I have very mixed feelings about White Bison. All my experiences at the White Bison in Franklin, TN have been amazing. Although in Murfreesboro, it has been a different story. I’ll start with the coffee. The coffee at White Bison is delicious and I would take it over nasty Starbucks any day. I love how White Bison is local and I do believe it is worth every penny you pay, food wise. The sandwiches are a great addition to go with your coffee. Now for the service. The Murfreesboro location has left me at times never wanting to go back. Half of the staff has attitudes when having to make you a sandwich or a coffee, or not knowing how to scan reward points etc. And I can understand being new and trying to figure things out. But this seems to happen with half of the staff almost every time I go.Now, on the other hand I want to compliment the good half of the staff. The ones who know what they’re doing, make me feel comfortable and not like I’m some chore because they have to make a sandwich or coffee that I’m paying for. Again, half is made up of very sweet and helpful staff members, and the other half, I felt like I was a problem or a chore or ruining their day because I ordered something.I will say, that their app isn’t that great. I definitely purchased 7 coffees, and it said that I had just received a reward. I went to go redeem that reward the next day, and it wasn’t there, so I purchased another coffee. I really don’t want to take my business elsewhere, as I love the coffee, food and some of the staff, but it does get annoying.
I came here because the menu sounded promising for those of us who expect a certain quality of coffee. When I pulled up and saw it was in a gas station, I began to fear Id made a mistake. I ordered an espresso, a pour-over, and a nitro to get the full range. It was much better than I feared. Despite the baristas knowing next to nothing about coffee and brewing, they somehow lucked into an excellent coffee experience. This is partly due to the automated pour-over which offered a consistently above average cup of coffee. However they seemed to be adept at espresso. The cold brew was smooth, and though I prefer a little more complexity in my nitro, it was quite passable.Examples of not knowing much about coffee (because Im sure it seems offensive if any of them read this):The difference between single-origin and blendThe difference between roastery/supplier and style of roastAny knowledge of the roastery or age of beansThe number of grams associated with their pour-over machine/the volume or weight of the finished productAt some point I discovered asking any other questions of import would be met with an answer of doubtThey were all very friendly and courteous. It wasnt quick, but they have a lot to tend to.
Ok coffee, drinks not mixed well. Employees didnt smile or even look up from their phones when we walked in, which was disappointing.
Thanks for the conversation & great coffee ☕ loved the hot chicken biscuit 😋
Murfreesboro needs more locations!BUT when I do get to the side of town that this location is on to get my LAVENDER ICED LATTE my day is made! I never have to cross my fingers, hoping that it tastes good each time b/c they get it right EVERY TIME. I love White Bison and their employees are pretty rad too!
Just ordered and food was great as always! Although there was only one worker and he was brand new, so he was doing his best but i could tell he was stressing and i felt very bad for him:(
One of my favorite places to work outside of the office is in coffee shops. I try whenever I can to find a local business to support with my patronage. As a new resident of Murfreesboro, I was disappointed to see that a college town does not have more locally owned coffee shops and was concerned I would not find a place that I enjoy working it, but Im happy to report that White Bison has everything I was looking for in a local coffee shop. There is free Wi-fi that is fast and easy to access, and there are ample outlets to plug up laptop computers or phones. The space is clearly designed to encourage people to come work here. The location is a bit unusual, as it is located inside of a convenience store/gas station, but it is impeccably clean and full of natural light. The White-Bison half of the convenience store as a very aesthetically appealing design. A bonus of this location is that there are several other drinks and snack close at hand if you arent interested in what is on the White Bison menu. The White Bison mocha was absolutely scrumptious. I ate some of the free samples of baked goods (a cinnamon muffin and an apple pastry), which were very tasty. They have a rewards program, so I got $1 off my first drink. I get a free one after 9 more purchases. The people working there was immensely friendly, helpful, and quick.White Bison serves the Nashville/Middle TN area. Their company appears to prioritize ethical business practices (see their website), and they offer discounts for refills using their reusable cups.I will absolutely be visiting White Bison again!
