Had a great experience. Shopping was easy and everything was displayed neatly. Employees are very friendly and know a lot of information on almost any item in the store!
Very polite and helpful staff, I felt welcome immediately. Lots of fun stuff to look at and buy. I look forward to visiting again
Brand new to TCGs, decided to check this place out. Well organized, and being new, Silas was very friendly and helped me figure out where to start and explaining the events.
Great environment. Knowledgeable employees. Always people there playing games and willing to teach. 1 star off due to small selection but otherwise great place yo visit
Great store with very friendly and helpful people inside. You will find everything you were looking for over there (in terms of tabletop games if course)
Good place to buy board games around the Charlotte area. They also have space if you decide to play onsite with your friends.
I came in to look at getting started for DND for me and my boyfriend, I didn’t get they guys name but he was super helpful and honest about the things I needed which turned out to only be dice and a rule book. I wasn’t pushed to get anything extra and enjoyed the experience I was given especially as someone totally new. Will definitely be back after I get my bearings on playing!
Your local game store is a great small business in the community for board games and TTRPGs (TableTop Roleplay Games). The owners and employees are all quite kind, and Ive known them for years. If youre looking into MtG (Magic: the Gathering) or D&D (Dungeons and dragons), the store is a great place to go.I was really blessed with having them be so close to home, and Ive had a wonderful experience through the years with them. Some quick questions you may have:They do not sell comic books, and they have a very limited consignment selection of single mtg cards. They also do not sell video games.
I will check this out with my crystal beast deck and find friendly players to fight in yugioh good place
Nice game shop, very tidy a wide selection of board games and dungeons and dragons / pathfinder books and miniatures.
Great local store with an excellent selection of board games, card games, and war games. Excellent customer service, the folks here will also order you just about anything. They are following all applicable COVID guidelines while still maintaining their great attitude and support for the community.
Came in from out of town and did not feel welcome. Limited selection. Had to wait forever to be rung out because everyone was just talking. Not a great experience
Super helpful associates! Great place to go if you have nothing to do and need some suggestions for games!
First visit and they were friendly and helpful.
We have occasionally dropped into this store over the years to check out the different games and equipment they have. Recently we had a special request from a family member for a Japanese shogi board for a birthday gift. At the time it was extremely difficult to get them personally imported in and theyre very rare to find in stock in the states. We tried calling several other tabletop stores in the area. The guys here were polite, understanding, and extremely helpful. They were able to special order the board AND receive well before the birthday deadline. The board is in excellent shape and perfect to give as a gift. Communication was excellent as well! As a bonus we also found a board game while we were shopping around at the time. It was super fun too! Looking forward to shopping here again in the future and possibly playing some games there as well! Thank you so much for making this birthday gift so special!
This is a fun stop for all your tabletop gaming needs! They are super laid back and don’t assume anything about you. This is a great thing because novices / casual players can be turned off by the more hard core crowd. This place legitimately welcomes everyone. I’d recommend it to both newcomers and veteran players alike.
Every board game you could possibly imagine! Great customer service
Best gaming store in the matthews/mint hill area
Great store. Was a fan when they were located in Matthews. New store in Mint Hill is just as great. Very helpful staff member was able to guide me towards a handful of games that my boys would like after describing the current games they play. Open boxes of many of the games that are sold are available for customers to try before they buy on one of their many large game tables. That staff member also took the time to help set up the game and walk through the rules with us. Store has a much larger variety than other stores in the area like Fodder Cannon Games.
This place is great, glad its close!
My son and I just swung by. We are new to the area and decided to give it a shot. Great selection with the old fashion classic. Owner was very personable and the store is very organized. Add it to your list!
Amazing atmosphere, amazing service
Really comprehensive store for needs like me. D&D stuff, board games, space is free to use, as well as a selection of games (and also cheap take-home rentals), pretty full weekly events schedule. I look forward to visiting often.
Fantastic store with tons of games that are new and popular and all the classics also. Big selection of roll playing games and miniature games as well. Great help from the staff. Wish this store was in my home town!
This store is great. The staff is helpful and can answer most questions. If you want to play a quick game there are plenty of people around to play. The expanded store gives a lot more room so you dont feel crowded even in a full house.I come here for all my board game needs.
