This place was one of my dads favourite spots in Bury St. Edmunds since he lived there. Everytime we went, it was always pleasant, and the environment was always lively. Kev was the bar tender everytime we went, and is always humorous and a very fun conversationalist. Oh, and hes a VERY good photographer- make sure you ask him for a photograph 😉Ill be sure to stop by again as much as I could.Thank you for being apart of our dad and always keeping him company
Fantastic little pub and very friendly.
Loved this little place could quite happily have stayed all evening but had booked a table for food elsewhere. Decent prices, loved sitting on the section of the street. Would love to return.
Smallest pub I know, great beer, good staff, and when the weather is good its lovely and relaxing.
I enjoyed a really nice pint at the Nutshell, the seating area was nice enough, the gentleman serving boasted very smart attire and provided a good polite prompt service.
Lovely, even though we had to sit outside! Great service, fresh tasty Amstel
Seating outside. Lovely range of drinks. Very beautiful
The UKs smallest pub.Not sure what I can add that hasn’t already been said.I visited the pub recently after living in the area for some 20 years! It has a lot of character and the barman was very knowledgeable and happy to discuss the history of the pub and answer the many questions I had! Some things to look out for include a mummified cat and rat!!If you’re in Bury St Edmunds then you have to pop in here!
Great beer, quirky little place and the friendliest bar tenders
Epic, nice large snooker room!
The smallest pub in Britain. You must grab a pint at this iconic spot. The staff are great too.
Great little pub lots of history
Never been in but always a good few people outside and seems a very jolly place. Steeped in history too. And one of the smallest pubs around.
Very well dressed staff I must say
Lovely, smallest pub Ive been to but great beer, and great service.
Cracking little pub, literally, with some really interesting artefacts on the walls. Lovely friendly staff with a nice outside terrace
Currently outdoor drinking only; a few tables and chairs in a designated area outside the pub. The usual Covid rules apply. Table service. Greene King; Abbott was very nice, but expensive. Expect to pay London prices at the UKs smallest pub and tourist attraction.
Quirky little place. Landlord is a character.
Fantastic hospitality, lovely place to have a drink on a sunny Saturday afternoon
Great little pub, the smallest in England apparently.
Lovely staff, cutevpub
Friendly service, cracking Greene King options.
Nice experience sitting outside. Quality barman...
Such great character in this historic town. Its a must see on the square.
Great service great food will defo visit again
Intriguing pub. Well worth a pint or two. So tiny....but it even has a toilet. Kev the barman was dry but a great member of staff. Brought us out umbrellas when it drizzled. Top man
Rude and patronising service. Born and bred in Bury and never taking anyone there ever again
The atmosphere of the area outside the Nutshell was extremely friendly and our table and chairs were cleaned before we sat down. (Due to the Covid-19 issues and the very tiny pub, there is a now a seated area outside, roped off, due to social distancing)We were brought a list of drinks available, which included nuts and crisps. All drinks are ordered and brought to your table by a very friendly bar man Paul. He is well liked by his regulars, who are so glad that the doors of the Nutshell are again open. Maybe not quite the same as being in the bar, but everyone was glad to be back, to some sort of normality.Great friendly welcome, from one of the smallest pubs in Britain. Go and see for yourself.
Quaintest little pub to visit.
Great little pub with very friendly land lady. Green king abbot ale great
The nutshell is a tiny pub but a big heart the bar staff are friendly and kind and upstairs there is a loo this pub os lovely and a great place to have a rest after a day out in Bury S.t Edmunds or just to pop out for a drinkFun fact .....They once fitted 101 people and a dog inside that tiny pub using the upstairs of course. Now thats amazing.
Used to be the smallest pub in the world, but Guinness changed the criteria to include bars! Now the smallest pub in Britain. Quirky and small! Mummified cat and entertaining barman. Excellent pint of Abbott ale, as the brewery is just up the road!
Staff very welcoming, cheerful beer good lovely ambiance
I have been drinking in the Nutshell on and off for years now. The pub was empty when I fancied a pint and I walked in saying to the barman- Sorry for making you busy. I had my spot-on pint, read the walls and ceiling as per and carried on my day. Recommended
Best Guinness in town
Definitely worth a visit if youre in town. Very quirky, can be put off if you dont like a bit of a squeeze as its full (obviously with a small number of people) most of the time. We went early Sunday evening, it was quiet, just three others when we arrived, but had about 20 people in by the time we left.
