This is a wonderful country store in a charming little town called Moultonborough. Its a great place to take your friends if youre visiting or your kids or your family or what have you. There are endless pros of penny candy and gifts and rare and sometimes strange fun items. There is a wonderful very rare museum upstairs of course its free and it has a lot of interesting things from back in the actual old days. Its a great place for a rainy day activity and the crowd is polite and its a very charming store with really an endless array of unique items. But also penny candy and rare candies and treats. Lots of parking also benches outside.
When you step into The Old Country Store, you step back into the past! This place is a must stop if you are traveling through NH on your way to North Conway! This is a place from my childhood where we would load up on penny candy. Well, when it actually was a penny. One of the oldest country stores in NH and it goes on and on. You can gets lots of NH souvenirs and knick knacks here as well as candles, all kinds of kitchenware and a large assortment of candy! They are still using the old scales and registers from yesteryear! A charming place packed full of NH artifacts and history! Dont miss it!
Great place to explore. Never know what you will find. Things that you thought you would never see again or something that you cant figure out. Very eclectic items. Lots of fun checking out all the nooks in the building. Buy some penny candy, hiking maps, lake sweatshirts, or cooking gear. You will find something to buy.
I have always loved this store. It is a place I have visited may times and I have enjoyed it every time. The barrel pickles are a must try. I lean toward the dill. But they also have sour. I would recommend stopping here. I will bet you wont regret it There is a reason that they are always busy.
This place is absolutely amazing. There are so many neat things to browse, buy and sample. Not to mention the history surrounding you as you walk around. It is different than any museum I’ve ever seen as the building and it’s contents are the “artifacts” which also happens to have a ton of things to purchase. We will be making this part of our annual visit to New Hampshire. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Cool store with an excellent museum upstairs. Candy, fresh cut cheese, and a distinct New England feel.
If I were asked to guess how many articles are for sale in the store - my first guess would be 1,000,000. An unbelievable range of useful products. You will find something you can use immediately. Penny candy display meets you at the door.
Lots of stuff to choose from... fresh cut cheese is really good. The museum is upstairs; you can see it all in about 10 minutes, but hey; its free. Individual candy sold by the pound, wind chimes, mugs, toys, store-bottled sodas, and more. Ample parking behind the building; Im glad we stopped in.
Love this country store, love the old time candy. You can find lots of different things here.
Wonderful shop! You can spend hours inside and still not see everything. Second and third visits worth the time.
Ok this place is a little ways away from where I live but always a nice ride to get there. Lots of tourist stuff and some stuff for the locals. Just a cool old store to walk through. You never know what you will find.
Always fun to peruse tbrough. Allow plenty of time, many rooms full of interesting items that bring you back in time.
We always enjoy walking through the old country store and buying objects that we need in our house.
I love the old nickel, dime, quarter machines. Its shows how far we have come. Especially on one of the photo slide machine. Dress code in 1899. To present. Wow...Found all I needed. What a great time. You can get list in there.
Ive been coming here since childhood and thats a longgggg time ago! Its a fun place to stop, always come away with something cute. Place hasnt changed much through the years, thankfully, its really nostalgic and charming.
Theres no extreme assortment of gifts, candy, even food and drink. My husband and I love to go here for the eclectic assortment and their own branded sodas. The penny candy is great too lol
Love this store. If you want to step back in time and find things that take you back this is your store. Items you just cant find anywhere else!
Must stop by and check this place out. If you cant find it here you probably dont need it.Great pickles too!
A whole bunch of items to look at and purchase. The older furniture and antique pieces were nice to look at.
I love this store and so do many other families. Stop in with your kids for some great penny candies, cheese, jams and so much more
This place has so many unique items to shop for, like gifts, kitchen tools, pickles in a barrel, old wheeled cheddar cheese, toys, and a small museum to visit and also penny candy
Such a cute country store, Ive been going my entire life
Wonderful variety of items but NOT for the claustrophobic....tons of merchandise but also lots of people. There is so much there you can practically spend an afternoon looking and choosing!
I wish there were more locally made products to buy.
You must pay a visit. Something for everyone to be found. Fun to browse and buy a souvenir and more.
A lot of history, definitely you can find almost everything in old style way.
Its okay, a lot to see, a lot to purchase. Definitely overcrowded and its a tight fit getting down the aisles to begin with, and almost impossible with the amount of people shopping inside. Overall a nice store with a variety of good things to buy, something for everyone.
Great little store. Try the sodas. They are awesome.
Absolutely love this place! So many great items to choose from. So many interesting gift ideas!
This store is exactly what you would expect an old country store to be, right down to the barrel of pickles and old fashioned soda bottles. Worth a visit and Im sure you wont leave without buying something. It is filled to the brim with lots of stuff. We ended up buying a cast iron stovetop water holder that we didnt even plan on knew we needed. There you have it.
We love stopping here on our way through town. It is bigger than it looks, full of fun things to browse through. They have lots of delicious goodies and the best honeycomb ever! 🍯
Used to be quaint and neat with penny candy etc., now goofy and too much touristy stuff.
This place has EVERYTHING. Food to toys to kitchen and bath items....clothing....you coujd spend hours here. Very busy yet everyone moved along and the line went quick!
Nice place to browse around. I bought a reasonably priced t-shirt, a few caramels, and an old fashioned cream soda.
I love this place! Ive been going for 40 years and it holds a very special place in my heart. Try the pickles in the barrel - there is nothing like it from a jar. Take your time and look around, this place is HUGE! They dont use registers, they ring you up the old fashioned way - addition on paper! So refreshing that it has stayed the same for so long!
This little gem was fantastic. Will stop in each and every time we are near.
An old, old store. Fun to walk through, full of memorabilia.
Highly recommend going in...large store with so many gift choices
Like an old time 5&10. A little bit of everything. Great place
First time there loved it had all the candy 🍬 I liked 👍
Always love this place. So much here. Great time even just looking. Rustic vibe. The employees are so nice. Great for an old fashioned experience of shopping!!
I come here every year because my family lives in NH. It’s got great prices on candy, fun nicknacks, cool stuff like empty wasp nests—The problem is the amount of tourists and the fact that the store doesn’t have a capacity limit so people can freely walk around. It is always way over crowded and the employees either can’t or won’t have the hordes of people wait their turn outside. There’s also no mask mandate indoors, so those at a higher risk for covid should be wary.
Honestly, this place is just a nice, cute, little store that you can find quite a lot of stuff at. Ive got no complaints :)
Began stopping there on trips with my grandparents in the 1950s. Always got some penny candy back then. Then introduced my children to it in the 1980s. Now my grandkids. This trip was on a special mission to buy a replacement for my wifes favorite coffee mug bought there a couple years ago. It was a nice day for a drive in the MG with the top down. The company that made the coffee mug has gone out of business, however the cashier said she knew there were a few left somewhere. Its a personalized mug with her name. Chances are slim, but she came back with the last one and it had my wifes name on it. My wife was ecstatic. Thank you.
This store is amazing. If you are in the area you must stop and grab some penny candy or cheese from the antique refrigerator.
Trip down nostalgic lane for my boyfriend who grew up here 40 years ago & now for me! Always wants a trip back now!
Interesting place. Lots of souvenirs and helpful items
Really cool stuff and the staff is so friendly.
Lovely stroll down memory lane full of love and laughter around every corner! A priceless living monument to our past, present and future. Well done!! 😊
I come every year from California to stock up, literally love this place! They have the greatest gifts and very high-quality, unique items that prove to be timeless.