That was my first experience in the family owned game store. I needed to get a game for my nephew and had no idea what I was looking for. As soon as I entered store, a sales person offered me help. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable about all the merchandise they have. She spent about 20 minutes with me going through the store and explaining with the great details about games that might be interesting for kids my nephew’s age. The prices in the store were very competitive and I end up purchasing one game. During this holiday season I was called “the best aunt” by my nephew.
Wow. Clean facilities, open space. Very accommodating for younger kids. Toys and a play space near the front. Even a nice diaper changing table in the restroom. Employee/owner? was extremely attentive and helped me, my 7 yr old son, and my 3 yr old daughter have a great time and find what we were looking for. Will be back even though I live over an hour away.
Nice place. Well organized. Available play space including paid private rooms.
Awesome store. Women owned and super supportive of female gamers even down to providing free feminine hygiene products in the restroom. We go weekly for D&D adventure league but they have a huge variety of supplies and private game rooms available to rent.
Great, friendly store. Staff is knowledgeable and patient. Prices are good and they have a good consignment section, too!
Very friendly store. I was able to easily find what I was looking for and the staff was helpful and answered all my questions. They have a nice amount of clean gaming space and hold a variety of regular events.
Excellent yet simple set up for gaming of a-l-l kinds! Im a 50 year old geek and didnt feel out of place. Also, well thought out supplies available for purchase. Parents with young children occasionally express language concerns but Ive heard worse in my granddaughters elementary school...
While I was only passing through as a visitor from out of town, Im impressed by this store. The people - both staff and customers - are friendly, theres a huge selection of games here, and everything is neat and well organized. They also have a little play area for kids who are too young to play standard board games, which is a thoughtful touch. I wish the folks running this store all the best!
Great place to find gaming supplies of all kinds. Board games galore and a knowledgeable staff. Role-playing and card games, too. Tons of supplies like dice and sleeve protectors. Also, a LOT of space to host your own games!
Great indie game store with rooms to rent for private games and a huge library to test out with friends. Also sells snacks and drinks
I think that as gaming stores go, this the best Ive ever been to. And Ive been to 4 or 5 over the years that I can readily remember. This one offers many games to buy and many to rent. It offers intro demos/lessons, which I attended once with my daughter. And they have lots of gaming gear like dice and miniatures. And now in their new location they have private game rooms in addition to the open tables in the main part of the store. And the owners and employees are always friendly and helpful, and know their stuff. Finally, the variety of genres and total games is impressive. This is a great place for enjoying board games, RPG games, card games, and miniature games (and probably more Im not remembering).
This is my favorite game store. I like playing that game where you spit out obscure criteria for a game and stand back while the salesperson scrambles around looking for a good fit. The thing is the people here are so good at the game. I always leave with something new to play. The best thing though is the rentals! I’ve gotten to play games I never would have tried.
Really enjoyed playing my first game of D&D! They were very nice in helping me learn rather then being mad I didnt know. Inviting environment. $4 charge to play on Saturday, but they said it goes to the D.M. which I can respect! I bought some dice for the game and it was a great price. They have snacks and drinks for sale pretty cheap compared to what they could charge. Everyone seemed pumped to be there! Great place!
Your local game store is definitely a great place to game at. The atmosphere has a real community feel to it and alot of the people know each other and the staff there. The establishment has a large selection of games that you can borrow to play at the store or to buy and bring home with you. The store also holds events almost everyday of the week for certain games so that its never boring there. And with notice you can reserve a table so you can host a game night or anything else with friends. Would recommend to others for a good time.
Really fun I played a game of dnd and am going to every week there for now on!
Very helpful staff - helped us pick out two Christmas gifts with no pressure whatsoever. They even had opened versions of the games to try out before buying. Pricing was comparable to online, but I would have paid an upcharge to support a local helpful retailer.
Nice play. Decent selection. Also sells used games!
Excellent location in downtown Matthews. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They carry a wide variety of stock so good chance they have what you are looking for. Great tables for miniature war gaming.
I have been going to the store for almost 5 years. The store is very family-friendly. The staff and owners are very nice and knowledgeable about the products they are selling. They have a large selection of games, RPG books and miniatures. What they don’t have, they can usually special order. There are weekly events and tournaments hosted at the store as well.Do yourself a favor and stop by and see it for yourself.
