Wow! That is all I can say. This is the place for the real enthusiasts! It was like going to a museum! The displays above the bars were incredible. I spent 2 hours just walking around and looking! The staff was incredible ! Very willing to approach you and asking if they could show you anything and answering some very difficult questions I had. This is the most friendly store around yet very professional and knowledgeable! Highly recommended!

Weve always been super happy with the purchases weve made from this place. Alec had been great with us everything weve gone in. He always comes and says hi and see how we liked the guns we had purchased. Hes always been a pleasant guy to talk to.

Rude employees. Act like little girls. Purchased a firearm, there was a delay and was told I’d be called within 1-3 days to pick it up. Frustrating but understandable. I called just to be sure within that time frame. Person on the phone was rude and sounded annoyed. “The procedure is we’ll call you when we hear.” Okay, understand that. But I already paid the money, and it’s my purchase from YOUR store. Either way it’s your item I’m purchasing. You can be a little nicer to me little boy. Can we talk about they charge you 5% more for using a card???? Seriously

Today, first visit to Midwest Gun Exchange, after recommendations from Brothers In-law, we decided to take the day and visit. I had been looking for a particular firearm and it was a little illusive in my immediate area. As we entered we were greeted by a young man named Alec, whom immediately became our guide and helper. Alec was extremely knowledgeable, willing to answer questions, and an overall exceptional salesperson. Promptly walked us through the purchasing. Explained some other sales during the background checks.I would do business here again.Price-reasonableInventory -amazingStaff-very friendly👍👍Thank you Midwest!John

To the reviewers complaining about customer service because they are underage and bring an older person in to purchase ammo, that is your own fault. Gun shops are under immense scrutiny and if anything even has a whiff of being suspicious, they have the right, and usually will, kick you out to avoid potential legal trouble. That said, I have noticed some of the issues with customer service here that others have mentioned, namely the arrogance of some employees. It is an unfortunate side effect, it appears, of working in a long established gun shop that employees seem to think they are the only ones that know anything, that every other opinion is wrong, and that the newbies to the scene are to be scoffed at as opposed to properly taught and brought along in the gun community. Too bad, it really turns off newcomers to the gun scene. Otherwise, prices are a bit high but not unconscionable. Store is well stocked, well lit, clean and very nice looking.

I will no longer transfer firearms to this business. I had a firearm transferred to this FFL, they previously charged $40 for the transfer. Now without notice, their new fee is $75. You can easily go anywhere else in town and pay a $30 transfer fee, as recommended by their own employees. At least they have great customer service.

3 stars - can be no better and no worse. The help is your classic know-more-than-you gun store bunch, with most inconvenienced by your existence within the walls of the retail establishment. Went there twice, first to scope out the store sinc eI just moved in the area half a year ago, the second to get ammo and a holster. The ammunition was instock, a little pricey but nonetheless easy to purchase, that employee was friendly, and knowledeable on his ammunition. The second and third employees dealt with have either too much time working as Asset protection from grocery stores for one of them, and the other no experience in retail. The one without the retail experience, or the care, was asked if they had IWB for a Glock 23. He turned around at his twelvr foot wide rack, took a look up and down directly infront of him for a short 30 seconds, turning around and declaring they had none. He didnt look in his other holster areas, just the one. From what I could observe, the holsters are not organized by IWB or OWB, nor by leather, polymer/plastic, or what level of retention of the holster. The other followed me out to the parking lot to check my reciept as I left. They have crates there that with a purchase you can take one. I asked the employee from earlier (The friendly one) about the crates while making my purchase and he confirmed that was the case, even asking if I wanted one, which I did. He rung up the crate (it was free, just needed to be marked from their inventory that it was sold not missing), and said I was cleared to take it when I was done. However even with that, I still got followed, unlike the other customers, to the parking lot, stopped, and asked for my reciept. He checked my goods and everything checked out seemingly to this employees dismay. That is both a lack of trust in employees and customers, to the point that I will actively not recommend going to this gun shop, and will not participate in their business either. Were supposed to be acti ely celebrating the business of firearms, not dismiss it like they seem to have done. I gave it a 2 out of 5 for that one guy, he was a good guy, stayed near the ammo.

