediocre service try it out because you will be blown away by the freshness of the sushi!!

This is for the people who are really wanting some good Japanese food, this is by no means a trendy spot. Its a no frills Japanese market that happens to serve food at their own terms. That being said i love the food and the atmosphere is actually awesome in its own bizarre way. I love the fact that i can order single sashimi, nigiris and create my own meal. They always use good stuff and you can really feel the quality in everything they serve. And comparing to all the other sushi places in Miami you wont get anything better. Ask for their special sashimi platter for 2. It is worth it.

Damn good. This place is a bank account buster but I must say it competes for my best overall dining experience ever. The restaurant is tiny and only takes a select few for dinner. I was fortunate enough to have a very generous friend (DWONGZ) treat me and some buddies to a very nice dinner here. When sushi is served on ice sculptures it just tastes better. The toro was out of this world and the kobe grilled in front of us was bliss. Ill come back, when Im ballin

This place has very good fresh sushi, as matter fact my friend sells them the fresh tuna and other seafood, so I know for fact that this is the best place to go eat sashimi or sushi. If it was based on the food itself, I would give them 5 stars. Now, my grandfather told that he would eat ok food if the customer service was outstanding, but guess what, he would not eat in a place were food was outstanding and customer service was dismal. As you can tell the reason for taking 80% of the stars is because service is this place sucks, specially the lady at the register.I believe shes the owners wife, but she treats customers as a despot or tyrant. This is not Tokyo or Japan for that matter. She should get some tropical blood in her, to warm her personality and not treat people with such dislike. If she does not like her customer, specially those that are repeats, then she should not be in business. This is my humble review and forgive me if Im being direct, but this lady would not allow my wife to purchase miso soup to go for my daughter at Miami hospital with ulcerative colitis (colon cancer), even after my wife had explained my daughters situation and only thing she like or could eat. This lady was lucky I was not there when she treated my wife with such tyranny. Believe me, I will let everyone I know in my synagogue and people in Treasure Island and surrounding areas not to go to this place until this lady learns so good manners.

Great sushi, atrocious service. Upon arriving, the mom of the operation told me that i needed to throw away the evian water that i brought in with me from the car. So I asked her where the garbage was, and she said outside by the bus stop. I really thought she was joking, but after a stare off, I succumbed and did the walk of shame out the door thru the grass and threw away the water bottle. I can honestly say Ive never been treated that way in any restaurant, but i guess thats her interpretation of good service. If the sushi wasnt soo good, i would never come back. But it is pretty good and the father of the operation really knows his stuff.
