The store was very organized and everything was labeled to help you find what your looking for. The selection was good, they offered a wide variety of genres and artist. The owner is nice and will play samples of albums for you. The cats are very kind and cute

Owner is extremely nice. I love coming in here and just browsing. The cat is friendly, you can pet him for hours if you wanted. Organized nicely. Workers are helpful and will even try to search for records or recommend them even! He recommended a Byrds album to us since they didn’t have Turn! Turn! Turn!

I took a bunch of Elton John records in to have him look at them, and he made me a very fair offer on them. He is nice, polite, and extremely knowledgeable about music.

I rarely leave reviews but our experience was so great at this incredible gem of a shop that I couldn’t resist. We spent a couple hours browsing, picking up more than we expected we would.The owner was super knowledgeable and could tell you every section that every album was in off the top of his head. One artist might be across three sections and every one of them made sense. He was willing to sample almost anything so you could get a little taste of what you were buying and had great recommendations.We had to resist before digging though the used too intensely (or we would have gone bankrupt) but the selection of used looked like it was also excellent based at a glance.I am only disappointed that I didn’t get to meet this cat mentioned in other reviews.

I visited Village Green countless times throughout my college years and they were impressive every single time. I know the owner and I had a conversation my freshman year about my dream to collect a copy of every U2 record and from that day on, he never failed to recognize me by my face and ask me if I owned X, Y or Z before I left to make sure I didnt miss anything. I even remember him knocking a few dollars off the price of an old U2 bootleg because he knew I was after all I could get and it meant the absolute world to me as a broke college kid just trying to get everything he could, and still does!

Village Green Records is a great store. Very lax and a very comfortable looking cat hammock. The weird section may be the best section.

Awesome record store! Im new to vinyl records, got an awesome set-up for my birthday last year, but already been in several stores. This is my favorite hands down. Travis was an awesome help. Im wanting to start getting into jazz too and he pulled out some great recommendations and played them while I was browsing. And I also wanted some classical music on vinyl which isnt always as easy to find and he had a great selection. Prices on new and used are both great. Definitely will be back!

This house converted to a record store may be small but has a really great selection from various genres. From new to used records everything is reasonably priced and ready to listen to.

Wonderful experience. Many great albums, I had bought Piñata by Freddie Gibbs and had a talk with the owner and he is the greatest, great atmosphere and great records.

Im a 30-something music junkie and Ive been to record stores all across the country - Seattle, New York, Chicago, New Orleans etc...and Village Green Records is still far and away my favorite. Travis is a master of his craft - he has an encyclopedic knowledge of music and no matter what youre into or how esoteric it is, hell have amazing recommendations lined up. You get personal attention and a comfy atmosphere (complete with a cute cat) thats often lacking in the bigger record stores.VGR is a living work of art. If you happen to be driving through Muncie or attending Ball State and you have any interest in music whatsoever, you need to stop by and support this small business.

This is an awesome little record store. I was in the area for the Ball State Jazz Fest and I picked up a vinyl of Coltranes Giant Steps for a good price. Youd be surprised how much music they fit in that small shop

They have a wide selection of albums as well as a staff which is super helpful without being too persistent. The staff will even recommend albums to customers and play possible music choices over the store speakers for people. I went here for a free concert on Saturday and I was there for the whole 6ish hour show, they had great acts and passed around a donation bucket for the acts which I really appreciated. In summary, this place is great!

VGR is one of the gems of Muncie, IN. Travis is the best and always has the best recommendations, as well as an absolutely killer selection of both new and used records, CDs, and tapes. During the pandemic, it had been so easy to get new music through curbside pickup.I love Travis, I love VGR, and I’ll love you for going there too.

When I thought it couldnt get any better certain CDs I wanted wasnt in store so the guy who runs the spot sorry for forgetting your name bro cause youve been the best he ordered the CDs for me then message me when they arrived. My experience at this store each time I visit is nothing but impressive. The small close knit staff are SO knowledgeable about all the music in the store especially the owner! I will never buy records from any other shop than Village Green! The selection and varieties of artists and genres is huge and full of gems if you look hard enough!

Best record store in Indiana. Hell, best record store Ive been to PERIOD! Every genre of music available and a nice and cheap used section too (no duds here, every used LP is in there for a reason.) Travis (the owner) will hone in on your musical taste and give out perfect recommendations. If that isnt enough to get you in the door, the prices are the cheapest you will find ANYWHERE! I have purchased records here cheaper than you can find them direct from the label before shipping.

Great store for new and used vinyl, CDs and other music mediums. I spent a lot but prices are extremely reasonable so I got a ton of music. Music is appropriately sorted by genre and easy to look through. Both cats are cool, the short haired one liked me better.

During the school year, I always make sure to stop in at the Village Green Record Store once a week. It has a very friendly atmosphere, and, while it may not be the biggest place, it does have a surprisingly varied selection. If they dont have what youre looking for, they will place an order, have it shipped to VGR, and then call you.They also, from time-to-time, host local punk/rock shows on their front lawn for FREE. Its an all-around fun place to hang out and listen to music.

One of the best record stores I have encountered in more than 30 years of collecting records and searching for new music! The selection is amazingly broad, the items are well-organized, and the prices are awesome. I have picked up so many gems there, from avant-garde classical to the latest indie rock, and I have always found something surprising with every visit. The owner, Travis, is truly passionate about music and is always handy with recommendations and special orders. Muncie can be proud to have a store like Village Green that rivals anything found in bigger cities.

These people are never there. I have been to the store a half dozen times and it is always closed. Their hours are not posted on the door.The online listing says that they are open today 12-7pm. I was there at 12:30 and the door is locked and lights off.Disappointed again.

Village Green Records is not only a record store, but an experience and a community. When I visited Ball State for my freshman year orientation, VGR was the first place I stopped. Not on purpose, but by chance. I came up the night before orientation started and wanted Jimmy Johns. As we parked, I looked up and saw that VGR wasnt a house, but a record store. I walked in and was just mesmerized by the selection and the whole vibe. From that day I was in VGR constantly buying music or going to shows. It is weird to think that a single record store has single handedly soundtracked so many great and so great moments in my life.I have graduated and moved far from Muncie now, but I still get my records shipped to me from VGR. The prices are insanely low, Travis is super knowledgable and friendly, and you can always find something you never knew you needed. Go in and experience it, you wont be disappointed.