Great little store with lots of trinkets and gifts. Staff are really friendly and helpful.
Great books, candy, honey, socks, maps hardware. Something for everyone.
I absolutely love coming here when I am up at my lake house, they have such a big selection of all different kinds of items ranging from candy, shirts, candles, nick-knacks, kitchen items and many other items. Everyone is always friendly and helpful, I do know that they have a museum upstairs but due to Covid-19 it is closed I believe. I’ve heard some people saying that the prices are a bit high while I do agree with the prices are a little steep on certain items, I don’t mind paying because no other country store around has such a great selection of items.
Its bigger than it looks. It has a great selection of locally made canned foods, candy, soaps, etc. They also have a bunch of the generic touristy stuff.
Great selection of things..and large ...
Wonderful and very interesting store. Great Comb Honey 🍯
It has so many things like clothes, jelly/jams, greeting cards, books, homemade taffy, kids toys, kitchen everything.
Awesome old country store with everything you can imagine. Stop here every time we go up North!

A must visit, great for kids, check out the area history museum upstairs.

Super Cool place.... you could spend hours and not see everything!
Love this place, one of our favorite stops when passing through.
A true jewel and anchor business in Moultonborough center. An old time country store with souvenirs, artisan cheeses and home-style jarred-goods, books, T-shirts and even more! Come if you like to shop, come if you like to visit historic buildings, come for the barrel-pickles, or come to browse the small book area. Theres something for everyone. We are lucky to have it.
Ill be back. You need 3hours to see it all. Maybe 4.
I love the sour pickles and the penny candy? The local made moccasins? The Indian at the door.
Tons of fun! Love my purchases!
Its a cute country store.
This is one of my very favorite spots to visit up in the Lakes Region. There is something for everyone, even the fellas.
A great selection of knickknacks and candy at a relatively affordable price!
Fun, as always. Remember the store is much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside.
It is a big store with all kinds of unique items.
Lots of unique mementos. Very crowded and not very handicapped accessible
Wonderful store, with a lot of crazy and fun items. Will recommend.
Fun place to visit. Very unique store, so much to see.
Lots of unique, great things. Theyve got everything from maps, hats, t shirts, to cast iron skillets, tea pots, misc kitchen utensils, to books, collectibles, cut nails, antique and antique looking hardware, to candy.
So fun to get lost in this place. Great selection of kitchen gadgets! Take your time, theres lots to see!
