Wow, some of these reviews are wild... well its now 2021 and Sue & Thurstons are amazing. Shes a wonderfully kind and soft spoken woman. She called me about a past due bill which I never received. She told me how much the bill was for and I nearly had a heart attack. I explained that I was told otherwise and she said she would happily look into it. A few days later she called me back and everything was all set.Aside from that, thier guys show up on time and are friendly. I dealt with Karl and another gentleman who were both very confident in what they were doing. I use propane service from them and I honestly couldnt be happier.Thanks guys! 😊 and gals!!

December 10th. Just tried to call to schedule yearly service, cleaning and filter change of boiler unit to be ready for the winter, Was told there was no availability until April??? I didnt expect maybe anything until after the holidays maybe, but really over the next 4 months you cant spare a person for a 1 hour service? Not going to be working with these people again.

Ill start with the only positive and reason for the two stars. Rick is awesome- the only reason why Ive stayed with the company thus far.The customer service, or lack thereof, is embarrassing. The staff is rude (particularly Tony), argumentative, and clearly not trained to handle basic customer service inquiries.Ive literally had to convince Thurston Energy, Inc to schedule deliveries. Im doing a large project, which is utilizing large quantities of propane, and call Thurston to schedule deliveries as needed. Every time I call, the staff has an unbelievably difficult time grasping this concept- that I am currently using a great more propane than general customers. I am questioned about how I am using so much, why... when all I would simply like to do is schedule a delivery. My complaint is not so much about their questioning, but in their tone/attitude.I wanted to support a local small business, but unfortunately my experience with Thurston Energy, Inc has been trying. I would suggest Thurston Energy, Inc evaluate their staff and hire individuals who are willing and able to provide an acceptable level of customer service.

Thurston is a good company if youre not concerned about spending some extra money. Unfortunately, theyre the highest priced oil company in Naugatuck.When it comes to emergency services, they are great. My furnace quit on me last winter and within 30 minutes they had a team out to my house to solve the problem.The team at Thurston is polite and friendly, and I would recommend them to anyone stuck in a bind.

I was locked into a rate with thurstons for a year, 2017-2018 during that time they delivered oil once in November and once in March. I got an oil delivery September 26 at a rate over 3 dollars a gallon. I called and spoke with Tony and he told me I was pretty much out of luck because I didn’t call to cancel my auto delivery. The shady thing was my contract for the rate of 2.68 had expired just a few days before. They claim the timing was a “coincidence” and after speaking with Susan she refunded the difference because she tried to make things right. I sent tony an email at his request terminating my auto delivery. Fast forward to January 2019 they deliver a full tank of oil at my previous locked in rate unannounced and uninvited. I called and spoke with tony again and confirmed his email address and told him the date I sent the email canceling my auto delivery he said he had no idea what happened. I asked him if they planned to also take the money out of my bank account automatically given they had no permissions whatsoever to even deliver oil to me and he claimed they would’ve never done that. He could offer me the rate I was supposed to get from my (new) company that was due to deliver that day I had to cancel at 2.28 a gallon. I told him I’d think it over. He told me he didn’t know what else I wanted him to do because he’d gone above and beyond for me already?? Offering me 70 cents off a gallon. First of all by every day math they only gave me 40 cents of a gallon AND Given I didn’t ask them to deliver oil to me, I didn’t want their oil, and I never planned to use them again they also had no authorization from me to deliver oil I don’t believe they were owed a dime. I then spoke to Susan and explained to her how I felt and she said she understood but I was going to use the oil anyway and to stop repeating myself that I never asked them to deliver oil since I was going to use it anyway. I told her I’d pay her for the oil I wwanted to be delivered to my house from the other company (that I had to cancel because they filled my tank unprompted!!) and she still wanted me to pay for the extra gallons. I told her it wasn’t in my budget and I would pay them what I planned to pay my oil company. She also told me all the oil companies work together so it isn’t a big deal that they delivered it. To me it is given I just had to pay them for something I didn’t ask for and that is written in email from me to tony that I didn’t want anymore. Bunch of shady individuals here and thinking of bringing this to a lawyer. Beware.

Carl was very helpful in explaining everything to me that I needed to get propane hook up. I have them coming out this week so lets see if my review stays 5 stars :)

My grandfather worked for Thurston in the 60s and until his death in 1977. Ive always heard good things about them up until I seen the reviews, they have always been expensive and always good at what they do however keep in mind you get what you pay for!

I had used Thurstons oil company for several years while living in naugatuck. Overall they were a decent company. But what brings me to this review is the miserable piece of garbage Tony.I had moved out of my condo as i was in the process of a short sale. Because of this i called Thurstons and terminated my contract. The short sale ended up taking longer than expected and I needed one last oil delivery. I called thurstons up and spoke to Tony, who said they would send a single delivery at my old contract price, and they did. He also assured me (as i confirmed this with him twice) that there would be no further deliveries in the future.Fast forward 3 months and i get a bill for 360$ worth of oil that was auto delivered. So i call to tell Thurstons they need to take the oil back or give me a serious discount as I specifically did everything i could to avoid this situation. Thats when Tony called me back talking Extremely aggressive to me and very rude about the situation, somehow trying to tell me he did me a favor and this is how i repay him. He wanted the full amount and did not acknowledge it was his mistake even once. I explained we spoke together on this and that he was in error, but he was belligerent with me. Long story short i paid for the oil i did not ask for nor want at the price of 275$. As if that wasnt enough, the way Tony handled the situation and spoke to me was unbelievable to me. So now its my turn.Tony looks like he could give birth to a baby calf. He has got to be a minimum of 450lbs so I can kind of see why he is a miserable blob of a human being. Maybe next time hell think before treating people the way he does. Im glad i never yelled and swore at him as this review is much more satisfying. I beg you to not give this company your hard earned cash. There are plenty of other places to do business with. Hope youre happy now Tony, this one’s for you tubby : )

They scam me,said they filled my tank yet, 3 days later I had no oil,..then sued me

Horrible company worst experience with a local business I have ever had to deal with high prices and ruthless owners who have no consideration for their customers please do yourself and family a favor and avoid them at all costs!!!!!