We loved playing games at this store. The had a good variety of new and older games on their borrow shelves. The store has plenty of tables for several groups of gamers. We will be returning to play more games.
Extremely knowledgeable team that are eager to help. This truly feels like your local game store!
Amazing store, amazing people! Ive been playing Warhammer here almost a year, will be adding D&D to the roster. Also my go to place for all board and card games. Very knowledgeable about the myriad of games they offer. Highly recommended!
This is the best place to play d&d. everyone is really nice. they are helpful if you have any questions. occasionally I will play as a dungeon master and everyone is respectful and fun. this is the best game store in Charlotte.
Best RP store in charlotte. amazing environment. Swearing is looked down on. 10/5
Large selection of games, and an even larger area to play them. Family friendly with incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff that are more than willing to help you get started in that game youve been eyeing. Features all the staples like Friday Night Magic, storage for tabletop miniatures, and a pretty well stocked snack selection; along with a game rental library, so you can make sure youll love that interesting looking game before buy it. Also good for groups looking for a business meeting spot (rentable rooms), summer camp field trips, D&D nights, and more.
No, its not a console or computer game store. Its a table top game store and the selection.... hell, I didnt know there were that many table top games. If youre looking to get into some table top with friends, find something for the family, or just get supplies/updates for the extreme table top nerd-ness, this is the place. Has pretty awesome schedule of events as well for groups of people to come to the store and play together.
Great little game store with a nice selection of board games, including a large selection of modern games for kids. The owners are very friendly, and they have a rewards program to get discounts. Ive asked them to order games they dont typically carry before and they have always been able to deliver exactly what Im looking for quickly, and at a reasonable cost. Best FLGS in the Charlotte area.
I frequent this business every Wednesday for their weekly Magic: The Gathering booster draft (starting at 7pm). The owners are friendly and the store is clean/organized. When youre there youre treated like youre family. Besides drafting on Wednesday they have things going on every day of the week (except Sunday when they are closed). Its a fun and friendly environment that is suitable for all ages, any day of the week you walk in there youll be able to meet some new friends and try out a new game. Also they have worked out a deal with a local pizzeria to get food delivered with no delivery charge, so thats a plus. You should absolutely check them out whenever you have some free time.
This was an amazing place. The staff were friendly, patient, and helpful. They have a really nice assortment of games, rpg, and Magic.
The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the selection of games to pick from is thoroughly diverse. There is even a game library that you can access while there, as well as even rent them to take them home to play with friends and family. This place is definitely worth the visit, and I will forever be a returning and regular customer.
I had a wonderful experience shopping at this store today. They have friendly, knowledgeable staff who gave excellent advice. They have a very good selection of games in the store, and if there is something they dont have in stock, they are happy to order it for you.
D&D Adventurers League here is fun, although I recommend getting snacks at the Dollar Tree next door.
Not quite what I was looking for but if you are looking for a place to compete competitive with card or board games this place is Definitely for you. The guy was very informative though and was helping someone in front of me explain some game rules and things that might help him when he plays, I came in looking for vintage cards but if I was looking to play I would definitely come back
It is friendly and local! There is always someone there who is willing to play just about anything with you and they have a great selection of games to play! They also rent, so try out a game and see if you love it!
So many games!! So much fun! They even have a lending program so you can take a game home to try before you buy. Lots of activity on site. My geek loved it!
Best game store I have ever been to. The owners are a fantastic husband and wife team that really know their stuff. The rest of the staff is equally awesome.
Fun game night playing Karuba and Smash Up with my boys.
Pretty good game selection and prices. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about a lot of their games. Theres almost always something going on, from Magic tournaments to RPG sessions to X-Wing games.
Owner (I think) was very helpful and friendly. Certainly made me feel welcome. As someone trying to get back into gaming, it can be a little intimidating. She took the time to help explain a game I ended up purchasing. Im not sure how the setup would compare to other stores, but I felt like I could have sat in there all day (if I didnt have kids to get back to).
Love this place! Great atmosphere, good selection of products, helpful friendly staff. I wouldnt want to game anywhere else.
