Yesterday I got one big, super ripe and yummy pineapple for $2.99 (better priced than Safeway and much tastier), very tasty and ripe mangoes and a pound of bananas for free (with yelp coupon). The construction forces you to park across the street but theres plenty of parking there. Beware though, theres no pedestrian crossing sign.

Trying hard to support this produce store that stubbornly clenches on the edge of a giant new shopping development. Best price in town for Semifreddi baguettes and cinnamon loaf. In that regard, other places are pale in comparison to the Milk Pail. Has a bargain shelf for mature produce. Huge cheese selection is a good reason to stop here, especially after their return from a food fair when there are very special cheese offerings. One rare time they even had Mont Dor cheese from France. A smattering of wines, imported food items, and frozen homemade croissants that thaw, cook at home, rising in time for tomorrows breakfast. Occasional good deals on produce. Organic section is minimal. Parking can be a beast to enter and exit.

Pros: a great selection of European deli items like cheeses, antipasto, fresh pasta. Their frozen croissants are amazing! Staff are lovely and the place has a real community vibe. Its nice supporting a small business.Cons: their fresh fruit and vegetables have gone down in quality and up in price. There are always flies hanging around which makes me wary to buy stock because I dont want to be bringing fly eggs home with me. But I guess you cant avoid that when a place is an open-air market? Not sure. The place is also starting to feel very dirty. Maybe because they are closing down in June they arent worrying too much about cleanliness any more. Nevertheless, I will be sad to see them go.

This isnt a regular grocery store. It has a style all its own with an indoor / outdoor feel and narrow aisles. The carts are suitably scaled down as well. The atmosphere is friendly. When its really busy, you may have to wait to park in their lot, but this happens rarely. The highlight is the fresh fruit and veggies which are generally quite good and inexpensive, although they dont have much organic produce. They have a great assortment of cheeses and fresh bread, as well as European goodies. They have a limited selection of eggs, milk, and butter, and the prices can be a bit high on these items. They dont sell meat.I hope Milk Pail continues to thrive as the neighborhood around it changes.

Been used to visiting this place often. Once I e-mailed the business owner that itd be nice idea to have muscat grapes in store. And when Ive got to the Milk Pail a week later, the grapes were there, at a very affordable price.I have no idea where did they find it in the beginning of March, I was literally shocked, and kept buying it throughout the season. Also, the selection of red caviar and cold smoked fish is really nice, not a something you see often in the Valley.Should I visit Mountain View again, Ill definitely visit the Milk Pail. You guys deliver, keep it up!

Great place for uncommon imported products like French cookies and other stuff. They have a great selection of produce, chocolate, and especially cheeses of all kinds, countries, shapes and sizes. Its a really cool place to visit, even if they are pretty cramped (one could say efficiently packed). I found some raspberry extract there, something thats pretty uncommon. They also carry Acme bread which I think is one of the best tasting in the area. You should check it out!

Go during hours when other people are not shopping otherwise you are in for a bad time. It can get crowded and the aisles are narrow. That said, there seems to be few other places up and down the peninsula where it is possible to get specialty products at reasonable rates. Outside of some of the bulk distribution centers, it seems like this store delivers the best quality and value.

The Milk Pail is what I miss most about living in Mountain View. They have phenomenal fruits, voluptuous vegetables, and choice cheeses, all for fair prices. They also have many foreign products (especially Eastern European) that are tough to find elsewhere. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking can be dicey, and its quite busy after work and after 10 AM on weekends. But even when theres a crowd, its absolutely with the visit.

An amazing family owned European style open air market. The produce is fresh and well priced. Their cheese selection is outstanding and they have fresh bread at reasonable prices every day. The new parking lot can be a pain but it doesnt deduct from the fact that youre walking out of there with more produce than you know what to do with and only 10 dollars spent.

Awesome European Style market. The prices prices are cheaper than everywhere else Ive seen around Palo Alto. My wife an I enjoy shopping here. The produce here is generally very very good (and if anything, sometimes it is too ripe and needs to be eaten shortly after purchase) but the thing that we like most is the interesting collection of other stuff they sell. Like the cheeses from all over the country/world or other interesting food items that can be hard to find anywhere else. And, with the new parking lot, it is actually easier to shop here than it was before. If you value quality produce, you should consider shopping here.

Amazing neighborhood specialty market... wide assortment of produce, cheeses, European, Russian, Mediterranean foods. Youll find many fruits and veggies that youve never seen before (cauliflower mushrooms!). More cheeses than you can imagine from around the world. Small and sometimes crowded, especially on weekends. Multiple languages heard from customers, so its attracting some worldly shoppers. Pretty good prices on many items as well, though truly imported products can be higher priced. Plus theyre one of the few places Ive found that sells my favorite food, jackfruit 😋

If there were 6 stars, I would happily give them! This is the absolute best place for grocery shopping between Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale. Ultra fresh, local, and cheap veggies and fruits combined to European imports of all the things that make expats homesick (specialty pastries and sweets, herbs and spices, pickles, breads and meats). Ridiculous selection of cheese (local and import) at much more affordable prices than Whole Foods. Great selection of sausage, pates, and dried meats; fresh duck! Also an interesting frozen goods section for anything pastry (croissants, bread, pizza, pasta).

This is an amazing market, with local produce at a really reasonable price, along with plenty of imported European specialties (especially alot of cheese!). It really is worth having as compared to the generic supermarkets, or even verses places like Trader Joes or Whole Foods. Id get my fruit and veggies, smoked meats, and cheese here any day over any other options. I wish there was more but I respect them not wanting to expand and create quality issues by franchising it.

Approach with caution depending on what you buy. The cheese selection is solid, but pay attention to the cut date. I bought 2 goat cheeses the monday before Thanksgiving, by Thanksgiving both were beginning to mold. I also bought some frozen croissants that same trip, forgot to pull them out of the freezer, and decided to save them for another occasion. When I pulled them out, two had black mold like spots on them where they were touching so I tossed them. The rest seemed fine. I didnt think to take a photo, sorry!