They have all the guns youre looking for that arent in stock elsewhere, but youre also going to pay more. I purchased a Sig P320 M17, was only shown the display model that was excellent. The one I received was supposedly brand new. It was drenched in oil, the outside of the barrel was all scratched up, and the chamber was all marked up from ammunition. I assumed I was getting one in the same condition as the one I was shown and paid 856 after tax expecting one in new condition. I drove 2 1/2 hours to pay extra for a clearly used firearm. After over 10 years of purchasing firearms, this by far is the worst condition one Ive ever received that was supposed to be new as well as one of the highest Ive paid for a 9mm. Some of the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful though. Ammo has doubled in price since I was last there several months ago, but where hasnt it....They more than likely have what youre looking for, but dont do what I did and look at the actual firearm youll be receiving and not go by the one your shown in the display. Ive never had this happen before and everywhere else Ive purchased one, this never was an issue. Im very unhappy with the condition I received mine in. Ill be contacting Sig to see what they can do.

Horrible experience. I brought in a holster looking for a .22 LR pistol to lay in it. An employee, 20 something year old, tried to fit a .44 magnum in it and scratched up the lining of the holster; after I told him exactly what I was looking for. Also asked if the store carried a Smith & Wesson Model 627; kid pointed at a 686 and said its the same model. Then asked for an inside and outside holster for a Glock. The kid scratched up my pistol by putting it in backwards and did not know how the one brand of holster they had in the store worked. Perhaps if he had a bit more experience I would have just walked out sooner instead of wasting my time.Besides all this, the selection of firearms was decent but prices could have been better. The store was well organized and clean.

Read the novel of negative reviews that this stores accumulated and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Manager was rude, people at the counter actively ignore you, highly prejudicial against their customers, inflate their prices to unreal numbers. Read at least 3 separate reviews of peoples being discriminated against for the way they looked ethnically or for being “too old” at this store. Again, I gave the benefit of the doubt and decided to try and buy some 9mm ammunition. I myself am not 21. 20, to be 21 in 4 months so I brought immediate family with me that more than met that requirement to get us the ammunition we needed for the range. We were denied service and actually rudely asked to leave the store. When asked why the manager said “in this instance we don’t feel comfortable doing business with you, you can leave.” Do with this review as you will.

I have been a customer service manager, and their customer service is awful. After five personal experiences... this is my impression... when you walk in you see eight guys behind the counter busy talking to each other and one guy on the computer. Eight customers in the store. Somecustomers have been “helped” and are waiting patiently. Others are curiously waiting to be acknowledged as there is no line or system. But what are the 8 busy guys doing talking to each other? Also, I’m a gun owner and just wanted to buy some range ammo. They charged $21/box whereas I can get the same box a few miles away for $13$. So? This is an objective review.