Visited this store while stopping in Charlotte on our way to Hilton Head. Super active store with helpful and knowledgeable staff, and a fantastic selection of games! We learned how to play Junk Orbit while there, and I picked up Raids by iello before leaving. Great experience and wish we had a store this active close to where I live. 😄
One of the best game stores around. Tim and his staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, always willing to help teach the rules to a game.
Very friendly, helpful, exciting time. This is definitely a family place. We enjoy coming every week
Came in for first time to play some L5R. Owner and staff were really friendly and helped teach me the game. Lots of nice open space, snack counter, and clean bathroom. Even though I have to drive by other stores to get there. This will be my new home gaming store.
A great local game store. Good selection. Good events. Good owners and staff. Overall this place is pretty awesome!
Lots of games but workers werent that interested in being helpful.
They are so nice a friendly to all the people that walk in the store. Your just like family to all of the people that work there. This makes anybody want to take there time a wait on someone to free up. Thanks my son and I will be back. Really soon.
This place is so amazing! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the selection is top notch.
Clean, friendly, helpful and fun. The entire family enjoys going there to play games and buy gaming supplies.
A great place to go and play some games. I’m a Yugioh player myself and the scene there for yugioh isn’t large, but they offer a large selection of tabletop role playing games and host events to try new games. Definitely a great store with a warm, family owned feel.
Excellent atmosphere. If you are into almost any kind of gaming this is the store for you. They are moving to a better location soon.
Great for gamers of all ages. You can play in store or rent. Really cool! Love this place!
Great store. Tons of different kinds of board games. Owners are very nice and knowledgeable. Definitely a must
Clean, friendly place. Helpful staff. Great prices and easy to understand policies on returns and trials. Gaming spaces available. Wide variety of games, collectibles and more.
Always fun. Good people and good fun.
Awesome little hand shop. Had a huge selection and appears to have a great community who visits and plays often.
Decent selection of games. I left after 10 minutes of browsing and being ignored by the staff. They aeemed to be more interested in the regular game players than helping out a potential new customer.
Good selection of tabletop games, dice, Magic the Gathering cards and accessories. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Just fyi, this is the best place.. the staff is amazing and the community is the most friendly and inclusive game store group that I have ever seen.
Great store, excellent selection in stock and friendly staff. More of a 40k player we have no problem getting a table on Thursday and having fun.
These guys (and gals) are really just the best. Everyone is very welcome wether theyre into miniatures games or just looking for a good game for the fam. Always an awesome experience.
Great selection, friendly family atmosphere. You can play games at a table or even reserve a room. Great for RPGs, card games, or wargames.
Very nice and helpful people. Great place to find games to play or hang out and play
Truly love the staff here. Rebecca is absolutely amazing!!
Playing Riddle School Game on riddleschoolgamecom will be more stable than other platforms, I tried many platforms and finally realize this problem.
If fun and games are what you want. This place has everything from family friendly games at any age to collectable card games even a thriving D&D community, thats dungeons and dragons for you youngsters.
Excellent selection of dice, both singles and sets. Tons of board games, and wargaming miniatures. Great stock of Reaper Bones!
Great store, lots of games and room to play. Staff is friendly and they have lots of events scheduled.
Very chill, cool place. Good vibes, good atmosphere, good people
This place is great. I picked up some Hordes stuff late last summer and was interested in trying it out. I scoped this place out a few times while constructing my army and finally went for miniatures night on Thursday one week in November or December. Everyone has been extremely welcoming and patient as I learned the ropes and Ive made a couple dozen new friends. I have been in the store most days of the week and it seems there is always something going on and the Warmachine/Hordes scene is particularly excellent. In general it is unlike some other game stores I have been in as most of the place is open to make room for all the tables. Its a good size and the full wall windows on both sides help differentiate it from the usual dungeon-like game store.Highly recommended.
Always friendly and knowledgeable. Great source for board games and role playing game books and dice etc.
In the months since YLGS opened, Ive found an extended family in both the owners and regulars. The owners are some of the kindest people that you will ever meet. While they are extremely knowledgeable about different games - from board games to war games to card games to RPGs, if they dont have an answer, theyll research it and get back to you with incredible speed. The gaming community is great, and the gaming spaces in the store are plentiful and well-kept.
Packed Friday night better for tabletop gamers than g2k has decent library of games to shop for your living room entertainment