I ordered a cortado, but what they gave me was a bad latte (unless I’m mistaken, a cortado is equal parts espresso and textured milk, so for a double shot you’d end up with close to four oz of drink). The milk tasted burnt and the 12 oz cup was full. So I decided to order a Shaker on my way out and it wasn’t terrible but predominantly tasted so much like heavy cream that by the end of the drink I felt like I’d chugged a cup of milk fat.My fiancée’s mocha was okay but they didn’t mix it well so the bottom fourth of the drink the drink (pictured) was almost straight chocolate syrup. Finally, all of their chairs are uncomfortable, without any back support so we didn’t feel like sticking around for more than a quick minute.Just an incredibly disappointing experience to drive 40 minutes to the nearest White Bison since friends had recommended it
This place was so nice and clean and inviting but above that the people who work at the cafe were so pleasant! I usually don’t leave reviews unless someone really leaves a great impression on me and the guy working here (did not catch his name) was so so nice! And the coffee was great! Very happy with my stop here!
Love the smooth coffee flavor and the great customer service.
Way better than Starbucks and a huge plus- no line to wait in. The coffee is fresh and made to perfection. Great rewards program. This hidden gem is our go to coffee in the Boro for sure!
Best coffee Ive ever had, I was on a 16 hour drive from st Louis to Florida, and it hit the spot! Highly recommend!! 😋😋
Best coffee ever, blows Starbucks away!
Their coffee is the best. Super friendly staff. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. If you havent tried it your missing out!!
One might find it silly that I am giving this place a 5 star review without actually ever trying their coffee. I do not drink coffee nor do I enjoy the taste. But, what I can rate this place is based on costumer service, atmosphere, grab-n-go items, and overall experience. I probably come here twice of week for their grab-n-go options. Sometimes this is just easier than going to the overly popular Frothy Monkey or pseudo Mexican Oscars. They get their food from an outside source that I have seen distribute at other places, but varying in price than the other places. Here, it is priced fairly and it is hearty for what you get. They have wraps, sandwiches, salads, and my favorite - chicken salad with grapes and crackers.
Excellent start to our morning of travels! The employees were kind and delivered our coffee in a timely manner. They managed to appear clean and pristine despite being in a gas station. I would definitely come here again if I lived in town!
Great lattes and pastries. Very clean.
My husband and I frequent this local coffee shop every weekend and it NEVER disappoints. I get the White Bison Mocha and hubby gets the Vanilla Latte - Both are amazing!!!! When we aren’t visiting White Bison we are brewing their delicious coffee at our home. We can’t get enough! Please do yourself and your city a favor and pay a visit to White Bison. It’s the best coffee, ever!
What a surprise! It is in a gas station. Healthy sandwiches and creative coffees. Nice sitting area. A turkey with kale on spinach wrap sandwich and a large macchiato was $12. Made me happier than fast food/cheap restaurant options.
Aside from having fantastic coffee...they always greet me with a smile and wonderful customer service. My young daughter is usually with me when we go through the drive thru and they are quick with a treat and sweet conversation with her...warms this mama’s heart in more ways than one!
Very good coffee. Hope they soon build more stand alone shops. This place is definitely giving Starbucks a real run for its money.
Great service but the vanilla latte was way too sweet.
Fantastic coffee bar we stumbled on while road tripping from Indiana to Florida. Our drinks were great and the baristas were very polite. I even bought my husband one of their T-shirts as a random souvenir and its one of his favorites:)
Sometimes you want to goWhere everybody knows your nameAnd theyre always glad you cameYou want to be where you can seeThe troubles are all the sameYou want to be where everybody knows your nameThats this place..... but with coffee..... seriously, they know, like, everyones name. Its impressive. And the coffee is damn good too!
Hard to believe this gem is conveniently located in a gas station. You can get just about anything you want here from espresso to pour overs, nitro brews, and more. The white bison mocha on ice is a nice, sweet drink on a hot day.
Amazing coffee and knowledgeable staff. Convenient price and location.
Ive tried drip coffee, Americano, and a regular latte at White Bison and all were pretty good. But the Cold Brew with a little creamer was delicious!
Employees were nice and speedy with my order and the drink was very good as well. Much better priced than other coffe shops
We had been traveling most of the night and arrived at White Bison at 6 am; the service was very friendly and timely, and the coffee was quality. Very clean environment, much appreciated start to a day filled with more traveling.
