From the start things seemed off. Ended up paying two deposits because the artist (Jon) forgot that I had already paid one, then they “couldn’t find” my first deposit which was done on a credit card. Most of the sessions I went in were spent on sizing, reprinting, or doing consultations for other people. Always started late and didn’t get much done. The tattoo ended up turning into something it wasn’t supposed to be and much bigger than it was supposed to be. Although the work that was done was good, the amount done for the price is quite insane. My appointment was rescheduled without informing me or confirming it would work. So I Called 5 days in advance to reschedule and made 4 different attempts over a two week period to reschedule. The tattoo had a deadline it needed to be done by and I’m left with a giant outline with two months to finish. So at the end of the day, a large amount of money and about 17 hours in sessions into a tattoo that’s maybe 1/3 of the way done. Was forced to find a new artist to finish the work by the deadline, not worth the hassle of choosing this shop in the end. Usually every time you go in they have you give your id, take your temp, and have you sign paperwork, the last time I did none of these things. Most unprofessional shop I’ve been to.

Unprofessional behavior from owner & tattoo artist.What should have been an hour long visit took 3hrs. I can see I’ll need to go in somewhere to get my tattoo fixed professionally.The line work is terrible. The artist claimed my skin didn’t take it in…I’ve never had this issue with any of my dozen tattoos. Our artist was not paying attention & kept purging about her personal life. We would have walked out if they had taken payment immediately…there is a sign saying absolutely no refunds what-so-ever. We ended up staying…My tattoo looks terrible, the service was exhausting, and sloppy.I had mentioned something to them about it taking a while and my tattoo “turned out crappy” but my friends looked just fine…I don’t want to think they’d intentionally ruin my tattoo but all signs point to sabotage or I was this ladies “warm up”Do not recommend.Still upset two weeks later.

Jamie tattooed me, and it was a great experience! It was my first tattoo, so I was nervous, but her confidence and experience really put me at ease. She explained everything, and I love my tattoo! Would definitely recommend her!

I reached out because I loved Mario’s work. I scheduled an 6:00 consultation appointment on Wednesday. I arrived on time and he wasn’t there. The employee there said he was trying to contact him but wasn’t having any luck. I stayed around for an hour only to finally say “screw it” and left. I emailed them again telling them he did not show and haven’t gotten a response since.Shame since I really liked his work. Not worth bending over backwards when there are plenty of other great parlors around.

Wanted a small tattoo and ended up paying $150 deposit. Then I got a message from the tattoo artist 30 minutes before my appointment saying that the shop was closed but he could still get my tattoo done at his studio and he was only taking cash. I asked how much it would be in total and he said it was going to be another $150, so $300 for a small tattoo. I asked for my refund back because the prices were ridiculous and I didn’t want to get my tattoo anywhere else if it wasn’t at the shop and they refused to give me my refund back because “policies”. The prices are ridiculously high and unprofessional employees.

Booked a tattoo for 4pm paid my $50 deposit. Showed up at 3:45 and my artist took a walk in at 3 and didnt finish it yet told me to come back in a hour. I came back around 5 told me he still wasnt done and told me to wait another hour. I asked for my $50 back and he made a fuss and said he would talk to the owner. Never got that back... I honestly wouldnt have an issue with any of this if the artist would of just told me in advance. He had my phone number because we texted that morning about the tattoo. He could of easily texted me at 3 asking me to show up later or reschedule.

Moving Shadow Ink houses Milwaukee Tattoo Removal. Today was the second time in two months I showed up to an appointment to find no one in the shop. Business owner is either unable or unwilling to maintain appointments. Ridiculous.

This was the most embarrassing excuse for a tattoo parlor or business, that I’ve ever seen. The artist I started working with was Mario, easily one of the best tattoo artists in Milwaukee. But when I came in for my appointment I was left in the lobby waiting for 4 hours as a young girl, who looked to be a minor ran around looking like a chicken with her head cut off. When Mario finally came out of his office he was barely competent, slurring his words to the point where he was basically inaudible and barely able to keep eye contact. He rushed the appointment and charged me 500 dollars for 30 minutes of tattooing and 90 minutes of “I’ll be right back” and disappearing. This happened every time I came in for an appointment, other than the times where he straight up canceled after hours of not being able to get in touch with him. This process continued for over a year, on a tattoo that he estimated would take about 20 hours. I ended up just getting it finished at a different shop but, never even got an acknowledgment from Mario wondering why we weren’t scheduling appointments anymore. This was the most unprofessional, filthy, and sad workplace I’ve ever seen, basically run by underage teens riding on the incompetence of their addict boss.

After extensive research on internet and friend referrals we decided on Moving Shadow Ink. Initial consult was quick and painless. Showed Jon our design, discussed sizing, colors and options and set a date for both me and my wife. Jons work is beyond simple complements. Everyone there was great, helpful. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

Moving shadow is the best tattoo shop around. I have had a wonderful experience with Lola. She removed all 7 of my tats leaving absolutely no scarring or marking. My skin looks amazing! Pricing extremely reasonable. Now I am ready to get tatted by Mario who does amazing work!!! This place has become my second home!

For my first scheduled consult the artist never showed. I was then rescheduled with a different artist. When is arrived for that appointment, I waited an hour before finally walking out. For both appointments I was stood up. Do not use this place!

