Great place to take your guitars for repairs no matter how major. For a small shop they always have a great selection of gear for sale. Always worth dropping in to check out whats in stock!

Customer service was awful. I walked in with my kiddo to get him strings for his guitar. I explained I was a little clueless and my son just started lessons. The man was annoyed and arrogant, couldnt be bothered to answer questions or help (he said he was swamped with work). He doesnt have to worry about more work from me, ever.Maybe lock the door and turn off the open sign?!

Took my Epiphone Nighthawk Custom Reissue to get a setup and string replacement. Was quoted $45 and when called to be picked up I discovered the price had grown to over$70 due to UNAUTHORIZED additional charges for work. The guy was arrogant and actually bad mouthed another business with accusations of theft. I would not recommend this place for anything guitar related. I have been playing guitar for over 35 years and some people actually respect my opinion .P.S. the neck still has deadspots and fretbuzz EVEN WHEN PLUGGED IN AND AMPLIFIED,as the store employee said it would not do.DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT.I threw away$70 bucks. A musician during covid lost $70 in this place.

This is the best repair shop in the midwest, hands down. I have toured and lived in many states and was always looking for a shop to fix my guitar or get the intonation right after traveling and was always disappointed. The owner at top shelf is some kind of guitar Jesus. He lays his hands on your guitar, a miracle happens, and its back from tone death and better than new, speaking in new vibrant sound, guitar tongues so to speak. I will never take my guitars to any other shop.

Every single time I buy a new guitar, I drop it off to this place even before I start playing it. I am someone who has been playing for a really long time, but do not know enough about setting up a guitar. Not sure what these guys do, but my guitars sound fantastic after theyve worked on it!

I am a novice guitarist at best. I needed a tune up on a piece of equipment I didnt understand very well. These guys fixed her right up and even after I went home and busted a string due to inexperience they took me right back in and fixed her up again. Even told me a few hints. I left a tip and they gave me a t-shirt! I will definitely be back next time I need help. Thanks for the help guys!

Make no mistake, I love my guitars. Unfortunately I’ve had some really bad experiences with guitar techs/luthiers. So dealing with Top Shelf was well, top shelf. Every repair I’ve trusted them with has been finished on time, reasonably priced and of exceptional quality. They even repair amps, and carry a nice selection of gear and accessories. No more guitar separation anxiety for me!

BE SURE TO CALL BEFORE YOU GO HERE. Its a nice shop and conveniently located a mile from where I live... but its run by musicians... and as such they seem to perpetuate the stereotype of musicians being flakes... Ive walked the mile to the shop twice in recent months for strings, picks, etc... only to find it closed during regular business hours... I have a tough time not just going to online dealers when this occurs.

Needed a bass guitar, owner plugged in a few and played them, went into detail about their background and what they were best used for. This guy knows guitars. He threw in a free gig bag, shoulder strap, picks, and even shined up the fretboard and put on new strings on the spot! Fantastic one-on-one service, these guys will take care of you.

I dropped my SG off for a while new setup, and needed my wiring re-soldered. I dropped it off at 1, and it was ready by 6! I took it straight to practice and it plays and sounds like a dream. Ill definitely be taking it back for any thing I need.

I called at about 5:45 p.m. and they close at 6, I was in dire need of getting my electronic drum fixed. As I have read previous reviews they had stayed open late for other customers, so i figured Id give it a shot. Long story short, he said come on in. He had me all fixed up ready to go in less than 5 minutes. A++++++ not to many stand up businesses around anymore, but I would recommend them all day long. And that was my first time in the shop. Its not like Im a regular customers. Thank you guys!!!

Jeff has resurrected a lot of broken equipment and guitars for my family and friends over the years. He asks intelligent questions to understand your playing style and what you need so he can make suggestions. Being an incredible musician in his own right he understands these things. When you buy something from him all the years of knowledge and guidance, standing behind the gear is included in the price. He made the mistakes so you dont have to! If you want cheap cheap go see a clerk at a big box store where they employ kids who dont know products. As a wise man once told me buy the best and you only cry once. You can find the best at Top Shelf!Follow up:. Now Jeff talks less. He stands and acknowledges your needs. Maybe grunts a little if youre saying something silly about the guitar. Then he takes it like a caveman takes a club and he FIXES it! If he had a bearskin ok hed be the magical Fred Flintstone of guitars!! YA BA DA BA DO -- IT!!!
