I ordered my SLR 680 back at the end of Sep. it arrived and broke in 2 days. Sent it back, and now it’s November. Over a month later. These guys don’t know how to communicate or won’t do anything unless I email them and wait a day for a reply. And then they just say it will be soon…. Should have ordered from elsewhere…

Delivery was really fast, although international with customs involvment. And then - unboxing a Sonar as good as new! I immediately went for testing and am really happy with my purchase: it works perfectly. I ordered it converted to use 600 film and the exposure is spot on. Also the customer service related to my order has been so fast and helpful, so thanks a lot to Ryan and the guys who did the marvelous work on the camera. I will definitely be around again.

BEST customer service experience Ive ever had. I contacted Retrospekt because an item I was looking to buy was out of stock. Ryan responded within minutes and went above and beyond to help me get exactly what I was looking for. He even emailed me back when I ordered a camera and the wrong film for it to let me know they were not compatible. He then proceeded to cancel and refund me for the incorrect purchase and sent me a link to the correct film. I received the products in less than a week. The camera was a present for my boyfriend, who is absolutely thrilled with it! Kudos to Retrospekt. If only every company gave this level of customer care! Cannot recommend enough!

I needed film while I was in town and stopped by the storefront. I don’t think they usually get a lot of walk in traffic. They had the film I needed at a decent price. Wanted to maybe talk Polaroids but I got the feeling they prefer online orders so I bailed. Cute shop though, and they have good film in stock.

I’ve been telling everyone who will listen about this place—i really highly recommend them! their website is clean, well done, aesthetically pleasing, and user friendly. i purchased some vinyl records, of which they have a really respectable and well-curated selection. the prices are all really reasonable too. when my records came, any that weren’t new were still in great condition and came in protective sleeves, and one of my records was actually signed by the artist and i had no idea! they didn’t even charge extra for it. my items also arrived very quickly, and with some cool stickers thrown in there too.having to now buy records only online has been a bummer for me, but if everyone did the online shopping thing like retrospekt is doing it, my experience would be missing nothing. and it’s always good to buy local!!

After purchasing a few SX-70’s as gifts for dear friends, I finally pulled the trigger and got one for myself. What can I say - I’m absolutely in love. My black Model 2 is friggin’ gorgeous and mighty! After a couple of eBay duds, long before finding this great company, I’d pretty much given up on ever owning a working SX-70 of my own and instead just poured all my film budget into roll film stuff. I wish I’d found Retrospekt sooner!I’d see so many posts on social media by others with these cameras and thought they were uploading heavily edited works because I had never achieved it myself, but I can attest to the true magic of these Land masterpieces and now I’m able to make the images that I always envisioned.I don’t mean to sound excessively gushy and I personally don’t like it when things are overhyped but photography – instant film more specifically – is my biggest passion and I feel like there’s a void in my soul that has been healed here. Especially after the discontinuation of peel-apart pack film. It’s the whole Retrospekt experience that really makes this such a satisfying purchase for me. Most importantly, the camera is 100% functional. Full stop. But when you stop to notice all the time and energy that’s put into the clean-up and the packaging of the camera, it’s intense and beautiful. Elegant and clean. It’s a Reflektion (see what I did there?) of the company and the sincerity of their efforts and mission to honor the legacy of Dr. Land and his wonderful invention. Also, special shoutout to the homie Lucy in Customer Service for always being there to keep me calm, cool & collected while my international shipments were in transit during a pandemic! The cameras always arrived safe and in perfect working order.Long live Polaroid.Thank you, Retrospekt.Item type:Converted to 600

I sent an sx-70 camera into them for refurbishment. It took them much less time than anticipated. I was quite happy. The camera looked great. However, when I went out to shoot it the trouble started. I noticed some black marks appearing in most of my images. Due to the nature of polaroid I thought perhaps it was just that one film pack. Well multiple packs later the marks are always present. Additionally the mirror would occasionally become stuck in the up position. I emailed retrospekt with some photos of the issue and it took them 24 hours to respond. They insinuated that the issues I am facing are my fault. This is not the case. I am an experienced photographer and I know how to use a camera. It has been about 4 days now since the initial email was sent and my issue is still not resolved. I feel the camera needs to be sent back because they still have some work to do on it but they are doing all in their power to avoid that. It is extremely frustrating that they will only respond to an email once in a 24 hour period. Once this issue with my SX-70 is resolved I will never use their services again. I would advise you to send your SX-70 camera to brooklynfilmcamera.com instead. I sure wish I did.

I paid $200 and sent them a very expensive walkman for repairs one year ago. They not only never contacted me about it after their initial check-in email (I had to email in a few times over the twelve month period to ask what was going on), they never fixed it. I get the distinct impression they didnt even try very hard. They returned the walkman and my money, one year later, with no explanation of what they tried, what they didnt try. Thanks for wasting my time. Extremely unprofessional.