Some very good strengths, and some weaknesses. Have shopped with them pretty consistently, buying and selling, over the last couple years.Ill go by category below:Ammo: does a good job maintaining fair market prices. While the ammo market in general isnt good (2/25/2021), I think Midwest works hard to keep the ammo prices good in this market.New Firearms section: This is where the store shines. They generally keep a great inventory of some of the major brands, and at fair market prices. Also, I think this is where much of the staff focuses their attention on. I am not fully aware of their business model, but I assume this is a primary revenue stream for them. Some people will nitpick small price differences here and there, but I do believe they keep within fair new market prices. (I think a lot of people just dont know what current market price is).Used section: This is where you should take note. So Midwest seems to have two used sections. One section is a rack at the far end of the store on the ground floor itself. I think these used rifles are fairly priced, and are honestly lower quality used.Midwest has a second used section, which they generally keep on the wall to the direct right of the door you come in. In general, you could argue that they are not keeping to general market price for some of these higher value used guns, and I think are waiting for a collector who is willing to pay above market price for them. Midwest, very understandably, seems to want to maximize the margins in these categories, and therefore seems to be a bit more protective/aggressive here.Personally, the only time I have run into friction with any of the Midwest staff was in the pricing/selling situation around what might be considered higher collector value historic firearms. The friction wasnt unprofessional, but it was awkward. If you are looking for more classic/vintage hunting/historic firearms and an open historic firearms culture, this might not be the place to look for that, which I dont entirely blame on the store... I just dont think its their strength area and where they choose to focus. If you are in that type of market, there are other gun stores (even one local) that has a better focus on that... some Indiana gun shows also address that lane more effectively than Midwest.Staff: I see and read a lot of complaints about the staff. For my part, I felt the staff was very professional when it came to new firearms. Yes some of the staff are inexperienced, but its unfair to get angry at them for that; we all start somewhere. The only place I ran into friction was in the used/selling department, as mentioned above. All this being said, there have been comments that the staff is arrogant. What I will say is that it seems the Midwest Gun Exchange business is pretty secure in this area, and I think it could have potentially made some of them.... too comfortable?Overall, If you are a new gun owner or looking to grab the newest firearms model from a major brand, this is a great place. If you are looking to focus on historical or more classic firearms in a hunting/field type culture, more classic gun shops or gun shows might be a better spot to focus your time.

Greeted by a friendly Christopher. He inquired, if there was anything he could help with, to let him know. He showed me several guns, never pushing his favorite, but giving me ideas that I hadnt thought of. I did decide on another model, and even knowing I saw it elsewhere, cheaper. I did purchase it. In addition, picked out the next one I will purchase there. During the purchase and background check process, I was treated with the utmost respect and patience. I would not recommend buying anything from them. We traveled about 120 miles to them because they had a gun in stock that we’d been searching for. As we arrived around 2 pm on Sunday we had a approx 2 hrs until closing, we grabbed an employees attention and asked him to bring it down. He started by saying the magazine capacity to the ps-90 is 50, which I was surprised by because I had only been seeing 30 round magazines and even asked “oh wow this is 50 rd, not 30?” And was brushed off and curtly told yes 50. When asking what all came with it, he said one magazine but maybe two and maybe some other stuff in a cardboard box it comes in, we asked to see what comes in the box, he went to get it. He brought the box and said we have to get going on the paperwork so there would be enough time to process before closing. And instead of bringing the box said there was another magazine. No one said anything during the waiting period for the paperwork anything about 3% addl charge for using credit or debit card. We could have grabbed cash. So we got an addl $51 at the end tacked to the bill. The entire transaction felt like they didn’t care one way or another about the sale, like they were doing us a favor by selling us something. Terrible customer service. When we got home and took it out, there was only one magazine, and also the magazines are 30 rd, neither of which are big deals but just emphasized the feeling that their employees don’t even know or care to learn or know what they’re selling or just even look at the sticker on the end of the box that says 30-rd capacity. Truly disappointing. And I wish I would have read all the previous reviews before going there to see that this is their general attitude towards their customers. You can find plenty of ffls and order things and have them shipped to them and not give Midwest gun exchange your business, I highly suggest doing so.

The staff they have is know it alls. I research guns and know more about them then they do. However I did find someone that was a decent employee and as much patience as he had and knowledge without being a know it all I purchased a firearm. Wouldnt totally recommend this place though, better gun shops are in the area.

