I have worked with Marc twice so far. The gems are amazing. For both stones, I was able to use his descriptions and videos to judge quality and color. (I feel I have a near expert eye). Buying a genuine Alexandrite was looking to be a daunting search. If you have ever looked online for Alexandrite there are so many possibilities some for practically free others for tremendous sums. I did as much research as I could on my own and found Russian stones were nearly impossible to come by and if you did there was little documentation on the stones and they could be extremely expensive or again very cheap. The mines it seems in Russia are not producing and it looked like Brazil was the place for high quality Alexandrite again information was limited and without a real person to talk with it was hard to make a decision.I found Africa Gems and spoke with Marc who was very easy to talk with and a font of knowledge. I knew after just a few minutes of conversation I found someone I could trust and work with to find the right stone.Marc helped me to choose the perfect stone. Only 1.31 karats it is an amazing color changer with tremendous color. I know it will look beautiful when set and my wife will love it. We have been married for 41 years and she was born in June and she has a lot of pearl jewelry but I never could pull the trigger on buying an Alexandrite as they always were really small and not very pretty stones that we came by until now.My sale was quick and I received my stone the next day in perfect condition and it looks even better than the photos and videos Marc showed me.If you are serious about buying a gem stone I would recommend working with Marc at Africa Gems. Being someone not located in the States, it was tough to find a trusted company to make my ring. However, after numerous research, I came across AfricaGems. They had a whole lot of really good reviews and hence, I have decided to try my luck with them. Boy, I was not disappointed. Bought an alexandrite gem with them and got Marc to make it into a ring as its pretty hard to find a jeweller in my area.His replies are fast and professional. Wow. We met Marc in person to see a stone. We negotiated the stone over several days and he agreed to a CASH price and told us to send over our information. He never sent us an email. We reached out to confirm and after a lengthy negotiation he sells the stone from under us! We risked going out in a pandemic to see a stone and he sells it from under us. It’s terrible business and just plain rude. Do yourself a favor and don’t negotiate with Marc. He is the worst and will likely just waste your time. He is just a middle man. Shame on you Marc. Shame.

Negotiated a stone with Marc just to have him sell it from under me. Bad business and very rude. Marc is a terrible negotiator and doesn’t care about his clients. Don’t waste your time with this guy.

My husband bought me a citrine set for my birthday. It looked really beautiful on their website. When it arrived we were very disappointed with the quality of the jewelry, size and color of the stones. Small, pale yellow.We contacted them same day to explain that we did not approve the quality and asked for the pre-paid return label. Mark replied with a stamp. com label. It was not a pre-paid one and he did not explain us anything.We asked him again and he responded that this was the shipping label.When I went to the Post Office with that label, they told me it was NOT a pre-paid label and I needed to pay for the return cost.I sent him an email asking to please send the cost with the refund. I did not hear from him back.We waited from Wednesday (when he received the package) to Monday - as it was the thanksgiving weekend.Monday there was the refund in our account but Mark did not include our return shipping costs.It is not the cost of the return shipping we paid but his unresponsive attitude during the return process that made me leave this review.

This place is horrible never ever trust them! owner is dishonest !!! Stay Away