The service was quick and the coffee quality was surprisingly good. The coffee section certainly added to a better aura for the entire location, and the staff was very friendly.
Asked for the barista to surprise me with whatever drink she recommended the most. No clue what it was but amazingness filled my world. Gotta go back for more.
Have been visiting this location since right after opening. But last Sat will be my last time if the blonde punk who halfway waited on me is still there! I ordered a med - med roast with a tad of cream. When I pulled to window and was given total of $3.02 I asked if there had been a price increase. He said no but we charge extra for flavor. To which I replied but I didnt get flavor. And blondie said oh you got cream and thats extra too. Then I said so youre telling me that you now charge extra for cream?? He said sure do! Then I said you are the only store in Murfreesboro that charges for cream. He said oh well. Then I said well Ive bought my last cup here. Then he said fine by me! and closed the window. WORST cust experience Ive had in 50 years!!!!!!! I wish I could have given ZERO stars! Update... I left a message for Christine shortly after getting the response, Its Thur now 11:05... havent heard back!
I decided to give their nitro a try today. I paid for my order and was waiting for it to be finished when I overheard the employee speaking to who Im assuming was the manager, telling her that the nitro was out. The manager told her to offer me something on the house since it was out. The employee asked if I would like a cold brew or something different but didnt offer me a refund. I asked her if the nitro and the cold brew were the same price and she told me the nitro was a dollar more. She had a blank stare on her face when I told her Id like a refund for the nitro and Id pay for the cold brew. Because why would I pay more money for something I wasnt getting? When she told the manager, she replied with “yes, I told you to give her the drink on the house.” When she was made aware that I had already paid for my order she told the employee to offer me a pastry or breakfast sandwich. Neither of which I wanted. She told me they couldn’t refund me because I paid with my card but again offered me a pastry or a breakfast sandwich. It’s 2019. What business cannot run a refund on a card? I didn’t mind paying for a cold brew coffee but the fact that they all looked puzzled when I didn’t want to pay more money for something that I didn’t get blows my mind.
Was just stopping to get fuel. But I thought I would get a vanilla frappe. Omg!!!! That was the best I’ve ever had!!!! Thank you! Thank you! I live in Chattanooga and travel this way frequently. My now go to stop in Murfreesboro! Also...please come to Chattanooga ASAP!
Legitimately great coffee with options like pour over, espresso, or cold brew along with a rotating selection of single origin roasts or blends
Holy cow! Well, bison, lol. Anyways, I’m obsessed with this coffee, like how in the hell is gas station coffee this good?
Very good for gas station coffee. It is worth giving it a try
Super cool people making some super cool beverages. Worth a try. Trust me
Great alternative to the coffee chains! Great service, enjoyed the coffee, and the seating is surprisingly comfy. Very clean.
Excellent customer service, no real wait times and Ive gotta be honest, some of the best coffee for the price. I even bought a pound to take home.
Very clean and organized store! Well stocked and friendly service. Would reccomend!
Lovely employees, delicious drinks, nice atmosphere and tasty food! Not usually busy, dont let this little secret out!
I like all the different combinations plus the good food here.
Over priced gas station food.Drive through order. Breakfast. This place tries to be trendy. They give you little botique bags for their cooler isle premade food that is on point with other gas stations or food vending machines. Cute napkins with their logo. Super premium container for their garbage food. The people there took it off the shelf and warmed it up in a convection oven. I asked for an orange juice. I was sold the most expensive organic juice they had. 2.50 fo a 12 oz bottle. The food, a suasage scramble tasted aweful. All I could taste was salt and Cheyenne pepper. Even the pictures of the food in the drive through order area looked like garbage. I would avoid this place period. What you are paying for is the fancy packaging.
Very nice, in gas station but still good coffee.
Trendy, cute place to score a cup of joe.
Quiet coffee shop with a great space to sit and work
Fantastic! Beats out Charbucks!! Awesome guest service.
Awesome service ALL the time and great coffee!!
5 employees had no idea how to make a green tea latte. I have got this drink numerous times at this location. I am really not sure what to think.