I will never go back to this place for a tattoo again! I wanted a tattoo with my kids name and the girl that did it did a horrible job. She didn’t even properly fill the name in with black tried to draw a heart and it doesn’t even look like a heart. She also had me flex my arm when it should have been relaxed so now the tattoo is all off centered. Now I’m gonna have to spend like 300+ just to get it fixed. She told me that I could come back in a month and she would fix it for me but in all honesty I would rather just pay money to have somebody else do it the correct way. Not to mention it’s not even what I asked for she drew something up for me and don’t get me wrong I did like the concept but I would’ve liked it better if it was done right. I asked for watercolor and it doesn’t look anything like watercolor. i’m just so disappointed that I spent $200 on this tattoo and now I have to go spend more because I have to get what she did fixed.

I got an itty bitty tattoo today when the shop first opened. Pretty sure I was the first person there. I worked with the apprentice who was very professional throughout the consultation process--she made sure she had the design and placement I wanted. She was great about giving me advice for how to prepare for the day. When I came in for the tattoo, her attention to detail was so high quality that she adjusted the template a tiny bit to make sure it was straight on my wrist. She was considerate, quick, and kind. Would definitely work with Courtney Meier again!

They are so warm and welcoming. I hate when tattoo places treat you with a cold, closed off attitude like it doesnt matter whether youre there or not. The dots above the is were supposed to be hearts.Cant say for sure but the arrow tip and the heart because it was a shaded area Im not sure if they went too deep but they both got infected and my heart the red fell out and scabbed over so I pretty much lost all the red in the heart

Shop is extremely clean and the artists are more talented than anyone else Ive seen. Love that their artwork is displayed throughout the shop. Ive gotten tattoos and piercings here and I havent been disappointed. The piercer went through the aftercare thoroughly and also gave me a card with the instructions as well. Ive had no problems with the piercing and my tattoos look FANTASTIC.

I recently had my nose piercing done here and I had a wonderful experience! The facility was very clean, organized, and they were very thorough with piercings and the healing/care of them. Likewise, the lady who pierced it (Lexie) was so sweet and understanding. I strongly recommend anyone who wants a piercing at an affordable cost, in a SUPER clean environment, with great staff!

I was a last minute walk-in, and was lucky enough to get a perfect tattoo done by Cisco! The artists here really pay attention to the details, and give you great stylistic suggestions without being pushy. I came in with an existing design, but have seen some of their own design work and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for fine details and quality linework. I never fail to get compliments on my piece when its shorts weather!

Its been a couple of years since I had my tattoo done by Jon, and though it was not what I wanted at all and was done so poorly, I was afraid to go back to see if anything could be done to fix it.

***Dont go to this place if you expect good service!!! ***My artist was alright, work well done, but the store is not willing to return my deposit $50, which is supposed to go towards my payment. I had one small tattoo and paid for my service in full on that day. I decided not getting another tattoo and requested for my deposit return. The receptionist said if the artist is okay and they can return my deposit electronically. I later talked to the artist. He is totally okay with that. After a week I checked back with the store because I did not receive my refund. The same receptionist said the owner would only give store credits. I confronted the receptionist about the different advising she gave me earlier. She said she understood but its up to the owner to decide and refused to let me talk to the owner. I finally reached out to the owner. I explained my situation. He said he doesnt care what I think of what a good business is. He is not going to issue any refund. It is just $50...and they did not provide any service for that. I dont understand why returning this deposit would be a issue. Anyways, strongly dont recommend this place because of their terrible customer service.

Just got a tattoo there from Mario! I walked in and first thing I noticed was the place was very clean and welcoming. The staff was extremely freindly and made me feel comfortable. While waiting for Mario to get ready I was able to watch movies on two huge flat screen tv’s which was pretty cool. Mario did an amazing job with my tattoo and could not be more happy with my experience. I already wait to go back and get another! I highly recommend this place to all my friends and anyone thinking of where to get there next tattoo!

Cisco is the greatest tattoo artist I’ve ever had. The tattoo barely hurt. He was quick. My lines are awesome and strong. He will be my permanent artist.

Been to many tattoo parlors before. This shop had a great reputation, but if you stop in there and they dont know you, prepare to have them put up a huge front. Great artists there, but theyre not top-notch. They should learn to swallow their egos so they can bring more business.

I have been going here since Mario opened the shop with small humble beginnings. Mario looks for artists to push the the next generation of tattoo artists in Milwaukee to the best of thier talents. You pay for great art so expect to pay for an excellent tattoo. The shop has always been clean with friendly staff. The art is unique to Mikwaukee native Mario Z that hangs in the mini gallery. If you want a detailed piece it does take time to draw and prepare unlike TV where its cut n edited. Do not expect to walk in and have a huge back piece completed the same day. When you want quality you want it done right. They do take walk ins as well based on the size of the piece. The staff is busy but there is an off season too. Each artist sets their own schedule. Lexie is awesome with piercings too.

Got my tragus pierced and Lexie was super super nice!!! So lovable and outgoing, made me feel so much more comfortable. The whole atmosphere is great and I would definitely go again! Pricing is great too! Highly recommended!!!!!

Worst experience ever and Ill never ever going back there again!I had and appointment and was there 10min before and when Jon got there my surprise that he had another client at the same time, so unprofessional and disappointing and s big shame. This shop used to be the best one maybe two years ago but now Ill go to a real professional shop. He was clearly being racist and preferred to make the tattoo to another person.