Went into the store for the first time today. I live closer to the Elkhart store but went to this store to see the bigger selection.I was asked what I needed help with before I could get to the displays. I was up front about only being there to do research on my first firearm and not buy a gun today. I spoke with the employee (which I believe to be the owner or store manager) for a little more than an hour. He was happy to get about 10 different pistols out of the case and describe the difference along with his experience on each. Then we went over rifles simply because I mentioned my second firearm would probably be a rifle. The entire time he was professional, polite and extremely helpful. Overall I was very happy that I stopped in

The best selection around. Staff was awesome and prices are right. Only place I will purchase from. I had the opportunity to work with Bruce, Mike, Cole and Kevin, outstanding guys and they are extremely knowledgeable. For 5 bucks they will change the amount on your receipt, I get what I want and my wife still loves me...

This place is gun heaven! You are treated like family after going there a few times. They have great prices and will always deal. The sales are ridiculously cheap! I drive a hour to go because the savings usually buys my gas and a bunch of ammo (lunch sometimes if I get my way)!

I have purchased a few guns here for good prices. If you are planning on buying here, you should check Google to see when the store is the least busy otherwise you will wait a long time. Overall, this place has good prices and a helpful staff once you get talking with them. This store stocks a huge variety of rifles, hand guns, knives, scopes, ammo, and other shooting accessories.

Unfortunately, when I went into the store, I was “assisted” by Randy. He was rude and had a condescending attitude. He couldn’t wait to get rid of me. He’s a poor representative for your company and the fact you allow him to work there, tells me you’re a company I don’t need to do business with.

If you want good help, service and a friendly demeanor ask for Jake P. He was knowledgeable and friendly, helpful and prompt. I have nothing but good things to say about the place, and that opinion based on my interactions with that particular associate.

Decent place to have a look at firearms of any sort; This place is huge! Location is good, and parking lot is fairly big with room to maneuver. Showroom temperature is always kept comfortable. When going in, I find that not copping an attitude or acting like you know it all is key. Of the several times Ive been in there, I havent had any issues with service or help. Sometimes it takes awhile for someone to help you, but thats usually because they have a good handful of customers inside at any given time. Ammo prices are reasonable, just keep an eye out on their weekly ad for deals. All in all, a decent place to check out if youre interested in any firearms.

The staff is fine, the selection is excellent. The prices are higher than I like, but when you factor in shipping and FTL transfer fees, it balances out all right. I do not understand all the complaints about service, theyre good people. Will they steer you to the $1000 Smith and Wesson? Of course. This isnt a bad thing, folks, its called sales. If youre after a Hi Point, just tell them so they can get you done and move on. If youre spending real money, feel free to finger fondle. Good store.

Great selection. Fun place to look. Most of their employees I have encountered know very little if anything about firearms or related. Way over priced on a lot of things, but occasionally they have a deal or two. Their website has a comment about being put over a barrel and how good their ammo prices are. I found that hilarious. If you buy 22 ammo there prepare to be put over a barrel, and something broken off inside. All and all its worth checking out, plenty to see there.

Pro tip ~ bring paper money and a general knowledge about firearms.Aye, the prices can be questionably high but every so often you can find something on sale thats close to online value and minus the wait. The staff arent all bad or perhaps I just so happen to get the happiest one here that random day. So far Ive purchased 2 handguns and one had to be ordered which is unique considering the quantity of firearms this store has, which is all the things! ...in just about every caliber. What we ordered arrived within the week, no problem.Theres also a generous collection of accessories, self-defense tools, shooter bags, holsters, suppressors, outdoor gear, security safes, and a whole lot more. tis a bummer city rules wont allow an indoor firing range at this location. Sure would save many of us from driving a long way.

One of the younger employees a while back was nice, but judging from interactions Ive seen, some of the older and middle-aged employees are extremely rude, aggressive, unhinged, and quite frankly very stupid. Not the kind of people who should be around guns.

Terrible service, wasn’t always like this . I’ve been shopping with them since Lincolnway east location and will never return again. Last few years It’s been one bad experience after another .Most of the staff is extremely rude. I’ve been flat out ignored when asking a question before, The associate just walked away from me and went and hid in the loss prevention blinds the have in the store to avoid me . After that I’ll take my business somewhere else