Retrospekt Review - Do Not Buy From RetrospektThis is a long story but Ill try to keep it as short as possible. I bought a Polaroid SX-70 Camera - Model 2 × 1 Converted to 600 for $349.00. This is a refurbished camera. I also bought a strap as the camera in the photo had the proper holes for a strap. When I received the camera they let me know that it was not the same one as the photo and that the strap does not work with that model. This is fine, I should have done more research. This strap is very thin and small. They said I can return it to them Ill need to pay a restocking fee of 5%. Which is around 75 cents. Okay… with the shipping back to them, which would be a few dollars. At this point I just decided to keep it. It was an okay strap and Ill find a use for it.— Not to get into this but if I bought on Ebay from them instead of their site, there would not have been a restocking fee. This brings me to the camera. The First pack of film worked great. Some light leaks and color issues but I was expecting to have these. This was within the first week or so since I received the camera. Then the 2nd pack, I shot more sparingly. These photos are about $2.50 a piece so this time around I was more careful with what I shot. Halfway through the pack the camera stopped ejecting the film.Retrospekt told me to buy more film. So I did and the same thing happened with a new pack. Finally I asked for a return. Since I first contacted them with an issue, the return window, 14 days closed. So the only choice was to send it back to them for repair. If I had just asked for a repair instead of asking questions, this whole thing would not have happened. They are very slow to respond to emails. This means that since it took them a day per response my return window passed.— Not to get into this but if I bought from them on Ebay instead of their site, there would not have had an issue returning. They get the camera and say nothing. I reach out to them asking for an update and they say that it works fine with all of their film. Not sure why they never reached out to me, I needed to contact them. They then send it back to me. After trying the same non-working pack of film, it now works. So it was not the film, it was the camera and they say they did not change or fix anything but now it works….So now a few months later - since quarantine I dont go out and I also didnt want to waste money on film if it was not going to work - I shoot a photo and its completely over exposed. Shoot another and its completely over exposed. Im done with this. The 3rd barely came out. So thats $7.50 in photos that are not usable for anything.Do yourself a favor. Do not buy from these guys. Do not buy form Retrospekt. If you have to and I didnt talk you out of it, then buy from their eBay store, that way eBay will get your money back for you if theres an issue. These photos were taken on an overcast day. No special adjustments.—My response to the replay.as you recently expressed in an email to us — you no longer wish to work towards a solution, and we sincerely regret we couldnt come to a satisfying end point. So they want me to send it back to them so that they can, test a 2nd time and say that it works after weeks of waiting. Not to mention they take over 24hrs to answer an email. Be on the look out for my Youtube review and other platforms.By the they NEVER responded to my last email. Its only been 6 days!

Reached out to these guys from 2,000 miles away relative to repairs for my vintage ‘84 sun 660 Polaroid. They were super accommodating and timely, gave very specific instructions about how to package the camera, confirmed they had received it and touched base about repairs, and then got it back to me in a timely manner and the 35 year old camera now works like new. I literally have no complaints and will use them again for all things Polaroid!!

I live in the Seattle area but was recommended to these guys by Polaroid themselves to get my folding SX-70 repaired and the experience did not disappoint! From the flat rate fee to only having to wait about 3 weeks for my camera to get back to me, the company was amazing every step. Super communicative, friendly and quick answers to my million questions and when I got my camera back, I was blown away. It was already a fairly clean looking camera but it froze everytime i pressed the shutter and then it eventually just stopped working altogether. It works like a charm now and looks brand new, despite being nearly 50 years old. I paid extra to have it converted to use 600 film rather than the original sx-70 and that was also money well spent. The camera came back to me packed as though it were a brand new camera pulled off the shelf, with a velvet lined box and very sleek box sleeve that has all the cameras info on the back. I personally think that thats an incredible touch to add, considering the camera came back to me like new. From first contact to getting my camera back was amazing. The wait time was about half than other places and despite the current pandemic, they still got my camera back to me within their normal turn around time. Amazing people, amazing company, i cannot recommend them enough to anyone needing help with a polaroid camera. Only bummer is that theyre 3000 miles away from me and I cant visit the warehouse in person :)

I worked for Retrospekt from September of 2015 - August of 2016, before moving across the country. My year working there was one of the best years of my adult life. Kori and Adam Fuersts passion for instant film is the driving force behind this truly special business. They are incredibly compassionate individuals, and they pour every ounce of their souls into Retrospekt. Every detail of the business has been carefully thought out - from the customer experience to the experiences of their employees. I doubt I will ever find anyone who cares about their employees as much as the Fuersts do. They work tirelessly to create a postive work environment. If an employee has an issue or a concern, they sincerely want to be informed and will absolutely work to address it. They are a small business that has come so far in just a few years! Retrospekt strives to provide their employess with fair wages and benefits. In a world where few jobs can offer this to young adults, Retrospekt is a gem.

I am a repeat customer, and a very satisfied one. I bought a couple of refurb Poloroid cameras from this wonderful and unique restoration company as presents for my best friend from high school, my best friend from Interlochen National music camp, and my brother. For men of a certain age, a fully functional restored vintage authentic Poloroid Camera is the gift that cannot be outdone. So theres the product, but the process also deserves five stars. The owners, a young couple who Im pretty sure are too young to remember Poloroids being a thing, are doing a good thing for my community. They set up shop locally restoring an industrial blighted spot and they hire young creative people who need jobs. In a day and age when most employers have no ethics, these two really treat their people well, so I feel good about being a repeat customer. And a hint to any of my friends who read this: a restored Poloroid would make a nice gift for ME too you know.