Sooooo small. Definitely worth a visit
Lovely little pub the smallest pub in great Britain it really is wonderful and what you see when you are inside if you can get in is truly amazing its full of all sorts not giving anything away find out for yourself. Dainty quaint.
Rudest staff ever encountered in my life
Tiny but awesome!!! We went in today with our 10 month old daughter, everyone was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Thanks!
Lovely little pub the smallest pub in great Britain it really is wonderful and what you see when you are inside if you can get in is truly amazing its full of all sorts not giving anything away find out for yourself. Dainty quaint and lovely.
Quaint, and full of character. Dont be surprised if you find yourself squahed in a corner
Very small, very quaint & atmospheric. Nice ale and theres something special about this tiny bar/pub...
A fun little pub in Bury St Edmunds, once holding a record for its small size. The decor is as random and fun as its patrons inside, but the ale selection is very limited...serving usually just Green Kings Abbot ale and IPA.Prices are average for most English pubs.
Well its different not a lot of room ☺️ John
I love this pub. Anyone who gives fewer stars because it has a limited choice of beers and spirits, bear in mind, it’s a very small pub - the smallest (if not, one of them). I mean, what do you expect.
Smallest pub in the country! Yet managed to fit about 20 of the wedding party in but it was then a very tight squeeze. Lots of things going on in this place with cats hanging off the ceiling to all sorts of different currency stuck to the walls. Youll have to see it for yourself and anywheres worth visiting at least once though right?
Brilliant little Pub. Come from out of the area. Made very welcome. Going back very soon. Might be more expensive, than weatherspoon opposite, but bundles more friendly. Guess you have to be. Thats what Pubs are about. See you soon
I love the fact people actually talk to each other in here. Its such a very cute small pub. Great atmosphere.
Just like any regular pub in this small market town of Historic Bury St Edmunds, but TINY!!!Loved by regulars as much as tourists.Well worth a visit just for the fun of it👍👍
Still a special Pub to visit,!
A unique friendly pub - the smallest in Great Britain. A lovely welcome - the walls and ceiling is covered with memorabilia. A relaxing atmosphere - friendly staff. Cant believe the T-shirts are still £10 after 15 years !!!!!!
At one stage we managed to get 16 in the pub. Yep, it can confidently claim to be the UKs smallest pub (it also says it takes coach parties, though we suspect thats a tongue in cheek claim) :-)If you want character, conversation and a mummified cat, oh and a good pint. Then this is definitely the place to come.Youll have a great time. We did, and well be back
Almost a novelty... But the good people and unique atmosphere suck you in.Not much space. But still a great time!
Staff were lovely, locals and visitors alike very friendly. If I lived closer this would be my local. Drinking pub
Quirky. Smallest pub in Britain. Its certainly small. Service was fine. Not a great choice of spirits.
Fabulous little pub with top quality beer. Landlord does everything to make customers feel welcome. A quirky English gem.
Great fun and a really nice treat for me when I visit this area. I always pop in for a couple if pints and have met some fantastic people over the years.
Best beer for breakfast and barkeeper was a wonderful host. Even fit a plan and 5 adults in there! Absolutely the tiniest tavern on the Island
Lovely little pub with lots of interesting things to look at and talk about with a very knowledgeable landlord... If you are feeling adventurous, you could book a table for 3...
Great little pub. Good for a quick pint. No beer garden or food though!
Great pub. Lovely atmosphere. Quirky interesting decor.
Small (apparently Britains smallest pub) but nice. Definitely worth a visit - dont bring too many of your mates because they wont fit in.
Good beer friendly atmosphere. Quirky
Friendly quirky LITTLE place. Enjoyed the nutshell shuffle
Cosy atmosphere - compact & bijou! Never more than a step away from the next pint. ...literally!
Great little Gem in lovely old Country Town.
I have always enjoyed a visit to the Nutshell. Well kept beer, served as it should be from a hand pull. Always have a pint there when in Bury
It may be the smallest pub in Britain but they are big on customer service. The staff are friendly and they really look after you. The barman also knows how to serve the perfect pint of IPA as it always go down a treat with me.
In your life you must visit this place at least once. Wonderful.
Awesome bar. It may be tiny but it has everything you need in a pub
First time of going to Nutshell Pub in Bury St.Edmunds, its so small, but cosy and friendly
Crowded with 10 people. One of the worlds smallest pubs... seriously tiny. Prob one of the worlds oddest pubs. Their is a dead cat stapled to the ceiling really. Beer was well kept though and staff were friendly. 3/5 and worth visiting even just so you can say you have.
